What's the use of the Target Acquisiton System Modification 1?

But we don't need anymore DD nerfs. And this would be one. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
That probably wasn'r because of You, but due to all the other players playing like female cats all the time... Sorry that I missed Your invitation today.. seems You sent it when I was just getting in a battle, and when I was finished You were in battle already... Again some good and some utterly bad battles today. First was the daily "get me some exp for the next upgrade" battle in the Lyon. Somehow I don't like this ship. I hate it, when I have to play against it, and I can't really get it to work... got sunk after doing measly 43k damage, but the team won the game... Next battle was in the "I need some more exp for Jean-Jaques Honore" Normandie. As much as I loathe the Lyon, I can only love the Normandie... 67% winrate and 59k average damage seem to tell me, that I'm doing not to bad in her... Today it was a win with 2 sinkers and 112k damage done... and a frustrated Ryujo, who managed to get one (!) torpedo hit out of 4 (or 6?) TB squads sent against me. Most other games weren't that exciting... except for the ones in my Kamikaze. In the first, there were four DDs per side. And of course I stated, that I hate it to play with so many DDs in a battle. Someone assured me, that after 3 minutes most of them would be sunk. Well, he was kinda right... after 4:12 minutes played I got sunk... but not without having sunk two enemy DDs first... too bad all the three other DDs from my team were sunk, too... game ended in a loss... On the second game, there were even five TDs per side. And it was a T7 battle... so again I complained about too many DDs... and I told my team, that I would probably get sunk immediately without doing any damage, but that they would win the game... It came it bit different though. When competing for a cap, I fired my torps in the general path of an enemy Akatsuki (who hadn't managed to spot me) and was lucky to one-shot (or rather one-torp) him. After taking that cap, I saw a straightsailing New Mexico and a short while later that one went Boom too without seeing me. I managed another sinker before I went down... and the game was won. The last battle of the day was - tradition! - a loss with 63k damage done and two sinkers in the Crispy Creme. Though my winrate in her isn't that good, it's just too much fun to plink away at every enemy who shows up in her range... 21% hit rate with the main guns is terrible, but considering that it's done from maximum range with very liitle time passing in the game without me firing them guns... last battle came with 120 hits or so... and I guess I shot around 400 times... -

The problem isn't that it's with girls... the problem is, that it is with utterly unfunny girls. If there had been Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore instead of the probably unfunniest females in Movies right now, it would have been a perfect movie. -
1469 battles in BBs 1500 battles in all other classes (some probably quite a while ago (DDs...)) Of course he wants rewards for raw damage...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I made it a rule to never ever let one of them dirty 5CRUBS, SCRUBS etc. live when one shows up on the enemy team... or at least I'll try my best to sink'em! I had two mediocre battles in the Lyon today (one win / one loss). And two mediocre battles in the Ibuki (one win / one loss). After these there were seven won battles... some not so great ones and a few nice ones... 89k damage done and two sinkers for my Arkansas B 91k and four sinkers in the Kamikaze R against a team with two Kamikaze R... I sank one, the other one got me... but in total they sank also four ships. So I guess I got the sealclubber award 94k damage and two sinkers in the Yubari. A lot of that damage came from dinging away happily at an Orion... in the end I got a bit too greedy and got sunk though (by a Danae... a Danae!! At least I sunk him before I got torpedoed by him...) 30k and 3 sinkers in the Vampire.(now at a 77% winrate over 35 battles with 32k average damage... nasty little Vampire...) and only 42k in the Normandie... but I had lots of fun evading the torpedoes and bombs the enemy CV send in my direction. Yeah, I'm a lousy sealclubber, doing statpadding against all those other sealclubbers at the low tiers... -

Someone has to say it: Can I haz u'r stuff, pls? -
I didn't call you a potatoe... I only wondered how you could state "T10 = guarantee for skill" and really meaning it... And yes, you might think it is safe to state, that a T10 player is "likely" to know how to play. From my personal experience with T10 players I can say, that it is rather unlikely. I've seen way more utter potatoes in T10 ships than in any lower tier ships. And yes, there are lots of straightsailing potatoes, who sit in smoke and wait for torpedoes (especially in a BB, who then wonder how they could be seen in smoke, while blasting away with their main guns happily).
-
It's the player, not the ship. And considering your stats with cruisers of any tier are below average of those of other player's cruiser one tier lower, I expect you to hit T8 ranked like a bomb (= exploding a lot...) @threadstarter: Potatoes gravitate to BBs mostly. Better skilled players often see playing cruisers as harder than playing DDs, so they flock to DDs instead. That leaves few players to play cruisers at T8 ranked... If one is really good in a cruiser - which I ain't - one can do good with a cruiser in ranked.

