    Strangers123, just for you :P

  2. I mean we had one noob with us - strangers that 85% survivalrate guy I know what you mean and as you can imagine, I agree - we never intended to present it that way. But I have to say I was amazed how fast our less experienced players were able to adapt and enjoy that mode - to see how people like Jingles actually reconsidered their opinion about WoWS as a competitive game and dragging them back into WoWS as a game itself. The german team had the same issues we had when it comes to time but they're a great bunch of guys we had a lot of fun and laughs with. You got to cut some slack for everybody sitting up there - first time ever on a stage like this, playing in front of a crowd that's there for tanks and not ships - and with the "don't frack this up" in your mind Admittedly - as a guy who never really was into WoT I was pretty impressed about what I saw the past few days in Warszaw. There were some crazy matches and it seemed pretty intense, skilled gameplay that was enjoyable to watch, even with a limited knowledge about the game. I hope it won't take four years to turn WoWS into a viable eSports division for WG though
  3. Agreed, all I can say is that we've never stated that we're pros and made it clear on the forums and whoever asked us that this isn't supposed to be any kind of "best of the best thing". I actually asked people to remove any kind of reference to a "battle of the best" on certain media to make sure people don't have wrong expectations. You can check out our posts regarding this before we even took off to Warszaw - I'm pretty sure the host just tried to make it look more important and dramatic than it was, I mean what was he supposed to say? Here we see two mediocre teams mixed with good and casual players that only had a few occasions to actually train as a team. @von_Boeg: No idea, this was done on such a short notice and I'm not sure how WG feels about pouring money into an eSport thingy for WoWS in the future. Imho there are other things that need to be addressed first and with the apparent lack of UI, etc. this is probably a glimpse in the possible future for WoWS - but still far away. In general the information we had / have are very limited, we tried to make the best out of it and I think considering how things went down we did our best to ensure that it was an enjoyable match. I hope we get the replays at some point and maybe we can do a little chitchat video about it as a team, showing you what you've missed or what funny things happened during that match.
  4. We don't. We're talking to the EU community staff and they report back to higher places - we're always passing along our feedback and yes, this will be one of the things that at least I'm going to pass along - although when it comes to the specific topic of yesterday's matches and presentation my feedback is going to focus mostly on this to make the next event - if there's any - a better experience for all of us and what we expect to see... greater things.
  5. Seriously dude? What has any of this to do with our status of community contributors and how the hell is us playing in premium ships a bad thing compared to anybody else? We're the ones who are presenting this game - with all its good and bad things - to a broad audience and I've always been honest about my opinion when it comes to WG and WoWS. People like strangers and me always try to win a battle and this means we pick the best setup that's possible for us - if that includes a premium ship, then so be it. Us NOT picking these ships to disguise the current meta of certain ships would've been the better thing you say - wouldn't that be a bit shady to try to hide the fact that certain ships excel at certain things / roles? This discussion with you is over - you're trying to drag people in the mud with your condescending and accusatory posts about guys that are actually trying to get your feedback to the right people, the guys that are trying to help this game grow and become a better place each day. Just because we don't do the things you want us to do according to your belief? Wow. @Trigger: This wasn't a showcase for the game in general, this is an ESL event. It was about showing how a dynamic, action packed but still serious attempt at eSports could look like - with limited time and a short preparation phase. Most of the people watching have no clue about WoWS but you expect them to see the difference between a Lexington and a Shokaku, a Lo-Yang and a Benson, Mogami and Atago - with the kind of commentary we saw yesterday?
  6. Wow, that reddit pic is pretty evil
  7. Ranked? Ranked relies so much on RNG, MM and just pure endurance to get up, it's not due to premium ships but it's easy to blame that for everything that's wrong with the game, right? Did I say that I approve of that, did I say they shouldn't rebalance them? But I got your message, I think everybody did by now.
  8. I never said they were balanced or the situation perfect, I just said this is something that wasn't the focus right now nor the issues that this event had - and that in TB you can usually overcome superior ships by superior gameplay. I actually doubt that the strong premiums actually alienate strong competitive teams, they're going to buy them anyway - just look at the top teams. Yes I'd love to see a rebalance, too - do I want to keep beating the dead fish over and over again in this thread? No.
