But isn't that what it does to player's stats? Cleveland makes crunchy and nicely burning target for Gremy. And I kinda remember someone posting video (in Youtube) with Kiev wrecking Mogami with citadel hits.

Yep, against cruisers I would definitely save that second launcher... If for some reason I would want to be closer to cruiser than distance needed for citadel hits. Against DDs I just launch all to give enemy more entertainment instead of aiming at me. During seven ranked battles I've already torped two DDs. (out of 16 kills) Overal I've had half dozen matches with torp hit to two DDs. Including Double Strike during closed beta in Fletcher when two enemy IJN DDs popped up smokes to sit in ambush on other side of choke point. Pressing enter during match allows writing to chat. Less surprisingly another enter sends what you've written. (+exiting writing mode) Esc cancels chat writing, something you need to always do if you're in chat writing mode and need to change course etc. because ship control keys won't work during it. During chat writing mode tab switches between sending message to your team (green) or everyone in the match. (some whitish/greyish) That selection stays until you change it again so if you send greetings to everyone in start of the match you have to remember to switch it back to own team only or you might send some "strategic message" also to enemy.

Was surprised myself after that match because of not having done any other of three (DD) kills with torp or by detonating magazine. I guess you need to do that 50% of lethal damage inside certain time limit, allowing for few seconds delay between torp launcher salvoes. It was actually three salvoes with 4,5s reload between them. Besides that 8 citadels enough for 20k hp there was also ninth hit. (ordinary penetration) Could check replay in what order and in which salvoes those hits came. Still must have been rather "shocking" experience for that Omaha player. -

Really no need for +50% XP flags (800 of them from Confederates) but some extra anti-Detonation flags are usefull for those about every shell hits RNGesus match streaks. Thanks. -
If you din't look minimap in time just check name of who sent that message from chat box. With "alternative battle information" or something like that checked in game's controls settings you can then just look around player names above ships. That's lot easier than pressing alt key. It also constantly shows distance and shell flight time to aiming point, which is extremely helpful for leading target. And myself wouldn't call you as "noob" because you made this thread to become better/help team more.

Day time is clearly the best time to play in ranked. Did three matches and had no AFKs/bots or comatose potatoes in team and neither noticed them in enemy. -
Might as well go grind forehead with cheese grater as play in Sunday afternoon/evening. Even without fail divisions its torture. Unless T8 CV decides to execute that DD. That was possible to guess. And just mostly miss because even without RNGesus hitting from max range is skill demanding in most ships.

Looks like day time is time to play. Had three ranked battles without any stupidities in team, or really in enemy. Though in last one enemy Cleveland missed my Gremy from 8km with three salvoes. Then again instead of speed eating constant full rudder zig zagging I did course change only at times when he fired. -

Number of matches tells nothing about skill. Average damage should be used. I know a player/bot/comatose potato who has now nearly 2700 matches with 6k average damage. Kinda suspect if WG checked his playing times it might be 24/7. There would be automatic sense making teamwork if players just would be required to be competent. It doesn't even need really any constant communication in simpler one front situations if involved players are good. One of the most satisfying battles was me in Gremy and one Colorado holding flank against Mutsuki, Aoba, Cleveland, Nurnberg and Nagato and we didn't need any communicating for taking them down. Last times I've played early Sunday those matches weren't grinding forehead with cheese grater. -

At least MM could be made to balance teams better shipwise. That would give 50% change of reasonably balanced match. Now its half of that because even in the case of balanced ships, there's still another 50% chance of team having so much potatoes that equal or better ships won't help. Sunday afternoon/evening was just horrible with half the time so many inferior ships in team and then all the potatoes who on average barely do DD hp worth of damage. For example couple max tier DDs are hardly counter for enemy having superiority in both BBs and cruisers. And just swapping couple ships to other team and vice versa would usually make those lot more balanced. -

At this rate only time even those are playable is monday-friday during day. It starts to feel that at other times chance to get good team is 25%. Screw up called match maker makes sure it's never above 50% and with all AFKs/bots/comatose potatoes also that's halved. -

You should have launched sucker bait torps into smoke before going into it. That works surprisingly well even against DDs. -
Just a friendly reminder. If there are Soviet DDs in other team be carefull about showing your side unless your ship is at high health. Because if it takes you ten seconds to get guns aimed while showing side you might be 10-15k hp poorer by then. (20k in best/worse case)

Yep, just why it isn't allowed to do those missions if you can do alone more damage do enemy than division of bad/average players? Just like DDs were excluded from that citadel hit contest... In last match did 11 citadel hits because of three enemy cruisers showing their sides so much. -

Then having only AFK/bot/teamkillers loose star would prevent getting punished from being unlucky. (or teamkilled) I think that Mutsuki had just fun in torping that AFK/bot New York: I can churn out multiple Confederates per day and have some 700 of those flags from 170 Confederates. So I just can't see those as reason to bear bigger part of teams being AFKs/bots. -

Definitely haven't seen any unusual rate of detonations. I have caused very little of those to other DDs. Question is also about other things than citadel armor. Like arrangements to prevent effects of turret penetrating hit reaching magazine. Each gun was provided with a chain hoist which ran directly between the magazine and guns... It is noted in "German Cruisers of World War Two" that the anti-flash arrangements were poor in these ships. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNGER_59-60_skc25.htm I've twice detonated Königsberg with long range Soviet 130mm HE hit to quite weakly armored turret roof so I guess WG modeled also some of that. -

Actually it's been long time since I've previously detonated DD, and those are one of the main targets for Gremy. Yesterday finally managed it to enemy Gnevny, who popped smoke just before I got aim and had to took that pot shot. But looking trajectory grouping seemed to be awfully tight. Have the feeling that getting that tight group of hits to that same spot near magazine increases chance for causing magazine detonation really lot. -

Or at least not get a star without some reasonable amount of damage done or capping. Now even that AFK/bot gets star.
