    How about Coup de Grace to barely alive Minekaze (who few minutes earlier barely escaped) from 12km/8 second flight time away with first three gun salvo in DD? RNGesus sure smiled also in dispersion. Game's stock crosshairs could be lot better. With 2560x1600 that horizontal guideline is also awfully short. And for oblique angle enemies there are no aiming guidelines.

    Because in reality BBs didn't have onboard magician to instantly plug flooding, fix possible shock damage and hull damage usually (+extra weight from flooding and counterflooding) adding drag slowing speed... and even less bringing flooded engine/boiler room back into action. And besides mostly negating long range stealth torping course/speed changes also lessen danger of receiving highly damaging salvo from enemy BB. And anyone considering himself better than bad/mediocre player should always take a note of ships in enemy team and then act according their capabilities during match. But I guess it's just too much to expect modern Homo Urbanus to think enough to actually learn something.

    Probably to avoid getting caught between fire from two directions without chance to effectively angle armor and possibility of torps at same time. Forgot name of who it was one from those more known WoWs youtubers I saw once to take Nikolai to center getting torped by USN DD.

    And matchmaker. Potatoes and weaker ships like Crapruins matter especially in split spawn situations if enemy team is half competent. Then again my highest damage matches are in it and once got to screw enemy and MM back. The sweet sweet revenge.... And hard to do in this kind map because of basically taking other group out of action from doing harm to enemy for five minutes or in case of going through middle exposing sides of the ships directly for enemy to citadel. And way too often it happens by deserting own cap. Solomons is even worser if you're in looser team because of just not having any space to maneuver/cover for trying to limit number of enemies able to shoot you at once.

    Those same people probably complain about low XP/credits when in loosing team... With repair cost of sinked ship always being the same it's hard to see why anyone would want to give up chance to do some more damage to enemy to help to cover that cost. My previous damage record came from aiming to hurt enemy team as much as possible. AP'd 20k Furutaka and then banzai charge torped Wyoming just seconds before enemy capped. (barely surviving with ship on fire) Week later had that sweet revenge...

    Draw isn't anymore really possible... But I favour more making victory as costly to enemy team as possible... Or just solo clubbing them if they don't act wisely as in 200k damage and 9 kills in T5 DD.

    If ship is fully inside and under smoke cloud why should it become fully visible if it starts firing? Only thing that should show is that for certain that smoke cloud isn't empty but there's something hiding inside it. Disabling AA is used when range of AA is longer than ship's detectability by planes. And that's really only surely working defense of DD against dive bombers...

    During more intense action there's no time to read chat. Maybe there could be voice communications shortcut which could be used to inform at least closest friendlies who launched torps and to what coordinates they'll reach. Automatic message from every torpedo launch and also to ships in other end of map would just devalue it so that no one would pay attention after few times.

    And that's probably part of the problem because those second line torpers lack that proper set of balls and instead of taking battle to enemy try to hide behind own team ships. I've literally seen (=avoiding) Omaha spamming 5km range torps to enemies 10km away while basically trying to avoid attacking and shooting enemy with guns. Heck, I've seen Isokaze doing more with guns... How about just saying: Smart as a bag of rocks.The hard drive is spinning but the OS hasn't been installed. Proof that evolution can go in reverse. Lights are on, but there's no one behind the wheel. Two years decayed seed potato in place of head. Or maybe these would be more approriate: Couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. A few boats short of a fleet. Not the fastest ship in the fleet. Only has one oar in the water. At least he charged just crapruins...I've seen Clemson trying to catch away going Cleveland.

    XP has gotten cheap if that little damage got it... Besides isn't it OP when you start often killing half of enemy's cruisers in DD?

    Torps apppearing too late

    Spotting DD should be considered as sign of incoming torps and time to do preventive course/speed change. At least that's what I expect to happen when in DD and getting spotted near BB. Finding and killing approaching enemy DDs should be always first priority. Especially DDs should take part in that... instead of gonig for that usually futile 10+ minute border hug for trying to find unprotected bad CV player with pants down.

