61% winrate today (after 20% the two days before) so yeah, it was okay-ish... had I stopped after the first four battles, it would have been 100% ^^

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Soooo... I played 10 battles on Nov 1st and 2nd and managed to win 2 (!!!) battles. Especially the Edinburgh turned out to be a nightmare.... Then today I did some more battles - 21 total *cough* - and lost 8 of them. Still makes it a 61% winrate day (says WoWs S&N) To retrain my Ibuki captain for the Zao - now in myport - I put him on the Southern Dragon and was rewarded by being called a "money warrior..." after torping a brit DD playing sitting duck in his smoke and AP'ing the sh*t out of an Algerie.. Had quite some fun in that ship - it even glows in the dark!!! - and ended with two wins, 66k average damage, four kills (total) and a 3525 wows S&N PR In the Bismarck I got my first win of the day (85k damage and a sinkered Yamato ^^) before I went CoOp with her for two battles to do some Missionary stuff... didn't turn out well though, as the bots died even faster than the potatoes in random battles. Also had a 96k damage Musashi battle (3 sinkers, win) in which I sunk all enemy radar ships in a "three radars vs. our zero radars - we gonna lose" battle. Had some bad battles too, but nobody wants to read about those I guess... Oh... and a fun battle in my Yugumo on Neighbours (Domination battle) where I first went to A coming from the north, but having to retreat first 'til "the cavalry" arrived. Managed to sink a straightsailing cruiser *giggles* and then capped. Just when I started to B I noticed an enemy DD SW of A and turned to intercept it. An allied Gneisenau rounded the SW island near C in the other direction, so the DD got caught in the corner, alas he had a small island to hide behind. I sent two salvos of torps past both sides of the island and followed them. Slowly the enemy DD came out of hiding, after sending some torps at the Gneisenau, from which came a not so nice command (!!) at me to spot for him. No need for that. I hit that DD with my guns a couple times, dodged a torp spread coming my way and then finshed it off with my guns... Gneisenau seemed a wee bit miffed and shot near me, making shure he missed me though.. He even bothered me after the battle in chat and now sits on my blacklist... Didn't do loads of damage in that battle, but two sinkers and a win is okay for me.. Oh... and I managed to gather 3 Karma today, making the total... uhm... I guess 0 already again... *shrug* -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
met @_Helmut_Kohl_ in a ranked today. Made a joke about his nick, got no reply.. lost the battle and gave no Karma as he was in the winning team. -
everything from 8 vs. 8 down is okay with me... although a 1 vs 1 might get a bit tough... but could also be fun... like a 1 vs. 1 DD fight on a domination map... all those choices... ^^
-
Whenever I play my DDs I don't read the chat... or at least I ignore any "go to xxx" commands (!) that mostly come from BBs (!!) or sometimes answer a "Cap A/B/C/whatever" with a "Okay, go ahead, I'll be right behind you..." when it came from a BB So yeah, I want to keep standard battle.

I even managed two losses in CoOp... two out of 173 battles. One in the Mikasa... probably one of the first battles I did in her. And one in the Furutaka after she got changed... had a disconnect in that battle and was dead when I could enter the game again.. and the team was losing against the bots... I only do CoOp when I try out a new ship "to get a feel for it" or when there's stupid missions to do. For me, there's about zero fun to be had in CoOp, because it's just way too easy. Bot DDs still can't use smoke - they puff up and sail straight ahead out of it... and the bots are way too predictable... But even then there might be teams that lose against those bots without it being an "accident".

