  3. Captain retraining is way too hard at 18+ points. To get from 18 to 19 points you need 10 million captain XP. To retrain an 18 point captain from one ship to another you need to get 5 million retraining XP. 5 million! Even if you pay 200k then half of it is STILL 2.5 million. The only option seems to be to retrain using doubloons. Video as proof: What gives? Is it supposed to be like this?

Why was this moved? The section for "Ships / Aircraft Carriers" quite literally states "GUIDES" on it. This is clearly not a guide.
  6. I would just like to point out that playing a DD is more expensive than battleships. They have a lower survivability ratio, their ammunition is more expensive and they pretty much need to use premium smoke, DCP, camo and potentially speed boost as well. A battleship, on the other hand, only needs premium DCP and premium heal. Camouflage is useful, but not mandatory and fighter plane is up to you. According to warships.today ships have the following survivability ratios in the last 2 weeks. DDs: Gearing - 38%, Shimakaze - 39%, Khabarovsk - 48%. Their average survivability ratio is 40.17%. BBs: Yamato - 48%, Montana - 52%. Their average survivability ratio is 49.7% The cost to repair a DD fully is 220k, the cost to repair a battleship fully is 271k. But remember about the consumables and ammunition too - one Shimakaze torpedo is 1200 credits, she can fire 15 torpedoes in a launcher and that's 18,000 credits.

    Fail divisions

While generally I dislike fail divisions (when I'm doing them), I do have to make an exception for some ships like the Umikaze. They bring something to the table that other ships at the higher tiers do not have. An Umikaze in a tier 8 game isn't even that bad - she's down to like 5.4km concealment range, which means that she's going to outscout any other ship in the match and her torpedo reload rate is so low that she might just end up flooding you over and over. Even her HP isn't that bad - fully upgraded (without the tier 4 commander skill) the Umikaze has 10,300 HP. That's only a bit less than a stock Kiev and Hatsuharu. Her guns are weak though, but her size is small which makes her hard to hit. Why would you die in 4 seconds? Does a Hatsuharu die in 4 seconds to a Gearing? Also, the Umikaze will see the Gearing coming. She'd see literally any other ship before they can see her.

    Yamato guns

Yamato still averages 12.7% more damage than Montana per match in the last 2 weeks so that's quite a gap between the two still. The reason why looking at damage here is kinda okay is because they fill the same role and shoot the same targets. Also, lol @ thread about "pre-nerf Shimas" and "cancerous". Shimakazes still did poorly. Just look at all time results. Is this like a "cycle of nerfs" kind of whine where we whine about one ship, then once it gets nerfed we whine about the next ship and on and on and on until we come back full circle?
  11. Aerroon

    Things that should give experience

Tanking damage should give XP. That is - if somebody is shooting you (they have you locked and fire in your general direction) you should get XP for that. Probably not a lot, but something, because this should add up. This would incentivize people to push, it would give people who don't sit at the back a reason to do so, and it rewards people who can angle really well (in battleships) or dodge really well (destroyers). The part that would be difficult to decide on who to award XP to is when you're attacked by a carrier, because they don't lock a target while attacking, everyone else does. You might be wondering: "how would it incentivize pushing?" You just give XP for the shots fired at you - dodging them and deflecting them is even better than losing HP for them and you should be awarded for that. The idea is that you gain XP for keeping the enemies busy, because it is a *VERY* important aspect of the game. If battleships do not tank damage then your team often loses, so we need ways to incentivize battleship players to do just that. Same goes for destroyers, particularly soviet destroyers - if a Kiev sits at 12km from enemies and constantly shoots them he doesn't deal all that much damage, but often enemies try taking shots at the Kiev and hit nothing. This means that those same enemies weren't shooting at the friendly Atago that's next to the Kiev and is dealing massive damage.