    Use of AP should be mastered already with T5 Gnevny. Unless you want to miss those nearing 10k damage salvoes to surprised cruiser. Perfect angle Kuma takes citadel hits from 10km, Omaha from 9km. In close range brawl you'll just shred armor of light cruisers to pieces unless considerably angled. Unless Gnevny has different AP than Gremy.

    So besides weaker Kongo vs Warspite enemy had five gunships to make sure those torp boat DDs didn't do anything... With properly handled Gnevnys in fact being stronger than that fail division of Crapruins and Chesthair. And of course my team's strongest cruiser Cleveland was AFK/BOT to make sure there was never slightest hope.
  19. And while Minekaze is superb torp boat it's pretty much one trick pony and lacks versatility. Gremy's torp speed sure isn't that great and reload speed is really slow for its tier considering just two launchers. But enemies have lot harder time in avoiding gun shells and it's nice to citadel careless cruisers... Who don't even know they're in citadel hit range of enemy until hit. Kuma showing its side in perfect angle gets citadelled from 10km. And Furytaco with guns to wrong direction is easy prey for closer range brawl. In case of low HP cruisers you don't have to care much about return fire because "half hitting" salvo with just two citadel hits does 5k and next salvo follows in 4,5s. Or just rain he(ll) on everything trying to close like this enemy team who wasn't satisfied with point victory. 10 seconds before screenshot moment this target misprioritizing Omaha had 18k hitpoints: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mopr30opd7mcp32/Omaha%20Citadelled.jpg?dl=0 First salvo was little off with two normal pens and two citadel hits. Next two salvoes were all citadel hits... Or at least as far as that Omaha had hitpoints left: Six citadel hits does up to 15k damage. Well, as consolation prize he burned that Langley.

    Don't show cruiser's side to DDs and you'll get citadelled few times less. And you sure those are actual headphones and not some branded Chinese excrement? Gaming brand "headphones" ain't worth one tenth of their price tag with their all around craptacular sound quality.

    Surviving itself isn't the goal and real XP source. But surviving for as long as possible is one of the keys for doing maximum damage and harm to enemy team. What ammunition to use and what target to shoot is just down to getting enough experience.Especially with slower reload guns individual salvoes should count for more. So if target you aim angles his armor and you see other ship showing his side it's time to switch target. Even with faster reloading guns it pays to switch target with APs loaded, unless that original target is just needing that final hit. And while double tapping key for HE (1) or AP (2) forces reload to chosen ammunition that takes as long as normal reload. So if you have target in sights it's better to fire shells already loaded in barrel and double tap wanted ammunition key only after that. (aim cruiser APs into BB's superstructure/bow/stern to get some damage instead of bounces) Winning team gets +50% XP bonus and no doubt more credits. So actually that 600 XP is at least average for loosing team. But if you do really massive amount of damage it's fully possible to be highest scoring player of match despite of being in losing team.     MM fails to give damn about balancing one class difference in other. If that team in disadvantage in BBs even happens to get more DDs with actually good torps other team gets strong gunship DDs or very good cruisers.
  23. Game isn't exactly clear in what skills actually work during retraining. Though kinda suspect it might be also for making player pay doubloons/gold for instant retraining. With high skill points captain amount of needed retraining fast becomes insane like captain suddenly forgot everything when moving to other ship... And 50+ matches without situational awareness would be really nasty situation. As for DD tip those shouldn't stay close to islands constantly. In open DD can detect cruisers from far away and avoid them. Again unless there's someone else spotting to other side of island you never know if it's you who is getting ambushed.

    Where are base XP/damage done details so that we know that did you seal club? And you missed Solo Warrior.
  25. Someone should really compile list of things some people have claimed to happen in this game... IIRC torturing those low tier BBs to death took something like 160+ hits which means something like five minutes of gunning considering non 100% hit ratio. Higher tier USN DDs have firerate but at distance from which they can reliably hit that BB can hit them back and it's unlike rest of team would ignore that BB for long enough time... Unless DD were somehow in the middle of enemy team firing at rearmost BB... Where DD's survival chances would be as good as that of snowman next to city buster thermonuclear weapon aka there's going to be couple km diabeter dent in ground surface. And Soviet DDs with more than four guns can't even dream about sneaking into such place.