As I had some stomach problems yesterday, I, too, consumed an Ouzo... stomach got way better after that. edit: oooh... someone is revenge-downvoting my posts because I gave one of his a thumbs-down... now isn't THAT grown-up *lol*

I managed to set up an IKEA couch without any troubles... And in the game I did my first - and only - tour in a sub, getting five stars without doing really much... Only had time for a few more battles after that. Had a loss in the Izumo... Took my Kamikaze for a ride and ended up in a T7 battle... ah, well... one T7 BB, Cruiser and DD each, couple T6 and lots of T5, including a Kamikaze on the enemy team. When the enemy pushed to hard on the eastern side I was at, I went for the middle of the map, trying to torp a Kongo on the way there and missing it, but insta-killing the Kamikaze, that I hadn't even spotted. Lucker, yes, that's me... After that I managed to stick five torps in that Kongo, but didn't sink it... but it was downed by an allied BB... Managed to sink a König though, by sticking some torps in it. Also did a bit of capping... so two sinkers, 98k damage, 4420 WoWs S&N rating... normal Kamikaze on T7 match... And I ended in aT7 match (Domination on Neighbours) with my Krasny Krim... annoying enemy BBs and DDs at maximum range, sinking an Aoba and harassing a Leander out of it's smoke, so I got sunk by an ally... In the end I got sunk by the last surviving enemy ship - a New York - that needed four salvos to sink me, while I sailed more or less straight ahead at it... three salvos missed me, when I already way below 100 hp *giggles*. A minute after I went down, the game was won when that New York got sunk, too... -
Can't really be that bad... I've got 459 battles in T9 ships (my highest tier yet...) and managed a 56.86% winrate in them (Fletcher, Musashi, Ibuki, Izumo and Yugumo) Nonetheless here some tips ofhow to have fun in the game: Play low/mid-tier random battles. Less static, less potatoes, more fun... don't play CoOp, as you will find out that some potatoes can even lose to bots... and then you will be REALLY frustrated...

halloween Submarines! Submarines everywhere!
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Tuccy's topic in General Discussion
Did only one battle and without doing that well got five stars... With all those subs trying to get to torps something it wasn't easy to even get a straight shot out without having to fear that one of those enraged chickens would get in the way. Will be interesting to see how subs would work in a real battle... -
I am a Musashi owner and have to say, I don't give a flying eff about how much (or few) credits I get (or don't get) for playing her... Credits is about the least problem people should have in this game. Except when You are playing exclusively the "final price tier that shows I am a good player" ships... You need credits -> go to medium tier and get some.. it's easy there if you're even only an okay-ish player... doesn't even need premium ships, flags whatever... credits just come rolling in...

Top tier matches don't feel like ships anymore
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Viravandrel's topic in General Discussion
Using an afk DD or cruiser asa torpedo shield is another great option... Just push him along in front of you and damn the torpedoes! Fun fact: I have encountered discussions like this about people "being forced to camp due to meta" in about any other MMOG I've played before, as soon as it was getting the least bit competitive. Oneof the reasons why I made sure to avoid those Battlegrounds in "World of Warcraft" - way too many people camping there, due to the fear of being killed... instead they rather take a loss by playing ineffective and passive than actively trying to achieve a win. In most cases, these games gave rewards also for lost battles. One of the examples of giving the most rewards for lost battles is World of Battleships Warships, where a potato shooting ineffectively HE at enemy BBs can do so much damage without achieving any tactical advantage, that he ends up in the #1 exp spot of the losing team, making him think he "haz dun gud". Rewarding damage done as the greatest factor for gaining exp instead of rewarding "doing your job and making sure the battle is won" imho leads to these situations, where everybody and his uncle sits in cover, sniping to do a bit more damage than the other campers beside him, hoping to get enough exp to finally lose his way to get the "final goal" (= the utterly heroic T10 ship every real player has to have). But again, WG will never ever change the concept they have, as it keeps the potatoes in the game and they are the ones paying the most for the game in their hunt for the final reward... the proof that they are "doin gud"... the T10 ship... As a matter of fact, I'm okay with that... other than most people in this thread, I am quite okay with T10 consisting only of boring campfests between potatoes and a handfull of skilled players. As it is, I prefer to play low/mid tier for fun and only do T8+ battles for the missions needed to get certain achievements/captains/other rewards... Alas, it also keeps me from spending any more money for this game... pay real $ (or rather €) to get a T8 ship that offers only boring campfests? Not really, right? -
Top tier matches don't feel like ships anymore
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Viravandrel's topic in General Discussion
I think over time there already have been quite a few very sensible proposals for change made by the players. Can't remember one that WG then implemented. Instead they came up with mostly dumb stuff, that didn't change anything to the better, except for potatoes being able to potate to the very end of the game... To stop people - mostly BBs - from camping, shallow regions around islands could be implemented. Or enlarged in the few cases where there still are some. Then reduce the - in reality mostly impossible - ability to "backpedal" with a ship. Reduce to a speed of 1 knot or so, that when s player manages to ram an island, he still can get away from it without having to call in a tug boat. But make it hurt... really hurt... hurt so much, that anyone would rather go forward into enemy fire than to be stuck in a position where he can't even use his guns to hit anything but an island. Considering that it's probably the potatoes who pay most for "success" (= getting to T10) in this game, all these are of course illusionary and will never be implemented... -
Anybody remembers the movie about the box that gave a family $ 1.000.000 when they would press the button, but also make a random person on earth die because of it? That's a button I would immediately press... If it was on to forgive someone torping me "accidentially" it would end up unused by me... So, nice idea, but even if it would get implemented I would never use it. Been pink due to risky torpedoing myself, apologised, got pink and played CoOp 'til the colour went away... didn't hurt me at all..

