Was there a stealth change to AP penetration?

Unless hitting better armored parts of cruiser even 130mm Soviet DD AP overpens easily from such ranges and straight angle. Again Karlsruhe is very hard to citadel for it because of secondary "sloped" deck armor behind. But for BB AP those are just light armor from close range and straigth angle.

How to Simulate Being in the Navy 1. Lock all friends and family outside. Your only means of communication should be with letters that your neighbours have held for at least three weeks, discarding two of five. 2. Surround yourself with 200 people that you don't really know or like: people who smoke, snore like Mack trucks going uphill, and use foul language like a child uses sugar on cereal. 3. Unplug all radios and TVs to completely cut yourself off from the outside world. Have a neighbour bring you a Time, Newsweek, or Proceedings from five years ago to keep you abreast of current events. 4. Monitor all home appliances hourly, recording all vital information (ie: plugged in, lights come on when doors open, etc) 5. Do not flush the toilet for five days to simulate the smell of 40 people using the same commode. 6. Lock the bathroom twice a day for a four hour period. 7. Wear only military uniforms. Even though nobody cares, clean and press one dress uniform and wear it for 20 minutes. 8. Cut your hair weekly, making it shorter each time, until you look bald or look like you lost a fight with a demented sheep. 9. Work in 19-hour cycles, sleeping only four hours at a time, to ensure that your body does not know or even care if it is day or night. 10. Listen to your favourite CD 6 times a day for two weeks, then play music that causes acute nausea until you are glad to get back to your favourite CD. 11. Cut a twin mattress in half and enclose three sides of your bed. Add a roof that prevents you from sitting up (about 10 inches is a good distance) then place it on a platform that is four feet off the floor. Place a small dead animal under the bed to simulate the smell of your bunkmate's socks. 12. Set your alarm to go off at 10 minute intervals for the first hour of sleep to simulate the various times the watchstanders and nightcrew bump around and wake you up. Place your bed on a rocking table to ensure you are tossed around the remaining three hours. Make use of a custom clock that randomly simulates fire alarms, police sirens, helicopter crash alarms, and a new-wave rock band. 13. Have week old fruit and vegetables delivered to your garage and wait two weeks before eating them. 14. Prepare all meals blindfolded using all the spices you can grope for, or none at all. Remove the blindfold and eat everything in three minutes. 15. Periodically, shut off all power at the main circuit breaker and run around shouting "fire, fire, fire" and then restore power. 16. At least once a month, force the commode to overflow to simulate a 'black water system' boo-boo. 17. Buy a gas mask and smear it with rancid animal fat. Scrub the faceshield with steel wool until you can no longer see out of it. Wear this for two hours every fifth day especially when you are in the bathroom. 18. Study the owner's manual for all household appliances. Routinely take an appliance apart and put it back together. 19. Remove all plants, pictures and decorations. Paint everything gray, white, or the shade of hospital smocks. 20. Buy 50 cases of toilet paper and lock up all but two rolls. Ensure one of these two rolls is wet all the time. 21. Smash your forehead or shins with a hammer every two days to simulate collision injuries sustained onboard Navy ships. 22. When making sandwiches, leave the bread out for six days, or until it is hard and stale. 23. Every 10 weeks, simulate a visit to another port. Go directly to the city slums wearing your best clothes. Find the worst looking place, and ask for the most expensive beer that they carry. Drink as many as you can in four hours. Take a cab home taking the longest possible route. Tip the cabby after he charges you double because you dress funny and don't speak right. 24. Use fresh milk for only two days after each port visit. 25. Keep the bedroom thermostat at 2 deg C and use only a thin blanket for warmth. 26. Ensure that the water heater is connected to a device that provides water at a flow rate that varies from a fast drip to a weak trickle, with the temperature alternating rapidly from -2 to 95 deg C. 27. Use only spoons which hold a minimum of 1/2 cup at a time. 28. Repaint the interior of your home every month, whether it needs it or not. 29. Remind yourself every day: 'it's not just a job, it's an adventure!' 30. Mix kerosene with your water supply to simulate the de-sal plant on the ship picking up JP5 in the intake -- if a lit match thrown into your coffee pot doesn't ignite it, add more kerosene. 31. Stand outside at attention at dawn and have the poorest reader you know read the morning paper outloud. Be sure to have him skip over anything pertinent. 32. Every four hours, check the fluid level in your car's radiator. Check the tire pressure and replace air lost from excessive pressure checks. Be sure to place red tag on ignition stating "DANGER: DO NOT OPERATE" while you perform these checks. Inform your neighbor as to the results of these checks, have him tell you to repeat the checks because he did not see you perform them. 33. Paint your house grey (exterior) include windows except for rooms you do not frequent, paint your car grey, paint your driveway a different shade of grey. 34. Wait outside your dining area as a family member eats a meal, then have that person serve you a meal prepared several hours earlier. 35. Shut all blinds and doors at sunset. 36. Clean your house 'till there's absolutely not a speck of dust anywhere. Call on a stranger to come inspect your house. Ensure stranger sees dust that has collected in the time it took to find him. Stranger cannot leave until he finds irrational fault with your house/belongings. 37. Hang Christmas lights in June. When the neighbors ask, say, "deceptive lighting." 38. Hang white lights when relatives visit. When neighbors ask, say, "friendship lights."

