If you play realism card you basically are asking to make CV ultimate force on the battlefield. Sure they would get some nerfs as a result, but the number of nerfs that would hit other classes will be ridiculous. Also you really want to fight against destroyers with true Long Lances? The "invisible" torps that often were shot from such range that were often mistaken for torps from submarines?

No point in lvling IJN CV because of nerfs.

Huge chanege, even if they started working on it right now I wouldn't expect anything for at least 3-6 months. It would be nice to know if it is planned though, but from what I know pipeline in those MMO projects often shuffles and often almost ready features are scrapped so don't expect them saying anything substantial as they are afraid of dissapointing players. -

I highly doubt that you sealclub tier VII ships with Hosho. Did you read what I wrote? I wrote that it is possible to have fun, but you have to force yourself as most optimal play right now is actually a bit stale. Also you have watched some streams but I play those games and really you can't get a feel of the game by watching it. I am not a great player as you will see in this video just by the sheer ammount of ways I messed up (and really most of this game is luck). But I did have fun during it and while not best example as I rarely record my games, it should show kinda what I am talking about. -

Well, I am talking from experience of over 700 CV games and I did play a lot of RTS games when this genre was live and kicking. First you must get rid off the notion that all RTS games are C&C or SC, there were more mellow RTS games and the ones who where mixing other things inside. Slight offtopic regarding SC, even though I have been playing it back in the day, I wouldn't go back to it right now. The Multi in BW was I think most exhausting experience I have had in gaming, where I was stressing over each second. Right now I prefer watching SC2 than playing it simply because I don't have nerves to play it on ladder. Yes, initial grind is kinda annoying and honestly first tiers are only there to let players learn how to manual drop and for anyone who knows what is doing those tiers are borefest, planes are slow, you have low number of them, there is no AAA. Higher tiers are more intresting. And you will have games where your skill can shine and where you will have to keep your attention on multiple places and units. There are issues but I don't think you should think of the tier IV as representative of the whole class. As I said I think normal CV gameplay starts on tier VI. Those are the issues I will want to brainstorm later. -
I wish I could give some DDs in my team an MVP and part of my exp. I had a game against tier X US CV in my Taihou. Game was dragging. Me and Midway were attacking other ships, exchanging fighters and were trying to weaken both our lines. DD decided to hunt, but didn't have spot and thank god he said it as after that I sent DB at the back of enemy formation to show him his meal. The enemy formation was weakened enough that their rear was open. While I attacked Midway at the same time as this DD, my forces alone had no chance of sinking that ship. This DD was essential and he spend pretty much whole game just to do that. After Midway fell, weakened enemy forces pretty much stopped resisting and we slowly killed them one by one while capping their base. Overall, can I have option to give my exp to some players? Some escorts won so many games, some DDs changed games just like that. Some people were just so awesome to play with that I want them to have just more.

High tiers battles have some merit for RTS players. Though the most difficult part is that control scheme really isn't all that good or logical. While there are not a lot of units, you have to focus a lot of attention on them to make manual drops on all TBs and DBs. Whenever I can I try to do each drop individually and not just spam stacked units, it is rather hard, especially when you do this in two places on the map at the same time and have to keep eyes on the minimap to know position of enemy aircraft and it would be advisable to check your ship and it's position related to the other ships (I do play too aggressive and hate map edges, so I collect shells quite often), also there is situational awareness icon which you have to check constantly as this is your DD alert. CV gameplay is not fully fledged RTS, but a mix between DoTa-like games and RTS, something in between. It is rather light version, but It has potential and I can sometimes see the glimpses of greatness. Sadly you pretty much want to have intresting experience and force yourself to do strange more risky (reckless) stuff, as you can play CVs with planes of one type stacked and firing at the same time (strong AAA actually incentivize this gameplay pattern as it is the best option to get through it) and you can play as stationary target and still get great results (high tier planes are really fast and BB citadel hits can wreck you even from 20km). I will go into much more details after 0.4.1, but long story short I do think CVs need a lot of changes (higher skill celling and lower initial difficulty curve is a must), but they are not as boring as you think, just be creative. From tier VI you can have really fun games where you need to be active in 3 places on map at the same time. -