I wasn't in that battle - I hope - but as I'm allergic to orders, I wouldn't have followed it either... and from what I know, there's quite a few people in the game with the same allergy, so you might want to get used to ordering people to do what you want usually shows little success... ^^ -
Top tier matches don't feel like ships anymore
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Viravandrel's topic in General Discussion
My only experience in High Tier Battles comes from getting upgraded in my T8/T9 ships and I can only agree a100% to what the OP posted. Which doesn't keep me from pushing like an idiot when I'm in a battle with any of my BBs. Often to some success.. but often also to find a lonely un-assisted death... What I don't agree to is, that it is "the meta" that makes people play like they are mentally challenged. Meta has nothing to do with it. It's pure potatoism... Often the team that agrees to push and does it properly wins the battle, while the island huggers kemp only to lose... So the main problem that I see with high tier battles, is that even players worse than me - and I'm only mediocre - can get there by just playing enough losing battles without the need to learn anything about tactics. Add to that the amount of people that go "I'm just here to have fun shooting my guns and listening to the great sound effects" is also way too large. So though I agree that those changes OP would like to see are nice and would love to see them in game, they won't change anything. And yes, map design - especially those "re-made maps" - like islands of ice - are looking way too much like WoT maps for me, too... all to make the game easier for the paying potatoes.. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Ok, have to start with the yesterday stats.... After the first six battles I had a straight 100% winrate... solo... random matches... and some nice battles done... should have stopped then... in the end I still had a 55% winrate after 18 battles, but there were some really horrible battles among that. Good battles I had in the Admiral Hippster (win, 72k damage) and Izumo (win, 83k damage) but both came without any sinkers done... One game I could have had great stats in... Edinburgh on Neighbours Domination, starting south-east. Went to A cap accompanying a DD. An enemy DD pushed ours out of the cap, so I sneaked around the island 'til I had him in sonar range and finished him off... just to see torps appear behind me from my "allied" DD. No warning.. no "sorry" just getting sunk by that ret.... menatlly challenged player with several hundred DD games under his belt... and he isn't even a potato, but a real average 52% or so player. Feels Batman... So as a result I ddin't expect much for today. But it seems, RNGesus wanted to reward me for my patience the day before... six of seven battles won (85% winrate) and some real fun ones among them... like... T10 battle, Domination on Shatter (starting south-east) in my Bismarck. Seven T10 and one T9 ship - Cruisers and BBs mostly - saw me sailing up to the C cap, getting around it whilebeing shelled by a Minotaur, that ate a citadel in response... A cap was fought for and B & C were already taken by the enemy at that point. So before it could turn into an island humping competition I decided to effing push the sh*t out of that battle... The second Bismarck on our team followed me and when I turned the corner the Cleveland I knew was waiting for me poor dude.. no torps... - was my first target, with a Montana sending shells at me from the horizon. Took a while to get that Cleveland sunk, so then I turned towards B - still in enemy hands - and towards the Minotaur that still hid there. A DD showed some suicidal attitude by first trying to torp me and then waiting in his smoke for me to get closer... Turned my bow to it and steamed straight at him, even though my sonar was still on reload. Before Icould take care of that DD the enemy Minotaur showed itself, coming at me through the DDs smoke and sending torps... but so badly, that I could dodge all of them and return some love to the Minotaur in the form of a well placed salvo that sank it... the DD tried to retreat, but failed... He bravely (and again sucidal) ducked behind the island north of B, then started to shimmy back, just to get caught by my no longer reloading sonar and some secondary (and a main gun) shell(s) and the killing shot by an allied cruiser. On the other side of the island waited a Worcester, and as I couldn't remember if it had torps, I just kept it within my somar range to let others wreck it... which didn't take long. So after capping B, I made my way north, right into the sight of an enemy Richelieu. Charging it like a musketeer I took some hits, but after the first salvo the Ritchie decided to swap to HE... yeah, give me loads of that, friend... got some heals left... while I aimed for superstructure and guns with AP until I had a nice look at a french broadside, that looked very inviting and immediately got penetrated for some big boom... Soon after that the battle ended. With 152k damage done, 3 sinkers a cap (or two?) and a 5178 WOWs S&N rating I was quite satisfied but still astonished to find myself at the #1 spot of the winning team... with all those T10 ships behind me... wowza... Another - for me - impressive game came in my Kamikaze (Domination on Fault Line, starting north-west) when I sailed towards the A cap (the western one...) to run into two enemy DDs and a cruiser... luckily for me all of them weren't very skilled, so I managed to torp one DD and then turned north to run away... zzzzing... screen freezes.. Had to reboot windows and get back into the game, which took me a minute or so... To my astonishment I was still alive, alas far from the cap.. Engage the speed boost and get back into battle... After helping a BB to cap A we turned towards the enemy held B and my real battle began... In the end I managed two more sinkers and ended the battle with three sinkers, only 38k damage done, a win and a 2471 WoWS S&N rating. And there was a 81k damage, one sinker (BB) battle in my Brick'ish Edinburgh giving another win... So yeah, RNGesus was kind to me today, giving me good allied players, competitive battles and some successes... -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Played her tons in the Beta -so I only did a marginal number of battles in her when the game started "for real" and I just needed to "get past" her. So.. 25 battles - that's when I grandfathered her - with 68% winrate, 48k average damage and 1.52 average kills... At that time, it really was sealclubbing, with all the really new and inexperienced players around. Still not a bad ship... -
From my experience with those Terribles in enemy teams I can add that they explode nicely... can only talk from a Cruiser/BB experience though... although... I think one managed to straight-sail into some Yugumo torps even after spotting me... So... as a small reminder: no ship is better than it's commander's skill allows... and certain ship usually attract very special commanders...

