A moment of silence for everything we will lose due to RPF
EsaTuunanen replied to Earl_of_Northesk's topic in General Discussion
Don't forget speccing Gremyashchy for maximum HE spam effectiveness for pure stealth firing range gameplay becoming very very attractive... Instead of agressive capping/spotting, hunting enemy DDs and seeing if there's some cruiser offering citadel for APs. (+ trying to find someone willing to sail into/sit in patch of sluggish torps) Also Blyskawica would have same situation. -
Just what can it add by giving player ability to quite precisely point guns to correct direction before enemy is spotted? It's not like capping is already well embraced by most potatoes with completely superior force of cruisers/BBs compared to enemy force so easily grinding to stand still in front of cap or going around it. With this un"skill"destroyer trying to cap has to face the possibility that enemy will have guns pointed to correct direction and is basically just waiting for spotting to push trigger.

For late WW1 ship that would be the case http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNRussian_51-55_m1913.php

How about bot submarines starting to lay mine fields near map borders with fuzes reacting to high HP battleships? After all beyond simple contact fuze mines target size/signature discrimination started to be implemented in them also in reality.

Clearly nothing what so ever. Got chat banned now after lately having been losing more than handfull of karma (couple percents of total) mostly clearly as revenge from torping some straight line sailors/smoke sitters and likely for detonating couple ships. For example after one match had mysteriously three less karma even though I didn't even have rear hiding battleships in team to tell to move to support cruisers. While highly suspiciously there was three same clan player division whose cruiser got finished by torpedo (meant for smoking destroyer) while I hunted and finished its destroyer in late match... Similarly in early December in one match enemy division of Isokaze and Kamikaze R just didn't learn to keep distance to battleships screened by me. So after few minutes of hide and seek both went down because of keeping coming back for more shelling. After which that Kamikaze player went full on abusive in chat and after the match got greeted by announcement of two reports. Replay actually showed also other thing I had missed during that action: Team mate (also in Kamikaze R) derping by stopping in front of enemy Gremy's torps and then doing same in chat! So with clans increasing number of divisions that reporting mechanics abuse is just going to increase meaning report system should be fully overhauled.

Explosive D/Dunnite aka ammonium picrate (derivate of picrid acid sacrificing some stability for more power) has very similar density so that would be nearing 3½ liters of more volume for explosive in French shells. That would definitely leave literal and physical dent to shell wall thickness and decrease ability of shell to resist shattering. Maybe they used some big wine bottle as size model for hollow for explosive... And when looking AP vs HE shell and explosive filler weights looks like there might not have been that much difference in construction between them. Basically same bursting charge weight doesn't leave much room for bigger differences when total shell weights are also so similar. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNFR_8-50_m1924.php

Ship's hull/weapons upgrades should be always taken. Because those are never away from anything and hence free opportunity for some more damage. Captain skills are different because you have limited number of points to get them. So for main guns AFT makes sense only if you can actually hit anything at that extra range.

Battleship armor layout vs IFHE breakpoints
EsaTuunanen replied to ScratxNeko's topic in General Discussion
Actually it's many of "all or nothing" armor USN BBs which are already weakest against smaller caliber shell spam. With everything (but turrets) above waterline area vulnerable to 127mm New York just melts like snow in oven especially compared to König. And 25mm plated New Mexico or Colorado can be easily damaged by just spamming AP into that big flimsy side if they show side. -
How would you "sell" this game to a new player?
EsaTuunanen replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Translation: Free-to-Fail-Forward game with teams half filled with team saboteurs who wouldn't qualify for captaincy of rowing boat. -
Or more properly: Use smoke when it's emitted between you and enemy, not when going toward enemy.
-
I think I've noticed this bug also in Gremyashchy. At some speeds smoke puffs get clearly missed making it harder to do bigger continuous smoke screen by moving at slower controlled speed... I wonder if they again tried to optimize server load or something.

Winrates and playing for the daily win bonus
EsaTuunanen replied to FloRead's topic in General Discussion
In long term that should actually happen. Unless every ships works equally well for getting wins... -
More precisely islands outside caps are attracting magnets while islands inside caps are repelling magnets. Though the strongest magnet seems to be map border.

