No player thinking ability needed for avoiding ambushes and DDs -skill: Check Useless for DD because good player always assumes everyone anyway wants piece of DD when spotted -skill: Check DDs don't really benefit from bigger smoke, especially with German hydro DDs coming -skill: Check Two catapult planes to further negate torps and ambushes: Check While torpedo reload skill becoming very expensive for small benefit: Check BFT becoming very expensive for small benefit: Check And badly playing carrier can still attack you despite of fires -skill: Check Looks like current average amount of BBs in matches isn't enough.

Wasn't next major patch basically going to nerf DDs with: - That skill which would always tell where nearest enemy is, no matter if its stealthed. - Two and faster catapult planes. - Making BFT very expensive for small benefit. - Filling first level with rather useless skills for DD: - It's always best to assume that every enemy with decent shot is going to want piece of you when getting spotted. - While bigger smoke benefits really only RN CLs. - And with also faster torpedo reload skill becoming really expensive for its small effect.

Comrade Stalin sends reinforcements

Looked mostly buff to BBs by nerfing DD... Not that two catapult planes or always knowing where nearest enemy is would make it any easier for cruisers to ambush torpedo BB. Of course also dumbing down gameplay, because of not needing to worry about getting ambushed with that skill. -
Wargaming, please remove the premium matchmaking for T3 and T4
EsaTuunanen replied to kfa's topic in General Discussion
Unless you're living in some cave with no power and internet connection you might have noticed those same clueless failboaters have been literally swarming tiers 5 to 7 lately. Like how about four cruisers suicide rushing against majority of enemy team? So MM changes clearly failed to teach anything. -

EsaTuunanen replied to kfa's topic in General Discussion
What learning curve? Considering player quality of lately there's no learning curve to keep up with to get upward in tiers. -
At least bots won't do it "just for fun"! Besides bots would never hide in battleships uselessly in rear while showing side for enemy to smash... Simply because bots attack! Which is more than what can be said in average about half of players in those big fat Balless Boats afraid of someone scratching their shiny paint work.

Matchmaking and/or players are absolutely terrible lately!
EsaTuunanen replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
Oh yeah... Warn cruisers about avoiding rushing too fast while telling "battle"ships to support them. Five minutes later most of the cruisers are dead because they suicide rushed to show their side for most of the enemy team to shoot at while Balless&Brainless losers are 10km behind heading to map borders and behind islands. Demanding players to learn game basics before letting them out from lowest tiers and Co-op would go long way for quarenteeing some decency of gameplay quality. Along with limiting those who frequently spend more than minute sitting in spawn/disconnect/go AFK to Co-op. Game rules give WG clear permission to take actions to protect fun gaming environment. But then they neglect to do anything for it. -

Which makes no real difference to amount of retardness you have to fight against. It's as if all failboat losers don't anymore fit to high tiers. That would require that most tourist cruisers didn't suicide in first five minutes and Balless&Brainless bo(a)ts aren't hiding 10km away trying to conquer map border. -
Playing for objectives just doesn't seem to do much good recently with team having way too many losers who wouldn't qualify even for captaincy of rowing boat. By the time you've got one cap three to four retard cruisers have suicide rushed against most of the enemy team while Balless Boats are hiding 10km behind afraid that someone scratches their paint job. While you watch other destroyer plain suicide into crossfire of multiple enemies or go to suicide uselessly at map border. After which also those big fat Balless&Brainless boats somehow find speed to get there.

