    The Master of Orion

Yet have to face one in battle, but as soon as I do, I will give a report Today sealclubbing intensified. My winrate took a severe hit, as I lost 33% of my three battles in the MOO today. Alas, this was made good by doing an average of 77k damage in those battles. The main reason that the MOO is such a great sealclubber seems to be the inability of the seals to change their modus operandi. I faced quite a few BBs again that only used AP, even when I came for them angled AND they aimed low getting many bounces and few hits. On the other hand, there were also many BBs that shot at my broadside with HE from less than 12 km range. Edit: Still I had no chance to fight against a Nikolai - the one I met was in my team - but I could go one on one against an October Revolution and that fight went quite well. She burned nicely and when she showed broadside I was able to punch nice holes into it and sink it. Angling did help a lot, but nonetheless my MOO took some damage, but I was able to repair a lot of it. Sealclubbing in the MOO wasn't that good today. I played like an utter idiot twice and did nearly no damage and got sunk early both times. The third battle went good though... average damage and winrate are down a notch... but still terrific.

OP ship is finnaly in the shop.

Like the Yubari the only thing keeping her from being a relentless DD killer is the small number of guns. But boy, can you cause panic in DDs when they get hit every couple seconds at 10+ km range

    Deepwater Torps?????????????

You mean @HardTarget_UK got statflamued, right?

On those Three Cap Maps the Katori gets to play I often start the battle by posting in general chat: "I will go from C to B to A and if I reach A my team will have won the battle." Usually the battle ends shortly before my Katori reaches A... but a few times I managed to reach my goal and usually those battles were wins And yes, the Fat Little Sister of the Yubari is a real lolboat. Like a few others... Campbeltown... Tachibana (the only real IJN DD Gunboat!)... St. Lucifer St. Louis to name a few.

    Katori

    Welcome to Fort Warspite!

Can't say I noticed any change with the Fat Old Lady Warspite. Still only got my 48k average damage and around 55% winrate... Yeah, having to go up against Bismarcks and Tirpizzas is a bit nasty... but at least there are now many yummy RN BBs to feast upon.

    The Master of Orion

I'm not really that good a player and I feel that I am especially mediocre when it comes to BBs. So I give my stats in T4 BBs first, so you maybe can understand better what I write then: Wyoming - WR 68% (17/25) - AvDam 48k - Hit% 24% Arkansas Beta - Winrate 52% (135/262) - Average Damage 38k - Main Guns Hit% 28% Ishizushi - WR 52% (49/95) - AvDam 38k - Hit% 27% Myogi - WR 43% (13/30) - AvDam 28k - Hit% 25% Kaiser - WR 40% (10/25) - AvDam 38k - Hit% 33% (couldn't get this ship to work somehow.. nice damage, but couldn't carry in it) and then... Orion - WR 82% (9/11) - AvDam 61k - Hit% 34% Yes, small sample size. Nonetheless in my not so humble opinion the Orion is the epitome of a sealclubber. And here's why: T4 MM means she never meets anything above T5. And the BBs she faces at T5 are not that much tougher than their T4 predecessors. As a RN BB she often uses HE, which makes life for DDs very interesting to say the least. And most cruisers can be easily citadelled with her HE and cripple the cruiser through the explosion damage at the same time many players you meet will not really have a clue about the mechanics. So most other Orion users will shoot HE exclusively and then face the fact, that Orion's AP can wreck them when they show broadside. So the Orion has all it needs to be a most effective sealclubber in the right hands. In the battles I played with her, I used quite a lot HE, but mostly to soften the enemy BBs up and to get cruisers get out of my way, as they usually like to be on fire even less than BBs due to not being able to repair. As a player who also plays a lot of DD I also often have a good idea of where DDs will lurk and how they will react when detected or shot at, which helps to eliminate them as a thread. Then, when enemy BBs try to make the utmost of all the guns they have and decide to go full retard broadside on me, they get stuffed with AP until they barf cry. Funnily enough though, when sailing around in my DDs or Cruisers I don't see the Orion as such a thread. She isn't very dodgy and so will eat torps and get damage that can't be repaired that easily. And with cruisers I shoot AP at her superstructure and do nice damage there. With other BBs.. well, just get ready to be set aflame and let them fires burn a while and wreck the Orion with AP... So as a result: Orion is a great sealclubber but not really OP - at least not against experienced opponents.

