  1. Torpedoes. Small submarine weapons that detonate below the waterline, below the armor of a ship. Japanese torpedoes used pure oxygen and produced few bubbles, making them almost undetectable. American torpedoes used regular air, producing a lot more bubbles. Depending on the location of a hit, a torpedo could do light damage/flooding or sink a ship of any size. The reason people die so much of torpedoes in this game I think is due to two things: Aircraft carries dominated ww2. While big guns might range up to 30km, aircraft ranged up to 600km. Large surface vessels such as battleships and cruisers often saw no other action than escort duty and part of a fleet, or fire support as part of a landing. Only on a few occasions did they do battle with each other. At Midway, the Japanese fleet retreated after the loss of their carriers, rather than risk being picked off by planes from Midway or the remaining American carrier. This game is about ship to ship action fun. Aircraft carriers have been greatly reduced in effectiveness for this. Because of this there are a lot of torpedo kills in the game, not because they are overpowered. There is just a lot more opportunity for it. Had there been no aircraft in ww2, perhaps the number of torpedo kills would have been vastly greater in that war. Secondly, it's a game and not reality. In reality fleets and ships follow rules and plans of operation. A loss of any warship is a great loss, due to the cost in lives and the slow production cycles of these war weapons. There were not to many maverick captains in ww2 that would launch high risk assaults. If an action like a torpedo attack has a 70% change of being survived by the attacker, a player will take it. A ww2 captain would rather not risk his ship and men even if the chances are favourable, and prefer to let the carriers or long range battleships deal with an enemy. Players don't care about their ships loss, since they can respawn the next match. This makes them take high risks actions such as torpedo runs on battleships and cruisers. Also, at the same time, it makes them sail their battleships and cruisers into harms way. I saw many a video on youtube where big ships sail in narrow lanes between islands (btw awesome commentary some of you guys like iChaseGaming). If you get killed by torpedoes, it's because you let the enemy get within range. Torpedoes are actually underpowered. They should have a chance of killing with 1 hit, depending where they hit. Ofcourse the programmers can always analyse the use and effectiveness of torpedoes in the game and make adjustments in their effectiveness. Well that's my 2cents worth of thought.
