What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Normal Sunday again... go for Yamamoto campaign, so I pick a T8 ship Benson I'm not really good in US DDs and Benson is for me rather meh... 50& WR and 31k average damage... meh... end up - of course - in a T10 battle... with 4 DD per side.... *sigh* battlebattlebattlebattle.... don't do that much damage (67k) and don't even sink a ship... but manage to get two caps and hold one of them... end up with enough exp to be in the #2 spot of the winning team.... say whaaaaaat????? -
DD = "official" abbreviation for Damage Dealer in most MMORPGs Has nothing to do with the naval designation for destroyers. And in roleplayinggame definitions, the BBs would be kinda tankish, if they would do their job, while all other classes would be DDs (= damage dealer)

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Well, apart from the sound shift, which happened a couple hundred years ago (I guess) it is the same word, taken from the same root, the latin nasus. Well, unnecessary replacement of words of course is kinda dumb. Unless the new words maybe fits or sounds better than the original word, hai? Take Computer as an example. You would like us germans to use the german word Rechner for it instead. Sometimes we even do, but Rechner isn't the proper word for what a computer does. Rechner is a way more fitting word for an mechanical or electronical calculator, and for these the word is commonly (and properly) used. A Computer does not only calculate, but compute stuff. With calculating being the more basic process of getting sums and computing being the act of using complex formula to achieve a result. So Computer is a way more fitting word for what that thing does than Rechner could be. It's about the same with Spaghetti Bolognese. Of course we could call it Nudeln mit Hackfleischsoße (= Noodles with a sauce of chopped meat, which, in fact, isn't even a real sauce Bolognese, as that is not made with chopped meat, but I digress..) but would that really be better? I go totally d'accord with you, that using the english "softener" instead of the german - fitting and not really sooo bad sounding - Weichspüler (for the stuff you put into the washing machine to get the laundry soft and smelling good) is utterly dumb. BUT it's the industry who does it. And they have a good reason for it. Globalization. Even more fun are product names, that have made their way into all day life. Tempo for paper handkerchiefs. Coca for a certain range of softdrinks etc. And then there are all those neat little leanwords from our japanese friends (see above..) that are used so commonly all over the world and even in this forum. Do you dislike them, too? Or do you call a manga a japanese comic? Do you use the word hentai for a certain kind of manga perhaps? What about Futanari, lolicon and all the other stuff? Do you use finnish words for that, when talking about it? 'Cause I would bet, there are finnish words for all of it, as like there are german words for it, too.- 3,079 replies

I guess owning the Warspite is my problem with the QE. If I play her, like I play my Warspite, I get sunk very fast. And I mean really VERY fast. She eats damage from nearly everything and gets turned into a funeral pyre fast. Ok, the Warspite isn't a real example of toughness herself, but she feels (!) a lot sturdier. And he AP feels (!) to have more punch than the EQ's. Add to that the mediocre secondary guns and yu even have to fear DDs again... *shudder* So my plan is to get rid of the QE asap... I just can't make myself play her

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

9349 battles played... winrate of 55.04 % - grab a calculator and check how many battles we will need, to get me to... say... 60.00 % or so Sorry, but Schienenkanone just sounds scheiße... A bit like Gesichtserker instead of Nase (= Nose) which was supposed to be injected as "the real german word" during the 1000 years between 1933 and 1945. Some words aren't just "cool" enough today... and sometimes the german word doesn't even have the same meaning. Like cool. When something is "cool" it is not cold. But the german word "kühl" (which would be the proper translation...) is nearly entirely used for temperature and not to define the "coolness" of some clothes or music or whatever... So, in fact, cool has become a german word with it's own meaning, which will never be used to define temperature, as it can in english. And You should not forget, that the german language (like many other, english too...) already has a lot of words from other languages - french, latin etc. - integrated in it. The good old german word "Fenster" (= window) comes from the latin fenestra. The english still use window, which reminds a bit of the origin of the word "vindr auga" (wind eye) So trying to keep out all foreign language words from a language is so stupid, that only the french attempt it (and in fact fail at it, as french has sooooo much latin in it, that every selfrespecting celt is rotating in his grave when a french word is uttered).- 3,079 replies

Rewards for not torping allies at low tiers
Deckeru_Maiku replied to aquiles7389's topic in General Discussion
Sooo... you want to reward them for doing something that should be expected from everybody playing this game? Guess you would also reward students for being able to breathe without having to think about it, ey? The only thing that come to my mind when getting teamtorped by mentally challenged players is, that they should reveive at least a ban for a couple games for each torp that hits an ally... -

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Nah... playing division means I would play less games than I do solo... Why? Easy: when playing in Division chances are good to survive a battle to the end. And even if I get sunk before the end of battle, it would be the polite thing to not leave the division and wait for the battle to end.... When I play solo it's either survive to the end or get sunk and immediately start a new battle with a different ship. And as I get sunk often and early usually, that means many more battles when playing solo- 3,079 replies

