USN is the top dog obviously. 2nd place belongs either to RN or KM. Hindenburg is pretty close to DM in pure damage output (411 vs DMs 469). Mino gets range, stealth and smoke to be a complete and utter... nuisance, to put it nicely. It should however be noted that both DM and Hindenburg are untouchable with Def AA, while Mino remains "vulnerable" to T9-10 air strikes at all times (read: can get sunk if the CV is willing to take hilarious losses).

Let me tell you something that will blow your mind: You can stay in front of the fleet and do your job, yet have enough time to haul back to friendlies for AA protection when you spot planes on the horizon as well! It's called intelligent positioning. Remember, I play DDs, too. And I have no problems with CVs whatsoever because I understand their capabilities and limitations. When I get caught out of position by a CV it's my fault and my fault alone. Some T4-5 ships would need serious fantasy upgrades to make their AA more efficient, which may offend some historical purists. It's much easier to nerf T4-5 plane survivability a bit (which btw is not unfair to CVs at all. Either way they're gonna get nerfed, and rightly so).
-
I see you have not gotten my point. You don't need better AA because you're supposed to seek ships with good AA for protection. You don't do that = you're out of position and deserve to be punished. Low-tier cruisers are vulnerable because low-tier CVs are overpowered. They need nerfing of some kind (definitely not the kind WG is envisioning, tho).

Quite frankly no one wants that (well, except the one oddball who proposed giving US CVs 3 torp bomber squads over in the CV sub forum).

Any predictions of when the CV Rework may be arriving?
El2aZeR replied to purpletrain0000's topic in Aircraft Carriers
This would be hilariously amazing and broken at the same time. Still, it's a fun thought. Just imagine the torrent of tears we will earn! -
Probably because WG had no sense of balancing (and most likely still doesn't). On weekends the scrubs become alive.

So much for "if you get a better CV the match is a foregone conclusion" lol

Great! You took a risk and it payed off. Expecting it to always work however is delusional. Tbh radar cruisers are far more annoying in this respect. I can evade planes by backtracking a little into the cover of my teammates. I can't do anything when a cruiser decides to push a single "I-win" button. This is why I opposed the introduction of radar. The only reason why we had the whole DD overpopulation thing is because WG killed off CVs. So instead of fixing it they introduced another stupid one-button mechanic. Just WG things I guess... When I'm faced with a 2x cross drop I often find myself thinking "If only I had WASD hax'd a bit earlier/later, I would've evaded them all". There is that weird perfect little window where you can evade a side drop with little maneuvering, setting you up to evade the 2nd drop as well. A 3x cross drop is impossible to evade, I'll give you that. Then again I should reiterate for others that if a CV has the time to set up a perfect cross drop, YOU'VE done something wrong, not the CV.

Long range combat, watching shell splashes, dialing in your own firing solution (you could let the computer auto-calculate, but it would always be much more inaccurate than if you had done it yourself), waiting ages for your guns to reload, manual AA, etc. etc. etc. My guess is you've never reached high tier ships in the game. Low tier battles (called "Blitzkrieg") were completely different. 1. You're not there to spot for your team. 2. You can't spot torps for your team. 3. You can't smoke in your own teammates. 4. You can't assist in destroying weak ships/priority targets See, contrary to popular belief DDs are not meant to be lone wolfs. No ship in the game really is, not even a CV. All cross drops are technically speaking evadeable. Whether or not players are capable of hitting that perfect window is another story entirely. Yeah, no. Why? Because a DD was never meant to be able to stand up to an air strike solo. It's the way this game is designed. You get caught out of position, you get punished. Easy as that. There is nothing "op" or "unfair" in it. It simply means that YOU have made bad decisions and the enemy capitalized on the opportunity YOU offered him.

Fun at the expense of others. It quite frankly makes you a bad teammate. Last I heard it's player numbers have roughly halved. NavyField was more of a simulation than WoWs will ever be. Isn't that what you wanted?

