Are the ships in this game too fast ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to OnceBittenTwiceShy's topic in General Discussion
You do know, that the ships' scale seems to be kinda variable? Take a BB Take a DD Place them on the same spot (which isn't a real possibility, but needed for the example) and they are at the proper scale to each other Move the ships apart to one side.. the DD starts to "grow"; the further away from the BB it gets, the larger compared to it it looks (until a certain margin is reached)... I guess that's the reason why so many ships in this game look as if they were the same size -
Idea: Remove citadels from cruisers :)

Play russian DDs No Citadel, but Cruiser-like attitude ? Winrar! -

they also shrink or grow depending on how far away they are from the observer -
Bad Destroyer (DD) PLayers
Deckeru_Maiku replied to anonym_CsauhrZtDqUP's topic in General Discussion
One problem with that might be the fact that some people seem to have a very strange view of what "a good supporting position" is supposed to be. Usually it would mean a spot from which You can shoot at The Enemy while The Enemy can't shoot at You... Usually people seem to stick positions, from which they can't shoot at anything just to make sure nobody can shoot at them... The only DDs that I really despise - as a players with about an equal % in DDs, BBs and Cruisers - are those suiciders, that storm into a cap, smoke up (sometimes without even being spotted, just to make sure...) and cutting off any possible spotting by that, who then get torped by an enemy DD because they are also dumb enough to sit "broadside to enemy team" in the smoke. The good thing about these players is, that they show up as often on my as on the enemy teams...- 74 replies

I take it You and the BBs were all kemping bush behind that island, yes/no? And so you needed a DD to babysit spot for you? And there probably was at least half the enemy team in/near that cap so they could kill y'all so easily? So.. a single DD was supposed to keep them all from doing that?- 74 replies

Interesting idea... apart from the tier difference, I guess there would be sticking out too much Worcester fore and aft of the Katori though for her to be enough of a cover ^^ -

& Nah... that sould only be done to utterly OP ships.. like... the Katori... Just imagine a undestructable Katori without guns or torps - ok, keep the AA - snailing around on the map, trying to find any ship that would be slow enough to be rammed by it... ^^ -

Well, it's not really "weak" but it can get quite nasty under circumstances... like when You come around an island in a Yamato to face a Bismarck waiting there - mine... - just to get punished with four citadel hits from < 5 km range or so, taking your health to near zero, then getting peppered by secondaries, while not being able to one-shot the Bismarck - me - so it finishes you off with the next salvo.. *cough* And when my Izumo shoots at a Yamato/Musashi I also often see quite large numbers rolling in... On the other hand, it's usually tons of HE that melts my Musashi, so, hey, what do I know... ^^ -

Sooo... still retraining my Southern Dragon (the captain...) on my Southern Dragon (the ship) for the Zao... and once more I see why I like that ship so much. And I can't wait to see how much better it will perform after the IJN ship buff soon tm Today I had a battle with her on Shards, Domination, starting on the north-western side. For once two DDs and several other ships decided to go to the - *gasp* - A cap... the one, into which the northern team can shoot into... astounding! So as could be expected, the enemy's DDs didn't survive that long when they attempted to take A. And as our team also managed to take C, we were at a - slight - advantage. After that, I got into a long range donkey-kicking contest with some cruisers and BBs, managed to land some torp hits and put some ships on fire... and gathered a total of 69k damage and three sinkers, with the last one coming as a BB burned down just after I took a killing salvo from it... oh.. and a win... a close one, with only two of ours and one enemy ship left when we managed to get the 1000 pts (with the enemy being at ~800 or so). Nice game and in no way boring... too bad there ain't so many of these usually... I needed two - not very good - battles to do the "get 80 secondary hits" mission from the RN DD line and a win... I was as bad as the teams I had, so nothing to brag about here... And I also got a undeserved win in my Edinburgh. It's not bright to type in the chat while advancing, just to get spotted and gangr@ped by half the enemy team... And it also took me two battles to get a win in the Chung Mu - another ship I don't really like - but at least the second one was a nice one. Map was Sea of Fortune Domination mode, starting south-west, with four DDs per side and lots of BBs... Due to radar, I didn't go for the cap immediately, but decided to only do some spotting for a while. A bit later I finally was able to grab the A cap uncontested and set course to the B cap, which still was contested. I got there to late to get involved in the fighting (cap got taken) but was able to assist in the defense against some enemy BBs coming through the small gap from C to take B from us. Didn't turn out too well for them, as there were two DDs - one being me - waiting for them. The first - a Jean Bart - didn't expect to be greeted by torps, when coming out from behind an island... after taking four poor Johnny Beard went down... The second one, a Massachusetts, was a bit less daring... so when he came around the island I was lurking behind, he only took two torps and nearly managed to sink me with the main guns. But being a reckless type of player I closed the distance enough that my crew could have thrown stones at the Massa, firing HE shells into it's superstructure - and getting a bit of help by allied ships shooting at it, too - until I nearly did a full 360 around it and it finally went down... Too bad the battle ended - with a win - soon after that... so it was only ~90k damage or so and two kills I managed... So.. second day in a row with 66% winrate - 9 battles yesterday, 6 today, so no real effect on my long term winrate ^^ - but as they say in GoT: "Weekend is coming!" -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
That's about how it was for me too, in fact... I only remember two occasions (check my DD battle numbers...) where I survived more than two torpedo hits, and one of those was in a cruiser: #1 was in my Kamikaze, where four torps managed to hit it's bow, due to me turning away and "picking them up" one by one... the enemy DD that send them in my direction took only one torp hit in the middle and was downed... I felt a bit dirty afterwards... #2 happened in my Katori (cruiser...) which also took four torps and ended up still alive (though only by a hair's width) as three of them hit the same spot. So the change itself - neither the not-implemented damage to torp belts nor the removal of imunity to multiple torp hits - doesn't really bother me at all... but the reasoning offered by WG is a bit... well.... "we can't do that to the BaBBies or they will spend their money somewhere else"-ish. -
Thoughts on 10% damage on torp bulge/spaced armor thing
Deckeru_Maiku replied to howardxu_23's topic in General Discussion
Trust WG to turn a potential BB nerf (= no more damage immune components like AA/secondaries; cancelled due to "excessive damage to BBs") into a nerf of other classes (= no more oversaturation by torpedoes on DDs; several hits in the same region now kill the DD). Well played, WG, well played... always making sure that BaBBies aren't hurt too much... -