Just remove them from the game. Look at how many matches there already are without CVs. At least I wouldn't be under the illusion anymore.
  13. Hello and welcome! IntroductionWeek 4 has come around and I'll just cut to the chase. I am running a "Battleship Duel" competition, a replay contest for the "Best Moment", and a "Ship Skin Modding Contest". "Best Moment" this time is for matches from the 4th week of the Grand Naval B Prizes 100 diamonds for the "Best Moment". 100 diamonds for the winner of the "BB Duel" 100 diamonds for the runner-up of the "BB Duel" 100 diamonds for a random participant of the "BB Duel" 400 diamonds reserved for the "Ship Skin Modding Contest" (so it might have 2 winners - 200 each, or 4 winners - 100 each or something like that, depends on submissions) 200 diamonds reserved in general (going to be used for any of the three contests) Explanation of Replay ContestBest Moment:I want to see a replay of what you consider to be the best moment you have had in a match. The match has to have been after the 24th of May (included). In terms of a best moment it could be a minute or two long even - some kind of a sequence of events that is just so amazing - like say you shoot three salvos in a battleship and every single one kills an enemy ship from full HP. Or maybe you do some amazing torpedo dodging. Crazy things like that. Along with the replay you have to add a description of what happened and a timestamp of it (match time). You have to explicitly state in your submission if your submission is for the best moment. YOU NEED TO DO BOTH. Time for the Replay ContestSubmission for the replay contests end 31st of May 2016 at 15:00 Germany's time (CEST). Replays must be from a match that happened after the 24th of May (included). Submitting to the Replay Contests:The submission must be a reply to this thread. No emails anymore, I'm sorry.A submission must include the replay file, an image of the personal score screen, an image of the team score screen and an image of the detailed score screen (the last one is less important). You have to include a timestamp AND a description of said "best moment" in the post. You can upload the images and replay file as attachments to the post (or elsewhere like imgur, dropbox etc), but I would prefer it if you used http://wowreplays.com/Upload/gnbaerroon4 So these are the steps how you would do a preferred submission.1. Just go to: http://wowreplays.com/Upload/gnbaerroon42. Include in the description of the replay the description of your "best moment" and the timestamp for it. ("THE WHOLE MATCH" IS NOT A TIMESTAMP.)3. Post the link to the replay on the wowreplays site into this forum thread. Include the timestamp and description of the best moment (you can just copy paste it). Explanation for the Battleship Duel I will hold a battleship duel of tier 5 or lower battleships on Saturday the 28th of May at 18:00 Germany's time (CEST). I would like it if you signed up for this in the thread by saying you'll be there, but this is not the limit to anybody taking part in the competition. It will be somewhat similar to what the destroyer duel was last weekend. Try to expect the thing to take a good 3 hours if not more. You NEED the training room mod to be installed. Use Aslain's mod pack to enable the training room. 0.5.6 should have it available in a few days. I will post a link here for it. Tournament page: http://challonge.com/BBDuel Sign up for the tournament at: http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/hUDcTUq6yn You need to sign up for this tournament on the Challonge page, this means you need a Challonge account. I would like it if you used the same username on Challonge as you do in World of Warships, if not then try to make it very similar. If you do sign up please report it here in this thread that you did with your Challonge username. You need to check in to the tournament - up to 30 minutes before the start so from 17:30 onward. Once 18:00 arrives I'm taking the checked in participants (unless there's some trouble that can be solved in just a few minutes) and we're starting the tournament. If you do not have the training room mod installed or other such things before the time then I'm sorry, but we can't wait for you. The match is a 1vs1 Battleship duel on Ocean with between tier 5 or lower battleships. Both duelists start out on the edge of a cap zone with one part of their ship being in the circle and other part being outside. When "GO!" is given you start the fight - you can use AP, HE, secondaries, flags etc. Whoever kills the other ship first wins the duel. You do not need to stay in the cap zone nor do you have to cap it. You can run out of it if you want that is no problem. RAMMING IS NOT ALLOWED! The first matches will be fought simultaneously - 3 matches on one Ocean map at the same time. This means that you might get into situations where matches affect one another. Directly interfering is STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED and if you violate the spirit of that you will get disqualified. So don't shoot your main guns at other matches. However, I understand that secondaries might go off sometimes so that can be overlooked. Just try not to get too in the way of one another, but if it happens it happens. Luck is par for the course for this kind of an event. First 32 to sign up are held. If there are empty spots or people don't show up then I might have random people substitute. You might have to fight more battles than other competitors due to the nature of how brackets work. I'm sorry, but it's probably going to happen to someone. PS If you have won a competition before you can take part in this, but if you do happen to win you will be passed over on the prize. Battleship Duel TimeDestroyer duel competition starts at 18:10-ish Germany's time (CEST) on the 28th of May. Duration can EXCEED 3 hours! Sign ups and check ins end at 18:00, so if you aren't there and signed up by that point you can only join due to an exception or similar. An example of a battleship duel: Explanation for Ship Skin Modding Contest As I mentioned before I am going to hold a ship skin modding contest. The idea is that you will create a ship skin mod to take part in this. You submit the skin and I will pick the best ones that are most to my liking. This has a lot to do with design, photoshopping and drawing skills. If you don't know how to create a ship skin mod then you can watch this guide video I made to find out how: As a submission simply submit a .zip file of the textures that you edited with an appropriate description of the ship you did it to. If you don't have a place to upload it to you can use dropbox or google drive or one drive or even mediafire (I would recommend the last one). Explanation for the prizes: I have a pool of 400 diamonds to give away for the submissions of the ship skin mods. I can give a maximum of 200 and a minimum of 100 to one submission. I will give out diamonds based on my own discretion. This means that I might give out 2x 200 diamond prizes or 4x 100 diamond prizes, it all depends on the submissions. You will get bonus points in my book if you can create a non-rusty looking Montana skin, and bonus points would also go to an "Estonian-themed" Izyaslav class destroyer, eg just use blue, black and white colors on the ship and make it look cool. However, you can mod any ship you desire. Please make it so that the skins aren't something old. That is - it was created with this competition in mind or very recent. Also, please try to minimize the amount of copyright infringement you do with this. I don't know how it works if you use images from other people - it might be fine, but it might not be. If you have permission from the person who made the images then that would be great! (By the way, if you use anime-styled images you might find that if you get in contact with the artist they might just tell you that it's fine - that's why I can show the desktop background so freely in my YouTube videos because I did ask the artist for permission). Ship Skin Modding Contest Time Ship skin mods should be submitted (in this thread) by the 31st of May 2016 at 21:00 Germany's time (CEST). Explanation for "Reserved" 200 diamondsThis is a pool of diamonds that are there to use on what I want to reward someone extra. They are there so that if I find that I like a few replays that end up not winning in the contest but are still to my liking I might award based on that. Or I might award some extra during the battleship duel competition or for some really fancy skin. QUESTIONS GO IN THE THREAD!

