Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

Or BB APs will make big dent to hp pool of RN CLs no matter if they show side, bow or stern... Basing to videos Belfast is very strong against "counters of BBs" (+ maybe other cruisers) while having to hide behind islands or stay at max range against BBs. So might well end up having counterproductive results in the end.

    Reporting other players

Reports should be weighted by default depending on player's experience/karma. And reporting player who sinked you should be prevented... Or make it so that trying to do so consumes all reports without effect. (apply to whole division of sinked player) So easy to get reported by detonating someone or torping someone into smoke.

Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]

Co-op is good enough for testing if installing mods caused problems. So that's really no excuse for single AFK/can't load into match event. Breaking down equipment is acceptable reason but if problems keeps happening again and again that's plain (l)user error for keeping using bad equipment. Real Life™ is understandable, but obviously shouldn't be frequent excuse. And if power cuts (most of those are short) happen more than once in a while there's no excuse for not having UPS. Especially considering prices people pay for example for Nvidia graphics cards (which loose half of value in two years) or other kind overpriced game brand garbages. It should be trivial for WG to monitor these AFK/disconnection/not loading into match events and if those keep happening frequently take measures to limit player's chances to spoil matches for others. This is simply still team game and any single player shouldn't have more rights than 11 others. (or less in ranked) Don't you mean single enemy spotted?

USN Bofors mk.1-2 obselite vs. RN Bofors mk.5 AA guns

Some big fixed magazine which needs to be then completely swapped is different thing than "loading tray" to which four round clips were constantly fed by loaders. This is how that 40mm Bofors was loaded:

    About Winrate

Three bad losses despite of being among top scorers of the match should be considered as sign, that it's better to stop playing for at least couple hours... Unless wanting to get pissed and pooped on by matchmaker. While MM can't anymore screw you with inequal teams ship wise, nothing prevents it from drowning you into losers who wouldn't qualify for handling citizenship, if it needed showing signs of brain functionality. This isn't diverse enough for you? Capping (if applicable to mode) Hunting DDs. (guns/torps) Hunting cruisers. (AP for citadel hits, HE, torps) Hunting BBs. (AP, HE, torps) Trying to find way to carry, pull and push loser teams. Often there isn't much of empty time during match. And if nothing else there's always the chance to start trying to guess if it's better to try pure gunboating or torpedo boating. Not that work prevents minimap/situation checks from showing all the failbo(a)ts, losers and [edited]doing their utmost to help enemy team.

    6 Games 3 Detonations

You're completely wrong about it being random. It's rigged as hell: At least for destroyers first hits have insane detonation chance bonus. Now in three consecutive days have had first hit of the match causing detonation. Fourth detonation before that was from ~2/3 hp. While in reality destroyers suffered magazine detonation very rarely when taking hits. Literally hundreds of destroyers were lost in World Wars and you would be counting number them lost to magazine detonation almost with fingers of one hand. While (mostly badly damaged/sinking) battleships suffered similar number of magazine detonations per magnitude less ships lost...

    Economy in 0.5.12 - a Detailed Look

I think there's "leak in a bottom" aka loophole... Just had a match in which AFK (or bot?) Mutsuki sat in spawn whole time taking some damage from enemy Bayern (pushing to base) and probably spotting and got 18 XP from match. Couple matches earlier had similar tiny XP ship in both teams. (3 and 13)

What if in-game missions were like this?

Goal is to do damage to enemy. And for cruiser being on enemy's flank that can mean AP being lot more effective. For example starting from T6 most of the surface of BBs is proof against up to 152mm HE. While some New Mexico or Colorado has huge area vulnerable to even small caliber AP. Even Cleveland could fast do 10k damage. Two salvos should do that unless ship's sections are running out of hp.

US vs Ruski DDs, advice sought.

Yeah, German BBs have the weakest torpedo protection so to protect master race we can expect more use of nerf cannon against anything capable to threatening them. IJN T4&5 DDs are apparently getting rather notable torpedo nerfs with rework&split of tree. So wouldn't be wonder if USN high tier torps are next target. Leningrad is just "bad example" of later tier Soviet DD. Unlike tech-tree DDs past T6 it has actually OK stealth, while lacking in gun DPM but having actual torps. With slow traverse of single gun turrets it's even not so great fit for tech-tree skipper.

    Captain Cowper's Colorado Guide

32mm can bounce some APs which overmatch 25mm penetrating no matter the angle. Like Colorado's bow getting overmatched by 406mm but NC being able to bounce those. But without angling there's not much difference against flat trajectory APs. Also 32mm is enough to block 155mm and 180mm HE. While Soviet 130mm AP is heavily nerfed by super bad Krupp value (penetration coefficient) making it have no shorter range advantage over USN 127mm/38 cotton puff gun despite of 60% higher muzzle energy good ballistics keeps penetration loss under control all the way to AFT boosted max range. (=overpens superstructures)

There's actually quite decent page explaining skills in wiki-pages: http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/World_of_Warships

Hello there,i am quite new at this

Getting skilled captain moved to other ship is intended to push player to buy doubloons/gold. (same for last thing) Skill point amount limit is there so that player has to make compromises and prioritize instead of being able to get all the best skills. Some of the better players doing Youtube videos tell what skills they use. Same for better ship guides/reviews. Though some ships can have different playstyles benefiting from different skill sets. And even same class ships with seemingly similar purpose can need different skills, depending on also player's skill. There's quite good table for commander skill info in there: http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/World_of_Warships