Too lazy for all this "screenshot and paste" stuff, so you'll have to believe what I write her or check my WoWs S&N stats. #1 - Yubari. 507 Battles, 59.17% Winrate, 34k average damage, 1.19 average kills, 3.53 average plane kills (which, considering the number of T4/5 battles without any CVs, is nice for me...) Have this little beauty since Beta and she never fails to entertain me... whenever I feel salty, I take her for a ride and hope for two CV in the battle and many DDs... #2 - Warspite, 503 Battles, 56.26 WR, 48k av. dam (low...), 0.99 av. kills (often DDs ^^) You know what they say... "The battle ain't over 'til the Fat Lady sinks..." I always imagine the frenzied look of those DD commanders getting into her secondary range... #3 - Leander (grandfathered right now...), 334 Battles, 58.38% WR, 43k av.dam., 1.08 av. kills When I'm done with the RN cruiser line, this will be the ship I will go back to. All those RN cruiser coming after her feel rather clumsy to me... #growing_on_me - Musashi; 82 Battles, 64.63% Winrate,, 81k av.dam., 0.82 av. kills Not that impressive damage-wise. But somehow it seems other BBs lose their desire to "kemp bush" when they see the Musashi steaming ahead, spitting steel in all directions and finally going down in a Blaze of Glory tm #special_place_in_my_heart - Krasny Krim, 217 Battles, 50.23 WR, 33k av.dam., 0.82 av. kills, 20% main gun hit rate Got this little toy out of a "Super Container" which I didn't consider that super at all when it happened. Since then, I made it a habit to do the last battle of the day in her. And I exclusively used the Krasny Krim during the recent Sprint Ranked and got her to rank #1 in 35 battles with a 60% winrate. Using her to send rainbows of HE love at the enemy team is always fun, even when the battle is lost in the end... The only thing that would make her even more precious to me, would be if she got the spotting plane consumable... I deliberatly did take only the ships I really, really value and not those I am best in... those are nice, too, but the above are my special ones... -
Ah, them glorious days of "fail Divisions"

