The most fun fact is, that You are serious about this... Considering the amount of potato divisions I have seen in game, "teaming up with like minded potatoes" is in no way a guarantee for good stats. Two 40% winrate potatoes do not suddenly mutate into a 60% winrate division. Or as Gertrude Stein would say: "A potato is a potato is a potato is a potato"

Better playing experience in ranked???? Wow... must be my bad luck that my personal experience with ranked always was "just more competitive potatoes doing the same stupid stuff, but yelling more at other players being even more potatoish then themselves"
-
well, it gives me a warm and pleasant feeling to get that awkward experience off my back. And some people might even learn from it: Sometimes it's okay to eat some allied torps, when by that a potato is removed from the game. I nearly ALWAYS suggest going through the middle on Brothers... helps to see who the potatoes are in the team... everyone really stting course for the passage is not to be trusted.

Well, for me that Fletcher took playing bad to a completely new level... And I thought after 4 pages anything discussable about Gneisenau would already have been written by someone, so why not use the thread for something productive?

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
BBs have a main gun reload of ~30 seconds usually, right? So... when a BB loses 50% health with this skill it shoots (50 x 0.25 =) 12.5% faster. That reduces the reload to 26.75 seconds With 75% HP gone the reload is at 24.375 seconds So... what happens, when a BB takes damage, gets to shoot faster, but then heals up? Guns get slower again (I hope...)? Or can you get a total of over 100% damage by healing up again and again and then shoot salvos every 20 seconds? -
How would you improve the skill of player base?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Rautainen_Biisoni's topic in General Discussion
My way to go at the Potato Problem: As long as you have a win rate below 50% in total PvP battles (random, ranked, clan), you are only allowed to play PVE content and T1 to T3 PvP content. -
Had some very personal experience of someone playing bad today... Map: North T9 Battle and poor me in my Bismarck starting in the south-west. 4 DDs on each side 2 DDs went to A, 1 Dd went to C and a Fletcher rushed B. Some cruiser also went to B, but then diverted a bit east to hide behind an island, when an enemy DD started capping B. At that time I was trying to stay invisible and find a place from where to support our higher tier BBs effectively, so I sailed east about 15 klicks south of B. When faced with enemies, the Fletcher tucked his tail and turned directly south, starting to click frantically on me on the minimap. I turned north - still undetected and with nothing to shoot at in myline of sight - to see if there was something to engage at B. Fletcher shot a gun salvo at my Bismarck (doing no damage...). I continued north, then turned west as some enemy ships seemed to be getting into B Fletcher launched a torp salvo in the general direction of B, with the small problem of him being about 15 km away from B and me moving into his torp spread. I gladly took a torpedo hit and did not repair the flooding until the message came, that the Fletcher player got the TK penalty. When I saw a DD in B and two enemy BBs going in, I turned north-east again to get my soggy behind out of their LOS. Fletcher sent more torps, this time aimed at me. Took two more torp hits and Fletcher exploded... After repairing the marginal damage taken, I killed three enemy ships around B, capped B and managed to get a not to bad result - #5 or so on the winning side, #3 among the survivors - on a won game. 66k damage done and 3 kills sure isn't unicorn level in the Bismarck, but for my limited abilities it's okay-ish. More important is, that we won the game... Fletcher ended in the #12 spot with -1 kill (himself) and 200 exp or so.. all rage for nothing and no skill it seems...

The game has become totally unrealistic

afaik the average hit probability of BBs in WWII was at around 5% on everything than point blank range... wouldn't mind to see them as accurate as in reality in game, too... -
How is your Campaign "The Battle of the North Cape" doing (especially "Stage 5")?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well for me it's "no, I won't buy one... got a Gneisenau so I don't need a Sch'norst" and "the only ship I ever got from a container was a Krasy Kreme so getting a Sch'norst would be a logical consequence, but an as much wanted one" NO need to do that campaign... -

those war-reels didn't have to run on russian computers... Considering that probably a majority of WoWs players (at least in some regions *cougheasterncough*) have rather low performance PCs any increase in detail seems far off. -

