Terrible crossover, you either go with history or fantasy but don't mix them into one. This is a bad taste. -
Royal Thai Navy Taksin-Class light cruiser.
lmperial_Japanese_Navy posted a topic in Warship Projects
The plans of strengthening the Siamese (Thailand) naval fleet leading to the ordering of two light cruiser. With the cost of 1,207,720 pound and another 278,400 pound for the armaments Italy was chosen to be the one to building both ships.Already recieved the names by the Thais for both ships, one would be Taksin and second would be Naresuan. The Naresuan was first launched in August 6, 1941 and Taksin launched in May 28, 1942 but both of them never arrived to Thailand. Sometime later Italy paid back the compensation of the two light cruisers to Thailand in the amount of £ 601,360. ''Ship project history: Small cruisers, have received names Taksin and Naresuan were ordered by Thailand in Italy in 1938. Under an original design, they should have 5500t standard displacement, 30kts speed and armament consisted of 3 twin 152mm guns, 6 single 76mm AA guns, 4 twin 13.2mm MGs, 2 triple 533mm TTs and catapults for seaplanes. Interesting feature of these ships was that despite only one funnel, machinery had en echelon arrangement (from a bow aftward there were No1 and 2 boiler rooms, No1 engine room, No3 boiler room and No2 engine room). The kiel laying of cruisers has happened in the end of 1939, and in December, 1941 works were suspended, 6/8/1942 Italian Government confiscated both ships. Taksin and Naresuan were renamed Etna and Vesuvio respectively. The project was redesigned to AA cruiser. All armaments were replaced by new, thus catapult and TTs were removed. Besides providing of air defence of escorts, on the new ships it was supposed to assign additional functions of fast cargo vessels. For this purpose 400m3 holds were provided. By September, 1943 the ships were in 60-65% readiness. 10/9/1943 they were captured by Germans at Trieste, and in 1944 scuttled on shallow water in 1944, raised next year and BU in 1948.'' Congrats! In WT they are already adding the anti-air cruiser Etna-Class, the redesigned version for the Italian Navy. I found it very interesting that this ship finally made into a game.- 4 replies

JMSDF Ayanami-class destroyer
lmperial_Japanese_Navy replied to lmperial_Japanese_Navy's topic in Modern Warships
It is very difficult to find how many times this ship got changes in armament and so on, not much information in this case. However i'm aware that this ship went through modernizations at some point because for example in this drawing you can see that the 1983 version has the 533 mm torpedo in the middle removed and being replaced by somekind of a hangar, it also instead has Mk 32 short torpedo on each side if you look closely. But this is anti-sub torpedo, idk how useful it can be even if we get submarines in the game, i find the larger torps would be more useful... -
JMSDF Ayanami-class destroyer
lmperial_Japanese_Navy replied to lmperial_Japanese_Navy's topic in Modern Warships
You get 4 torpedo if you really need to fight anything larger than a DD but its main task is to deal with small boats, although its guns are rather small but will be compensate for the super high RoF, you can put out hundred of rounds in a short amount of time. If they give it usable HE pen then you only have low alpha damage to worry about but just like the Akizuki-class which has rather high DPM despite having some of the smallest guns, WG gave its HE pen of 30 mm and 3 second reload which made it some of the best gun boats, same thing can be done for the Ayanami. -
Instead of in a seperated sloth maybe it can be in the same sloth as either speed boost or torpedo reload booster ? These two are really useful stuff. Well, i honestly would not pick the DFAA over those two consumables to be honest, i just wanted DFAA simply because these ships were designed to kill aircraft so it only makes sense for them to have a consumable to support this task, and it would also give a new option for the players who willing to build these 3 ships for AA role which i can prefectly understand with the CV sh_t show we are currently having.

The Kitakaze has significantly more powerful AA from long to mid range. I'd believe it is even better than the Fletcher 5x 127 mm gun Vs 8x 100 mm guns plus those japanese Type 5 40 mm Bofors and then a bunch of 25 mm for final defense, and that is why the IJN AA destroyers should get defensive AA because their powerful AA defense will surely take a good advantage of this consumable....
-
What meaningless ? Flak deal more damage than mid and short range AA, with defensive AA would significantly buff its AA power ! Although it is still quite effective even without consumable but because of how aircraft became so tough that the 100 mm alone is not enough to deal with a platoon of aircraft, with defensive AA however could effectively reduce the number of aircraft before it reach the 25 mm AA range and then the ship itself.
-
I never talked about the 25 mm ??? And you do realize the 25 mm guns only count as short range which doesn't matter much, this gun is onboard majority of IJN ships and isn't what made the Akizuki a AA destroyer. The real AA power on Akizuki are those 100 mm guns! As i said, it is an AA destroyer because of the Type 98 100 mm gun considered to be the best japanese long range AA. Also the Kitakaze and Harugumo have 40 mm so AA defense will be very useful for those ships aswell. The single barrel is american while the models of twin barrel are copied from Type 5 Bofors which you can only found on Japanese paper ships at high tiers so idon't understand why they decided to go with the more or less fictional version of Bofors.
-
I think Akizuki-class in IJN tech tree should has AA defense long time ago aswell since it is an AA destroyer after all. Secondly why there are models of Type 5 Bofors ? This gun only seen on paper ships like Zao, Harugumo, Kii, Hayate and so on, no IJN ship ever had this copy of Bofors so i don't really understand how this weapon ended up with the Chinese ? It would have make more sense to use the model of American Bofors, no ?

HMS Agincourt and IJN Hyuga confirmed
lmperial_Japanese_Navy replied to K82J's topic in General Discussion
IJN Hyuga looks beautiful, i'm very excited for this ship. And btw aircraft are not too bad against BB, i played Ashitaka with worse AA but it doing pretty well, the IJN Hyuga will do better with better AA defense and better torpedo protction. -

Update 0.10.0: Commander Skills Update
lmperial_Japanese_Navy replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Why are we keep getting these fugly fantasy skins for ships the chinese never owned ? Why not just rename from pan-Asia to Chinese tech tree since you seem to be always wanted China to represent this TT so badly ? How come there is only one RTN ship in the tech tree when it is probably had the second largest navy in east Asia after Japan ? Or it is because they are not copy paste so you would have to model them from scrap ? -

Royal Thai Navy Taksin-Class light cruiser.
lmperial_Japanese_Navy replied to lmperial_Japanese_Navy's topic in Warship Projects
Hi there, sorry for late reply since i barely spend my time on this forum. It has been a very long time since i last made my research on this cruiser so i lost the sources where i got these from. I do believe there should be document on further details on this ship, personally i don't have it. But if WG is interested in making the Thai variant for pan-Asia and AA variant for Italian tech trees i think it would not be difficult for them to find it....- 4 replies
