You know you can see the DPM values in game? AA guns arent effected by firing angles unlike main and secondary guns, so no use in thinking about where the guns are shooting from (even though the guns turn). Anyways most of Richelieus AA lies in the 40mm bofors (3.5km range) and 20mm oerlikons (2km range) and those gets knocked out by HE easily so get aux armaments mod 1 and youll see more planes shot down.

Cant wait if its anything like a love child between USN CAs and RN CLs then Imma be all over them

I actually dont like France's 2x4 1A1 design tho. It think it would be much cooler if they went with 3x4 16" and/or 3x3 17" in 2A1. I think its the much more reasonable and realistic outcome for a BB finished post war. Also that would mean we didnt have to deal with this utterly ridiculus and unrealistic 24 second reload. Its like they didnt think about game balance at all when designing the ship so now they have to deal with their terrible planning by giving it an otherworldy reload. Having quad 17" turrets is very unrealistic because it would mean they would need a gigantic barbette that would result in a terrible length to width ratio. Ofc WG doesnt consider these things at all. Still not as realistically terrible as Lyon or Normandie tho, but still just shows WGs inability to have an expert look at their ideas for even 2 seconds.

One out of 10 unicorns on EU that dont exploit CVs maybe Still low quality bait

Belfast or fiji no question. On both you can go PM, AR, EM, SI, CE, but if you want better damage on Belfast switch out CE for IFHE.
-
This is wrong, France/Republique has better sectors of fire than ships like Bismarck has. While yes bigger turrets do logically seem like they would have less room to traverse, but in truth having 1 turret aft or fore takes much less space meaning one can move the turrets further from the superstructure resulting in much less cramped decks and much better sectors of fire.

If a commander is running MFCAAA it should be represented in loading screen stats. I still hate when i have no idea whether a Gneisenau is running it or not, and the difference in how or when I can attack him depends on whether or not he has it. So I know where you guys are coming from, but I hate CV matches now more than ever when I recently grinded US cruisers only to find out CVs ability to spot the fukc out of me gets me killed or forces me to hold my fire to avoid getting detected all together. Even in a DM. So while I played one of CVs biggest hard counters, I felt hardcountered myself. At the same time though I know that the CV probably doesnt get rewarded at all by threatening to spot me saving people for lots of damage or preassure if I had the freedom to push with radar. I just think the spotting pressure is more than enough to balance CVs, but the fact that they threaten to delete so many ships on top feels like too much for me. Gets me fired up in all the wrong ways. Then going back to play CV with minimal skill but with insane results just fuel that fire.

And there you have it... They dont want to have game impact taken out of their hands... This is exactly what Ive been saying all along. Its like a repeat of the whole "counter widowmaker by playing widowmaker" argument. This is my biggest issue with top tier CVs in random matches. It literally makes the match automatically less enjoyable when you have to pray that your team has the competent CV player.

So youre telling me planes cant pop up on 8 km almost anywhere on the map while CV itself hasnt been spotted yet? Okay okay while my comparison of CV-awp is simplified, yours werent much better and you know it. I never said CVs dont have drawbacks, is if it didnt then I would have brought up how AWP has worse movespeed and unfavorable close range matchups. But hey it seems yall CV players got overly defensive and completely misunderstood again. I never said CV is super OP or without drawbacks. In fact CV might be one of the most frustrating ship type Ive played. Pretty RNG dependent, MM can decide to [edited]you over, UI is one of your biggest enemies etc etc. But overarching issue is that the balance is completely messed up, such a big counter to too many plays and ship types while at the same time CVs are super unrewarding to play. So I know yall dont want CVs to suffer more nerfs, but defending the balance to this degree isnt helping anyone.

Def AA isnt a hard counter unless youre in a DM or sometimes an Hburg. In a Moskva or Zao or Henri... Hahaha wont do much in the case of a dedicated strike. Well doest change the fact that you have CV insignia AND that for all I know you play with a CV in div close to every game. I know Im wearing a tinfoil hat for this one, but the short time I dived with ppl from competitive clans they asked every game who were gonna bring the CV, as if they didnt want to play without one. As it turned out I dont think I played a single match without CV in a div. So youre really gonna keep up comparing awp to CV? Youre more or less digging your own grave with that. You know awp takes a considerable amount of money to buy? You have to put a lot of resources into getting one right? Difference is that CV is deployed into a match in the same way as a DD or CA. Cant say the same for eco weapons in CS... I mean there are a lot of other points to this like the fact that AWP is still only on one place of the map at a time, while a CV can be anywhere makingit an unintuitive element to "scout and identify". Im not gonna keep arguing with you though, I know a regular of "CV captains circlejerk thread" when I see one.

Lovely seeing everyone with CV insignias defend CV balance... Really makes you think...