Let iChase illustrate why I quit the game yesterday.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Enduro_Biker's topic in Off-Topic
After reading most of this thread I am extremely glad that I do not watch any game videos... (well, I watched a few.. one by flamu, which bored me, and a couple by IChase that were okayish but not enlightening and some others... and the one at the OP) Yes, I am a marginally better potato. Yes, watching videos to learn from them might make me a better player. But watching other people play a computer game is so [edited]boooooooring. And quitting because of potatoes in game? Nah.. at least sometimes there are more potatoes in the opposing team than in mine. And sometimes both teams are quite good even. And those battles are extremely enjoyable. Something like in the OP's video never happenend to me, though... well, not to that extreme... but seeing your team melt around you is normal... -
Then get closer to the enemy... the Big Booms look a lot better when closeup... and getting sunk is not more expensive than surviving the battle... For me it's most satisfying to get really cozy with the enemy, all guns blazing in all directions... and when I finally go down yell in chat at all the female cats behind me, who didn't support the push

Didn't say you're a bad player... only that 36k average damage is quite low (average damage for all Gneisenau players on WoWs Stats & Numbers is 46k, top 50% players do ~57k, top 25% do 63k) and still manage to win more often than me. And considering you survived 87 of 185 compared to 40 of 165 (me...) I seem to play much more stupidly aggressive than you and get nutbusted because of that.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Don't think there will ever be grphics that make me think that I'm a ship... And the really "immersive" stuff, like people getting shredded into little bits and bodyparts flying around will never come, due to the game being intended also for < 18 year old players... -
Weird... measly 36k average damage done in battle, but a 59% winrate.... and I do barely ~56k per battle with my Gneisi and only get 48% winrate (close to being the lowest among the ships I still play). @Excavatus: As people wrote, You either love or hate the Gneisi... I really like her, even though I'm not too successful in her. But the times when a potato in a Tirpitz thinks he can own you, just to get sunk after eating some citadels and torpedoes are soooo rewarding. Add the good AA to that, which can frustrate same tier CVs and you have a nice package... I - personally - wouldn't go for "Manual Secondaries" though, as I rather have the ability to let both broadsides shoot simualtaniously instead of having only one going for a single target... but that's me and I'm a special snowflake anyway...

How is your Campaign "The Battle of the North Cape" doing (especially "Stage 5")?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Soooo... Stage 5... First I tried to go for "11 RN Torp Hits" - took awfully long in Leander and Gallant... Added the "Sink 10 BBs" to that... cursed every time when someone killed the BB I got down instants before my final salvo connected... Went for the "75k Exp" then. And another 10 BBs, because it seemed easier to sink BBs than to score torpedo hits?!? Got it done today. So now 45k exp are left... tomorrow and monday I guess should do that. The good thing is, I don't give a flying eff about the Shimaswhateveritiscalled "6 ship giveaway" missions, as a) I got them all (except the PADD) and b) I don't have a Sch'norst (and no intent to buy it). So I can concentrate on the DoY missions to get the needed containers for the DoY's Snowy Camo. -

And now imagine if your team would have lost... ~400 exp or so as a reward for nearly 200k spotting damage? So, again: IGNORE EVERYTHING - ONLY DAMAGE COUNTS FOR XP!- 34 replies

afaik (!): points are awarded only when a cap is fully taken. No rewards for going in, staying a bit and going out again before possession of the cap has been taken only the first three ships in the cap get a reward (?) you get rewarded for the time you spent in the cap circle not sure if the ship initiating the cap gets a larger reward- 34 replies

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, Warspite can kill most DDs easily when the get themselves spotted within 7 klicks or so... Sometimes the Fat Lady has to show them her big behind and start wiggling it a bit, so the torps miss her and her secondaries can do their job... Usually doesn't work that well against DD players who have done the "Monty Python's Lesson Of How Not To Be Seen 101" -
Why doesnt WG like new, casual players?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Grandorf's topic in General Discussion
If You love playing cruisers, You should love having many DDs in the battle... they are your breakfast, dinner and supper... -
From April "LittleWhiteMouse" @LittleWhiteMouse - "Spotting, Scouting and Experience Gains"
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Bottom line: Everything except damage done is neglectable. Shoot DDs first for most XP. Even more so when they are higher tier. As someone who loves to play DDs this has been obvious for an eternity. Spotting isn't rewarded properly. Capping - unless you manage a full cap - isn't rewarded properly. Keeping the enemy from capping isn't rewarded properly. And people really wonder why DDs often rather go for the kill than for "playing for the team"???- 34 replies

Nothing in the recipe that I couldn't get locally. Not sure about the Rindernierenfett / cattle suet, but our local butcher still does his own butchering, so I guess I could order it from him... I just don't know WHY I would make a mince pie... I wouldn't even have a penny to put in it...