I will try to open discussion about gameplay on low tiers after 0.4.1 and maybe about potential small changes which would make carriers more attractive for new players. For the moment I don't see a point since changes in 0.4.1 sounds rather big and also I don't think forum is calm enough to handle carrier gameplay analysys which conclusion isn't "nerf them to the ground". Also I need more time to give proper feedback regarding this case as honestly doing something right now and not breaking game for CVs or others is quite difficult. -

1.) All are on tier 8 9 and 10 obviously. 2.) Only noobs play them and there are no noobs in WoWs. 3.) All carrier players are too busy writing on forum and neither of them have time to play. Pick your anwser.- 72 replies

I would love for AAA animations to be slightly more dense. More gun traces and stuff like that. It looks really great. Maybe connect it to the graphical settings so it wouldn't hog weaker machines? (AAA guns is just an animation and not simulation anyway). -
Simple statistical analysis on overpowerness of CVs
Ishiro32 replied to NextToYou's topic in General Discussion
Can't you just play like 50-70 CV games? You obviously will do extremely well in them and it would actually be intresting data to see. Results of person who started this line but had experience in WoT. Also since you are Arty expert and all that and you claim both classes are similar, your results should be rather good.IJN line since it is generating most grief and obviously without divisions, solo gaming.- 83 replies

The less broken mechanic appear the harder it is to balance it. I would actually recommend people to abuse IJN CVs while they can so WG will gather the statistic data they need to make changes. Without big sample how they can make good decisions? Think what other issues CVs have to have that even though they are considered strongest class in game there is no big rush to play them.

I understood him, the thing is you don't understand low tier CVs in healthy MM. Low tiers other than couple of ships (US BBs or Yubari) can not have strong AA as low tier CV neither have reserves nor speed to deal with it in any way. The whole idea of low tier is that ships are small and agile so If they make evading manuver fast enough they can negate torp damage. The issue with low tier is that flooding too consistend (2 TB killing tier IV BB in one run) and torp damage is a bit over the top. Still this is issue of power of CVs, not AAA. Thing is that even if you get bad matchup you have options to counterplay in some way or form. Strong AAA on low tier has no counters (there is no skill in using it) and because lack of reserves it generates huge ammount of frustration for CV. We do have low CV population, creating such a horrible experience at the start would only make situation worse. Nerfing damage and carry potential of low tier is the way to go. Making them suffer just because you feel like they are OP is not way to go.
-
You should play tier V IJN when there are 4-5 Clevelands in enemy team and all BBs are American fully upgraded. Even without enemy CV. Those are the games +1 good MM in healthy population can throw and are pretty much impossible to deal with no matter the skill of the CV captain (there is no counterplay).
-
You don't know the 0.4.1 patch details yet and that patch from what we know should nerf strike IJN setups and rebalance fighters. This is good compensation for the AAA Cleveland nerf don't you think? Cleveland will not cause so much frustration for tier V which doesn't have any anwser for it and at the same time damage of CVs will go down and we will see more fighter action in the air which will also reduce damage and will be more fun for carriers themselves. Remember that CV damage is going up exponentialy with each attack wing, so changing TB from 3 to 2 is not 33% nerf but more like 40% or higher. This was the reason why tier IX and X with more than 3 TB wings were completely overpowered. Why it's exponential is simple. When you attack ship with all strike wings and lose 3 planes before they drop, you lose more relatieve power of a strike when you attack with 8 (37.5% damage reduction) planes than you would lose with 12 (25% damage reduction). It is also harder to make anvil attacks and you can't really attack multiple targets at the same time.

I think we should buff Minekaze stealth to minimum 2km.

Taihou you are talking about still doesn't get to meet ships it's supposed to. in 70% of the games I am top tier and in the rest I am meeting pretty much only tier X CV and only 1-2 other players in match have tiers IX. Most popular ship I am meeting is Atago which has horrible AAA even for it's own tier and is usually driven by people who don't know how to sail around CV as this is tier VIII premium which access simply can be bought. There is not enough relevant data to do anything with them or to even fully analyse those games. Also I don't understand why my stats are in any way relevant in this discussion. If you and people who drag around my stats are trying to portay me as someone who is perfectly content about current CV situation and is fanboying because he can wreck people with ease then it is a bit annoying. Case in point I know this is offtopic a bit, but it is really starting to grinf my gear. Please read those quotes from the past. I also often was saying that skill celling for class is too low and should be harder to perform great and was often talking about low tier nerfs. The thing is I can't right now really discuss those things and write my extended feedback on CVs, their problems and solutions, because of people like you. While your complaining is valid it is comming from place " I don't want carriers in game because they are too strong" instead of "Carriers are too strong, how can we make them more in line without breaking them". I am often wasting time trying to explain to people why their ideas would kill the class and I am pretty sure that even If I have created one of my walls of text about CVs some would still drag around my stats and ignore what I said.

