Anyone else think the DDs have gotten ridiculous?

Is WG forced player to pay to have correct treat ?
Johnny_Moneto replied to Dragontrn's topic in General Discussion
I will let you know the "secret" now: To make such a game and to keep it running costs money. When it is given away for free the maker will implement a strategy to have the players pay for additional stuff in the game. One example: they let you rush to tier 10 fast, then they set the economy there in such way that you will lose credits and will have to purchase something from them with real money in order to keep enjoying the game at that level. The thing is: it happens only in your mind. WG makes you an offer. You have proven to be intelligent enough to see right through their strategy. Now you can make a free choice: will you take their offer and give them money in return or will you decline their offer (by playing mid tier for example)? This happens all the time in this game (and not only in this game). However, so far WG's offers have always beeen fair. You can play any part of the game without paying a cent. It is just a matter of how fast you unlock all the content or how often you want to play tier 10. It is up to you as a grown-up human being with a working brain to make a choice. Please do not complain about the decisions you took. If you hate being indirectly controlled what to do then shopping groceries must be a nightmare for you. The whole layout of the supermarket, the arrangement of the goods, even the direction you move (clockwise or counter-clockwise) are there to indirectly control you. Advice: just because you are made an offer doesn't mean you must take it. -
"Shall we go AB or BC?" ==========> You're out, next please.

Horn sound of team mates, who are 5km away sound like they are right next to me. (Volume of horn does not decrease with distance.)

Does one really need to put the smiley behind every non-serious sentence in the internet?
-
And they succeed - those torps really stand out from the rest. Obviously on the other end from what some players hoped for... Maybe give them 10km range, so that in German CVs you do tactical long range torping. We have left the realms of the real long time ago, haven't we?

[TOOL] A program to collect and analyze personal farm of exp and credits

Maxim, version 0.9.136.20200411 cannot be installed on my Win10 PC. Windows Defender alerts to have found malware Wacatac.C!ml in the mxstat.exe -
Strange enough, I have 5 minute games also in all other battle modes.

You are correct in every way.

There is a bug in the game, which will not delete shells that fly into an island. Instead those "ghost shells" continue to fly but will do no damage on any target as they are not there anymore. It usually happens when you try to shoot from just behind an island trying to lob shells over it. For me this is a major bug which has been in the game for a long time now. But it seems that nobody else finds it disturbing. If I were responsible for this product I would not release such a version. But hey, that is just me and my few years of experience in the software industry, project management, QA and such non-sense.

Ok, I know we all have the same question but nobody dares to ask it. So I spit it out for you: What the hell is this supposed to do? My best guess would be that it is a system for measuring the depth.

I have 2 computers with WoWs 0.9.2 installed. Computer A: uses Game Center , sound settings are "ultra", option "advanced update download" enabled. Computer B: uses old Launcher, sound settings are "high", no such thing as adavanced download. Today I start both computers but I start with computer A. Computer A already downloaded an update some days ago and starts with "Installation" upon starting the Game Center. Computer B starts to download the update. Guess on which computer I was able to start the 0.9.3 client some 3 minutes earlier? (answer is: Computer B) WG, except for the different soundbanks the settings are the same. What could possibly lead to the fact that the old Launcher is faster by a wide margin even though the Game Center has a head start, having downloaded the update already? (And I looked at my network, Computer A did not download any further parts from WG). @Crysantos

Thanks for the tipps. I assume, however, it is not a PC related issue. If you have access to different PCs maybe you can try to verify my findings with the next update? That would be even more helpful. I will most defintely not defrag my SSD. Any other program, which is installed on both PCs works basically at the same speed, including performing updates. You consider it is a problem related to my personal setup. I would like to hear from others if they have maybe encountered the same issue.
-
Sure, the slower installation happened on the more modern computer (age 1 year compared to age 5 years of the other computer), which has Windows 10 compared to Windows 8.1 on the older computer. The time difference was really weird. Installation only on one PC takes as long as download + install + 3 minutes on the other. Download took also some 3-5 minutes, so overall Game Center took 6 to 8 minutes longer to install.

Where is your point?

PLEASE HELP I have a problem installing client
Johnny_Moneto replied to Reza_Mashouf's topic in General Discussion
It is also patch day today. Maybe the problem will resolve itself later today. -
Well, don't make the criteria too tight. The idea would be not to have all players to have even skills. It rather would be to avoid good players constantly having to play with bad players and vice versa. Still, the long waiting time is also WG main argument against the introduction of such a system. While the player base itself might even be big enough, the players spread out to different game modes and tiers. In the end, some playerss could end up pretty lonely.

Average damage: If I inflict 25k damage on a DD, it is gone. Big impact on the game. If I do 25k damage on a Conqueror, it will heal it back up as if nothing happened. Low impact on game but same amount of damage. Average XP: I play the same battle on a F2P account and get 1000 base XP. That gives me 1000 XP avg XP. For the same battle having a WG premium account I get 1500 avg XP. For yet the same battle having a WoWs preium account I get 1650 avg XP. You have to put many stats together to get a picture of how the player performs.

While not agreeing or disagreeing with anything else posted here on this topic, I would like to respond to one point Colonel Pete makes: skill based MM means that for every good player there must be a bad player in the same team to compensate. While that might be an interpretation of skill based MM it is not the only one: Much more reasonable would be to assume skill based MM puts players of relatively even skill in the same battle. And while it has been pointed out that if WR would be used as the only criteria for skill the system cannot work, there is the system of giving each player a "skill value". Such might include many things like how does the player do versus other players with a certain skill value, how many "positive" actions does a player perform in a battle. Such a skill value would then have to replace WR completely, of course.

Will someone from WG address the insufferable High Tier state of the game?
Johnny_Moneto replied to matia251's topic in General Discussion
Skill based MM? There are 3 fractions: 1. Wants skill based MM 2. opposses skill based MM because it cannot be done 3. WG ("player base too small", "it is called random for a reason", blah blah blah, yaddah yaddah yaddah) -
Tier 9 is the new sweet spot.

Haven't we forgotten the most important value of German CV's? Sigma of Secondaries?

How It Works: Spotting and Detectability System 2.0
Johnny_Moneto replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
If you had a battle where this happens, after the battle is over please open your Windows Explorer, go to your World of Warships folder, subfolder "Replays". The latest created file there you can attach here in this thread to a new message (in this thread). The suffix of this file should be ".wowsreplay". If you can write the time when the problem occurred (upper right corner of the in-battle screen shows battle time remaining. If you do this we others can have a look at what happened and either confirm a bug or let you know why whatever happened happened. Hope this makes sense to you and looking forward to your replay file. -
At what tier do Russian BB become good?
Johnny_Moneto replied to Kasseopea's topic in Newcomers' Section
I try again, politely and with slightly different words: The ship is just fine. It is the player who needs to make it work. If she doesn't work for you, fine. That happens. I also have some ships whose potential I cannot truly unlock. But Izmail can deliver reliably, I know because I played her often. I would even consider her the strongest tier 6 battleship. You came here asking when Russian BBs start to be good and you got the reply that they are basically all good. Everything else is up to you.
