Unless you're ready to reskill skipper that won't works flawlessly. Anshan needs some steroids to hamster powering turret traverse along with benefiting good amount from AFT... While both of these are wasted skill points in Lo Yang.
-
Gnevny (/Gremy) has same stock 7km detectability. 6,8km comes from camo. Granted Anshan facing T8 DDs is surely challenging, but it's not like Gnevny is any stronger against Blyska/Kiev which it should meet regularly with skewed MM for T5. While lack of stealth firing range torps lowers damage potential/versatility. (+good for fishing enemy DDs from smoke) And instead of plain HE spamming you should look for chances to use AP. AP works so much better against some New Mexico/Colorado. If I have chance I always try to get to that side angle with Gremy despite of 9% fire chance. 25mm plating simply negates small caliber HE almost completely, while it doesn't take that long to do 10k damage with AP. (only 50% healable unlike fire damage) From good broadside angle use AP all the way to 13+ km range and with distance shortening angle at which 25mm plating gets penned increases fast. German BBs are even more harder to damage with guns while torps are strong against them.
-
Also Anshan needs skipper with certain skills to truly work. Like Expert Marksman if you want to be able to better shoot back at enemy destroyers.
-
For nearby destroyers going to A and (especially) C from between islands is actually possibility. If they're near/fast enough to get there before enemy cruiser can get closer they only need to turn bow toward gaps between islands. After that there's only small distance to shell proof cover of islands if enemy cruisers start getting too close. But for bigger and non-stealthy ships going to cap through those narrow channels is obviously risky. Though battleships can do some bow towards enemy tanking easily.
-
Youy need to plan ahead. Fastest&stealthiest gunboat of T6: Check With quite good torps fast enough to easily threaten any DD during duel.... Good AP to surprise tourist cruisers and actually damage those HE-proof 25mm plated BBs who fail in angling: Check Ok... untill having three point captain for Expert Marksman using those guns against anything stealthier than cruiser needs BB like planning ahead.

T7 RU Premium Leningrad: Great Ship, Awkward Captain
EsaTuunanen replied to Pupu_prpr's topic in Destroyers
If you want to duel destroyers I would keep major traverse buff for taking shot when ever possible as quite mandatory considering second lowest HE DPM of tier and those problematic firing arcs. At least if you want to retain hp to be usefull afterwards... It just isn't useful in long term if taking out enemy destroyer leaves you on so low hp that couple shells/single bomb hit can kill you. In short Gremyashchy captain would be at home. Basically almost completely. Because unlike other post-T6 Soviet DDs that Concealment skill definitely fits the ship's specs of reasonable stealth and torpedo armament.- 19 replies

For Developer's of the launcher - Instaling takes longer than downloading.
EsaTuunanen replied to Crusherheads's topic in Archive
Operating system's scheduler can and probably does constantly switch processes between various CPU cores as part of its normal operation. Along with lower priority processes possibly sometimes getting CPU time only in tiny pieces. -
Omaha is the least protected against anything T5 cruiser: First of all its deck, bow and stern are even more flimsier than typical DD. So any caliber HE hitting to anywhere else but belt armor does always damage along with having standard fire chance. Second its huge floating citadel with enough armor just to prevent overpens. So don't show its side even to gunboat destroyers, especially Soviet ones. 130mm AP citadels perfect broadside Omaha from over 9km. In short while having the best weapons of T5 cruisers against destroyers it's also the most vulnerable against them. So always use islands to limit number of enemies who might possibly take shot at you. And never ever show side to anything firing AP. Against BBs or cruisers you'll want to use long range firing over islands to burn them always when possible. Also if target is made out of 25mm plating you might want to try AP when you see broadside to do some actual permanent damage. Only part of New Mexico/Colorado vulnerable to direct damage from below "heavy" cruiser (=203mm guns) HEs is superstructure. And the faster the enemies take damage and sink the less there are them to shoot at you. Königsberg/Nürnberg are equally vulnerable against HE but have smaller harder to hit citadel countering thinner armor so ships with few guns like destroyers have harder time in doing consistent damage. (APs missing citadel overpen) Aoba (just like Furutaka) is almost BB tanky compared to those. Deck and sides of midship is proof against most HE spam and can even bounce big APs when angled. Of course when not auto-bounce angled BB APs don't care about your armor. So again try to use islands for also protected torpedo launches on straight line sailing enemies. And always remember to be patient instead of charging at first spotted enemy. Even if some destroyer looks so attracting target it's better to let it away alive than chase it and show side to enemy team.

