Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion
Affeks replied to ImperialAdmiral's topic in Battleships
Personally I dont think RM ships (other than DDs) should have speed boost. It is already kinda decided that its the French's gimmick. French BBs were also known to be quite fast compared to contemporaries. Italian ships are very similar to Russian ships by the fact that their gun characteristics are identical. High velocity guns is the name of the game. The italians shared most their designes with russia hence the similarity. AA barrage is not really fitting either since AA is utterly beaten by US ships (the 90mm arent really that good). Stealth is the English Battleship flavor now for some reason. So I really see no reason why Romas (and other italian ships') strength/flavor shouldn't be its guns. -
Haha you dont even have that common misconception in check... Im done here

Okay so Montys 1.9 sigma is better than Conquerors 2.0 sigma, and the fact that Conqueror dont need to give up reload module to get dispersion module makes Monty more accurate how?!

I dunno, WG just seem to really suck at balancing anything other than 4x3 and 4x3 just ends with a powercreep. GK should have been 4x2 (as the H-class BBs were designed), but WG didnt want to even attempt to balance it for some reason... As for Conqueror, it only had 4x2 to begin with, but later they cave it 4x3 for some hecking reason. WG has really dissapointed me with both those tier Xs. I mean FdG is really fun AND true to H class design plans and Lion... Well they put 419mms on it for some reason, but hey its better than putting triple turrets on ships which are obviously designed for dual turrets.. WG seems to have no knowledge on ship design at times.

In a Yamato I fear anything but Montana. Conqueror is the one I fear the most after meeting another Yamato. When I look at stats, ship size and performance as well as personal experience, I have nothing that relly favors Montana. making so many Tier 10s with 4x3 layout makes it difficult to avoid powercreep. Wg should instead try other layouts to create diversity instead of powercreep. Conqueror and especially GK should never have been 4x3 layout to begin with. Lousy decision by WG

Havent played NC, but Alabama has some of the best BB guns tier for tier I have ever used. And thats coming from someone used to IJN BB shells like Izumos insanely fast shells.

Personally I really love the turret layout on Gascogne, its basically Bismarck but way more compact. Then again quad turrets dont really make for good fields of fire haha. I would both buy Gascogne and that Battlecruiser as premiums, way too unique to give up. The tier 10 I hope for is 3x4 16", it keeps both the quad turrets and has a caliber progression over Alsace if it has 3x4 15". I guess the turret layout (AB-X) would be superior to Montana/GK/Conq (AB-XY), but it could have a tradeoff by having worse guns/shells. A 4x4 15" is way to unblanced and would be a ruthless cruiser killer even with garbage accuracy. We have so many 4x3 setups I really dont want another (still beats me why WG didnt use a 3x3 rapid fire 16" setup for Conqueror, would be way more unique and I have yet to see another upcoming line with such a setup). The 450mm setup would be simply inferior to Yamato unless they give it some insane characteristics.. And such characteristis are limited to Russian ships and I think WG would rather save such guns for russian BB project 24 with 3x3 457mm guns. Caliber progression is the stupidest thing WG ever did, I mean look at RN BBs lmao, Queen Elizabeth 15" - KGV 14"/Nelson 16" - Monarch/Vanguard 15". But Yeah with Dunkek at tier 6 with the historically trash AA, designed (and not the historically reached) speed and bad accuracy I cant see Strasbourg being anything but a tier 7 premium. My guess, WW2 refit, more HP (due to extra weigth from refit), gimmick (spood beest?) and much better accuracy (1.8-2 sigma) Anyway hope they give Dunkerque the historical 31 knot top speed some time. I hate how wg use trial/reached speed on some ships while using designed speed for others..

Before I saw what happened to KGV I would say the battlecruiser would be the tier 7, but after Im thinking Gascogne will be the tier 7. As for tier 9 I dont think the 3x3 16" Alsace will make the cut, it is more comparable to a treaty BB than Iowa, as well as its guns would not be on par with Iowas mark 7 guns with mark 8 AP, Freddys 420s or Lions 419s. Im on the 3x4 team, it would be more unique compared to existing and upcoming tier 9s (Sovetsky Souyuz and UP.41) as well as keep the MN quad turrets. I hope they skip Normandie and Lyon though, slow ships with little room for improvement and with crappy guns. Instead I hope they keep tier 6+ exclusively fast BB/Battlecruiser. As for tier 10 I have no opinion, but for Strasbourg I find it difficult to justify it in both tier 6 and 7... Tier 6 could work, but Dunkerque makes it difficult.

Kiimoto, Ishizuchimoto, Mutsumoto and Yamatomoto. For me it will be all all of the above and Ashitakamoto whenever she gets out there :D

Not really, they instead spent major effort to modernize the Kongo class battlecruisers into fast battleships which served them well during the war. Theh also modernized others, but they werent nearly as usefull. Tbh for the IJN the Kongo class battleships were much more usefull than the Yamato sisters during WW2 simply for the fact that they were fast and able to keep up with carrier groups.

