Is it time for DD to receive some love?

Fun fact: the only class that starts to play even more passive than usual when there are many DDs around is - tadaaaa - BaBBies! For DDs more DDs means high tension play with lots of - possibly - equal enemies, but usually less cruisers, so fewer chances to get annihilated immediately when spotted, but a good chance for short and violent knife-fights... Cruisers can - when the players have some brains - use their DDs spotting to get into good positions and feast on DDs and BaBBies. CVs... no real need to play passive. Find a good postion where nobody will sneak up to you.. sink the DDs that manage to slip through (Hammer&Anvil works good from Hosho upwards or just spot them and let the Cruisers do their job) Even good BB captains will not see a problem in 4 DDs per side. Check the minimap often, stay out of possible torpedo lanes and remember that your Big Bad Guns work best at around 12km or so (less for lowtiers). So the only players that probably have problems with many DDs in a battle are the usual brainless zombies, that don't know about WASD.exe and who always play passive.

    Ocean Map

Oh, often enough I am a potato... or at least play like one And "play it safe" isn't something I usually do when ending up with a T8 in a T10 battle. Well, except in my Benson, but "playing it safe" in a DD is rather normal procedure. In my Mogami I do have to play risky to achieve anything, and success rather depends on the team and the number of brainless zombies in it. With the Bismarck though it's not needed to "play it safe". With a little luck, good positioning, more luck with the zombies in the team and RNGesus on your side, a T10 battle is often easier to do with her, than a T8 battle, because of less people being afraid that enemy shots ruin their paintjobs...

Is it time for DD to receive some love?

When I play my DDs I really HATE to see 4+ DDs per team in a battle. A maximum of 3 DDs is my "comfort zone". When in any other class, I am not bothered by the number of DDs in any way. Usually they mostly take care of each other anyway. Cruisers can delete them easily (usually) and I've met many (way too many in fact) DDs that seemed to really get nervous, when they were faced with a BB hunting THEM and not the other way 'round. A buff for IJN torps would still be appreciated, though

    Detection debuff change suggestion

Gun caliber would be my choice, as this could be implemented for secondary guns, too (or even AA guns). And the time could be 1/10 gun calibre in mm * 1 second. So 152mm guns would end up at 15 seconds 300mm guns at 30 seconds and the "effing big guns" would end with 40+ seconds... And even for those DDs with calibers of 130mm or so this would be better than the 20 seconds now... With a change like that, even the new smoke rules would be a bit easier to swallow. And it would punish the class that is supposed to be punished by it the most - smoke camping BBs - the hardest, as they would end up spotted all the time as long as they shoot (at least the larger calibers...)

We need to talk about RN BB's

Since it has been a couple days now, that the RN BBs hit the seas, some personal remarks: One RN BB that - at least for me - isn't anywhere close to being OP is the T3 Bellerophon. 10 battles in it, 2 wins - can't get it to work somehow... utterly frustrating Seeing one when I'm sealclubbing on low tier is always fun though. AP and torps bring it down like any other BB Because I was frustrated with the Bello, I retrained her captain to the T4 Orion and OMeffingG.. might be I was awfully lucky, but I did 6 battles today, got an 83%+ winrate and an average damage of ~60k. "Warming up" enemy BBs with HE and then, when they show broadside in the attempt to do some damage against the Orion, stuffing some AP into them is just sooo much fun. This thing really is borderline OP. I played it very aggressive or rather ruthlessly and most of the time that worked like a charm... The Iron Duke... hmmm... well... not really my cup of tea, I guess... it works, but I had more fun in the Kongo or the New York and I did better winrate- and damagewise in the König (which I don't like that much either...). When meeting an Iron Duke as an enemy they don't seem to be too terrific either. The Nelson... still haven't found a 100% way to play her, but I had a couple of very nice battles in her. Getting uptiered is a bit rough, but even then one might be able to give some higher tier BBs a bad time. That Zombieheal she has is really nasty. Taking 120k+ in a battle and still being able to survive is a definitive plus. The Warspite... yeah, not the kind of RN BBs we're talking about here, but she's still kinda british, right? Right?? And she's still my most favourite BB. Especially, when she has to deal with her lesser brethren - the new RN BBs - including her twin sister, Queen Lisbeth... And from the "passive" side - seeing them RN BBs on the opposing team - I can't comment above T7, as I don't have a) played much above T8 during the last days and when I did, I b) didn't meet too many RN BBs in that range. Below T6 they aren't that much different from all the other BBs to me. Yes, it's nasty that they usually have HE loaded when I play my DDs. But they can only shoot what they can see. And torps hurt them... Yes, as a cruiser they can really give you some ouchies... but normal BBs can do that too, or sometimes even better. And 152mm guns can use AP against them (well, up to T6, right) and still do damage, when You know where to aim. Just don't show them Your broadsides... but that's something a cruiser should never do to any enemy anyway... Skillwise I met some good RN BB players and the usual enormous amount of potatoes. And I met some people, who ate enemy RN BBs for breakfast while there were quite a few that didn't seem to have a clue how to handle them. So.. same procedure as with any new nation/class combo. Of course all this comes from a low tier sealclubber without any T10 ship and because of that no clue of what this game is all about.