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Especially three cap ranked battle is horrible if others can barely drive ship without colliding to closest island. Randoms probably would have higher level of player quality and better probabiltiy for at least few sane players in team. This isn't that unusual fail team match result fully mastered Gremlin can pull:

Update on Project R in Europe

It will be happy days for gunship DDs even without going that far. Meaning you haven't done everything and probably missed some week. I have 263 pearls without completing any of the missions available only for other than destroyer and Tier V ship.

    Limited view options

Well, you can slow down playback speed of replay allowing taking screenshots: Königsberg detonation:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/08taybkmlczh6zc/AACUrTskuxIeCaSVFG85ii6ba?dl=0 Coup de Grace to Minekaze from 12km: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uwqd03b3j2ofsr6/AACziIPOFnBbO2Ye6M7dlVrGa?dl=0 Actually you can even control camera angle freely. WG just hasn't documented all various controls.

    On the survivabilty of classes

Actually even HE(/HC) shells have explosive filler/bursting charge making only small part of shell weight because steel is dense and explosive not so dense. Even Yamato's HE shell had lot less than 100kg of explosive. (actually less than US 16" HC shell)

Project R is up on EU

If weekly missions will get new round there's no way to avoid completing them without stopping playing random and ranked. And I got my 263 pearls just by playing in Gremlin so haven't even completed any different class/tier missions.

    On the survivabilty of classes

Every big caliber AP overpen on destroyers already gives lot more guaranteed damage than they would have done in real life. Unarmored "tinfoil" construction simply minimized damage of non exploding shells which didn't hit anything more solid or important. And that change would just punish gunship DDs lot more than already over abundant IJN DDs.

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Ranked is now propably basically super random with many AFKs/bots/lobotomized potatoes making carrying team harder. Anyway if you want ship in which you have team carrying effect by playing well Gremlin is the right ship to learn. I'm now getting closer to 70k average damage in it.
  10. EsaTuunanen

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Well, doing damage worth of toward 50% of enemy team hp pool sinking lots of enemies gives lots of XP. Enemy ship should be always preferably sinked to lower capability of enemy team to fight back hence increasing chance of victory and 50% bonus to base XP. But that same rule also dictates always prioritizing targets. When it's spotted it's always more important to prioritize stealthy destroyer over cruiser or BB. That goes double for IJN destroyers with their powerfull torps. Also low HP ship can still shoot back so focusing to those lowers enemy team's damage output fastest. Especially if enemy BB can shoot back one salvo more that can cripple or straight away sink own team ship. Further if targeted enemy is far away and angled while you have new enemy closer showing its broadside for citadel hits with AP that's priority target. Especially BBs with their slow firing main guns should always watch for best target to shoot for maximising damage to enemy team per every salvo.