Deckeru_Maiku replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Soooo... "excessive damage - especially to BBs" is BAD tm But turning off oversaturation through torps on DDs is GOOD tm ? Yeah, WG as usual not turning any mechanic change into something that doesn't nerf BBs but any other class (mostly DDs)... ^^ -
Not my kind of fun... even with some human potatoes in the team it usually is way too easy to defeat the bots... I had played CoOp only when I got a new ship and wasn't sure about how it handled, so mayhaps once a month or so... nowadays I do some of the more boring missions in CoOp, like "get 250 secondary hits" (-> take Bismarck, go brawling and hope the bots live long enough...) or "get 1500000 points spotting damage" (which works a lot better in CoOp, especially with bot on your team, too, as they really shoot at spotted targets). Except for those missions, I wouldn't want to play CoOp often... yes, random battles can be frustrating campfests and yes, some players are really worse than bots... but even though the bots now are way better than in or shortly after the beta, they are still simple trashmobs with limited skillsets... which would also describe the average human potato player *cough* but at least in random there is the hope that some of the other 23 players on the battlefield aren't...

Do Destroyers need a Buff? 10% max damage the right way?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Do "DDs" need a buff? All of them? Every DD on every tier? Nope... Do some game mechanics deserve a look and maybe a change? Like... the utterly historically "accurate" radar on some nation's *coughrussiacough* cruisers? Jeppers, indeed... -
What kind of weapon do you prefer?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to howardxu_23's topic in General Discussion
As here in WoWs I didn't like the "power progression" in the high tier region of WoT, so I never tried to get a T10 there, but reading the above makes me want to take some of my old favourites for a ride... Like.. the Großtraktor-Krupp or the Cruiser Mk.II with it's 3.7" Howitzer... whenever the stars aligned right, the joy to one-shotting about whatever you could meet on the battlefield... ah, and all those salty tears.... ^^ -
You don't understand, comrade... the bots are programmed to mimick the playstyle of those players that WG makes the most money upon... so of course they heal at the first opportunity... The next bot generation will also be able to kemp bush shoot HE exclusively as a non RN BB use chat to complain about the potatoes in their team and/or make remarks about "your mother...."

