Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Takru replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Had Aerroon in ranked in the opposing team. Second game was more chatting than fighting, really, him being somewhat miffed about losing the first battle... -
Seriously unbalanced ships - that now needs some balance.
Takru replied to Crusherheads's topic in General Discussion
Just tells you that ships are situationally better or less suited to specific environments. Balancing can not, must not and never will be made around a singular game mode.- 25 replies

Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]
Takru replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I certainly am nowhere as good a player as many others and if someone offers advise, I'll always give it consideration. However, this thread was meant to motivate people to be positive about their chosen game, if you are willing to give advise about my playstyle / what I should do differently, I'd respectfully ask you to put that in a PM. Thank you very much. -
Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]
Takru replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Another ranked season and on forums and social media, threads and comments pop up as to how bad the mode is, how bad the teams are, how poor the selection of maps is etc etc as inevitably as death and taxes. I know how you guys feel. Having more than a thousand battles in ranked under my belt, I have been there and seen a lot. Not everything, because people sometimes surprise even seasoned players with their ingenuity or stupidity, but a lot. I've been down there in the rage cave, about to thrash my computer or just sat there, staring in disbelief at my scree, mouth open. And I still see where you come from. The mode is technically a random battle with tier restriction and rewards on a limited selection of maps. But honestly, if you don't like it, nobody will call the KGB to pull you out of your house in the middle of the night. Just leave it be. If you have a number of lost games and feel frustrated, leave it be. If you can not enjoy playing this mode or the game, leave it be. Come back later or just play either of the other two modes. There is two issues I found I had with ranked early on, back in 1st and 2nd season. Lack of fun and lack of progress towards rank 1. My own perceived lack of fun was partly due to the lack of progress but also because of those things described above. However, at some point I reached a level of coolness in that second season that enabled me to just not get too emotional because of things happening on the screen. Sure, I still want to reach rank 1 this season, but for me, it was just a waste of energy to rage about it. Instead, I looked into what I could do to have more fun playing ranked and how I could be more successful while being at it. Example from this season. I started out on rank 13 and tried the Lo Yang first. I played 30 games in her but made very little if any progress, only winning 11 games. Then I looked around and talked to other people and eventually switched to the Benson (B). Some people might argue that a Benson and a Lo Yang aren't drastically different ships. However, in 32 ranked battles with the Benson I won 24 games. I think the lesson for me was: If you can't do well in one ship, try another one whether or not it looks pretty similar on paper. Other people might do well in Lo Yang and I still regard her as a good ship but it seems to me that she doesn't perform well enough when I am sailing her. And this really is the message I want to send here. Keep calm, don't forget it's just a game. Take a break when you need it and play when you are having fun at playing. When you feel like you're hitting a ceiling there, the only thing you can change is you. Change tactics, change how you communicate, select a different ship. Whatever you do, don't burn yourself out on ranked games. (Screeshot to emphazise the point I was trying to make re Benson vs Lo Yang). (also, to whom belong those black SUVs which just stopped outside my ho...) -

That'd be Ev1n, but from what I hear, his PM box is on a server of it's own.

Leningrad im Shop - die Gremjaschtschi für Erwachsene?

Schöne (weil knackig-kurze) Zusammenfassung deiner höchstpersönlichsten Einschätzung. -
http://shipcomrade.com/leaderboard.asp?Name=&A=1&B=5&G=1&S=5&R=118&C=0 I don't know if that list is complete, but it appears that there's not yet that many people on rank 5, let alone higher than rank 5.

Personally, I would have stayed much closer to A instead of going that far south, because it takes you away from the action for quite a while. But again, that's just me.
-
Not what I wrote and neither did I imply that. But if you chose to read it that way, that's your decision. I merely questioned the usefulness to your team when you were sailing that far away from your teammates in a DD that is a very good allrounder and as such could potentially be more helpful further north in the beginning.
-
Oh, forgot about that. Wasn't shorter by much, was it?
-
You can mount the Defensive Fire consumable on the C hull.
-
Alright, so the Mogami was pink and attacked a teammate, so he died. Personally, I'd not wander south as much as you did in the beginning of that match. That took you away from the action for 2-3 minutes and while you managed to delete the almost dead Kutuzov, it left your teammates around A open to an enemy DD sneaking up on them. But that may just be me. Then again, I don't see why your teammates in the north didn't sail for A as well...

Conway... how did you turn pink... yet again?

If there was some more challenge or special things or whatever not in PvE, I'd dip in there occasionally as well.

Essex, Patch 5.12.: Victory with 156K damage and still loosing credits, WTF?
Takru replied to B010011A's topic in General Discussion
He isn't running premium account, hence his result is -27k Would be good if we could see if any prem consumables / camo were uses, though. -
Handing out a T7 premium ship for achieving rank 1 three times in ranked battes ... not being able to use it in ranked battles
-
If a good player can cope with MM better, then MM does not seem to be the issue. You chose Tirpitz from the ships he played, but how does she not suffer from MM? Also, why don't the other T7+ ships you mentioned earlier suffer as much?
-
Why would above average WTR mean that someone has no clue about the real problem? He's been playing T8, where he is easily bottom tier in several games, how does that contradict his point of view?

Whole fleet of Flints :x -
No point in cluttering the current system with an excessive number of additional stuff. Just make throw flags, modules, prem consumables and creditz in there, may be the occasional dubloons package and you're fine.