  9. This is teambattle mode and the only thing you can actually use for a competitive mode, and it's on Tier VIII. I don't see the point in showing off other Tiers - on Tier V you'd still see Murmansk / Gremy and whatever. The theme of the weekend was eSports and ESL - sorry but I think that whole premium ship discussion belongs somewhere else. After watching the VoD...about the commentary and in particular the camera action I can understand the frustration - especially when you played these battles yourself you can see where a lot of good footage and amazing things/moments just get absolutely lost in tracking shells, torps and planes. They did really good introductory videos for each WoT map, would've been great to have that for WoWS as well - but as I've said, most of this is still in early development and despite a few hickups I'm glad that WG did it. I hope we get to see a few WoWS related guys doing the camera / commentary, Ectar was a bit on his own trying to cover general game mechanics, basic strategies and the current gameplay while getting hopped around the map by the casters. So with dedication to map design, UI improvements, general balancing and more love for commentary / camera this could actually work out, although it'll never become that fast paced action thing a lot of the FPS or WoT audience are after.
  10. Mir ist gerade erst aufgefallen wie sich denn mein neuer deutscher Kapitän nennt. Darf ich vorstellen, Karl Biermann! Habt ihr auch so tolle Namen?
  11. I agree with all of the points besides the last one - it's not about showcasing, we just used what we'd be using anyway and there wasn't any motivation behind it except for picking whatever fit our gameplay best. Also keep in mind that this wasn't a grand league final, but a simple showcase in general. Most of the WoT guys in the crowd wouldn't have been able to tell the difference anyway. Otherwise thanks for the more constructive approach!
  12. Just arrived at home to read some delightful toxic comments and personal attacks, very helpful and much appreciated. First of all let me say that this has been a very interesting thing to do, to get to see how things work behind the scenes and to see where an eSport-approach could lead to. This was the first attempt ever to do something like this and conducted on a very short notice for everybody. I haven't seen the VOD of Twitch yet, I've heard / read quite a few things and there seems to be a lot of room for improvement, some things are just simply down to the current lack of a proper way to display certain things in WoWS (like the UI, they weren't able to read the full names) and casters / commentary of people not really familiar with WoWS and TB in particular. I have no clue where you guys got the idea from that is was supposed to be some kind of super-top-notch gameplay action - we always stated that this is a showmatch, not a showdown of the best teams. If WG wanted to show that they'd have invited the current top teams. We had a great bunch of people that have a very different background in WoWS and how they play it - playing in a showmatch - basically promotion for WoWS and a glimpse at what it could be / what needs to be tackled to make it viable and enjoyable in the future. The whole discussion about who got to go there is pretty ridiculous, on the EU team you saw a lot of your community contributors (those who could make it) - actually being able to meet and buddy up as a team for the first time ever like this - and it was a pleasure to meet all of these fine gentlemen! I think considering how few time we got to actually prepare for this we did a pretty good job, keeping a decent balance between good entertainment and actual good gameplay to go for the win. Same thing applies to Team Germany - a team assembled by Mootality. I don't think it would've made a difference if WG sent KK / NESI / MDIV/ OM / OMNI or whoever feels entitled to be the best team in the world ever, the basic problems would've been the same and the actual gameplay more static and less appealing due its more strategic and careful approach. It also doesn't really matter what ships we used, it was more about actually showing what TBs actually could be / are like, what kind of ships you usually see and surprise, yes a lot of the currently strongest ships for this mode are premiums due to their very nature like the Mikhail. I wouldn't say they are inherently OP, except for the Atago probably, but they just fit the current meta / requirements for most teams doing TBs. Funnily enough we had a chat with some of the russian guys of WG and the meta on their server is a bit different. When we chatted with our assigned caster in between the battles we could tell that it was very overwhelming for them to deal with WoWS compared to the pretty straight forward and established WoT action. I'll watch the video later and see if I can make a more educated statement about the show as it presented itself - I'm sure our guys enjoyed it thoroughly, the whole show in Warszaw (as an event) was crazy and impressive - if we could get something remotely close to this for our favourite game you'd love it. I'd just like you guys to stay a bit more objective and reasonable, try to help WG actually improving this and making it a thing instead of trashtalking and laying it to rest.
  13. ...tactical beachings! I'm really looking forward to this and keep in mind this is about doing some promo for our game, not about the best team worldwide. Both teams have great players, so we should see a good show! btw. it's on Saturday, not Sunday!
  14. I've met LetsRockAndRoll today in random battles, unfortunately MM didn't like him and he had to fight our Tier VIII division in his Budyonny. Well fought and a nice guy