Yep, Tosa would most likely be the next IJN tech tree tier 8. It was laid down and evrything, but some was scrapped and one converted to a CV after the naval treaty similarly to Amagi. Tosa became Kaga, and Amagi became Akagi, both super famous carriers. Tosa is a BB counterpart to Amagi being a battlecruiser, they are both similar, except Tosa is 3.5 knots slower, has thicker belt, was going to have better secondaries and was 20m shorter (also in WoWs it would have about 3k less HP). The conversion of Amagi and Tosa classes made Kii a decently famous paper ship as Kii would also have been converted to a CV if it was laid down. Kii itself is also famous because it would have been one if not the first true fast battleship ever made, trading neither armor or armament for battlecruiser like speeds. As an IJN fanboy I am not dissapointed in Kii being a premium, the only other tier 8 premium option would have been Hiraga's 1928 treaty BB design, but that is not really a famous paper ship compared to Kii. Tosa is a must have for a second IJN BB line if it were to happen.
-
Tbh I would love this, we already have 6 km torps on german BBs so if they gave Kii some longer range one it would open a different use for the torps. Torping from behind cover or torp then turn to kite instead of just a straight forward torpedo run.

I dont mind the sigma too much, but the hecking slow reload and turret traverse might actually make me hold off. If they fix 2 out of those 3 weaknesses I will pick it up.
-
Ahh thanks for letting us know!!! This tells me youre looking for the right time to release her. Im guessing a little while after Nelson since we wont need too many tier 7 BBs at the same time haha
-
This is way too true, the lolpen Yamato has is overrated these days. What really makes it strong is 2.1 sigma + IJN dispersion pattern. This would make any BB really strong and/or make it fit a tier higher.
-
That last part makes sense Still musashi is very much a copy of Yammy, but weaker AA (only half long range AA), worse secondaries (WG would use the WW2 refit where her wing 155s were removed, leaving her with 2x3 155s and 6x2 127s) 10mm weaker belt and a couple thousand less HP. All this means that WG would have to soft buff it anyways. So avoiding soft changes is impossible.
-
They could always give Musashi the historically correct turret traverse of 2 degrees per sec/90 sec 180 degree turn time. Personally I would never buy Musashi if its tier 10 since we already have yamato, but if they made Musashi different in some ways and put it at tier 9 then it would actually be unique enough for me to buy. Remember the three things that make Yamato strong is lolpen, 2.1 sigma (best in the game and would make any BB really strong) and armor layout. As we know sigma is a soft stat, so push that down to 1.7-1.8. Historically the 460mm had arguably much worse RoF, so that can be pushed as far as 1.5-1.8 rpm. Main belt is a tiny bit weaker, as well as secondaries and AA is significantly weaker even with Musashis late war refit. Many naval historians consider Yamato class a contemporary to Iowa class (despite what IJN wanted Yamato to be) so leaving out the dreaded Iowa vs. Yamato is kinda sad, I want the two on the same tier in one form or another to give them an equal playing ground.

Silver bonuses is the bonus I need tge least lmao -
You mean tier 9 right
-
I bet Tosa will be the tier 8 BB in the next IJN BB tech tree.... In other words not any time soon unfortunately..
-
Though I find Mutsu to be a little weak, I really love the ship. I hope WG didnt misunderstand my message and thought I didnt like the ship. I would never discuss a ship that much unless I actually like the concept/premise of the ship. Still hope they get Ashitaka out there, as well as Haruna as tier 6 prem and Hiraga 1928 treaty BB as another tier 8. I mean the more I think about IJN BB potential I need to remind myself that its all most likely far in the future.

Finally the high tier IJN BB we've been looking for. Wallet is ready

I never said I skip ships to save silver lmao, I only implied the option of skipping ships is out of the question when saving up free xp Anyways this discussion is worthless since our play philosophies are vastly different (maybe because both of yall have played 2-7k more games than me). Personally I love prem ships, but I still acknowledge thats not the case for everybody. -

I very rarely skip ships, but getting rid of stock can often make or break a ship. Anyways you say you cant understand my point because you keep all the ships, but that means I can say that I dont get your point because I always sell my ships and havent had silver problems for over a year. I dont do that because its a terrible argument. I meant to write XP problem. Basically what I mean is that you may get rid of your silver problem, but you will lack Free XP while you save up for it. But anyway saying that sailing prem ships is the best money making method is untrue. It is the best if you take your time to play them at least 50+ games. Those that dont take their time to play prems really save money by converting instead. -
I guess N13 also followed this design philosophy. Also speaking of N13, I noticed that its main guns are 457mm instead of 460mm. Meaning that it will not lolpen like yammyboy and may fit as a tier 9 ship. Obviously WG doesnt want more cruisers, so it needs to be a BB for sure... Oh I know, a cruiser killer is what this game needs. With that said B65\Super A is a perfect fit for the BB meta WG is trying to push.