I guessed wrong... still at Rank 3 - thank RNGesus for it being a protected rank, as I got a whole acre of potatoes in my teams today... played ten battles in ARP-Kongo and Kamikaze and won two... when I was playing KOngo, the DDs suicided, the Cruisers... well.. just died... and the other BBs did the "kemp bush" simulation... and when I played the Kamikaze, the other DDs suicided, the cruisers went anywhere but near me to support me capping and the BBs did the "kemp bush even harder" simulation... Seems the potatoes have made their way to the <5 Ranks... -

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Got some more salt for Your wound... Played on my sealclubbing alternate account today. After a total of 20 battles I'm at Rank 3 now. In total I did (yesterday and today): Six battles in Emerald (10 pt captain); 33% winrate... only 15k average damage... got gangr@ped by enemy BBs again and again... Most of what You described above happened to me in those battles, too... One of the best battles was, when in a domination battle the team agreed on A & B, but when I tried to help our single DD at B I noticed my RPF telling me that the enemy all went to A & B, too. DD capped be and was dumb enough to stay in it. BBs and the second cruiser continues to steam to A, ignoring all the enemy getting spotted north of it. I went to C, capped it and killed a damaged enemy Kirov before I had to do a fighting retreat, getting about a dozen cap defenses on the way, while the rest of the team let themselves get slaughtered at A - which we never got - and B - which we lost fast after our DD was killed sitting in smoke in it... Five battles in ARP-Kongo. Won four of those. Even though I only managed 41k average damage and 0.8 average kills I'd say I did quite good. Sometimes I just managed to be on the wrong side of the map with some good allied players, so that targets melted faster than I could reposition (or sometimes even reload...). I think I still can see the panic in the eyes of the enemy's Kamikaze R captain, as he saw my Kongo steaming directly at him, instead of the usual "It's a DD - RUN AWAY!!!" he seemed to be used to... *giggles* So... 80% winrate in the Kongo... And then the Kamikaze... not the R type, but the normal one... got it from a container or so... Nine battles in her *CoughSealclubberCough* and a winrate of 88.89% (= 8 wins) which weren't all because of me being there... I only managed 0.89 kills per battle and an average damage of 25k - which is way below my usual average in a Kami - but capping, spotting and making enemies run away because of torps coming at them, smoke showing ahead etc. etc. etc. sure helped to win a few battles. So.. 20 battles and 14 wins... 70% winrate... solo, not division... during the day (afternoon). Yeah, Kami is OP... but 80% in the not really OP Kongo - shotgun anyone? - is also nice... So... with a little luck I'll get Rank 1 tomorrow after a few battles... and I hope You'll get lucky with teams, too... -

Not yet at rank 1 with my sealclubbing alternate account and got to rank 3 with 20 battles in Kamikaze, ARP-Kongo and Emerald... max 10 pts captains... Guess I'll be done with it tomorrow...
