Some interesting info around the world

RU Forum Jluca wrote that ranked season 6 might be delayed and not start in February RU Forum Jluca confirms that patch 0.6.1 will come in February, though. In February, of course

Thanks for your statement. Not that it was actually needed because everybody except that one guy understood that you were neither cheating nor exploiting anything. Still, great display of your Clan's sportsmanship!

You see, Shima can work without RPF, too. If someone else has RPF on the enemy team and you get detected by it, you know beforehand. If nobody has it, nothing has changed for you. If you insist on trying to sneak around the enemy flank alone, far away from your team, you will be hunted down a lot more easily if someone has RPF and is relatively nearby to you.

As I wrote before, I share that opinion. You're still salty because of the ranked battles I sank you in, huh? Can't find them atm*, but if you think about it, when do most people come to the forums? Either they want to know something or they want to complain about something. Think about how often you visit the homepage of your local groceries or bank or hairdresser and comment on how well their services are when you are satisfied. How often do you voice your opinion when you are not satisfied? *incidently, there are several social-economic studies regarding this as it's the basis for any customer relation for any company.

Which essentially is the same "against RPF", isn't it? ;-)

It might also easily be those people how are dissatisfied for whatever reason and just voice their opinion because of their dissatisfaction. It's much more commonplace to rally against something than to rally for something.

Point being that Sub_Octavian actually addressed that in saying that the community feedback is important to them, but that it's only one of many things they take into consideration before making any decisions. Pigeon_of_War, NA WG staff, said in a podcast that on average, a combined maximum of 5% of all players voice their opinions on the Forums, Reddit, Facebook etc. And of those, you sometimes get controversial opinions, for example, on the RU Forum one consencus seems to be that 0.6.0 was a massive nerf for BBs because of how the (new) skills were spread out, wheras RPF wasn't all that much of an issue over there (can't read Russian and have to rely on google translate, so take with a pinch of salt). This is why it is misleading to assume that those who voice their opinion are representative of the majority of the playerbase as a whole (although I, too, would like to see RPF go rather today than tomorrow).

Been running RPF on some DDs so far. Granted, not that many games yet, but I am listening to the experiences of other players. The picture which is forming for me now is this: RPF is a tool. Whether or not it is useful depends on how good you can wield that tool. Someone who does not pay much attention to his surroundings will not find it useful. Someone who is very aware of the position of his team, the enemy team, himself and team composition will find it very useful. The "better" (for lack of more appropriate word) you are at the game, the easier it will be for you to succeed, with or without RPF. Because, if you run into someone who is using RPF on you, it already tells you a bit about his whereabouts as well. In short, it makes better players perform better, whether or not they choose RPF, while it does nothing to help weaker players. However, RPF hasn't been in the game for long and personally, I haven't run into a lot of people making use of that skill, although I can not be sure how many actually picked it in the battles I played. That said, for me it has never been an issue in a negative way and it was quite an advantage to have several times I sailed out, i.e. in my Benson. If the next ranked season starts next month, I assume we'll be seeing a lot of ships with RPF in ranked battles and then we'll really see how badly it affects that mode. With Concealment Expert reduced to 4 points I assume we'll see a lot more close combat this season, so I fully expect more Bismarcks close combat this season.

Watched the stream as well and at least for me, it was rather unstable. Had to refresh the stream every now and then and thus missed a bit here and there. Don't know if that was due to something on my end, although I didn't have anything else running at the time.

So, why don't you play Carriers?

+10% rate of fire for secondaries in itself isn't worth it, imho. Somehow I seem to see less DDs now than before the patch, so Vigilance isn't all that important to me. Also, I run out of repairs frequently, so that is another good argument for Superintendent, for me at least.
  12. Takru

So, why don't you play Carriers?

That might have changed with the new skills. Mind you that BFT now costs 3 points and competes with other skills, i.e. Superintendent.
  13. Stats on ships which are in the game much longer are misleading. Too many changes which are not visible in the stats. 1-2 week old stats are what you need to look at.