What is the reason to play American crusers ?
EsaTuunanen replied to veso_vn's topic in General Discussion
Plating thickness of various ship areas can also make big difference to survivability against HE spam: No damage, less fires vs. damage and more fires. Pensacola is so easy to melt with small caliber HE spam compared to Myoko. -
What is the reason to play American crusers ?
EsaTuunanen replied to veso_vn's topic in General Discussion
Only for raw penetration. Damage wise they're plain mediocre: Even already nuclear HE shells IJN has higher damage AP shells! With Donskoi having only marginally lower damage 180mm AP than standard (non-super heavy) US 203mm AP. Also trajectory affects lot to how well AP retains effectiveness to long range, which is big part of play for cruisers in current meta. Because you need to be able to hit precisely to correct spots (no fire rate to spam) to do good damage. While HE doesn't bounce or overpen and non-penning hit has still some fire chance. Higher trajectory also increases hitting angle and effective thickness of all vertical armor. -
They should sell this kind mouse pads in every computer store... http://www.cafepress.com/+bang_head_here_mousepad,13554273 https://www.zazzle.co.uk/head+bang+mouse+mats And of course those team saboteurs just become more stupid the higher the tier because they've learned to fail better thanks to WG rewarding them from it instead of taking the stick and smashing them to fingers.

I think that would be more accurate.

Revised report system suggestion from a programmer
EsaTuunanen replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
First it should check if player has said anything for that player to see. To straight away discard any attempts to revenge getting sinked by enemy who hasn't said anything to other team. While sure there were IDKFA and IDDQD and others but usually games demanded players to learn something to get forward for first levels. I don't remember any racing giving you Ferrari from crashing starting car to walls enough times. Heck, not free games still tend to demand player to learn instead of being "free-to-fail-forward". I mean there's team saboteur with 1½k average damage in 85 Karlsruhe matches, 5½k in Königsberg and Nürnberg... And of course Derpitz as only BB with over 500 matches sabotaged by 13k average damage.- 47 replies

Revised report system suggestion from a programmer
EsaTuunanen replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
For low HP BB going to hide can be acceptable and actually the best/only right thing to do if only thing needed for winning is retaining points for little longer. But for full HP BB to run instantly to rear border and corner away from enemy and team mates that's unacceptable. Shouldn't be hard to differentiate those full hp BBs. Second it makes no difference to other players in team if their match is sabotaged by bot or player. Such team saboteurs don't belong to PvP of team based game. And the speed these coward BBs run to rear and hide behind islands belies they have problems because of some injury or been unfortunate to born with some condition. Same for accuracy of those circling around caps/stopping in front of it.- 47 replies

Revised report system suggestion from a programmer

And do you think it's tolerated in that school football if player just keeps kicking ball to own goal or sits in corner? That kind team sabotaging will surely have repercussions.- 47 replies

No matter how casual backyard football it is, everyone coming to field would still be expected to play instead of sitting in corner. (or just kicking ball to own goal)

Revised report system suggestion from a programmer
EsaTuunanen replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
Well, that will protect all those battleships running to sail in circles uselessly at rear of the map. Though that should be detected by automatic system penalizing that after at most couple offenses.- 47 replies

WG fix how 'chat reports' are being handled as current system is broken
EsaTuunanen replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
While it's of course OK for crybabies in those big mountains of armor and hitpoints called as "battle"ships to sabotage match for rest of the team by running to rear so that their shiny paint work doesn't get scratched. -
Well, those so ubiquitous at all tiers bad players don't deserve reward. In grand scheme any blanket XP boosts simply give more extra rewards to those bad players who are the cause of those poor games than good players. And total team saboteurs have it already easy enough to keep failing forwards.

Without other requirements that wouldn't help game at all: There are already enough rear line hiding BBs. So before of adding that there should be some kind basic detection for those. EDIT: That rear line hider detection should also include winning team to punish those who don't want to do their part of team work.