Season 9 Tier 10 - Why am I so bad?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Up_The_Donald's topic in General Discussion
In my not so humble opinion it's a streak of "being not so good and then also getting potatoed by the MM" which happens to many people. People assume that all players at T10 aren't potatoes, because, hey, T10.... but in the end the percentage of potatoes at T10 is probably higher than at the lower tiers, because all potatoes have the goal to "reach the final tier to prove they are skillorz" while people who play for fun rather play at the tiers were they are successful (= not potatoish) And in ranked, the number of potatoes per team is even more important than in normal "random" battles. Unicorns might be able to make up for getting teamed with a potato or three, but most normal players can only hope to get fewer potatoes on their team than there are at the enemy team... So in the end it's the same for you as for most other "average" players: just pray to RNGesus for few potatoes (and offer a virgin, ten goats or whatever you deem fit) and play through this streak. Sooner or later it will break. Probably later, though. -
~1700 battles at T8 and above 21 battles at T10 still manages to state the above with a straight face winrar!!! Seems You play an utterly different game than I do. When getting upgraded into a T10 battle I usually see more potatoes in T10 ships than I ever meet at the mid-tiers. Honestly, why do people still assume that it takes skill to reach T10 ships - or rank 10 in ranked... - when all it takes is time and ignorance of one's own potatoness? If I had wanted to, even I could have a T10 in my harbour already, possible more...

Team Damage penalty and Torpedos.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Spartican93's topic in General Discussion
I use every chance I get to teach people to not shoot torpedoes in the (possible) direction of an ally. Like today... Battle was nearly won already, only two enemy St. Louis' (the T3 one) and a single BB were left. The St.Louis's were going down near the map edge, far away from our cap - standard battle - with a BB and a cruiser of our team nearby. Enemy BB was attacked in it's own cap by a DD from our side... So I set course to support our DD and get a bite out of that cap (and maybe the BB too) in my Vampire. Shortly before I arrived at the cap, the BB went down. And when I entered the cap, our DD launched two full spreads of torps in my general direction. I slowed down, but only managed to get hit by one - which I couldn't have evaded if I had tried... I just failed at getting hit by more - but I didn't get sunk by the damage, as it was only around 4k or so. Enough to turn the other DD pink immediately and - tadaa - to reflect all the flooding damage to him... He started explaining and whining and begged me to repair... and when I asked him why he torped me in the first place, he explained that he misclicked (!!!) as he wanted to shoot his guns (!!!) at the island behind me. Okay... shooting guns by clicking on the icon? Naah, dude, you deserve to sink... When I still declined to repair, he said "then I'll torp you again..." and tried to - except the still sinking enemy BB was between us (I had taken special care to have it as cover ) and his torps didn't do anything.. Shortly later he sank due to reflected damage... and I repaired. And the last enemy ship got sunk maybe 30 seconds or so later... Feels good man! -

Well, I was in BB, and near the enemy cap, so no chance for me not to ignore enemy DDs close to our cap... Just met @allufewig on my team in his Garuda Mama (or whatever that DD is called) while doing my final battle of the day in the Crispy Creme. It was a win which we both didn't live to see.. I got sunk a bit later then him, but he scored better than me. -

Just met @T0byJug who was trying to do some sealclubbing in his Kamikaze. I was in my fake Kongo (ARP Kirishima) training Yamamoto... I ended with the better potatoes in my team. The two DDs that managed to cap were #1 and #2 in the score, me ended up sunk but as #3. T'was nice to banter with you, T0by, and never forget to deliver some ketchup with them eels! -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Its okay for a testrun... or Co-Op but at least my IJN DD captains have skillsets totally unfit to be used with the Yubari, so I gave her a dedicated captain a while ago. As it is, a T4 isn't really that useful as a trainer for the later cruisers anyway (low exp etc) What I want my Yubari captain to have are Preventive Maintenance (you only got two main turrets - you have to make sure you keep them) - 1 pt Last Stand because Yubari's engine has a Shell Magnet built in - 2 pts Demolition Expert (extra Fire means extra damage) - 3 pts Concealment Expert (helps to stay alive longer to slip out of sight again after shooting) - 4 pts Basic Firing Training (no use for the main guns, due to them being 140mm (1 effing mm too large) but AA gets helped a bit) - 3 pts Advance Firing Training (same as before.. AA benefits from it) - 4 pts The last two would go into Expert Marksman to speed up the turret transfer a bit. Skills are listed by my priorities... You can manage quite well with a 10 pt captain... and yes, the first four skills would work with IJN DDs too, I'd say.. only after that the road splits into different directions. Don't use Manual AA Control, as there's only one 120mm gun that would benefit from it and the advantage would be less than marginal! Edit: using the Aiming System Modification 0 Upgrade is vital!!!! -