AA & CV's..This has gotta stop WG

What 25% "claim"? Look at my stats in Closed Beta and Open Beta + Release. CV games make up less than 1/4th my matches. The other 3/4ths are matches in other ship classes. This means that I played a significant number of games where I should've been "at the mercy of CVs because they were so OP and you couldn't do anything". I didn't find that to be the case though. Also, why would I need to "stat pad" with CVs? When I want to stat pad I pick up a ship that's strong and just sit at the back and mix it in with lots of division games. There, great average damage stats and win rate. But I don't see a need for that.
  15. Please use premium consumables. I can understand if you do not use them at lower tiers. I can understand that, but if you're in a tier 9 or tier 10 ship then you should be using premium consumables. It's okay if you don't use a premium fighter or premium anti air ability - those are fine, but it is *NOT OKAY* to not have premium smoke, heal or damage control party. Yes, it costs credits, but at tier 9 and 10 they make sense from an economical point of view already - that one hit you will not take because of them or bit of fire damage or flooding damage will already save you more credits than you would be paying to repair that same damage. On top of that you are a stronger ship in the match because of it - you are more likely to win and get more credits as well! By the way, if you didn't know, you can get premium consumables for credits. If you don't know how then watch this video:

AA & CV's..This has gotta stop WG

Read my post again. I quite specifically mentioned that, in my opinion, the reason why CVs seemed OP was because people didn't know how to play against them. I also explained that this is why I didn't see CVs as an issue - because I was almost never on the "suffering" end of CVs even though CVs made up less than 25% of all my matches. So in other words, I had always kept the opinion that it was an issue of how people played against them and it still is. WG just went the route of removing the obstacle instead of having people learn to play around it. And why would I make a 30 minute commentary about how DDs are OP? I never said CVs are OP, you're the one that claims that. You said that you found CVs to be OP because you saw somebody make a video where they swept the floor in a CV. I countered with "I'm going to be watching a replay where a DD sweeps the floor with the enemy team". How does this imply that I'm going to whine about DDs being OP? I thought CVs doing that was fine, and I think DDs doing this is fine. I also think BBs doing this is fine and the same goes for cruisers. Also, lottery prediction is about guessing RNG. Predicting future events based on current events has a lot less to do with that - it's about looking at trends. I'm sorry for you if you can't tell the difference between those two.

AA & CV's..This has gotta stop WG

I think if you actually put Tier 10 CVs into a tier 10-only match then even if the CVs dont touch each other's planes they would get deplaned by just AA alone on T10 ships. Luckily, these matches only happen on the test server.