Some interesting info around the world

Well, that's due to the devs being mostly russian and thus their focus is on their russian community - unfortunately. I can tell you that the WG EU community team is trying but they're also limited by the freedom / infos granted from the motherland. They're devs, not the PR section. I still hope we can improve this for the EU community ... events like the grand finals on the weekend might be a good opportunity for us to get in touch with some people and maybe get some attention to this problem. Otherwise... you speak russian, does it really matter on what forums you ask these questions? You could pass along the questions you deem interesting and just post the translation here, would be much appreciated. I know it's not perfect, but at least you get the chance to ask your questions.

There's a difference between freedom of opinion and the validity of that opinion. Yes, you're entitled to have your opinion and a lot depends on the point of view, but complaining about one of the best moneymakers even for average players is pretty hilarious. It's not like WG is advertising it as "do x amount of credits per battle"... some people just feel way to entitled to get something just because they spent RL money on it. The car average consumption is a nice little comparison - it depends on the driver. You can't travel at 200 km / h and expect to have the same consumption as on "average". If a player lacks the ability to actually play his ship to at least some degree successfully, then it's not WG's fault. Even on losses you make craploads of money.

[Guide contest] Tier 8-10 IJN BBs!

That has been my issue, too. It's a very specific topic covering the Amagi, Izumo and Yamato - but you need to cover basically everything from basic game mechanics, advanced game mechanics and well - you end up with a complete guide for everything. I have to admit that this is something I didn't want to commit to - there are so many amazing guides (that are actually posted already) out there, I think that it would make more sense to build up on that and then do guides for classes in general. You can go into detail afterwards what's special about certain ships and why they're special or harder to play than others. But that's just my 2 cents on this

[Guide contest] Tier 8-10 IJN BBs!

Congratz ShockPirat! I honestly think you did a way better job and explained a lot of things in more detail. Enjoy your Warspite and I hope a lot of BB captains can learn something!
  19. Today I've met Cosseria for the first time ever I think, nice dude and too bad that we ended up on different teams - in the morning I was fighting alongside ghostbuster and we won our battle pretty decisively

[Guide contest] Tier 8-10 IJN BBs!

Nope - it depends on the task you need it to do and on your own playstyle. Imho the Iowa is the better package and the NC has a lot of good traits - its only issue is being less accurate.

[Guide contest] Tier 8-10 IJN BBs!

Work and streams got in the way, going to send mine in at late night today - finished. But ShockPirat did an amazing job there, wow.
  22. Saw Tugnut, Ictogan and Robs in a division tonight - got very odd MM though. It was still a pleasure
  23. Hey there fellow forumites, I'm happy to annouce that we're going to do a special stream next thursday (24th March - around 14:00 CET) with a few members of the WG staff (MrConway and Tuccy) on my twitch channel https://www.twitch.tv/crysantos. The idea is to do a nice Q&A session while testing the russian cruisers and I'm looking for YOUR questions. Try to focus on questions you might have regarding russian cruisers, but you can also ask more general questions. Please send them to me via PM or post them in this thread, I'll try to select the best and most interesting ones up until this sunday (20th March). I'm sure MrConway and Tuccy will try their best to answer the questions, but keep in mind that some things might still be in development or can't be disclosed yet. Greetings, Crysantos
  24. Just saw cherry2blost in a triple Kirov division - pretty scary thing, fortunately my team managed to win the other flank and secure the win
