Well, even in CBT having all tier 10 ships was incredibly rare. I only know of a few people who played enough to unlock all of them. Going closer is okay, but the thing is that you have no way to disengage so you have to be incredibly careful. It's a bit better at lower tiers because the concealment range is much lower on lower tier carriers so you're in less danger, but at higher tiers it's not that good anymore. On top of that at higher tiers enemy ships tend to have a ton of range too, so if you're spotted at 18km they will fire at you.

I disagree. I think what you guys are referring to has to do with the fact that you were playing higher tier BBs at the end of CBT and now jumped back into low tier BBs. It looks fine to me:

I went through the middle gap in my New Mexico. I started sailing towards it at full speed. I emerged on the other side when the game had 14 minutes left. Up until that point I had absolutely 0 possibility of shooting at the enemy.

Hey guys, let's compromise. Let's call her a "Fast Battleship", okay? And if you aren't willing to compromise then we shall call her a BattleBoat

I'm playing less, because when I read the forums and reddit I see many ignorant opinions that seem to completely miss the most crucial balance issues in the game. On top of that most of the games are super boring since I'm playing a slow battleship usually and if I'm playing in my carrier the whining that happens in some of those games is just disheartening. On top of that I've played this game for thousands of matches already, and other stuff is taking my interest much more. The youtube stuff is probably the only thing that still keeps me to this game. If I didn't make youtube videos about it I probably would be playing PoE in full force right now.

i've always wanted 1on1 in this game. thank you, WG

If you rush into the middle river on that map he can't torpedo bomb you really. Then it depends on where he takes his carrier and whether you want to take the chance of killing him. -
Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon posted a topic in General Discussion
Hey, some of you might know that I recently got a game in my Taihou where I got 10 kills. If you don't then it's this match: Now if you look at the fleet compositions: You'll notice that tier by tier this game seems like a joke - we have a tier 9 carrier and a tier 8 destroyer. Their highest is a tier 7. Seems like matchmaking is playing a cruel joke to the enemy team, especially with the common notion of "carriers are OP". But if you look at the video and how the match played out: is this really a failure of matchmaking? The game lasted for almost the entire 20 minute duration! This game was INCREDIBLY close. Shouldn't matchmaking be trying to set up matches exactly like this regardless of what the ship and fleet compositions look like? You can't have a game where you get 10 kills without your team being A LOT weaker than the enemy team, so it seems to me that in a match like this matchmaking balanced out my team's weakness with my strength. If you take me out of this match then this game would've most likely ended at something like 13-14 minutes with the enemy team winning and only losing like 2-3 ships. It would've been a complete steamroll. So what do you guys think, the team compositions here look funky, yet it gave a game that was super close - a few dozen seconds here and there and it could've easily been a draw or perhaps even a victory for the enemy team (they were pretty close to capping it out a few times). Should MM prioritize making matches that don't look funky? tl;dr: team compositions look imbalanced, yet the game was super close. Aren't close games that can tip either way what we should want from matchmaking?- 170 replies

That's way too hard though. They just need to nerf HE so I can keep playing battleships. Also nerf torpedo bombers because they kill me in 1 hit instantly. -

But that means I'd have to learn how to play the game. That's unreasonable, OP. The devs should instead change the game in a way where I don't have to learn to play it. -
You can't control the torpedo spread on torpedo bombers. The only things which affect it is the nation of your ship (US or IJN carrier) and whether the torpedo bomber group is being panicked or not (attacked by a fighter or cruiser using their ability). Manually dropping torpedoes is done by using the ALT key and clicking somewhere. This carrier guide might be useful to you (it covers manually dropping torpedoes and many other basic carrier things):

It's impossible to dodge torpedoes. Don't even bother trying, there's no point. Source: forums and reddit. -
Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
Really? You clump me in with them and for what? I don't do tier 10 divisions, I barely even division with one guy that plays his Izumo. I don't even have a tier 10 ship. Or do you mean that anybody playing at tier 8+ now "abuses the MM and ruins the fun for others"? What do you propose we do then? Sell our tier 8+ ships and go play KanColle for the next 6 months until some tomatoes finally manage to finish grinding the Nagato? Pape's win rate does not come from having matches that are imbalanced or having that T10 division. He had an overwhelming winrate even in CBT. He averaged >70% win rate over thousands of games in CVs. Do you really think that his win rate stays high because of the divisions? That guy is a monster with CVs. What his division does is make people like me, Sharana, Azell etc less likely to score a win against him, because even if we do trade carriers his team is likely to still end up winning. But those are rare cases where those games even happen. Most of the time he wipes the floor with his opposition even without his division mates.- 170 replies

Well, you can thank all the BB and CA whining that eventually got DDs nerfed. Enjoy. CVs are next so don't switch on to them.

Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
I like how you deleted the part where I said that quote was sarcasm in your quotation. Same to the other guy. But okay, I'll just join in to the choir then, just nerf CVs to the ground and buff BBs since that's all anybody ever wants to play in this game anyway. Just make it so I get more games like today's video where it was 11 BBs + 1 DD vs 11 BBs + 1 CA. Since, you know, something being able to kill BBs is just unfair and ruins the game. Wait, so you're arguing that they should **NOT** be playing together because it can ruin the fun of some other people? In a multiplayer game that's supposed to be about playing against other players? Are you seriously saying this? What's next? Will you tell people who play Minekaze to stop playing Minekaze because it's "ruining the fun for low tier players"? Same to Cleveland players? This is like the border humping discussion all over again. "Ohh, I don't like that you're using the mechanics of the game against me! Therefore I will now declare that using that mechanic is cheating! Here, this one dev once, many months ago, said that they're thinking of changing it, so it clearly is cheating!" You know where all of this leads to, right? Look at high tier destroyers. That's where this kind of whining leads to. How many Gearings, Fletchers, Shimakazes and Kagerous have you seen by now? It's been 3 weeks, I've seen high tiers of other classes, highest DD I've seen is one Fubuki. And to top it off nobody gives a damn - because there simply aren't enough players in that class. MM needs to provide games that are close. Sometimes some people get good games other times others do so. The point is to provide games which are not just complete stomps and in this case matchmaking provided exactly that. Even though the teams looked funky, it still provided a game that went to the 19th minute.- 170 replies

I just had a look through my keybindings and you're right. The only key bound to ALT for me is the "Alternative Battle Interface Mode" at the very bottom. I'm sorry, I really don't know. Let me know if you still haven't fixed it I'll ask around.- 21 replies

Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
Considering you still can't get my name right it's okay. Also, you missed the point of the thread. It's to bring up the fact that for a game like this to even happen MM already failed to offer a close match if I were taken out of it, yet I was taken into it which made it last almost the entire duration. Such matches can't jump out from completely imbalanced MM.- 170 replies

Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
Actually, it's more than 3 minutes into the game and I went straight for the DD drop. I had to do absolutely no positioning or similar for it. The video doesn't start at the 0:00 mark. I can't believe my hitrate is so bad with them. And I really like the 3 minute cycle. Yeah, it usually is much higher because I was in a pretty risky position for most of the game in my CV. On top of that the enemies held the middle of the map so they were also closer than normal. My South Carolina, Wyoming, New York and New Mexico all have a higher winrate than my Taihou. And to be honest, I think that a well played Yamato or Montana could've tipped this game with ease. It would've been citadel central if the enemies had kept pushing middle and the Montana/Yamato could've hung back and artilleryd the enemy team. Except low tier BBs are terrible and looking at BB stats based on them is completely wrong. Especially if he played BBs on the first days since there were a million Arkansases around which in BB vs BB simply outclass everything below tier 5. Also, I believe CVs will get nerfed like many others. WG will most likely go the same route with CVs as they've done before to make it a super RNG fest. On top of CV's currently being the least played class even though people call it super OP that will make the experienced players shy away from CVs as well and the class will become rarely played other than competitively where it's used as a scout. Here's to hoping WG doesn't make it an RNG fest.- 170 replies

Matchmaking balance, weird team compositions and a carrier with 10 kills
Aerroon replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
I don't know, I had quite a bit of fun in that match. Seems to be working as intended. Note: the above was sarcasm. That's an interesting point, but the thing is that the experience and credits you gain from a match depend on YOUR contribution. This means that they can't just drop their contribution to nothing, because they wouldn't get any experience from it and it would be like a wasted win for them. If it was decided before it even began how come if I had wasted a 20-30 seconds on something else, or for instance, didn't pull my dive bombers to the side and cycled them along with the torpedo bombers (landing and taking off) that it would've been a draw? Really, if I hadn't left my dive bombers standing around to get more torpedo bomber cycles we probably wouldn't have been able to finish this match. Hell, we might even have been capped out of the match because torpedo bomber hits are less likely to happen. So how exactly do you consider this "decided before it began"?- 170 replies