Methinks a DD captain isn't the best choice for a Yubari, but hey, I'm only playing it for 438 games since beta Yubari is awfully good at kiting the enemy and dinging away with HE from maximum range because of lazer gunz accuracy, all the time wiggling it's behind to dodge incoming shells. I would guess, that in Random you won't be able to really effectively use those torps, due to the horribly launch arc, which makes you show your broadside to your target. Most players see that as an invitation to delete you from the battle, especially as the torp range is quite low, too. I have sunk about 3 times as many ships by guns/fire than with torpedoes in my Yubari's career. Your result is quite close to my best in Random battles - 144k damage, 6 sinkers and 24 planes shot down (not sure of the planes were downed in the same battle as the ships, but I guess they were) so yes, against T4/T5 CVs the AA of the Yubari can still be very nasty. Especially, if You manage to go hunting for the CV and he tries to keep you from sinking him... -
Reservations against a Bloom-based CV action-scheme design
Deckeru_Maiku replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
Base Ship (= CV) Up to x squads with different ways to do their job... One player... Anyone seeing a possible problem of how this would be supposed to work in "action mode"? When You only can control one squad at a time, how would one do a "hammer&anvil" attack? Or uses fighters to keep the enemy fighters from molesting the bombers when they drop their loads? Would be about the same, as if the player would have to choose each turret of a ship manually to aim it, shoot it and reload it... lots of "action" but an utterly stupid mechanic. Of course, as a way to keep players from playing CVs at all, such an "action concept" might work... and with no CVs in the game, there won't be any need for further balancing. Which of course makes certain setups for ships - Cleveland AA setup anyone? - also utterly useless... Instead of changing the way CVs work completely, there should be just some modification on how AA works - and a slight reduction of effectiveness maybe - and the strafing skill should be removed, as it is the main reason for unicorns dominating not so unicornish players that much. A good player with some clicking skill being able to utterly destroy enemy plane groups - helped by a mediocre UI that sometimes doesn't want to do what the player commands it to do - has just too much influence on a battle. Fighter actions should be more randomised and the strength of fighters should be more equal. And for more options on bomber squads, why not implement different drop mechanics, where not only the angle of attack has to be chose, but also the starting height of the plane squad? In reality, TBs were a lot easier to defend against than DBs, due to the fact that they had to come in low and slow (until technical advances allowed for steeper torpedo drops..) whereas the divebombes attacked from way above, which made it hard for some AA guns to even reach them due to the angles they yould be set up to. So setting TBs to either go in slow and low (greatest effectiveness, but high loss of planes chance) or fast and steep (lower chance to lose planes, but torps might explode prematurely..) and a similiar mechanism for DBs could be an option. And if the "Bloom" concept is about planes dodging the AA bubbles and the player's skill in recognizing these bubbles and proper targets is to make the difference, a reduction in effectiveness of bombers by giving them a higher rate of losses due to attack type and less tight drop patterns could be a solution. But I'm sure I can trust WG to find a "solution" that will utterly eff up CV gameplay and in the end will change nothing, as some players will be able to play good with it and others won't and many will just stop playing CVs... -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
That might explain it... only met him like 3 or 4 times in game and none of those could be counted as "good games" for him. Or in the one case where he was on the same team as I, a good game for the team... -
What is the point of the karma number?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to RubyCookies's topic in General Discussion
Well, my highest Karma (...that I noticed) was ~18 pts. Right now it's around 0-ish for different reasons. I often get a wee bit salty in chat (...but never got chatbanned?!?) and I seem to have a tendency to either utterly fail or play like a unicorn, which both both has a good chance to get you negative karma. And considering that I very often leave a battle as soon as I got sunk and start a new battle in a different ship, there is little chance to see when I was complimented or "punished" or at least for which battle it happened. In the end, Karma is utterly useless, apart from giving the players the option to vent some frustration by using the report option and thinking "HAH! Now he loses Karma. That will teach him!!!" which of course it doesn't... -
CV's current state and population - an analysis
Deckeru_Maiku replied to IBloomJustForYou's topic in General Discussion
I ain't playing much CV nowadays (compared to before the "split" between ships that can and those that can't strafe - which for me is the utterly gamechanging "skill" that has the greatest influence on Unicorns melting Amateurs at will) but if WG plans something like "control each plane squad in away comparable to a flight simulator" I will probably never ever touch CVs again. I have played a bit World of Warplanes and if CV play will be anywhere like that............. nope. Not me. No thanks. And I guess quite a few players will drop CVs when "3D plane combat" is implemented. -

I must say that I am utterly devastated! Orion has been terribly nerfed! In my (T5) battle in her today I fired a full three (!!!) salvos in a row and didn't sink anything... Okay, in the end I had managed 104k damage, two sinkers and 7 shot down torpedo bombers... Call me torpedo dodger, btw... enemy CV (Hosho or Zuiho.. don't recall) managed a total of 1 (!!!) torpedo hit on three attempts (with both torpedo bomber squads) to get me. Nonetheless: that Orion nerf is horrible!!! -

Smallest random battle I ever had was a standard battle with me in my Mikasa + two DDs against a cruiser and two DDs. The enemy made the mistake to charge our cap. I managed to hit the cruiser at long range with Mikasa's main guns (!!!) and damaged his engine... which helped getting him torped by one of my team's DDs One enemy DD thought it was a jolly good idea to go in and try to torp a Mikasa from close range. I ate an eel and he fell to Mikasa''s secondaries... And the last enemy ship got focussed in our cap and went down rather quickly. That battle really didn't take long...