Don't get doomsayers get to you. The drop is making sense after initial rush, now WG just have keep patches nad content going. 0.4.1 is planned for August and since this patch should make T5-T8 IJN CVs more in line, it will most likely get a lot of people back. Not to mention we have a lot of very popular ships comming. Also If I remember correctly there are planned some adjustments to the CV MM. Hopefuly with those we will get people who were too frustrated earlier back. Main game will start when we will get some sort of organised play option, like Clan Wars. So you can expect huge spike then. Also there should be huge surge when they decide to let people use free exp and gold from WoT. Overall for the moment, all things considered (summer) population is still pretty good. It will not be WoWP, that's for sure.

What exactly is wrong here? I assume Zuiho... which actually didn't do all that much in this game. I really don't understand your problem.

ANY UPDATE ON MATCHMAKING VS 2 VS 1 ON CVS DEVS

I will try my best next time good sir. I had rough Taihou run, that is true. Was messing a lot of games, true. Will improve, true. Edit. Did I ever say on forum that I am great CV player that you think I should take my head out of my buttocks? -

I would assume IJN nerf will come with the fighter rebalance which is planned I think for 0.4.1? Wait and see. If after fighter rebalance and IJN loadout nerf there will be some issues, then rise concerns. Right now it's pointless as we do not know any details. -

Well said. I liked what you wrote about carrier gameplay lacking appeal and regarding carriers being predator which is forcing other people to play smarter. A lot of people miss those two details. I really do want this hate wave for CVs to clear up. I want to have topics regarding quality of life changes for carriers which would make their gameplay more appealing for new players, interface problem, seaplane tenders for tier 2 and 3 so CV players don't have to grind BBs etc. etc. Sadly there is no ground for discussion like that at the moment. I do think this is mainly problem with lack of coordination, experience and MM. If there are two carriers in game balanced and you want a draw you play basically "Whole team AAA blobs around CV and CVs are fighting with each other". They are so scared about well being of their carriers that they pretty much don't move for at least 10 minutes and after that there is not enough time to kill everyone. Also carriers are to balme for it as a lot of them tend to hang around so far away and do not push with the team. There is also the fact that usually carriers are highest tier in games, so protecting them makes a lot of sense. Also this turtle tactic is rather effective at weakening the attacking force as you have very focused fire and carrier of that team can pick off some alone targets in the meantime. So team who uses it most often is winning, but games are ending with a draw. I had couple of games where I was rallying my team to move forward in formation just so I can avoid draw. I do think people are too scared of the repair bill at high tier and simply don't know when to charge. You might call me hypocrite because how a CV player can be talking about risk and repair bills, when he most often he is so far from the battlefield, but actually sometimes I was called "sucide carrier" , "kamikaze carrier" by both my and enemy team, If you look at my stats you will see that in each carrier above V I have some base capture points and in CBT I killed another Lexington in brawling duel with secondaries. I do what I believe is fun and surviving at all costs isn't fun. Explosions are fun. Everyone should just be more aggresive and kepp their deathball formation rolling constantly and experienced players should take charge in chat so newbies gather around them. -
WoWs was never meant to be historicaly accurate game. They want arcady game in which everyone can have... fun For it, it has to be balanced. History is theme and while it is important to keep this theme going, balance takes priority. This is not simulation. You might wish it was but this is in only your problem, not the devs. They have clear vision for this game, it just isn't the same as yours. Cleveland most likely will be rebalnced in the future for higher tier, anyway.

In upgrades menu where you have listed all your upgrades you can change them. Just click on them. There are also versions of skills with lower cd which cost gold or credits (small arrow near price to change method of payment, advicable to use credits)