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

The best thing is, we (ze germanz) even invent our own english words. Like Handy for a smartphone. Or - and that is the greatest joke - a fried chicken (Brathähnchen in real german) was called Broiler in the German Democratic Republic (the russian Besatzungszone ) - so a part of Germany, where kids were taught russian at school used a pseudo-english word for something, which was already properly named with a german word... And ze English go into german for quite a while already... just think of Blitzkrieg, Autobahn, Kindergarten and all those other little things they took from us. For some time already they even import our german Weihnachtsmarkt to Britain. But yes, the tendency to use unnessecary english words instead of their german equivalent is quite dumb. But kinda logical, considering that about every schoolkid is learning english at school for the last 50 years or so. And because of english being the main language of the world's trade system. So big companies often used english sounding nonsense words in their commercials and on the interwebz about everything good is done in english... so why not use that stuff in average day life, too?- 3,079 replies

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Okay, I have to do some advertisement here.... !!! SCRUBS IS GOOD FOR YOUR WINRATE !!! I got shanghaid into invited to 5CRUBS on the 9th of October. From the 1st to 8th of October I did 91 battles of which I won 59, giving me a 64.84 % winrate (all solo) and after getting 5crubbed: From the 9th to the 14th of October I did 56 battles of which I won 37, giving me a 66.07 % winrate (all solo, too) I only did 4 battles in 3 player division. All won. Added to the above that would make it 60 battles, 41 wins and a 68.33 % winrate So just being a member of scrubs made my winrate get better nearly automatically! That's what You get from being a 5CRUB!!!- 3,079 replies

Would love the Braunschweig for two reasons: Braunschweig is my place of birth and hometown for the first ~45 years of my life before going south and 4 x 28 cm (2 x 2 turrets, 18.8 km range), 14 x 17 cm (14.5 km range at 5 shots per minute) and 16 x 8.8 cm sound very nice... too bad she would never get the 6 x 45 cm torpedo launchers. And of course WG would castrate those ranges quite a bit... I already own the Mikasa and I LOVE playing her (once in a while...) It would be lots of fun if there were more lowest tier BBs (or Monitors etc.) around.

Best performing tier V BB in tier VII matchmaking
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Jvd2000's topic in Battleships
All them (ARP) Kongos... fast good gun range fast! Play it like a battlecruiser. Needs some brains and a bit of luck sometimes. But usually can do good... -
I have a dedicated 10 pts captain on my Katori and that's enough for a 56% winrate, an average damage of 36k, a top damage of 110k and six ships destroyed in a single battle Even in a T5 battele you can do a lot to annoy nasty DDs with the Katori Lazergunztm

I hate ALL russian ships, but I wouldn't waste a report of any of them that plays good or at least better than average. And reporting an enemy is a very rare occasion... usually my reports are used for /afk'ers and TK'ers or idiots on my team. Oh.. and Karma is a) useless and therefor b) overrated

Other classes are DD -> Damage Dealer. Except potato-played Cruisers though. They are canonfodder.

Easy solution to that: de-install the shitty mod that shows the winrate and extra data. -

Warspite probably still does the best damage against the smallest ships - DDs - if they are dumb heroic enough to go into it's secondary guns' range.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
If that is Joe Average, man I am soooo far from being average then I, too, think that the analysis of the damage the Conqueror does seems to be right on spot. Now they just have to do the same for the MOO (Master Of Orion) -
Quick thought: xp for blocking caps?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Admiral_noodle's topic in General Discussion
I think there is another undocumented and not shown by a little icon reward for keeping enemy ships from going into a Cap: You might win the battle because of it -
Yep, guilty as charged. Shooting at DDs because I've got HE loaded on my MOO most of the time. But when I see nice phat BB and Cruiser broadsides ahead, usually switch to AP. And still my average damage with the MOO is at 58k Yes, when one tries to use only damage to compare ships abilities he could as well just roll some dice instead.

In over 9000 battles I turned pink 4 or 5 times. Each time it was because I made a mistake. I never saw the need to rant in forum because of it. For me: System working as intended.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
If that was the case then I would have to join many clans Nah, it was purely because of all the oil that would get wasted when I get containers without being clanned. And me being too miserly to invest 1000 gold in a 1 man clan Thanks for the welcome... feels good to join the Dark Side tm- 3,079 replies

I'm an average player, too, and after the first 10 battles in the Orion I had a winrate of 85% (or so..) and 75k average damage... now, with 23 battles played, it is down to 69% and 59k. I bet the same will happen to You after a couple more battles and as soon as more people learn how to take down the RN BBs (with AP... lots of AP...) Exactly. Most noob Orions are only like a nice breakfast for experienced players. As long as you don't panic because of the fire, you can take them down in any other T4 BB. And most T4 Cruisers. And all T4 DDs. It's tricky with T4 CVs, 'cause Orion has decent AA, but a crossdrop from a Hosho takes a nice chunk of HP away usually... and torps - wait for repair - then bombs (or the other way 'round) do it nicely with a Langley, too. The biggest problem is, that too many people get wet and sticky underpants when high damage numbers show up. And most don't even register, that 30k fire damage against a BB don't really mean much, because of repair. And as a LOT of Orions damage in the server stats comes from fires, it isn't that far away from all the other T4 BBs in reality. I bet at least 20% of the damage given for the Orion in the server stats has been repaired. It IS quite OP vs. inexperienced cruisers though, as they can't repair the HE/Fire damage and really get hurt by all the modules getting damaged/destroyed