    All New Things (smoke nerf)

Seems I'm playing too much DDs and RN cruisers and use the smoke as a means to stay hidden when attacking. Is that "passive meta"? And rushing smoke isn't that hard even now. Or just shooting at the spot, from where the shots come out of the smoke. Or sticking some torps into the smoke. That's what I usually do, and often successfull "High keve ranked"? And here I am thinking the last ranked season was only T6 and the whines about "smoke meta" erupted due to there being no radar ships at that tier. I haven't played that much ranked lately - too many potatoes, makes me going potatoish too - but I can't say that I encountered any T6 ranked teams sitting in smoke, trying to make the other team "blink". If that happens with the Rank 1 players, when they do the "elite ranked" stuff... well, maybe WG doesn't have a problem with smoke, but with high tier playstyle... I wouldn't know, because I think of T10 as utterly boring. Can't say that I see it as "questionable", 'cause I don't see it happen often. But yeah, probably it's a high tier problem. From the T10 battles I have to play when taking out my T8 ships it seems to me that T10 battles somehow seem to transform normal players in frightfull pu***** who are afraid to get shot at - even more so, than one can see it on lower tiers already. So if the favoured "meta" at T10 is to sit in smoke with a full team and pray that the other team comes out of it's smoke first, then I guess there is something wrong with high tier battles, not with smoke. But of course WG rather comes up with a half-baked "solution" that manages to nerf RN cruisers quite a bit, while on the other hand not bringing that much of a change to the BB population, because 90% of them don't even know that they could use smoke to their advantage and therefor won't even notice that these changes are considered to be a nerf to them.

    Ocean Map

I do love that map... but not enough to enter the borefest that TX battles are to get a go on it. Get too many boring TX battles in my T8 ships already. And sometimes it feels as if I'm sealclubbing in a TX battle with a T8 ship... just because some players have TX ships it doesn't mean they can't still be potatoes.

    Ocean Map

Ocean map - dividing "The Real Players" from "The Potatoes" ever since it was put in the game... I really, really, really miss that map... haven't played on it in ages
  10. Whenever nowadays a BB pings me and commands "go cap (enter a cap far away from my DD or a cap being an utterly stupid tactical option) I answer: "as soon as BBs compete for caps, I will follow their commands" and go to the cap I've chosen. Usually works nicely...

What is wrong with Queen Elisabeth?

Well the Warspite has another advantage... nobody can make dirty jokes about sticking a big, phat, hard torpedo in her... rear. But in one way the Warspite and QE are equal: The battle ain't over 'til the Fat Lady sinks!

    All New Things (smoke nerf)

Well, those "lots of player base complaints" could have been done away with a single sentence: "Just use your effing brains, You potatoes!"
  13. Deckeru_Maiku

My game experience does not cover my expectations

Well, see it positive: You got rid of a bad team in a very short time and had the chance to start a new battle and probably get a marginally better team... Or You could do the bright thing and forget about playing TX battles, which are astoundingly potatoish and boring and instead play in the T4 to T6 region, where the real action is.
  14. Deckeru_Maiku

Someone should maybe tell him what credits are for.

+ Possible reason: player wants to have nice, pink ratings... When you start an account and play each line from start upwards, you probably will be bad at first, but later get (a bit) better.. nontheless the stats will still include the time when You were a dumb noob. Enter the "Premium Account". Yes, Your captains are untrained at the start. But with "better" ships and more experience You probably will get better results than starting with T1 ships in every line. I'm quite sure that MY total stats would be better than they are now, if I would only use Premiums... they are better on my sealclubbing account (Deckero_Maiko)

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

I think the last four supercontainers I got - one day two in a row, but four total since the start of the year or so.. - contained 25 flags of different sorts. Nothing I consider as "super"

    Incomming smoke nerf?

