Survivability Expert cmd skill and Repair Party consumable
Affeks replied to Affeks's topic in General Discussion
I know the game very well, but I had to do actual ingame tests to find this to be wrong. Anyways tanking 80k damage in DM is possible even without SE. Well This is with my Commander equipped And without Commander Yet the effect the heal has in battle is no different. The tool tip also shows 1123 HP per second in battle as well. Noted. Should I give them a PM or is that tag enough? Thanks for more examples. Yes the tool tip shows increase in healing, but do a test in a training room and youll see it doesnt actually heal the specified amount. ikr This is not a discussion thread about the viability of the skill. See this thread if youre into discussing it: -
Survivability Expert cmd skill and Repair Party consumable

Well no tooltip says that about SE and the tooltip for Repair party (both in battle and in port) shows an increase in healing per second after getting SE. For example before picking SE my Repair Party II consumable tool tip says "heals 1039 HP per second" after getting SE it clearly says "heals 1123 HP per second". So while yes what you say about how it adds HP after battle starts may be true, it still doesnt explain why the tooltip changes to something it does not do. The HP from SE is added and shown in port... So idk if it really is added at the start of the game, tbh it shouldnt matter anyway since SE is supposed to increase max HP, not give you a little extra "buffer HP" or whatever. If so then SE tool tip should explain it. Repair party is supposed to heal and amount based on max HP so even if HP is added after battle starts it should still heal based on "current max hp". Regardless there is a bug in the Repair party tool tip that needs to be fixed -

It makes me shudder to think that WG still treats Fuso's TDS as the main belt AND citadel.... -
Survivability Expert cmd skill and Repair Party consumable

To actually discover this makes me really mad, as back during the CW season I did a ton of theory crafting on SE on the tier 10 Cruisers to find if it was worth on any of them. Not untill now do i find out Heals and SE doesnt work together despite that part being one of the important factors whether SE was worth on any of them or not. Thank you @tmGrunty for mentioning this simple and minor yet quite important issue to us min-maxers -

Actually, I decided to get Minotaur its own captain so I could experiment more with SE. And I must say doing even more theory crafting on it as well as testing it in practice I found it to be very much worth it on Minotaur (I still havent changed my mind about using it on other cruisers). A straight up 8.1% increase in health pool as well as an additional 84 HP per sec on the heal makes the ship much more effective in non-smoke/non-static engagements. Mino is also a really good ship to bait with, and it is just furthered by the increase in Heal effectiveness and the 3500 hp makes it just that little bit safer. Mino is a ship that "if survives it will be able to bounce back and have a big impact if played right". Thats because the great Concealment, good torps, agility, smoke, ability to shoot over terrains and zombie Heal makes for a ship that can really pull its weight 10 fold as long as it survives. Thats why I think that just having a small chance at surviving or even just a few seconds longer to live will improve your average stats by a fair amount for a 3 point commander skill. (ofc not saying Mino is the only cruiser like this, but at tier 10 I think Mino is by far the one cruiser where this statement is the most relevant). Minotaur is not a ship that has a lot of "must have skills" other than AR, SI and CE. Therefore this is how my cpt looks after 15 points: I must say I value SE over JoAT on Minotaur as well (mostly cause I dont have Jack Dunkirk on Minotaur tho). I usually list captain skills like this 1. Must have (Without these the ship becomes different to play or just fundamentally crippled, either the whole game or over the length of the game) 2. Nice to have (has a direct impact on every game played. Either in the form of direct damage output, staying power and minor strategic/tactical decisions) 3. Optional (Either super situational, very small direct impact or just something that can be played around with decent-good skill) For Minotaur I would categorize the skills like this. 1: CE, AR, SI 2: PM, PT, JoAT, SE, AFT (if you dont have AA guns mod 2) 3. Vigilance, TAE, MFCAAA, AFT (if you have AA guns mod 2) The whole AFT thing is because in Mino you are crippled if you dont have smoke and a plane is spotting you, therefore having the 152mm AA shoot to 7.2 km is a must since thats the range of your aerial spotting. For that you only need either AFT or AA mod 2. I still put AFT at 2 since it will only be a minor inconvenience in some games and only really put you in danger in a very few games or if you just didnt pay attention to the skies. Vigilance is on 3 because its really very situational for a ton of reasons. The torpedo threat can be mitigated by good hydro management, positioning, map awareness and just preemptive turning. Still even with Vigilance where all the other counterplay measures are exhausted there is no guarantee it will make a difference. Torpedo Armament Expertise is self explanatory. While Mino has good torps its still not something you rely on too much, and even if you use torps to great effect one game there is a very small chance a 10 sec shorter reload would have made a difference. MFCAAA helps your 152mm AA only, but that in itself is 118 dps afaik. You will mostly use this to shoot down catapult planes that stray within 7.2 km of your aerial detection range. OFC only take MFCAAA AFTER AFT OR AA guns mod 2. Ofc if you div with a CV all the time then both AFT and MFCAAA would be tier 1 or 2 skills haha. So take what I write with a grain of salt as its only applicable to the current meta AND when playing randoms outside of CV div. A lot of off topic theory crafting on Minotaur, but I just wanna give an example of how sure I am SE has a bigger impact that one would initially believe. I also tested this and youre right. This actually makes me kinda mad. You know if this is intentional or not? Has any WG employee made a statement about it? I wanna make an own thread just for this issue right here. -
Also, from direct HE hits you can only heal a portion of it, while you can heal 100% of damage from fires. Not to mention that HE is instant damage while Fires takes time before it adds up and has an impact. For example if youre facing off 1 on 1 with a BB then the BB will have have many extra chances to shoot if you rely on fire damage, while with direct damage you might be able to kill him before he gets to shoot a few extra times. IFHE just makes you much more reliable at dealing with BBs, but also 25-30mm plated cruisers which you can find all over the place at tier 8+
-
Well that only makes it better tbh. We dont want AI bombers do really deal significant dmg, just enough to force people to play like a team
-
IFHE is a must on Emile, Legali and Degrasse. Optional on Henri (I use it) and useless on Algerie, Charles and Saint Louis. BUT, On all of these ships CE is a must. Get CE first!