Don't know if anyone here is old enough to remember the old BattleTech board game?!? For arena one-on-one battles I modified my 100 t mech to using only machine guns. And an axe. And Jump Jets. Ended up with - I think - 30 or so machine guns. The advantages? zero heat buildup when one MG gets destroyed, there's still tons more of them the chances for critical hits to the head area was greatly raised... And with armour in the head region limited, that meant that sometimes after the third salvo the enemy pilot was dead or unconscious and the fight was won... In WoWs I like the Derp Gun ships with the added dakka-dakka... Izumo, Musashi, Bismarck... soon Yamato... -
Reasons behind "Roflstomps"
Deckeru_Maiku replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
For me the main reaso for these roflstomps is Repair Costs.... ^^ As soon as the first alliedship goes down, many players go into panic mode "Oh gawd, we will lose..." and start to play passive instead of taking risks. This leads to island hugging and the few people stil playing aggressive getting focussed, which makes the others play evenmore passive... When the game is already lost, they often try to "get their stats up" by trying to do some damage, but now they are outnumbered so much, that they have the same chance as a snowball in hell to turn the game. Add to that the widespread inability to use tactics and the also widespread BS about the "meta for a certain map", which makes - especially potatoes - try to follow the advise of a Unicorn from the Interwebz, even when the situation they are facing is a totally different one and they would need a different tactic to win. Nah, just kidding... it's aliens! -
Could we introduce a radio command like "ignore that ship"?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Praevasc's topic in General Discussion
I guess it would be technically possible to put such an utterly useless option into the game. It will of course end up being ignored, just like the "focus fire on xxx" you mentioned... -
I just uninstalled the game. I hope WG will fix this game for the top 25% of the playerbase.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Weekend... and I barely managed more wins than losses (five to four) two losses in the Edinburgh... it's on the way to become my least liked RN cruiser. Although often it's teams that help in losing the battles. Nonetheless I just can't seem to adapt to this slow, brick-like maneuvrable wreck... Enemy radar doesn't help... one loss in my Southern Dragon, purely on me, as I overextended and managed to get focussed by half the enemy team after about three minutes in the battle. Things happen, when you get to play a T7 ship on a T5 map that's only 30x30 km or so and you will be spotted from 10 km away..^^ and a loss in the Katori... got sunk in the enemy cap in a standard battle, while the enemy was already ahead in points, ships sunk and cap counter... Now to the wins... two wins in the Shiratsuyu. Not my fault. Managed both times to get sunk without achieving much, but in these battles the team made up for it. In one game - Two Brothers, Standard battle - the whole team except for a Baltimore, another DD and me went to the left flank, leaving us to defend against the push of 7 enemy ships... And of course going eight versus five on the left flank lead to a stall and not the push one might have expected. So we soon had to fight a retreating battle, when the second DD was sunk and I down to 50% hp. I was so miffed, that I retreated right down to the bottom map edge, waiting to see what my "great" "teammates" might manage to do. First a Bayern went through the channel to the enemy cap, just to meet an enemy BB at the enemy's cap edge. The ramming sunk both of them. Next the surviving two enemy ships on the left flank retreated and none of ours followed them. Which was good and bad, as they managed to now turn their attention to the pushing enemies on the right flank. But it allowed the two running enemy ships to survive. Now - with all the enemy team in or near to the southern side - our side - of the map, I pushed through the channel, making three enemy ships turn back to go after me. Which gave the advantage of numbers to my team and - by stopping the counter - also gave us a couple points ahead. In the end I got sunk in the cap, but the team had managed enough kills so that we won the game. Not a great game by me. But a win... a win in the Yubari... in the Katori I had two CVs per team and in the Yubari there were of course none. But four DDs per side. Nearly as good targets... ^^ Took out two of those little buggers when they tried to be nasty to me. 40k damage, three sinkers and a 3323 WoWs S&N Unicorn rating... Vampire... this little bugger is sooo nasty... only one sinker, but 39k damage in a T4 battle with nasty Orions.. and also a 2256 WoWs S&N Unicorn rating. And lots of fun using the speed and long range guns of the Vampy to annoy Cruisers and BBs alike. With 35k average damage and a 71% winrate over 73 battles it feels soooooo sealclubberish to take her out (except for the fact that it's BBs that are on the receiving end...) And my favourite of the day - Izumo. Some might think of having only front turrets as a problem... I like it, 'cause it helps playing aggressively... just sail ahead and point your bow in the general direction of the enemy... and sink any DD stupid enough to think he's immune to BB main guns... or secondaries... or whatever... Sunk 1 1/2 DDs this battle. And two more ships, to make it a total of three with 113k damage and a 4331 Unicorn rating. I guess the way up to the Yamato will be fun. Right now after 47 battles my winrate in the Izumo is at 65.96%, even though my average damage in her is only 56k. In the end, I also seem to have had a win in the Crispy Creme Battle Of The Day, which right now takes place in Sprint 2 Ranked (5 battles total, Rank 8 it seems) -
I just uninstalled the game. I hope WG will fix this game for the top 25% of the playerbase.
Deckeru_Maiku replied to Rautainen_Biisoni's topic in General Discussion
That's where the problem is for way too many people in this game. -
Praise WG for making them play like the average potato then ^^