AA & CV's..This has gotta stop WG

Of course I'm part of the "buff strike CVs" crowd. My reason for arguing for CVs even back during 2015 Summer was that I could see the current situation coming and it came. The reason why I think CVs aren't OP like many claim is that I've never seen it if I'm on the other side of the equation: if I'm the non-CV player that is being attacked I do not feel powerless or that I couldn't do better to avoid it (except in torpedo destroyers). So, one of the reasons why this could be the case is that it is an issue of just how you play against CVs. And I realized this very early on: WG will change things that appear difficult to a big part of the playerbase instead of having them learn how to deal with it. Playing agaisnt CVs was seemingly difficult for many players and thus it has been changed. Now it's a lot easier and the average player reacts much worse when a CV is attacking them. This is not what I wanted - it makes CVs weaker against players that deserve to get struck and it makes those that know how to deal with it even harder to deal with. Against very good players that play in a semi-organized fashion CVs were pretty much always going to be relegated to scout roles. And Team Battles showed us exactly that. This is why I've always been arguing for *strike* CVs, not just CVs in general. There are/were only a handful of players on EU that could make strike CVs work in Team Battles and that just shows something's not quite right. The reason Team Battles are important to look at here is that in a Team Battles you get groups of players that are really good, so this is what you should expect if the playerbase gets better at the game and the game matures even more. But frankly, at this point, I don't even care anymore. They can remove CVs from the game, they can make CVs so that you can only fighters or whatever. It just doesn't matter to me. I only argue here for entertainment, because I don't think WG cares about what I have to say anyway on this matter. PS I still think, just like in CBT, that there needs to be something like ramping AA damage effect on (torpedo) destroyers so CVs can't permanently ruin their game. Eg if a plane is in the AA range of a DD for a long time the AA gets stronger and stronger and just murders the planes eventually. Except there are videos of this in essentially every class. Shall we nerf all the other classes too then? Oh no! A 9 kill destroyer game! Nerf destroyers!! In fact, I'm going to be doing commentary on a 9-kill destroyer match in the next 30 minutes.

Yes, and for some reason your Iowa stats are so far above your "average" stats too. Clearly this must mean that the Iowa is overpowered, because due to your stats you are overperforming! /sarcasm No, it doesn't mean that at all. This simply shows a difference in how ship classes are played. Things like average damage per game, average ship kills, average planes shot down, average experience all depend on what kind of a role you're trying to fill and what kind of a ship you're playing. A ship that mainly attacks battleships is going to have a much higher average damage output than a ship that mainly attacks destroyers. A ship that mainly focuses on anti air defense is going to have a much lower average damage output and average ship kills amount because they focus on a different role. The only metric you can look at to determine how valuable they actually are in the game is winrate, the one statistic which you completely ignored in his stats. But the issue is that due to mirrored matchmaking with carriers win rate doesn't tell us anything unlike the other ship classes - it only tells us that individual's performance. But again, the other stats simply signify a different role they fulfill. You're not going to complain that battleships have higher damage output on average than cruisers, right?

These are my Closed Beta Test and Open Beta Test + Release stats side by side: I'm sorry but in which way was I or am I a "mainly CV player having moved to BBs"? I played CVs as my first line after OBT start because that is the cheapest class to run (because I die rarely), whereas destroyers are the most expensive class to run credits-wise (because I die very often), at least the way I play them. But clearly in the grand scheme of things it isn't actually true that I'm a "mainly CV player". You haven't even really played CVs yourself yet you're trying to tell people who are much more experienced in literally every single ship class than you are about what's right and wrong about balance. That is completely fine, but you don't bring evidence to back up your opinions, you don't have high profile supporters of your arguments and you don't bring your own experience to back up your claims. Not to mention you dismiss what people say that are inconvenient to you by stating things which are quite literally untrue.

So today I found out that the "bad anti air" Zao without using their anti air ability can shoot down an entire torpedo bomber squadron of a Hakuryuu and at least half before they ever drop. Now add AA ability to it and this is just hilarious. If I can't even properly drop a Zao that has AA ability on cooldown with a single squadron then wtf am I even supposed to do? Why play CVs at all in this case?
  24. Particularly divisions with carriers in them. Perhaps just disallow CVs in divisions? I'd be cool with that - maybe there would be even more CV players at T10 because they would know that they don't need a division to even have a chance at winning (just check out solo winrates for CVs on warships.today). I just had this match: Why even play this? If I wouldn't get a penalty for leaving I'd leave immediately. There is 0 chance for victory unless the enemy team DCs. What's the point of forcing me to play this crap out? Could you maybe just create a battle type where we don't have to play vs people who division all the time? I would play the game much much more if that were possible.
  25. The "Razer Green" is too loud. It can be a nice color to put together with things that are black colored, but the way you used it just didn't feel right to me. I am looking at a light gray torpedo bulge on top of a green colored ship, also all the other tiny tidbits like AA guns just spring out immediately due to them being gray. That's why the green color just doesn't fit nicely on top of the color itself not being the best one. I actually really like the look of the turrets themselves and I think it would've been pretty good but all the miscellaneous grey stuff just doesn't fit nicely in my opinion, I'm sorry. Also, on the left side of the ship you can clearly see the texture seam - it goes from bright green to instantly dark. Which isn't that big of a deal usually, but it's right above a standard colored gray torpedo bulge. (But again, the hull parts aren't even that big - it's more the secondaries and other such things - they go from a green tower to suddenly light gray. The idea is cool, but unfortunately I don't really like the Razer green colors that much even on actual Razer products. I do like the choice of style - that it pops out and is wildly different, unfortunately I liked a few other skins a bit more.