And why would there be need to differentiate them at first place? All those spoil gameplay for others in team similarly! So simply limit all those accounts to Co-op for certain period as first measure. If "symptoms" keep repeating just continue limit. -
Literally every match at least 5 BBs on each team.
EsaTuunanen replied to SovietFury43's topic in General Discussion
What brawn? Usually half of the BBs are Balless Boats... with luck. If not lucky three fourths of them are Balless&Brainless. Biggest design error is that even total failure to learn game basics is accepted for proceeding up from lowest tiers and to PvP. Design should involve using stick to encourage learning if carrot doesn't work. That's how basically all NOT-free-to-play games do it: You either start learning game basics, or you're stuck at same level. -
Even minute is basically too much, maybe except for cruiser. Battleships take minute to get to full speed so they're very fast totally useless for team for five minutes in crucial early match. And destroyers are needed to start screening other ships and scouting. Also missing carrier gives enemy advantage in scouting putting destroyers to bigger danger.
-
Historically out of many hundreds of destroyers and their kind ships lost in World Wars very few had magazine detonation without taking more beating. Except for mine/torpedo because their big explosion hitting ship underwater closer to magazines. Which aren't situated on "sun deck"... No video but here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ugwi7meogof1f9u/AAB_ln75_8kZbJSYywWE75zua?dl=0 Zero hits... out of something like two dozen shells I shot at it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/10xejq2jn68ccl1/shot-15.10.11_12.33.18-0045.jpg?dl=0 How about you tell why destroyers detonate nearly always from first hits when detonation is claimed to be random per hit?
-
And another match lost because Brainless Boat losers went chasing some map corner instead of staying defending caps!
-
Well, at least those DD players aren't going to hide in rear like half of "BattleBoats"! Usually half of those, sometimes every single one are Balless Boats afraid of someone scratching their shiny paint job. So instead of following cruisers at full speed to give proper support they run to rear and sides and hide behind islands... After first sitting minute or two on their big fat butt to make sure enemies see cruisers earlier. Neither do they lead push into cap in domination despite of 2:1 advantage in number of ships and no destroyers. And then there's the full pledged Balless&Brainless bo(a)ts going to map edge behind that cap while showing their side for enemy to smash! And same continues even in standard battle: "Conquering" map edges and humping them to corners away from even own base! Or Kongos even going around the map behind enemy base in Two Brothers!
-
What team? Time of basically everyone playing to help team ended with closed Beta. Now you're lucky if three fourths are playing for "green" team instead of half playing straight for enemy team! Like cruisers suicide rushing into crossfire of half the enemy team to give them free XP and points... After warning them to not rush too far ahead of battleships. And cowards in those big fat Balless Boats hiding at map borders using rest of the team as their meat shields while not doing meaningful damage to enemy team. After you tell them to support cruisers and destroyers in caps. What is needed are bot submarines patrolling map borders and attacking those full hp Balless Boats hiding there not wanting to get shiny paint work scratched. With sinking by subs resulting special Deserter-achievement with -90% to credits and XP and paying half the repair bill of team's cruisers and destroyers. And needing to achieve certain level of damage in say five consecutive matches in Kongo to unlock full range would be another team play improving factor. Along with tanking damage at some rate comparable to cruisers. (slug slow USN BBs can be given some slack in this) Carrot simply doesn't work on those and would be time to bring out stick and put pain on those team saboteurs.

If that exe file is used only for background game update (and not the one done in launcher) group policy editor could be used for blocking it.

German BB's - Twice as many battles played over the last two weeks vs everyone else in every tier.
EsaTuunanen replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
So good ship that when using guns first time to shoot at enemy only damage done was breaking radar of own ship! Besides that secondary sloped armor being not so usefull against tactics practised by USN. While USN 16" guns with super heavy APs had notably superior penetration power to smaller and/or lot older British guns. Hit by those Bismark would have taken lot more serious hits at any range. And every ship is always compromise from list of possible wishes. Like Bismarck paying for its armor layout in having quite light broadside weight for its displacement. -
Somehow I doubt that AA range circles around ships will stop that potato from feeding all planes to only strong AA ships in enemy team Cleveland...

Question about the overmatch mechanics on the armor belt
EsaTuunanen replied to Carmignac's topic in General Discussion
They ignore it when hitting spot with thickness lower than shell caliber divided by that 14,3. -
Tenryo is basically oversize DD/very light CL so it shares more similarities to destroyers than cruisers... Though having citadel and some armor makes it more vulnerable to APs than destroyer. (enough armor to prevent DD/CL APs from over penetrating citadel) If you like IJN BBs in general and especially Kongo, then you might not like USN BBs because of their miserable speed. Here are some humorous "reviews" of other BBs. That should be common factor for all T6 BBs... Unless Bayern has German master race troll armor also in there.

When you have the detonation flag but detonate anyway
EsaTuunanen replied to txtspeak's topic in General Discussion
That's what I remember from last time this was discussed. Well, whole supposedly random chance per hit detonation mechanic is broken/bugged so who'll notice one additional bug... -
So what ship types you've played and in which of them you'll do best? If you want it for making credits instead of captain training ship should be one in which you can perform consistently.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
EsaTuunanen replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Just got my 9th. Thanks to couple Balless&Brainless bots going to hump borders (in Shards!) instead of focusing to supporting map controlling center enemy gained superiority and started taking caps back. But with points going toward 1000 that Mahan instead of rushing to third cap came after my Gremlin... Offense punishable by sinking! -
Assuming there's enough time and space and guns are good enough for hitting BB without getting smashed by return fire. Destroyers of most tiers just don't have many enough and fast enough torps to force hits to actually skilled BB player. Shimakaze definitely has big enough number of torps to cover big enough area with super fast rocket torps to force hits to bigger high tier BBs. But even then it would take multiple attacks to sink skilled BB player in 1 vs 1 situation.