A lone ship is a dead ship only when its a CV match. If you know how to play your flanks and kites then a lone ship can either single handedly create a cross fire and break a stalemate or kite a big chunk of the enemy team away from objectives or the rest of your team. ofc the lone ship can also die spectacularly even without a CV in the match, but the second there is a CV playing that way is completely worthless unless youre in a Hburg.
-
nice joke, I wonder how much Henri gets out of those skills of yours... oh wait not nearly enough to stop any tier 9-10 planes.... Especially after HE spam or dive bombers dismantle thsoe 57mms of yours.
-
... The point is that to "counter" CVs you have to stack AA auras, basically restricting movement a lot.... thats not a counter and reduces impact on game, this isnt rocket science.

Giving up your overall impact on the game is not countering something. Its just a measure of survival.

Suggestion Swedish ships - example minor nation
Affeks replied to Johan_Jung's topic in General Discussion
I love the looks of these. They seem like gunboats, but the polar opposite of what makes the soviet destroyers good gunboats. Instead of fast, large and good ballistics it seems these Swedish vessels are small, agile and with high RoF. Just like USN Destroyers, but with even more focus on guns and less focus on torps.- 168 replies

Flamu isnt telling the whole story here and hes speaking from his own perspective. In truth Alabama has far better turning circle, much better rudder shift, much better turret traverse, smaller citadel, better armor, smaller target (for both torpedoes and shells). So for a competitive player in a competitive envirnoment then NC is better, but for randoms and for the average player Alabama is MUCH better. About the armor, I dont know if Flamu actually said that the armor was worse on Alabama, but its completely false. Alabama has slightly thicker deck armor, but much more importantly the citadel is further down by the waterline and the citadel plating is inclined inwards making it difficult to citadel at range. On the other hand NC has a taller and less inclined citadel resulting in a lot more damage when showing broadside. Even in terms of concealment it isnt that impactfull, Alabama has actually better air detection, but ofc worse surface detection. In the bow in meta torpedo belts are more important than you think, DDs will love to torpedo static targets over a moving roaming battleship. So in my conclusion Alabama is better for randoms, but slightly worse in any competitive environment.

When i played Shokaku in constant tier 10 MM it wasnt as bad as youre making it. And when I play tier 10 CAs with "devestating AA" its not that devestating at all unless ofc running a full build and giving up lots of other advantages. But hey I guess you want to keep CVs that strong so that its just that much easier to stat pad WR by either playing it yourself or running 1 in your cute div. I dont blame you, just wanted to look good in front of the other kids right?
-
Looking at my stats with CV (and Im far from a CV main) I think CV is BY FAR THE EASIEST SHIP TYPE TO CARRY WITH. Ive played over a 100 battles in them so I never would have complained about how big of an issue CV balance is if it werent for me HAVING ACTUALLY PLAYED THEM. You played yourself so maybe next time use some actual arguments instead of indirect insults man. It doesnt help anyone
-
I hear so many CV players say "Just stack your AA or use an AA build" as an argument that carriers have counterplay, but that itself makes the non-CV players either give up tons of useful commander skills giving them a clear disadvantage against everything else or forces players to play defensively and have less impact in a way that DDs, BBs and Cruisers cant freely move around the map or flank. If anything close to CV would exist in any real competitive e-sport ready game it would have been an uproar of the likes we havent ever seen.

Very helpful, wasd only really helps when CV is absolute garbage or only puts enemy planes in your aura for a little longer. That is usually not close to enough to stop certain demise. I dont know if youre aware that hydro works on BBs and cruisers as well? Youre not even trying here you literally mention Minotaur as well cmon. I mean even ignoring that, you meet DDs every game. And were not talking a single DD, usually 2-5 right? CV on the other hand? Well you meet ONE every 2-3 matches, but THATS ENOUGH TO WARRANT GIVING UP HYDRO. Give up something that works on 2-5 enemies every game? or give up something that works on 1 enemy every 2-3 games? Seems like its obvious to pick Hydro then? No wrong because unlike CVs, DDs have counterplay and is actually not completely garbage unbalanced. Try harder please

Play tier 10 Cruiser, use def AA, still get one shot by tier 9-10 CVs. Whoever said this was a rock paper scissors game lmao Im a cruiser main, and if I could play randoms without CVs in the matchmaking Id play that any day of the week. Sure whenever what happened to OP happens it sucks, but whats even worse is the fact that if its a CV matchup, literally every BB, CA and DD has automatically less impact on the game and instead that impact is all put in the hands of the CV players. Not only that but the fact alone that CVs force CA players to give up Hydro is super unbalanced in itself. Ive never played as much cruiser as Ive done lately, but damn Ive never hated high tier CVs more than I do now.

Just wait till you get to Neptune, you either learn to love it since it dishes out insane damage, or you hate it because you explode anytime you make a small mistake. Its like Edinbrugh on steroids in both the good and bad ways.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Affeks replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Iowa - 33 knots (without speed boost) Baltimore - 32.5 knots Roon - 32.5 knots Not to mention all the other cruisers with top speed almost identical or the cruisers lower or higher tiers that are slower (NO, Hburg). I think you overestimate normal top speed. Remember Iowa has okay armor and guns for its tier, only backed up by AA and concealment. Dunkerque has none of these while even if it had speed boost would only temporarily reach 31.86 knots which isnt even faster than Nberg, only faster than Le Gali which has a 15% speed boost that has increased duration if I remember correctly.