    Why is Gneisenau so worthless?

Always funny to see that some players say a ship is terrible and they don't get it to work, while others just seem to do good to great in it... For me it's a mix. Seems I often end up in terrible teams with my Gneisi, so it is one of the few ships I have with a < 50% winrate. But I do a really satisfying amount of damage in it. 32% hit rate for the main guns and 16% hit rate with torps ain't that shabby for me. Add to that, I enjoy playing battlecruisers - so the Gneisenau is a keeper for me.
  9. sooo... when it's winrate that matters, my Emerald has 69% WR - and who would want to play a rustbucket that explodes when someone looks at it angrily anyway
  10. Deckeru_Maiku

How to carry better in the current meta?

Oh... then here's another one: All the potatoes come out on the weekends (Friday afternoon to Sunday evening) so when You want to have a good chance of getting a proper team with only 50% of it being potatoes, then don't play when the potatoes play. My winrate usually goes down into the "horrible" region too on weekends.
  11. Deckeru_Maiku

RN BBs - HE meta sucks!!!

In my opinion, the whole fire mechanic needs an rework. Steel doesn't burn that easily and not all ships were made with decks made of highly flammable materials. Fires on deck probably were nasty, but the really bad thing were fires under deck, which isn't represented properly in game. I don't expect WG to change anything about the fire mechanics in total though. And I don't expect WG to change (much about) the BB fire chances. And IMNSHO there is no need for a change. BBs that exclusively shoot HE are victims. And ALL BBs have quite high chances to start a fire. Who would want to take away the chance to be ineffictive from all these Darwin Award Candidates who think they can win battles by shooting only HE
  12. Deckeru_Maiku

How to carry better in the current meta?

    - git gud... really, it helps - git even betta and carry games. Won't always work, cause 11 potatoes wreck every game, but at least you can try - the ship in which the best player has the control. CVs can do a lot of sinking and decide a game by it. BBs can do a lot of tanking and damage and win a game by it. DDs can do a lot of capping, area control and damage and win a game by it. Cruisers can't do much, but even they can manage to win a game by sinking DDs and capping and getting nasty to BBs - you can't do anything against borderhuggers on your team. Or Pussywagons. Just play every game as if all BBs were Pussywagons and don't rely on BBs doing anything in a battle - don't communicate. It's not worth it. 50% of the players don't even understand any civilised language and many probably aren't able to read anyway. Pinging on the map is just a nuisance, as it explains nothing and nobody cares about it anyway. So just play the game as if the team was made up of bots with you as the only real player. Which, if it was true, would often be an improvement, as the WG bots often play better than many of the potatoes... Hope this helps

RN BBs - HE meta sucks!!!

What HE-BB meta? Okay, with my Nelson I really enjoy setting stuff aflame left and right... and the Orion does it quite nicely, too. But when I see a nice phat broadside shown to me, out comes the AP And all those BaBBies using HE exclusively on their RN BBs are quite funny... I even had one of those in a Warspite (!!!) a while ago. Wasn't really that successfull though

    Concealment oddities

Pepsicola IS an oddity and not only due to concealment and range.
  15. Deckeru_Maiku

And that's why I run out of reports ....

@OP - absolute normal behaviour for at least 30% of the BBs I see in battle... not worth a report. My reports usually go to any ship that hasn't moved after 2 minutes in the game.

Is it time for DD to receive some love?

Big problem with that is, that in 75% of the cases when a BB tells the team where to go, it's player chooses the worst possible tactical option. Usually they pick a cap surrounded by nice high islands, so they won't get shot at when they found their camping spot... In my experience when playing DD it works like this: BB tells the team where to go. DD goes there. Enemy appears. No support and BB turning away without engaging. Recently there's two things I often write in chat: "Go to where the DDs go, but never eat the yellow snow!" and "The day I go to the cap that a BB orders me to go to is, when I see a BB competing for a cap." Hasn't happened yet, but well, there*s always the next battle...

