What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
EsaTuunanen replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
How about meeting one of the most !&?@#!#%&! miserable teams I've had... Only two players were even remotely average, most were bad/total failures like one with 3k average damage in Minekaze meaning torpedo hit once per three matches. Replay here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lr917mvl5dfriif/20151207_183046_PRSD001-Gremyashchy-1942_08_NE_passage%20Looser%20team%20185k%20dmg.wowsreplay?dl=0 And before watching it you might to take some painkiller. Because if already watching battlesh*t New Jerk sail in straight line showing side for about perfect straight angle hits doesn't give you headache you might want to go bang head to wall after watching it. (wouldn't wonder if that failboat skipper kept shooting HE) -
I guess that's where also WG spends their time on picnics because of MM still not having sanity check.
-
This is how you get High Caliber: One of the worst #$@&%*! team of !&?@#!#%&! I've ever seen. Absolutely useless Battlesh*t players like one New Jerk sailing in straight line with side for perfect 90 degree angle hits from Wyoming. Except for that Königsberg also other cruiser players were #$@&%*! pisspoor stats. And how in #$@&%*! can someone have 3k average damage in Minekaze with basically torpedo hit once per every third match?
-
Little short of 206M here... Along with fair 920 +50% XP flags in stock.
-
You basically need to learn to over double the damage you do consistently before you can start dreaming about High Calibers. You can't reach top of the tree before you've learned to climb to higher than lowermost branches. Looking your stats it looks like you haven't yet really learned any class properly. So you should start by taking some ship in which you can do at least something and keep learning it untill you're consistently in upper end of score board. But Atlanta sure ain't going to get those with everyone else being capable to hitting you long before you them. (Soviet DDs would just eat it in gunfight) Murmansk would be viable candidate because of actually being able to hit something from long range. Like Gremyashchy, but you seem to struggle also in that despite of combination of excellent guns and OK good torps. I've myself used it to collect 90 High Calibers and 180 Confederates. (personally bad performance if I'm not in three best scorers... including defeat match) Bad idea to leave enemies alive after just doing some damage, because they'll probably want to shoot back. And number of ships is six.

Especially remember to harass Clevelands by making your planes fly over those when you're tier5 CV.

Wargaming's take on historical reality vs online gaming?
EsaTuunanen replied to vaskemaskina's topic in General Discussion
Lack of armor is exactly what makes destroyers not take much damage from bigger caliber APs. There simply isn't anything solid enough to slow shell enough for keeping it inside the ship until time delay of fuze is over... If that fuze even noticed that shell hit anything because of not meeting enough resistance/deceleration to activate it in the first place. -
And those happen even during times when there should be plenty of players on server, especially around T5. In fact almost feels like worst around T5 screw ups happen during times with lots of players, like MM couldn't handle number of players or something and just vomits up one team.

How about loosing three of four Gremy's guns when cruiser got couple hits to stern?

Countering teamkilling and friendly fire
EsaTuunanen replied to Cmd_Jonzen's topic in General Discussion
In case of torps it's very easy to avoid hitting friendlies even lot longer than that. It's just question of discipline and correct positioning. For non-secondary gunfire it would be definitely doable. Especially for those suborbital trajectory USN guns, like 127mm or 152mm. For 130mm's flat trajectory it's lot harder to avoid, even when shooting farther target. One ship demotion in ship progress/research would work better than "patting on the back". -
You need to learn to get hit less.
-
Favorite chew toy of every gunship DD driven by semi OK skipper... Maybe because of that? Can't even citadel cruiser.
-
You shouldn't just automatically spam HE every moment with 130m. guns. If you're undetected and see cruiser coming closer so that you can get inside 8km of side load APs and wait for that range. Then start doing citadel hits. In best case you can keep doing that for some time from smoke. Low framerates do that. 60fps is lot smoother than old ancient tech era limited standards. Now if only Hollywood would get out of that stone-age 24fps so that faster movement wouldn't either be headache causing jerky or blurry as drunk's vomit.

Should WoWS start charging a monthly fee?
EsaTuunanen replied to Antony1953's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I don't think it has been even week from rant thread of one wallet warrior about bad teams... When he himself couldn't even do one DD worth of damage per match in cruiser and in DD was challenged to get even one torp hit per match. -
Sabaton's The Art of War would be fitting considering properly driven Gremy quite easily kills "DD countering" cruisers. If you would like to try something really different outside pop coming from everywhere movie soundtracks might good place. And I don't mean generic pop trash claimed as soundtrack music but music actually made for movies. Like from names like John Williams, Hans Zimmer etc. There are also many others who have cooperated with Hans Zimmer. Then there are some game soundtracks like Crysis games. Hans Zimmer has also done musics for games If mixing classical and synthesized sounds interesting those made by Christopher Franke's for Babylon 5 might give something.

Just go to Controls-tab in settings and check that "Alternative Battle something..." That does same as keeping alt-pressed without the work of keeping it pressed. (that alt-key should function as toggle)

Looks like gun shell/trajectory special effects have been fixed invisible when playing 0.5.1.2 replays...

Actually sloped citadel armor makes Karlsruhe one one of the few cruisers Soviet 130mm DD AP can't citadel. That's the only positive thing I can say about it considering performance of Karlsruhes in matches.

13.) DD is fragile ship, so for protection you need to stay behind other ships like BBs. Even better place is behind CV. After all enemy DD might spend 15 minutes sneaking around the edge of the of the map trying to back stab your team CV.

That's exactly what encourages AFKs/bots. Most of the XP earning things increase winning chance. Both damage to enemy and capping do that. Spending match running away from enemy helps only enemy team.

Where is the system rock, paper, scissors?
EsaTuunanen replied to TheShield966's topic in General Discussion
Gremy guns say yum yum to cruiser showing its side... Or sailing in straight line 10+km away. -
Why I am done for the day ( at least )....
EsaTuunanen replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
Ability to get stars without doing anything to deserve them does that ruining even better. Farragut (like Mahan) is unstealthy even for USN DD without Concealment mod upgrade ability. Well, at least they should now have torp range in some relation to bad detectability. But as gunships they feel now disappointing because of inability to hunt and kill also cruisers. -

EsaTuunanen replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
Yep, unless at full HP getting overpenned by few BB APs is far from the best thing to happen for DD. Funny thing but I don't remember it as exactly stealthy after Nicholas... unless Farragut has been buffed after CBT. Though of course it's more stealthier than cruisers which can't get even remotely close to DD without getting spotted.
