Is the game more/less "enjoyable" now compared to when you first started playing?
Aerroon replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Less enjoyable. * Carriers aren't really that viable to play, unless you are super good at dropping DDs (I can count the number of people on EU pretty much on two hands that fit here) or like not being rewarded for what you do, while still getting trashtalked by people who have never even touched carriers. * Aggressive destroyer play with smoke is a lot less common, because CBT -> OBT smoke nerf was huge. Planes above a DD still hasn't been fixed either * Battleships are more fun, since there's more variety with some battleships having torpedoes, some being fast, some being accurate, some having secondaries etc. * Cruisers are a mixed bag - some are better, some are worse. 155mm HE nerf meant that quite a few cruisers that were amazing before suddenly fell into "really poor" territory. People have become better at the game. This meant that more of the flaws of the game are visible. Cruisers pretty much have to sit at long range, otherwise battleships will just RNG them away, and it's completely up to luck whether it happens or not. This isn't fun. Carriers often have to strike DDs instead of BBs because BB AA is so strong, and the often hang back in groups meaning that dropping on them is difficult. This isn't really fun. Striking a DD is inconsistent and you only get 4-5 strikes per game. Battleships pretty much have to sit at long range, otherwise the long range HE spamming cruisers will just burn them down. Destroyers can do things, but they have to be a lot more careful nowadays since smoke isn't quite as much of a one-click wonder as it used to be. Torpedoes are also not what they used to be. So my overall verdict is that I liked some aspects of the game from back in the day way more. If people just knew how to play better back then and matchmaking rules weren't as lax then I believe that quite a few changes wouldn't have been made. The good thing is that there's less standard battle I guess. EDIT: I would like to add that I do believe the game has been improved a lot, but some aspects of the game just weren't as visible when people weren't as good at the game. -
Doesn't the acceleration module only affect acceleration between -6 and 6 kts? It doesn't even affect deceleration. Except that the Khabarovsk was the best performing ship in All Time, 2 Weeks etc in almost all regions. She is significantly better performing than the #2 ship (Kurfürst, we ignore CVs because they are mirrored).

Shells fly drunk if I shoot after ship disappear
Aerroon replied to Jack_Sparrow123's topic in General Discussion
The game gives you an aim assist when you lock a target with X and fire. If you don't have a target locked then you don't benefit from said aim assist *and* you get slightly increased dispersion. -
I think his problem is rather that he's losing money *with* premium while having good results. That didn't exactly happen before even in non-CVs. I had a game yesterday where I did 200k damage as Hakuryu, I was #1 on the XP board and got 1077 base XP. I lost money in that match with premium. Midway is even more expensive to run. An average Midway game cost me 300-310k credits per game.

[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?
Aerroon replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
Except that both sites get the same stats from the same places. The König is simply very popular right now, but I still don't understand what you're trying to say with this. Your stats support the same point I was making. Also, the reason why the number of submissions was important is that it indicates that low tier DDs are much more likely to have amazing games than any other ships at those tiers. Now add on experience as a player to it and you get a nice picture. -
I approve of the Prinz Eugen.

She also has better dispersion. 293m maximum at >23km is different from 273m at 21km.

[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?
Aerroon replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
You can disagree, but when I ran contests for "best matches" and accepted low tier (tier 5 and lower) matches, then something like half were tier <5 (torpedo) destroyers, and the other half was made up of all the other classes. A destroyer reloading her torpedoes in the same amount of time a battleship reloads her main guns is way too fast. If such a destroyer yolos towards you and you dont kill her in the first salvo you're done for even if you do dodge a torp salvo. You're not going to dodge the second one. Also, if you look at warships.today then at tier 5 the Minekaze is the highest win rate non-premium ship (we exclude CVs of course because they are mirror matchmaking). The top 3 at tier 5 are all destroyers that can torpedo, and 2 of them are Minekaze clones. -
[IJN DDs] Why are higher tier DDs so weak?
Aerroon replied to anonym_PYC0RAuRIwe4's topic in General Discussion
It's not so much that higher tier destroyers are "so weak", but rather that the low tier ones are overpowered as hell. Sure, higher tier IJN DDs do need buffs, but the lower tier ones definitely need nerfs. The torpedo reload on those low tier DDs is insane. -

Do IJN Destroyers really need yet another nerf?
Aerroon replied to BloodRose13's topic in General Discussion
She already is, because few Minekazes are going to have 15 point captains. Also, to you guys talking about IJN DDs and how they are now poor: are you sure that it had to do with these changes? Because if you look at ALL TIME stats then the Shimakaze is at the bottom. And from what I remember the Shimakaze never did historically that well. She always performed pretty poorly - exactly in line with tier 6+ torpedo destroyers. It's very easy to render a torpedo destroyer to not be much of a threat, and I believe that as a result torpedo destroyers have been doing really poorly all the time. They were just very popular due to how overpowered tier 2-5 IJN DDs are. -

Oops. Double post. Sorry.

But you contradict yourself right here: It's still the optimal angle for firepower and offers some protection. So now you can choose, with the change you'd always be doing the same thing. BBs would also sit really far back every time. Last ranked season at tier 7 told us that pretty clearly. Eh, it's a pubstomper. Gearing was and still is the better ship.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless
Aerroon replied to bloodynicknames's topic in General Discussion
Cruisers have pretty much always been like this. It's just that cruisers survive as packs: you don't have time to shoot all of them. Nowadays players have become a bit better and thus cruisers are suffering since "hoping to not get shot" isn't quite as likely. -

Scharnhorst has changed the game (get ready to park those cruisers boys)
Aerroon replied to venderbomb's topic in General Discussion
Why not "Light Battleship"? Heavy cruisers are defined as cruisers with high caliber guns, light cruisers are cruisers with small caliber guns. So wouldn't Light Battleships be battleships with small caliber guns? -
Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Aerroon replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, because putting arbitrary limits onto the number of ships is the solution to balancing. It worked out so great with CVs, right? Rainbow arcs do not and will never counter DDs. It's some myth people keep repeating. What you instead want is super accurate high speed shells against destroyers since those can actually hit them. -
Will the RN cruiser make high tier battles worse?
Aerroon replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
I believe the problem is with the RNG of BB guns. If it were more consistent people would recognize the problem much more easily. The guns aren't consistent though, so it's a gamble whether a salvo deletes or just overpens. This means that cruisers don't want to take the risk, but it also means that some cruisers that play poorly might not be punished for it. -
yesterday my zao got instakilled in ONE MINUTE by focus fire from 6-8 ships......ALL using AP on me. even the BBs! (Actually just one BB landed a good salvo and I died.)