Someone help me getting rid of the ARP voices, please
El2aZeR replied to JapLance's topic in General Discussion
Let me get this straight, you want to play ARP ships without the ARP voices, correct? You're probably out of luck then. -
One was a Benson, the other was either a Shiratsuyu or an Akatsuki. Both times with all bombers from a Hiryu (2 torps, 2 dives). Both times 0 torp hits, a few bomb hits that failed to do meaningful damage. Uhm, yeah, I did agree with you? Cruisers are pretty much worthless in the AA department up until T6-7. In general planes are far too strong in T4-5, a nerf to plane survivability and/or torp damage at those tiers would be very much reasonable.
-
Tbh I always found it fairly easy to evade planes in IJN DDs thanks to a combination of speed, agility and concealment. Then again I 1. tend not to go solo in DDs and thus always have some sort of support nearby if there's a CV and 2. haven't actually played IJN DDs after the rework. so my information may be outdated. So you prefer games to be more realistic than arcade. That's fine. It also perfectly describes NavyField. Where is it now? Ah, right, dead before the alpha of WoWs even started.

Imagine if she only had 10k hp, tho.

Pretty hard, actually, assuming that DD plays well. I've had quite a few instances yesterday alone in which I scored little damage against a DD that maneuvered correctly, even when cross dropping. On the same note I have little difficulty evading planes when playing DDs myself. Maybe you simply need to l2p? Sure, you can't do much in a T5 cruiser, but even CV players agree that CVs are grossly OP at T4-5. Trust me when I say it gets better for cruisers in the long run, to the point of total immunity against air strikes.
-
Obviously War Thunder is the most realistic simulator ever. Not arcade at all. I mean sure, if you want ships to engage at ranges where they can't even see each other, wait 1-2 minutes to spot their shell splashes, get 0-5% hitrates and have battles last several hours, be my guest. It's more than sensible to assume, however, that this game would've been dead within months if it had turned out like this.
-
Jesus, stop it already. This is not a simulator. How often do we have to tell you that WG has tried a more realistic approach with WoWs already and found that it wasn't fun? Really, if you want a simulator (or anything more realistic) just stop playing WoWs. It's not gonna happen. A "murder blob" can also consist of 3-5 ships with the way AA currently is. It doesn't prevent you at all from executing the maneuvers you presented. All you need is a single cruiser with good AA, alternatively one partially AA spec'd US BB will also suffice to discourage a CV from striking you depending on the tier. Sure, if he gets picked off you'll become exposed, but hey, that'd be teamplay on the other side, no? (Exceptions are in T4-5, where literally no amount of ships will ever save you and that is indeed a problem) Those "weakest targets" are also the most difficult, most influential and potentially the most damaging targets. So technically speaking CVs are indeed going for the "strongest target" like you're doing. Not sure what you're complaining about.
-
When in a "murder blob" you can: - support others with AA - spot for others - spot torps for others - lay smoke for others - concentrate fire - tank damage for others - get supported in return When going solo you can: - potentially spot for others Dayum, all dem options that get removed. I'm impressed.
-
How much of a scrub do you have to be if you're complaining about CVs when playing cruisers? T8 is a blast in Chapa and Takao (aka peasant-Atago). I sold Mogami after she was nerfed. NO feels uncomfortable, but according to my stats with her I'm not doing too bad, so it's probably just me. So yeah, T8 definitely isn't the worst tier for cruisers. That dubious honor should go to T5 currently as you're pretty much guaranteed to be bottom tier in nine out of ten games.
-
That should actually oneshot a Yama as well considering the TDS doesn't cover the entire ship and Yama would barely survive if it did.
-
You do realize these "destroyer players" also play BBs? And not only do they play them, they're usually a lot better at it than those "battleship players" that ask for buffs. Which is precisely why we're allowed to make fun of them and tell them to l2p. On the other hand you can't make fun of the OP here because he has a valid point and has outlined it well. Whether or not it would be beneficial to balance is another story entirely. As it stands right now, perhaps not, but with the upcoming removal of stealth firing it will possibly become necessary to cut the damage BBs can deal to DDs with AP shells. I mean really, have you perhaps missed all those "destroyer players" in this thread that have argued against such a change, believing that you should in fact get punished when you're out of position anyway? That's the thing that should in fact make you fall off your chair: Your (in)ability to read.

On the RU server you apparently get rewards for high positive Karma (signals, credits, doubloons, even premium ships). On all other servers you get nothing.
-
Pretty sure you meant credits? 200k doubloons would currently be worth 658€ if you buy it in 50k increments (max allowed value) from the shop.