HE spam is killing the fun

Medium armor of German BBs makes them lot more proof against various shells. 203mm HEs "overmatch" (HE penetrates armor of ~1/6 of its caliber) 25mm plating of USN/IJN BBs but not medium armor of German BBs... Non-penetrating HEs also suffer decreased fire chance. Which makes it also harder to do AP damage with non-BB guns, because smaller angling or no angling at all is enough to block APs. (while thin non-citadel armor of USN/IJN BBs is easy to penetrate with any AP at flat trajectory range if not auto-bounce angled)

    The "Ask an Expert" Thread

Isokaze's torps are definitely simply extremely strong per tier, but lot depends on if enemies have found only W key but not those mysterious A and D keys... If enemies use WASD hacks Isokaze's sluggish speed makes it vulnerable to getting caught by cruisers and gunboat destroyers. While facing all around stronger ships Minekaze has speed to disappear from anything but Tier 7 gunboats making it more stronger in various situations.
  18. EsaTuunanen

Ramming damage is just absolutely stupid.

So why were you so close that even if you had torps those wouldn't have had time to arm? Destroyer has all the advantages over surprised carrier sitting behind island and then you go and screw up? I would say also you need to kick your own butt.
  19. EsaTuunanen

Torpedoes why is THIS stil happening?

Not the first time for Blyskawica to eat lots of torps. Maybe WG should check models of these destroyers for how big butt they have....

    Captain Cowper's Colorado Guide

You should learn to love AP also in other ships than BBs. While enough to block direct damage from up to 152mm HEs (+halving fire chance) that 25mm allows very easy penetrating with any AP unless angled. What does 44k AP damage to Colorado and Nagato in T5 destroyer sound like? At closer ranges it doesn't take long to do 10k damage because of ability to do up to 3300 damage every 4½ second with 2k perfectly achievable average. (until damage saturation limits) Kiev could do 4½k per salvo. Below T6 USN BBs are very vulnerable smaller caliber HE spam and after that they're very vulnerable to AP spam if unangled. So keeping all enemies seeing only angled armor is key to preventing steady continous damage in them. Game mechanics simply makes German BBs very proof against any guns compared to other nation BBs. With torps being only major weakness of German BBs... Cue coming torpedo nerf to T4-5 IJN DDs.

    New york armor buff?

Whole New York, except for waterline belt armor and turrets, is 19mm thin. Meaning any caliber HE does direct damage to it. So HE spam from destroyers and light cruisers starts fast melting down NY even without fires... which get started easily. While except for superstructure whole midsection of König is proof against small caliber HEs... With non-penetrating HEs also suffering decrease to fire chance. And sides are also thick enough to make it harder to do damage with small caliber APs. USN BBs simply lost their place as brawlers by big margin.
  22. EsaTuunanen

    Captain Cowper's Colorado Guide

Why just superstructures? If New Mexico/Colorado shows its side (small angling doesn't matter) at reasonably flat trajectory range side of their big casemate/upper decks area is damage pinata for any gun. For example 130mm AP penetrates that flimsy 25mm plating easily from at least 13km away. 1-2k damage per (four gun) salvo starts fast eating Colorado's limited hp pool. Compared to German BBs these supposedly "tankiest" USN BBs are very easy to damage by smaller guns, if being able to get to their side... Which isn't that hard for faster ships in later match with less enemies left.

Automated Comms please - EU is multilingual

Don't forget Finland. Because of underhanded political dealings Swedish is second native, and mandatory language, but probably 90(+) % forgets its mostly... While out of younger people probably toward similar portion knows at least basic English and probably majority understands English very well. Myself I would actually have to spend some time re-learning it if I switched language of for example web browser to Finnish... Also once watched movie from DVD for 15 mins before noticing subtitles were in English. At least I've so far (few times narrowly) avoided writing in English into Finnish forums. Indeed ridiculous if any western people using computers and internet don't understand at least basic English. Heck, out of younger people with better education there might be even quite good portion of them understanding English in countries like China or India.

Agree that it woudl be good to have something faster and more intuitive than trying to remember what F-key did what with some of those quite useless messages mixed into bag.

Leningrad - Premium DD in the shop

At what? While Sims may have clearly superior DPM at any longer range harder time in hitting evens that difference fast. (plus lower fire chance) And Soviet 130mm's trajectory allows very effective AP spamming. Side showing Colorado at 13km range is valid target for up to 3k damage salvos. In torps Sims has either suicide range ones with standard USN damage or "upgraded" Tier 3 slow and weak torps. Heck, with flag and speed boost Leningrad might just go faster than those upgraded torps. Only advantages Sims has are turning agility and those instant turning machine guns making it very forgiving for lack of planning ahead and anticipating with DPM to smash or at least equal any same tier DD at short range. For Leningrad fighting DDs sure needs player skills (+Expert Marksman) but when played properly higher speed allows dictating terms making hard target for USN DDs. So while Leningrad has definitely lot higher skill requirements for being able to play up to its versatility it should reward skilled player with lots of room "before banging head to ceiling".