    Random battles

Start with Captain Academy: Also there are few WG's own videos covering few basics: Also watching plays with particular ship can show it's best used. And definitely try to learn enough aiming skills to hit cruisers from max range at tiers I and II. If you can't manage to dish out damage at those short range tiers you'll have even harder time to learn at tier IV when range of guns have increased and there are more skilled opponents. And no matter the ship you don't want to show ship's side completely to enemy with lots of guns (especially big ones) aimed at you. Because that way you give the biggest target to hit increasing number of hits taken. And in ships with armor to stop AP (Armor Penetrating) shells from going completely through ship hits to engine room area in center of the ship do massive damage. "Gunship" DDs can actually quite fast sink distracted/unaware light cruiser showing its side from closer range. And massive BB gun APs basically wreck cruiser from almost any angle, so you definitely don't want to be that only target focused by enemies. When using cruiser torps against BB you ideally want to attack distracted BB and use islands as cover to hide from detection until getting to good launch position. With 130mm Soviet DD AP citadelling straight hitting angle presenting Phoenix/Omaha up to 9km and Kuma up to 10km (along with overpen issues when hitting lightly/non-armored parts) I would be disappointed if Phoenix's guns can't citadel broadside showing cruiser from farther than 6km.

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Definitely not sure. Some time ago In Fault Line I got IIRC something like 2500 XP without any specially heavy damage (over my norm of 60-70k) just by capping that same center cap twice for "full cap" and once for "assisted capping".
  13. EsaTuunanen

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Just remember that DDs can citadel Kuma if you play "unwisely" against skilled DD player. Soviet 130mm AP up to 10km distance from perfectly straight angle. So remember to angle that armor if you see me in enemy team... All enemy cruisers didn't appreciate that wisdom in those examples of previous reply. Base XP is the one visible in Team Score screen and premium account and daily bonuses or flags aren't counted in it. But don't remember if someone at least in soem way "buffed" XP got included in this mission.

How do i get 1300+ base xp?

Method of dealing damage doesn't count: AP/HE/torpedo//fire/flooding damage hitpoints all have same value. When hitting same target. Because like said reward is based to damage in relation target's hitpoint pool. Not sure if there are differences depending do you do damage to class of ship you're especially meant to counter. At least target ship's tier affects: If target ship is lower tier than you you get probably progressively less XP and damage to higher tier ship probably gives progressively more depending on tier difference. And double that damage and you start getting decent XP even in defeat. Since couple months ago capping and defending own base or capped neutral base also gives XP easily without need to do especially lots of damage. And if you combine very heavy damage to carrying team to victory then XP reward moves towards 3000.

That's ok, game doesn't make difference in which end of the fish your ship makes contact.
  16. Silly you... Can't have USN ships performing on par with others.

This is the weather we want!

Actually no warship would want to be "out" in stormy weather. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Pittsburgh_(CA-72)#/media/File:USS_Pittsburgh_(CA-72)_underway_after_she_lost_her_bow_in_June_1945.jpg And to avoid stress concentrations it's better for ship's hull to have flexibility, so in long term even BBs might not fare well.

AA and Aircraft needs a rework

Plane diving at absolute maximum speed could never pull out from that dive. Extra stresses from any attempted maneuver would fast damage plane without any help from AA. So dive bombers definitely had to limit their speed to safe levels.

    chat ban

System should really prevent sinked player (+his/her division) from reporting you. That's really obvious abuse hole in report system for all torpedo and citadel hit magnets.

Yeah, lots of baby seals to club. Let's just hope that there will be also CV around to spot some DDs for long range "sucker bait" torping: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnjk15cl7nr353q/20160201_220200_PRSD001-Gremyashchy-1942_13_OC_new_dawn%20Isokaze%20stealth%20torped.wowsreplay?dl=0 Hoisted by own petard... Can imagine lots of juicy targets around with propable increase also in DD looking cruisers. If there's major overdose of Kamikazes could consider divisioning for some real "execution squad" action. Two properly skilled up Gremlins would also melt lighter cruisers fast with HEs... And citadelling careless cruiser from smoke cover... Now that would surely result some interesting chat.