That CPU has low performance per core so ever tried limiting updater and web browser to different cores? (that "Set Affinity" in Task Manager) -

Or 3: Having to download whole asset packages again when one thing inside it was changed. Which would be bad for those with slower connections. (besides needing lot more bandwidth for WG server) -
Then again on higher trained captain retraining to new ship could leave player without it for quite long time without paying. Which would be very bad especially for (those few remaining) cruisers in current BB heavy environment.

Big differents in "skill" between the team's
EsaTuunanen replied to DinkyToy_AW's topic in General Discussion
Well, can't exactly say that all my team either played their ship properly in that match. And later in one match (also in Trident) had Fuso and Colorado spending two thirds of the match "keeping most of enemy team outside their effective hitting range." So obviously match started turning the wrong way. And as you might guess those BBs then almost suicided without pulling their weight for such BBs. Giving good point advantage to enemy with one cap for both teams and center being contested and me against three enemies. Fortunately managed to guess enemy Colorado's movement in center cap getting one torpedo hit to put it low hp. While ~600hp Myoko appeared charging in so I put it out of its misery showing myself momentarily... attracting one or two APs from Colorado resulting nice 1200 remaining hp. Then that ~6k Colorado failed in armor angling, so I just spammed it down with APs from 11km giving point advantage. Soon after that time run out giving point victory and 4153XP. (2 caps, 28 defense, 6 kills and ~103k damage to T6+7 ships) So enemy team basically had keys to victory and proceeded to throw them away. Not that I haven't had my share of suicide team mates donating victory to enemy... -
Don't try USN DDs above tier 4 if you think some cruiser has slow shells... Always assume team mates being oxygen wasting (instead of producing) vegetables not deserving captaincy of any ship (or barely even citizenship) and plan ahead basing to that if you want to maximize victory chances. Especially when in slower ship which can't run/hide from enemy.

Yes and US had no way to counter IJN despite of even Yamamoto warning Japanese leaders... Sure US abiding treaties for so long meant USN retaining lots of older WW1 stuff instead of it being replaced by new ships. Like those slow old BBs. But between 37-44 US actually built total of 10 new battleships, starting from two North Carolina class BBs. And Montanas (or something bigger) would have been definitely built if US had known plans of Japan. Also USN experimented with 18" guns but didn't go for them because of abiding naval treaties and massive weight increase of gun. (last 18" gun design had 300kg heavier shells than Yamato) While some were lost relatively fast many USN carriers took serious beating before sinking and some of them survived quite heavy damage. And "Combustible, Vulnerable, Expendable" CVEs actually did well in Battle of Samar considering opposition because of bigger APs just overpenning. Now how did IJN carriers do in damage control/survivability? Taiho even going up (or really down) from results of single torpedo hit because of lousy damage control and design weaknesses. In heavy cruisers USN sure wasn't building new ships before war with New Orleans class being their newest. But not because of any technological or resource reasons. (abiding naval treaties) And it wasn't like IJN inter-war cruisers were flawless despite of weight exceeding allowed... As for destroyers US had build dozens of new destroyers already before war. That's why USN could afford dumping part of WW1 era destroyers to UK. By the time Pacific War started US had Benson and Gleaves classes long into their mass production run, with Fletchers under construction. US built literally hundreds of destroyers just before and during WW2. (and probably another more of destroyer escorts) Also quite few USN cruisers and destroyers took heavy damage without sinking... Though even bows and sterns were literally lost... One destroyer escort whose rear third was destroyed by torpedo got new stern from same class ship which had taken torpedo to midship destroying most of ships machinery and badly damaging hull. USS New Orleans lost bow to Long Lance hit and same class Minneapolis similarly lost bow along with torpedo hit to one engine room. (also Pensacola took hit to midship) And at least those ships were real and not some dream/paper ships without resources to actually built them or fully imaginary. Though no doubt there were designs of more powerfull ships which stayed as paper designs because of treaties. Also USN had better radar assisted fire control lacked by IJN. So in more traditional surface ship standoff IJN ships wouldn't have been that much stronger. Outside surprise night attacks IJN really didn't have that great success. And Battle of Samar was fiasco considering opposition of handfull of tincans and planes without any weapons to damage anything but lightest ships. (partly because maneuvering spoiled IJN gunnery fire control) You better start reading something else than Pravda.