    1000 points, is it enough?

Not sure why you need to start two threads about this, but here is my answer from the other thread - again:
  18. Deckeru_Maiku

Is it time for DD to receive some love?

It's been a while since I saw more than 4 DDs per side. Of course this comes from being a sealclubbing lowbob, who spends most of his time in Tiers 4 to 6, so I can't say much about DD numbers beyond that. And I have to admit, when sailing in a DD myself, seeing too many DDs on the map puts me out of my comfort zone. Three per side is okay and I can live with a 2 vs 3 or 1 vs 2, but when there's too many DDs the battles tend to get a bit hectical around the caps.
  19. Deckeru_Maiku

SPOTTING! Why it's too important to ingore!

@#1 - Happens all the time to me, when I'm sailing in a DD and the only other DD decides to shadow me. I usually try to drop it off somewhere and go the opposite direction... Had too many "friendly" torps coming my way already from these "shadows" @#2 - What? There's really BBs and Cruisers going to the other flank, instead of lemminging all to one flank?

    Incomming smoke nerf?

What? Is that really on PTS? What happens when the ship outside of your smoke does smoke up, too? Is it then magically spotted due to the special "smoke spotting bloom" rules? If this "bloom in smoke" spotting only works one way, AND what I fear is really programmed as noobish as to expect from WG something like this might happen: Leander sitting in her smoke, blind an oblivious to her surroundings. An enemy BB at 8 km away is happily shooting at a different target behind an island, which itself can't see the BB. As the BB isn't spotted by anybody it stays invisible for the Leander until... ...a nasty DD decides to give that BB some help by smoking it up. Momentarily it falls under the "bloom in smoke rules" and now suddenly is miraculously detected by the Leander, which itself can now fire from invisibility at the BB... If it will work THAT way, I guess I will use my DDs/RN CLs smoke very often to help any camping and island hugging BBs

We need to talk about RN BB's

Well, considering that the Nikolai and Albert can only terrorize a very small part of the WoW population and everybody is out of their reach within a couple battles, yes, they should start selling them again. Would be an interesting thing to see people swarm to the shop, buying Nikolais, only to get farmed by a silver T4 BB

    Shipcomrade needs our help!

hmmm... this "He had nothing as over a year ago he was scammed out of his home and everything he owned. The man who scammed him, sold the house and left state while he was in the hosptiol with a fratured hip." seems to happen a lot in the USA. Don't know, man, people shouldn't give away the papers of their property so easily to people they can't fully trust... I mean, he could have made sure that his son can take care of his property. Story makes you cry, though. Too bad I ain't got any money left, as the last I had went to that Prince from Kenia to make sure I get those UN millions...
  23. Deckeru_Maiku

    1000 points, is it enough?

Yes. 1000 pts usually aren't reached by capping, but by one team's brainless zombies yoloing into their doom. There's way more cases when the battle ends because of one team going down to 0 points due to losses, when one side is decimated early, and not by one team reaching the 1000 pts. So, again, yes - 1000 pts are enough. Makes sure you don't have to stay in such a potato battle longer than necessary.

No. DDL - would change the class for the Yubari, right?

We need to talk about RN BB's

Update: Only played one battle in the Orion today. Win 120k damage done 3 sinkers OMG! Of course it's a effing joy to sail around in this killer, but really WG, it's definately OP... in my not so humble opinion even more OP than the Nikolai or Prince King Albert. Over a span of 7 games I now have a 85% winrate and an average damage of 68k in it. And I don't even use it as HE spammer, but change ammo tactically - Cruiser or BB give me broadside, they get to eat some AP... and no, there weren't only babyseals around in those battles. A good number of players seemed quite experienced and had the usual amount of flags and proper camo etc. The fact that she won't meet anything above T5 adds to the sweetness. Most of the time you are top tier, with a nice menu of some T4 ships and a couple T3 thrown in as an appetizer. WG, nerf this ship please, or else it will make me go sealclubbing even more often!
