Do i have to pay real money to purchase next ship?
EsaTuunanen replied to HotPotato123's topic in Newcomers' Section
Isn't the right question why would anyone want to keep Karlsruin? In short to buy ship it needs to be first researched and getting to research new ship needs having researched previous ship. -
My bet is on Windows breaking something with updates.

And often couple minutes could be saved by not criss crossing positions in spawn area. It's like some people somehow can play only "left or right handed" position.

Can be received only once? Challenge accepted.
EsaTuunanen replied to Mayv's topic in General Discussion
After one match had "First Blood x1" as if there were some way to get it multiple times in a match. There are kinda like few "cracks" in its surface... Allowing DD to "Devastating Strike" cruiser with guns without detonation. -
Well, is there anything else useful in level 3 skills? Like I said possibility of torps should be always taken into account in maneuvering and planning ahead. And there's plenty of use for consumables when intending to keep fighting until last enemy sinks or match ends. Depending on map and mode I often use first speed boost for dash into cap. Neither is 37 knots that great for going from one place to another while trying to plug gaps in defense left by team. And if there's good support with spotting from planes etc and enemy cruiser shows side from close enough I'll pop smoke and start aiming for citadel. (for those which can be citadelled)

First Blood... x1 Maybe killing every enemy first time in a match counts?

0.5.3 0.5.3 Balance Changes: AA and Carriers Feedback
EsaTuunanen replied to Ph3lan's topic in Archive
So why this? I played the Hosho 8x in 0.5.3 so far : 75 - 163k damage PER GAME with a TIER IV SHIP!!! http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44607-are-jap-cvs-op/page__pid__862802#entry862802 Ships without high caliber/long range AA guns got their AA nerfed by changes making below high tier strike heavy CVs stronger. -

Destroyers are having range of mid tier crusiers now?
EsaTuunanen replied to MATREKUS's topic in Destroyers
Just like Zao. You should stop trying to make sense out of changes. It gives only headache. http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44607-are-jap-cvs-op/page__pid__862802#entry862802 Anyway I think we can expect real "balancing" fun to start when Soviet cruisers come... http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44683-comrade-stalin-sends-reinforcements-soviet-cruisers-revealed/ -
Patch 0.5.3 AA changes - Buff or Nerf?
EsaTuunanen replied to StuntMan0369's topic in General Discussion
Well, here's the answer to effect of AA+CV changes below high tiers: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/44607-are-jap-cvs-op/page__pid__862802#entry862802 -
At this rate soon we'll have achievement for firing guns once and for hitting enemy once.

I'M a bit dissapointed! wows is not ewen near ww2.. :P it shoud be! you told!
EsaTuunanen replied to korkk1's topic in General Discussion
That's smoke in there. -
Helped by major nerf of other than long range/high caliber AA. Both by change of DPS values and ineffectiveness of "focusing" secondaries. What balancing? Isn't it more like inbalancing department with most of the time something either nerfed down to ground or buffed off the charts?
-
Actually first match after patch looked like this: Langley Langley Hosho New York Kongo Myogi Murmansk St. Louis Kolberg Tenryo (div 1) Tenryo Chester (div 1) my Gremy Langley Langley Kongo Kongo Wyoming Arkansas Beta Königsberg Kuma St. Louis Kolberg Kamikaze R Gnevny Somehow enemy managed to loose also that.
-
Actually had similar 11 vs 13 match few days ago. With enemy having six Nürnberg's vs four Clevelands. Fortunately hadt Fuso, Warspite and Kongo vs enemy's Kongo, New York and Myogi.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
EsaTuunanen replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
You should take Gremlin out for a spin lot more often. My second 8 kill match... Also have another fair 2400 XP, 4 kill Confederate+High Caliber (146k damage) match for evening in which enemy threw away their point advantage. (full HP Kongo even allowed himself to be torped) -
Were sounds changed again or am I the only to whom gun sounds sound even worser? Soon blowguns have more "bang"..

Patch 0.5.3 AA changes - Buff or Nerf?
EsaTuunanen replied to StuntMan0369's topic in General Discussion
Below high tiers most ships even have very little of long range/high caliber AA weapons and only "medium" AA weapons. For example Gremy's AA values are now really wacko. For its (mighty 2km range) 76mm guns DPS is now useless 4. Again for its couple 12mm peashooters its 7 and for some more 12,7mm peashooters 10. So wouldn't wonder if there are more oddities in other ships from this AA change. -
All starter ships are cruisers. (those particular ones are US) They are good class to learn basic controls and gunnery because of having some armor and decent hitpoints (unlike DDs) allowing some mistakes and good firerate. Though eventually BBs can punish them heavily from showing broadside and if you keep sailing in straight line torpedoes hit heavily. Co-op against bots is good also for getting handling experience (like maneuvering) from new researched ships. I don't now remember "author's" name but there's World of Warships "Captain academy" serie in youtube with good guides to various areas of game. There are also other guides for this game in there. For spotting mechanics there's this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/14258-basics-spotting-mechanics/

Ranked season feedback locked too early
EsaTuunanen replied to Kamikazesushi's topic in General Discussion
Well, change to more capping heavy for last season no doubt had DD increasing effect. Like change from two caps to three caps in Strait. Also Fault Line with its two crampedly placed caps sure doesn't attract cruisers if facing BBs. -
Advice on how to get more planes to shoot down
EsaTuunanen replied to Naveey's topic in General Discussion
Cleveland should definitely rack good amount of plane kills... if enemy CV is foolish enough to take his planes into range of its AA or go as far as target it. But did you just get ship eligible for participating? Because challenge has been going for month and half which is plenty of time to meet lots of planes in matches. Heck, I went through Kongo challenge including plane part just by playing destroyer... with mighty 2,4km AFT boosted AA range. -
Sure limiting flooding and possibly emptying some less damaged internal compartment was possible but plugging and emptying all flooded compartments basically needed visit to dry dock. Simly because flooded places were "slightly" hard to access. Also any engine/boiler room flooding often took out or hindered part of other systems from working.
-
Now if they first at least learned to not go into cramped places and get ambushed.

What does it take to sink a ship (semi-OT)
EsaTuunanen replied to DaWyrm's topic in General Discussion
I don't think there's much overpen danger with 57mm gun. Which is indeed peashooter compared to size of big merchant ships. Important question would really be do engine rooms use whole ship's width or are they behind multiple bulkheads so that it could wreck them. As for toughest non-military ships per size that would be no doubt ice strengthened ships, which need thicker and especially better supported hull to avoid damage in normal operation. Those also usually have more engines than normal ships for notably higher total engine power and "reserve" to not get instantly stuck if one engine malfunctions. But then again that's not exactly big risk in most of the world.
