[Suggestion] Torpedo acquisition based on class
Aerroon replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
Or they could, you know, predict where DDs are and move accordingly? You know, none of those kongo lines where ships all race to the A cap on fault line. Have a friendly DD go ahead to check if there are other DDs. Or even have just a plane scout it out. Oh yeah, this torpedo detection should also give exp so there would be a reason for cruisers to hang around with BBs. -
Yes, torpedoes very OverPower. They many kills me. Wargaming, nerf torpedoes please.

USN Battleships - First Impressions and Reviews
Aerroon replied to valkarianism's topic in General Discussion
If I am honest then I didn't dislike the Colorado as much as people say for the reasons stated. I disliked it for its speed - the same as all the other US BBs before it. I just couldn't bear it anymore so I used 30k free exp to jump over half of it.- 84 replies

Well, at least they nerfed Lexington's speed. It used to be that Fubuki was 35 kts and Lexington was 35 kts. Historically Lexington was 33 kts and Fubuki was 38 kts. PS what do you want to know about destroyers?

I just can't see a way to make the Kitakami work...
Aerroon replied to Remi_Drexel's topic in General Discussion
Considering the 40€ pricetag I doubt a lot of people tried it. Also, smoke gives some insane capabilities to the ship and I've yet to see a single person use that well. -
I find that killing destroyers is WAY harder than before patch. Before you would mostly kill them in one salvo, but now HE tends to not be enough and AP overpenetrates or bounces off. PS I imagine a tier 10 cruiser sinking tier 7 battleships is quite okay.
-
Fubuki is 35 kts top speed ingame for whatever reason, not 38 kts like she was historically.

Aerroon replied to Remi_Drexel's topic in General Discussion
Give me a Kitakami and I'll figure it out how to play her properly. But looking at the fact that it's so expensive (like 40€) then I just can't afford it. (I'm living purely off of savings and have no income so every euro spent is heavily weighed.) I would even pay like 50k-100k free exp for one. -
A hypothetical conversation with a new player who came for "World of Battleships"
Aerroon replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
+1 would read again. Spot on. -
Well it sure as hell isn't IJN cruiser citadels. I still hit them for all their life in one volley quite often.

Are you really going to be trolling like this forever?

How? Defense only matters as long as there is offense. If nobody is attacking you then defense has literally 0 impact on anything. Defense is only valuable if attacked. Defense's value correlates to the threat of the attacker - it can never exceed it. If your defense completely neutralizes the offense then your defense is at its highest, but it can never go beyond the impact of offense, as with lack of that offense defense's value is none. If you still didn't understand then here is the clearest I can put it: with fighters you can, at the very best, do as much as the enemy carrier to win the game. Often you will do less. You are very often just dead weight or subpar and would be better off in another ship. This is a give and take relationship - you take the spot on the team and give them air defense. Enemy team can have a Montana for your spot. Will you be on par with the Montana? Enemy team could also have an Essex who just deletes one of your battleships from the game right at the start before you react. Is there any way you can influence it as much as a battleship? No, not really. There are only very rare exceptions where it's possible (mainly organized play OR when you're 1vs2 and both are bombers, but the latter is questionable). The issue is the idea of fighters themselves - they are an aircraft that only kills aircraft in a ship to ship game. It is exactly like having a ship with ONLY anti air and no way to hurt ships. This is why fighter focused loadouts are bad without organized play.
-
If you go fighters you deserve to be punished for it, so you not getting any CV opponents is exactly what you deserve. Picking fighters is a poor choice because at best you can equalize your usefulness to your team the enemy carrier's usefulness to theirs. Your influence can't become significantly larger than the enemy carrier's. Your only purpose is to fight him with fighters. It's a poor choice all around unless you're in a division and know your team can win against theirs.

What? The trouble with aiming against targets on the map edge is that they can move away and towards you and that is difficult to adjust your aim for since you traditionally don't encounter it. Also, it used to break the aim mod as well. I can't recall ever having trouble hitting people on the map edge other than with torpedo bombers. But I know how to fix that now so even that is just a minor nuisance.

