I mean, let's not pretend surface ships don't benefit from WG's historical blindness: Not being set on fire/flooded by AP shells. Ability of ships to regenerate health at the push of a button. Having a 'put fires out now' button on a one minute cool down. This also applies to module damage, the Bismarck would've made it back to France if it had remembered to press the 'r' key. Buffing of rate of fire (particularly destroyers) Never running out of fuel and/or ammunition (primary, secondary or AA) - though thinking about it, giving ships a finite stock of aa ammunition might be a good idea, what do you think? flags to make ships move faster some destroyers having insane AA (Halland). Destroyers being able to survive 15" shell hits (this is untrue, Warspite blew up a German DD in one salvo in RL The list goes on.

Hi All, In my yearly mind games to try and avoid buying Satan Santa crates, and my desperate need for a Belfast, I crunched the numbers in an attempt to cure my hunger for these crates. I found the expected cost per ship for a TX and a special ship very helpful in terms of deterring irresponsible spending. The bulk price is the 20% discount you get for buying in bulk. I note that if you have more of the lower tiered ships, your odds are better, I could run the numbers, but I think it is largely theoretical as most people seem to think the game starts at tier 8, and don't buy hordes of t5-7 premiums. I also note that most players will have some T9/X premiums from coal farming, which skews their odds negatively. I am unclear on how the compensation mechanics work, e.g. if you role a (T7) hood, and you already have her, does it re-roll into any premium ship, or just a T5-7 ship? This is bad advice, your sole job is to deal damage, defending your team, and to a lesser extent, spotting is sub optimal play.

Yes, but WG are very good at hiding the cost per ship, judging by the drops people are publishing, crates look far more generous than they are.

I mean you are right, but my they got a lot less attractive when I realised it would cost me a minimum of £280 for a chance at a rare ship….

Hi All, I went through the first 15 pages of the santa contest (here) and I pulled the numbers to see what the most popular ship was. The results surprised me. Does anyone know why the Smaland is so popular?

I mean ships are about £15 a ship in Santa crates, it’d cost you £240 to get all those ships, but good luck getting the iwaki alpha…

My theory is that Tirpitz can be bought for money and the massa can be bought on Black Friday. Also they’re both only t8, so things like Georgia, and others are just better. I’m more shocked people aren’t asking for georgia

I mean, most of the time you know there's a DD there anyway, and you usually know when you are spotted, so I seriously think this is overblown.

I mean how? I am not denying it’s a disadvantage, but i don’t think it’s as big of an impact as you say.

I mean, if a DD dies from being too close to your team, and is then spotted, it would probably have died anyway, DDs have other ways of protecting themselves (smoke and speed), so I seriously think this argumentis overblown.