There is no bug. There is no exploit. RNCL are fine T6+ Stop trolling, you're boring. We've seen way better quality trolls here, you're not even close. ..who refuse to accept given facts when they instead make up their own fantasies, declaring things equally bugs or exploits that are meant to be in the game, because they're neither. You really need to take off your tinfoil hat every now and then.

Yes, it does. There is nothing illegal nor a bug to be seen here. What you are raging about is perfectly legal within the usage of the game. Nothing stops people from trying to get into the same battle. Again, it's not as if you could somehow prevent that from happening in the first place, even if it was not allowed. Have a few people join a voice comms of your choice, count down and then pray that they end up in the same battle, on the same side. Yet again, clantags just visualise with whom people are associated with. You can see that happen even unintentionally. Heck, it happens to me as well, have had clanmates on in the same battles by pure chance. Or just take large clans such as MDIV as an example. Given the sheer size of the clan it's more than likely that they'll run into each other every now and then. Does it mean they're gonna try to rig the battles? No. What rigging anyway? For yet another Myoko? If you think people want or need to rig battles just to get that ship, I would want to know what kind of base XP per battle you do earn to suspect others might be so desperate as to try to rig battles. Contradiction much? *brakes

Yeah, because this was total news to everybody until you made it public. It's not like, i.e. iearlgrey sometimes has a countdown running so people watching his stream can streamsnipe play in the same battle. Similarily, people didn't try to get into the same battes before clans[tags] were introduced, right? Right?

Now everybody can know that without having to learn all those names. What's bad about it?

How the "majority" of non-forum players see RDF/RL

Didn't notice RPF all that often in the few games I played so far, but what I noticed was that I never saw more than 3 DDs per side in either of those matches.

    Developer Q&A - 20/01 16:00 CET

Expert Rear Gunner: Now twice the cost for same lack of effect.... just why? I can't assume you were sitting in your office and thought "Hey, that's a rather effective skill, this clearly needs to be more expensive." Lack of skills for CVs: Even when I take all the skills that are specifically meant for CVs (example here) I still have points left over. Will you tweak / add more for CVs in the near-ish future or will that have to wait until you're done redesigning CVs? Smoke Screen Expert: Does this affect the speeds at which British cruisers get their second smoke puff? The way smoke is being calculated seems to rather unintuitive and in the case of these cruisers, the game should always render both puffs regardless of whether the ship actually stops or sails at full speed. Same question for Perth, will smoke screen expert allow her to sail at half speed instead of quarter speed while remaining undetected? Firey Landing: It is a very situational skill that even comes with a quite heavy penalty, still it does cost 3 skillpoints. Do you really think it's worth that many points? Looking at it from an investment / return point of view, I'd swapt it with Evasive Maneuvers. Demolition Expert: Keeping in mind the concerns Sub_Octavian voiced regarding battleship population, I wonder why this skill does affect secondaries as well. Granted, it should not be that much of an issue, but I still wonder what your reasoning was here. RPF: Do you have contingency plans for if you should find it as much or about as much detrimental for the game as an apparent majority on the Forums and Reddit (Yes, I know this represents only a small fraction of people who play the game) said it would be? Testing phases: How much time has to pass, in general, until you feel you can say if something you implemented or changed was a success? May be you could pick German destroyers as an example here? There is a naval museum nearby and they have a German Type XXI sub there. Any chance for me to get it ingame? Did Welldone choose his nickname with his current position (Economics & Metagameplay Team Lead) in mind? If yes, is he sarcastic or ironic? Mead. Honey or cherry?
  23. Somehow this FAQ manages to adress litereally none of the questions and concerns raised. Seriously, anything we've seen so far from Wargaming when it comes to RPF is nothing more than marketing talk. Here's a question for you: What if, in the end, the community should be right in this case? What if RPF really alters the game in the way many people have outlined? I suppose you will change the skill in that case, but will you also alter the way you're taking feedback into account? In this instance, my impression is that the general opinion is pretty much the same all across the board.