Winning needs to give some reward itself, especially a fast win. Too many times have I seen the enemy team just go "just cap it, no repair cost anyway" with like 3 ships sunk and 5 minutes into the game. And then we cap it and nobody gets anything out of it really.

Today I saw a Myoukou turn 90 degrees in the time it took torpedoes to go out of my Mogami and travel 4km. Dodged all 8 out of 8.

Shokaku tier 8 IJN Carrier OP in current MM
Aerroon replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
One thing you have to realize with damage done is that carrier's damage is going to depend on game length the most. For most other ships (especially destroyers and cruisers) it depends on how long they survive. You tend to not die as a carrier so you have the whole game to deal damage which means your average damage is high. You just tend to not have that high damage spikes where you have a crazy game and end up wrecking everything, unlike in a DD or a battleship. -

Isn\t that exactly what Smi's winrate is like with carriers. Sure looks like that to me. -

Aerroon replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but those players are a PLAYSTYLE issue. They can play better and change it - they won't be limited to doing that. A fighter player IS limited to that. It doesn't matter what they do and their impact on winning will essentially never be higher than the enemy bomber CV. Actually you'd probably win less because the enemy carrier could just outplay you a few times. -

Aerroon replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
Okay so let me explain to you: if you go for a fighter based setup then at best you equalize the scales. You take one spot on your team and the enemy takes one spot on the enemy team. If you go a fighter loadout then AT BEST your influence on the game is keeping the other CV down. You can never exceed his performance significantly because you can't actually hurt ships. Your influence on the battle is as great as his: almost none. It would be like having a ship with no guns and only AA. You can talk about it being a support role but it only matters if you're with people who you know will kick the enemy's [edited]if given space. At worst you're in a game as the lone CV and have 0 influence while still taking up a spot. Fighters just don't make sense from a gameplay perspective outside of organized play. -

Except they can actually DODGE the shots. I saw a New Mexico today that knew what he was doing. He dodged over 90% of my torpedoes. And I do pretty much the same to enemy CVs when I'm in a battleship. A CV only hardcounters moronic BBs, even though it should be the antiBB, it only works if the BB is AFK or doesn't know how to play. You have no idea how the game works, do you? -
1 CV, 1 DD, 2 CA, 20 BB. Historically accurate number of ships. If anybody wants to see a replay of how to deal 400k dmg in an Essex in a game where you should hard counter almost every single enemy ship then here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/89115692/wows/cvs/Essex400kdmgDraw.wowsreplay Result: DRAW. Reason? My battleships sucked. My performance: Remember, this is against ships that are multiple tiers lower and I should hard counter. You really can't get a better situation like this. This would be like taking an Amagi into a game where enemies are all Omahas, Pensacolas and New Orleans. EDIT: It happened again. Details are on the second page but here's the image (1 CV, 1 DD, 3 CA, 19 BB):

Shokaku tier 8 IJN Carrier OP in current MM
Aerroon replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
If all of that is so "easy" then why don't your stats reflect that? Yes, they are good, but they aren't THAT good. You make it sound like you have not a care in the world and just kill everything, but you don't. Your average damage output is lower than what my Essex had prepatch and not that far off from my Lexington's stats. Also, you don't kill an Iowa "easy" considering the AA. There is no way a Shoukaku's planes can withstand that if the Iowa does almost any kind of evasive action. -
This. I've been saying this for a while. Most CVs don't seem to understand it though for some reason.

Aerroon replied to xBamBamx's topic in General Discussion
The guy who made the first post said so. Also, no kidding you'll have impressive stats when every game is filled completely with people you should hard counter. You have to have impressive stats in those games, because if the enemy team actually played as though CVs mattered is when the stats matter. I haven't seen anybody escorting BBs since patch even once. It used to be common that a cruiser would stick around a group of BBs, yet now it never happens. I don't see BBs starting to do evasive action when planes are spotted at 7-8km anymore either, they wait until the planes are within drop distance and then start maneuvering. I just played a match in my Yamato and just paired up with an Iowa the enemy team could get 1-2 torpedos into the water maximum at a time. Their planes just couldn't touch us at all and it was a Lexington + Shoukaku.