Just got rank 1 by playing mostly Kii (only played Kii from rank 5-1). I didnt play it because it was competitive, but setting myself the challange to get Rank 1 by almost exclusively playing Kii was fun and challanging. I both learned a lot about Kii AND the game itself. So I guess you can say another reason to play at a disadvantage on purpose is a way to learn a thing or two.

I think the commander is much stronger on a cruiser than a BB for sure -
New unique (French) commander on the way

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion

Kiis Kobayashi bundle cost about 2 premium tier 8 BBs, but for that I got Kii, enough doubloons for Tipritz, the Kobayashi camo, tons of signals, free upgrades and 30x victory missions. Idk id say that was about 3 premium tier 8 BBs worth of stuff for the price of 2... would buy again -

Played around with it on some of my t9-10 cruisers and I must say... in a few situational games itll save your life.. but in most games itll just be extra HP that does nothing or doesnt matter as youd be dead anyways. Did the numbers and SI gives you more HP plus extra charges on other consumables as well. Skills like DE gives a DPM percentage better than the HP percentage from SE. AFT and Manual AA gives you a more foolproof lifeline against CV threats. Fire damage is still a significant factor ergo BoS and even FP has arguably higher value than SE. Most importantly Cruisers benefit a lot from auxiliary perks like Double fighters/spotter, Jack of all trades, Expert loader etc etc along with the usual suspects like PM, AR and CE. There are just too many other important skills to choose from. The only ship Id take it on is Minotaur as it has a rather low health pool but at the same time doesnt care at all about fire/flooding dmg as it just zombie heals it. Trust me I did numbers on this over and over during CW. You know everything to just get an edge. Truth is fire damage was too big part of CW so turned out the be worthless in most games -

Hmm I'm having second thoughts about that Kobayashi camo. I think I'll get me one lmao -
I love playing battleships! Mostly because I can have one hand down my pants and have the other hand alt-tab every 30 sec. If BBs were ever nerfed to the point where I need to use both my hands when I play AND stay tabbed in the game at all times like the other 3 ship types then I would be sad

Any news about upcomming french battleships?
Affeks replied to Murro_the_One's topic in General Discussion
Met a Richelieu in battle, other than being relatively hard to hit he didnt really pose any sort of threat or pressure on the map. Not like it could use its great speed to reposition since he was constantly detected from the moon. -

Roma seems to be a strong ship... In all the wrong ways for me personally. Might skip for once. Not because I think it looks weak, but because it seems a "easy to do well in, but difficult to do amazing in" kinda ship. The kind of ship I dislike the most -
Well. I played around with both for a while now and I must say.... 419s are better for AP as well. There is just no arguing that the 419s are better in every single way. With that said tho I think WG has stealth nerfed the autobounce angles for 457s. I played around alot with them but they bounce against targets that would be penned by US CAs or RN CLs. Such a shame. I want to like the 457s so much, even the turret looks much much cooler as.
-
1. Because its fun 2. Because you can still hard carry in it (all ranked games)
-
Okay I finally took the time to grind to CQ and another perk the 457s has is much better turret armor which is very much needed since RN BB turrets arent angled at all and tend to get knocked out a lot. 419mm Gun Turret Face: 381mm Roof: 152mm Side: 178-254mm Back: 178mm 457mm Gun Turret Face: 456mm (+75mm) Roof: 229-254 mm (+77-102mm) Side: 229-305mm (+51mm) Back: 305mm (+127mm) So as you can see the armor gain on the turret is quite significant. The turret is angled more or less the same (except for the 457mms roof being two parts). So if you use 457mm you can take the Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1 with more confidence as your turrets are less likely to get penned and knocked out.

I only play for fun, but winning is fun so I still try to win despite running unconventional builds... that only really makes me someone that challenges myself. I think thats a good way to become better at something. Seems many in this thread needs to realize that instead of blaming "trolls" or people who dont take ranked "seriously" enough...

Big Gunned Heavy Cruisers Discussion Thread.
Affeks replied to Major_Damage225's topic in General Discussion
I agree on what you say except Alaska has to be tier 9 Stalingrad is coming as a tier 10 and in no way can Alaska or B65 compare with Stalingrad. As a cruiser Alaska has a good 15k less HP than Stalingrad, worse AA, top speed and arguably main guns. Same goes for B65, just a worse Stalingrad in most areas -
Nice joke I have listed tons or reasons to play ranked for fun. Other than the incompatibility with divisions I like Ranked much more than Randoms. Ranked provides less chaotic matches with teammates that actually play at least a little bit more consistently. More predictable and streamlined pushes and defensive positions. A perfect playground to experiment with ships in an environment different from the random battles. I thought this was too obvious, but it seems it has to be spelled out.
-
Coop? Maybe you havent noticed but you play vs bots.... Not nearly the same Nope just stating the facts. Ive never trolled in ranked before and never will. Despite picking Kii into ranked I actually want to win.. wow shocking right ofc if you want to lose then kill me sure

only 7v7 MM Tons of rewards Only tier 8 so no risk of being uptiered oh and best of all there are tons of tilted people all over the place that gets triggered by the smallest of things