So, a "real iife logical explanation" for ships suddenly getting visible in smoke was - afaik - that due to the gun fire the smoke was drifting apart a bit, therefor showing the position of the shipt for a short while, until the smoke drifts in position again... Which obviously wouldn't happen to any ship OUTSIDE or several klicks BEHIND a smoke cloud. So, again, reality has nothing to do with this nerf. It's again just a halfcooked and unrealistic "solution" to a mostly nonexisting "problem" - BBs sitting in smoke shooting away happily - which, in the end, mostly benefits BaBBies. ...something about it being a nerf to BBs... Which is for random gameplay utter bullfeces. It isn't common meta for BBs to sit in smoke and shoot at enemy ships happily. So they will not be "nerfed" by taking this option away, as they wouldn't use it in 99% of the battles anyway. It IS a nerf to all other classes - except CV - who use that option often and in some cases have to rely on smoke to achieve anything, but now will be seen more or less easier by others. So, as I wrote before, it is again a nerf from which BaBBies will have a benefit, while all other classes - except CVs - will really be nerfed.

A Public Apology, and shout out to you special unicorns

And what dou You call an irishman that CAN swim? A Scot.
  19. Right at the start someone used that F-command "Need Intelligence Data" on which I replied: Intelligence Data says, that SCRUBS division will kick our a**es" When I got to A to cap, one of your team's DDs "joined" me a short while later, which I told the team... didn't keep our Myoko (I guess...) storming into the cap and right through it to get annihilated... After capping, I went north, spotted and marked your team's DD twice and, of course, nobody cared to shoot at it. So when I started my suicide run into B it was just to try to do some damage, as the game was already lost.. and then I ran into You three to get terminated near instantly... AND I COULDN'T EVEN SINK (or at least do heavy damage to) ONE OF YOU!!!!11eleven! I only came in at OBT ( I think... or was it CBT when buying a Sims, Gremlyn or Yubari allowed you to join Beta?) but yeah, meeting the same people sometimes a couple of times each day was great. This "Ah, there HE is again... this time I will get HIM" feeling made the battles a lot more personal and lead to players being a lot more... eager... to have success. Nowadays there are way too many "Chill, dude.. I just play the game to have fun, so I sail with my BB right through the channel on Twin Brothers right at the start, because lulz..." players around. If it would keep these players away, I would even be ready to pay € 10.- a month to WG for "Pro (wannabee) Servers"

    Incomming smoke nerf?

Yes. All the time. Sneaking out from behind an island and smoking up to send out some torps is standard procedure for RN Cruisers. The problem with this change isn't the fact, that ships close to the smoke can see you easier... You effing light up on the whole map for everyone probably, as normal detection rules surely will be used. So one ship close enough to spot you in smoke makes it possible for a sh**load of other ships to negate the smoke, too, and turn you into a sitting duck. And it's not like with sonar, radar and all the bugaloo it weren't that secure to sit in smoke anyway already. What really pi**es me off, is that this change is implemented because of effing "competitive gaming" which only a very small part of the players will ever do. So 99% of the players will face a nerf that only 1% of the players would need. But instead of implementing the change only on competetive level of course WG uses a shotgun technique again. And the only ships that won't suffer any negative effect - because in random play none of them used smoke anyway - are of course BaBBies... again... In fact, as they see the threats lurking in smoke now earlier, it is even a buff for BaBBies... great job, WG... one can trust You to fight the BaBBy flood with all buffs possible...
  21. Yeah, rub salt in my wounds... There might come a day, not today and maybe not soon either, when I will face a soloing SCRUB on the enemy team, who is matched up with potatoes all around him... and then revenge will be mine!!!!! *insert maniacal laughter here*

Premium ships V's Silver ships, P2W?

Nope... only IJN T5 was Minekaze, which got it's topedos nerfed, while both Kamikazes and Fujin kept the pre-nerf torpedos. That's one of the reasons, why Kamikaze (R) and Fujin are so effing dominant compared to other IJN DDs. Non of the three was ever a silver ship. They all came either through missions or the shop... Quite a while ago I was offered to buy a Kamikaze in the shop through an in-game offer on my sealclubbing alternate account... which of course I did immediately.
  23. I wish we hadn't... terrible non-fight by most of my teammates. As I wrote in chat already: "Potatoes versus SCRUBS isn't a fair fight..."
  24. Deckeru_Maiku

Anyone else think this is getting alittle boring?

Nah, WG bots are okay-ish... not a real competition, but at least better than many of those potato players you meet... I guess if more of those would use a properly designed bot program, the quality of the battles would really be enhanced.
  25. Corrected that for you... And it's especially funny, as this is true even for quite a few DD players, who have been torped by me at maximum torp range and after spotting me in my DD, which didn't keep them to sail straight on for another minute or so and get instantly obliterated by a torpedo hit. And I'm talking about ranges of at least 5 km or more... which also means, that those torps already are spread quite thin, when there's only 3x2 or 2x3 launchers being used...
