Actually, what would be nice is someway to just say sorry for a team kill, I accidentally hit a team-mate today (completely my fault, lost track of him approaching me on the side closest to the target), but whilst you can send a compliment to a team-mate (or report them) post battle, theres no option to say "My bad, didn't see you" or words to that effect