Yesterday had coward Balless Boats going uselessly half way around the map humping border in Big Race. So -50% XP punishment for those BBs who survived the battle but never even touched cap. If WG wants team play they should start punishing non-teamplay playing.

Outrageously bad HE damage against BBs with IJN 203mm HE
EsaTuunanen replied to kantkantian's topic in General Discussion
Other BB lines are as before. It's just that whole German BB line is more proof against HE than other lines. Already T4 Kaiser has good amount of area proof against light cruiser HEs. Except for smallish superstructure whole midsection of T5 König is proof against smaller than heavy cruiser HEs. And non-penetrating HEs also suffer in fire chance. -
HE penetrates 1/6th of its caliber. (German master race BBs have 1/4th) So open that armor layout viewer and check what ships have thin enough citadel protection.
-
Actually it gives +1.
-
Just exclude CVs from their target list because they can have actually valid reason to follow border. Tell that to border humping coward Balless Boats.

Have occasionally noticed hints to that. You can use this to test how many simultaneous key presses/or combinations of key presses your keyboard recognizes. https://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/KeyboardGhostingDemo.mspx 20 years ago all keyboards recognized lots of simultaneous keypresses, but then they started making them cheaper. Some worst keyboards might fail to recognize third simultaneous press on certain key combinations. If keyboard accepts/recognizes combinations of keys you might be pressing simultaneously in game then it's not hardware problem. After sending one chat message there seems to be delay in how fast you can again open message writing line.

Any hints on improving my aiming?
EsaTuunanen replied to Hikaru_Shigeru's topic in Newcomers' Section
I would recommend forgetting battleships until you've learned to hit different targets with some consistency. Slow reload of battleships simply doesn't really allow learning. Cruisers have firerate to learn basics of aiming. Battleships should be good target up to 10s shell flight time. Cruisers for few seconds less. Just don't rush enemy alone unless because cruisers can't take much punishment. And be careful about showing side even to destroyers. While overal any cruiser can slug it out with destroyer and win HE spam contest easily you don't want to get your engine room "ventilated" by AP shells. Leading by shell flight time takes ballistics automatically into account. -
Wargaming don't treat the symptoms and fix the real problems
EsaTuunanen replied to Spithas's topic in Archive
So what islands there might be in Ocean map which made people follow map borders? Also Trident has just fine amount of islands to have standard amount of BBs going to map edges past the caps... leaving center more open for other team to take. In Epicenter mode there seem to be less of those, but otherwise it turns match into naval version of WW1 trench warfare. And how does giving more time to relax and sit back encourage players to play more actively? Laxing requirements to be active from the start won't make average players more active. Just the opposite like modern rewarding of people from bad behavior. Maybe also destroyers want to try to sink someone instead of just sailing around and sitting in caps?- 36 replies

Slow turret traverse bothers less the longer the distance to enemy is so I don't think that would encourage BB players to get closer to enemy. Though buffing it would make already strong BBs even more stronger vs other classes.
-
Tier 6 BBs are already immune against direct damage from up to 152mm HEs except for thinner than 25mm plated superstructure with its small hp pool. Along with non-penning HEs suffering in fire chance. Cruisers and destroyers simply can't just push around enemies who aren't scared of getting paint scratched and know basic WASD haxing. While nothing but BBs can take a stand against attacking BB division because their APs don't care about cruiser armor.
-
What he means is that when choosing BB "Battle" button should be replaced by "Auto Win" button. I don't think fire having secondary effects would work well. That would make average BB player even more afraid of having one fire. On the other hand lower damage rate for fires would lower chances of cruisers against BB by giving it more time to keep shooting. (unless fire had some secodnary effects) And that sure wouldn't help in bringing cruisers back to matches.