Should I research higher tier ships?

Right ammunition for situation (along with correct aim) is absolutely crucial for maximizing damage. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mopr30opd7mcp32/Omaha%20Citadelled.jpg?dl=0 That target misprioritizing Omaha lost 18k hitpoints in ten seconds from first hit. Those eight citadel hits would have been worth of 20k damage and third salvo might have had shell or two left when Omaha run out of hitpoints. Aslain's modpack has Training Room enabler which can be used for testing in which situations AP penetrates and ideally citadels. Unless it's been changed from closed beta repair cost is same for every class. So if you eat half cruiser salvo in DD you need one kill to cover repair costs.
  22. How about 15 planes in DD vs 4 for rest of the team? That CV didn't let me sneak into torping distance of Wyoming in cap so had to be satisfied to resetting it with three remaining guns. +20% AA range upgrade module instead of main gun accuracy buff would have been handy in that.
  23. Once detonated Atlanta with zero direct hits. Because of its turning missed something like dozens shells until it just detonated without direct contact. https://www.dropbox.com/s/10xejq2jn68ccl1/shot-15.10.11_12.33.18-0045.jpg?dl=0 Replay shows one shell apparently falling narrowly short next to rearmost turret... How about - going for the objective(s)? ;)

Just aiming for victory and playing sensibly would help lot without any grand scheming in chat. But for some weird reason some players seem to aim to lose. I wonder if enemy team blamed AFKs Such a joy to sometimes have team in which everyone... well, almost everyone plays sensibly. (without suiciding cruisers and BBs) Basically enemy team split their forces to two while most of my team spawned and concentrated to one flank. Only Tankdestroyer in Cleveland stayed behind me until sighting enemy and sinking of forward scouting enemy Nicholas. After which he moved to center to support in chewing other enemy flank instead of trying to stop multiple cruisers and BBs. While I stayed spotting enemy and keeping them nervous before rest of the team coming to help.
  25. During CBT with Fletcher in North map. Two IJN DDs were on other side of choke point and popped up smokes clearly to sit in ambush. So without better targets coming I launched all torps trying to cover smoke cloud evenly. Shortly after torps disappeared into smoke got first "bingo" and fair five seconds later another for my first ever Double Strike. That was juicy moment. Then during summer in Gremy and in Fault Line. Enemy had gotten through other flank with Cleveland heading to cap so I launched torps... Only to see Cleveland change direction five seconds later. Thinking those torps wasted it was surpise to get kill half minute later. After WTF moment I noticed last enemy DD, Minekaze, had homed into those torps. During late fall in another Fault Line match after capping center I was aiming at enemy Cleveland on their side of map. He disappeared behind island and I kept estimating torpedo aim on other side of island launching fair five seconds later. After that I turned away to take distance, but before getting to my end of center area I got spotted by something and started looking around. Noticing Mutsuki roughly at 5 o'clock and turned enough to start shooting at him. I got time to hit one salvo before he ate one fish. Having been spotted Cleveland started firing at me and I fired courtesy salvo back for couple hits while popping smoke. With one torp less left I was concerned that Cleveland might slip away, but he still ate three torps for another Devastating Strike. About month ago got this in Ocean. I was aiming torps at cruiser incoming in oblique angle some 11-12km away while suddenly getting spotted. Firing torps in hurry I then noticed Minekaze who even started firing at me. So I started educating him of his position in food chain making him turn away. With already once disabled and repaired engine and heavy damage he then sinked to one torpedo hit from that salvo... While also blocking two others guaranteeing some heavy overkill capability. (only enough hits for max 43k damage) And week ago was going to NW cap in New Dawn where couple enemy cruisers were also heading. Then CV's planes spotted Isokaze and with so nice broadside angle I though what the heck... And fired torps for some 7 km intercept course before planes lost sight of Isokaze. I was little too hurried in thinking having missed, because that Isokaze clearly got caught "pants down". And before torps run out of range also one Phoenix picked one halving his hitpoints and making him focused out fast. That started one sided battle for that cap with enemy losing also Furutaka and Myogi for only one killed cruiser.
