USS Alabama tier 8 US premium BB preliminary stats (5.16)

Interesting how they chose to keep the unrealistically high citadel on the Alabama but decided to lower it (in the future) on the Iowa/Monty for the sake of balance. *inb4 anti-US bias*

See, the reason they can do that is not because CVs are overpowered in any way, but because the average player sucks. As of right now CVs basically exist to hunt ships that are out of position and they do so fairly successfully. In the average random match, that usually means everyone that is not playing AA cruisers are easy, relaxing targets for a skilled CV player since no one tends to employ even the slightest amount of teamplay (or players like stevlin here think that teamplay is rubbish and that they should be able to go solo however they like). The other side holds true as well. On the off chance a skilled CV player happens to meet a well coordinated enemy team there is little he can do to influence the game no matter how skilled he is. While the skill gap between average and skilled CV players is indeed a problem, it wouldn't be such a tremendous deal as it is now if the average playerbase had some tiny semblance of skill. A skilled CV player is a force multiplier, not a base value. If your team consists of scrubs and the enemy team is good, there is little you can do to win the game no matter how hard you're shutting down the enemy CV. But such a scenario is an incredible rarity right now, therefore skilled CV players thrive and are allowed to pull incredible statistical numbers.

How so? CVs have both strengths and weaknesses. Their counters are both highly effective and widely available. If it's a "failed concept" why do all skilled players agree then that CVs are fine? Is it perhaps just you?

Well, that's actually a lot better than her contemporaries, so...

The Marblehead (..for REAL SAILORS only!)

Well, I tend to play *cough* sealclub *cough* a fair amount of T5 CVs and I do get my fair share of T5-7 games, so I really can't share that observation. Do you perhaps sacrifice a goat to RNGesus before every match?

The Marblehead (..for REAL SAILORS only!)

Since when? Afaik CVs don't get preferential MM, all you're doing is forcing the presence of another T5 CV on the other team.
  8. This is funny because Belfast is literally the only ship that has this amount of consumable overload. There is nothing balanced about it, people have been asking for nerfs for it since before it was even released (and imo rightly so). Technically, yes, it requires little skill, but it can be used to great effect as a teamplay tool. You see, people that smoke "egoistically" and sit in it to farm damage will inevitably get punished at some point and are more likely to lose the game than those who use their smoke as a means to support their teammates. As such smoke is a perfectly fine mechanic. Do smoke grenades in Counter-Strike require huge amounts of skill? Does Cloaking in StarCraft II? Wards in Dota? You could ask the same question about literally every "1-button-skill" in competitive gaming, but it wouldn't matter at all.
  9. RN CLs are balanced with smoke. You want to remove firing from smoke. RN CLs become worthless. So maybe we should just let it be? There are perfectly viable counters to people who camp in smoke all day (radar, hydro, torps, blind firing if you're close/skilled enough). I really don't see the problem. Why ruin a perfectly balanced mechanic? Just because you "feel" like this shouldn't happen? Doesn't seem like a legitimate reason to create a [edited]-ton of balancing problems to me.

No, you don't. Obviously the enemy CV will spot you if you're a bit further out, but neither enemy ships nor the enemy CV will be capable of capitalizing on the opportunity. Shells can be dodged fairly easily at 10+km and the enemy CV will not have time to set up a proper run.

Ahahahahahaha, no. Let me illustrate things a little bit: Positioning yourself between "dangerous" and "safe" allows you to do everything you want, yet still leave you enough time to run for AA cover if planes appear on the horizon. (How these areas translate into actual range depends on the situation) Also I seem to get plenty of spotting done. Depending on what skills they have, get within 6-7km and the CV will have to consider taking serious losses. Intelligent CV players will cut their chase here. That means you can extend as far out as ~13km from an AA spec'd ship and still make it back for AA cover in time. That is because, like you, most people actually believe that they should always have a chance against air strikes when caught out of position. A belief that is absolutely rubbish.

    Minimap - No Islands

So... Ocean = best map? On a more serious note, you should probably report it here: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/75630-update-062-feedback-bug-reports/

Any predictions of when the CV Rework may be arriving?

Regardless, instead of strong-arming beginners with every possible mechanic at T4, a tier where you're allowed to make mistakes, you're dumping everything and more on them at T6, at which point mistakes are harshly punished. If anything it artificially cuts the skill curve at T4-5, denying new players the opportunity to learn valuable skills in a fairly forgiving environment, and totally exacerbates it at T6. I fail to see how this is going to benefit them in the long run.

Any predictions of when the CV Rework may be arriving?

Yeah, it's not like you have plenty of other stuff to learn starting at T6. Just: - learning that AA isn't as pathetic anymore as it was in T4/5 - learning to kill DDs - learning to conserve your highly limited plane reserves - learning to manage more squads - learning which ships will ruin your day Surely new players will have time to learn how to manual drop and strafe as well. And that's if they ever find out such things exists after going 2 tiers without it. You will not learn how to manage squads at all at T4-5 since the amount of squads you get is far too low for that. Meanwhile learning how to manual drop at those tiers is far more forgiving since you won't get punished too hard for screwing one up. So even from a beginner's perspective this change will not benefit them at all.

No, it doesn't. Your own position is not determined by the skill level of neither your nor the enemy's CV. The enemy CV won't be able to do anything to you if you seek friendly AA cover. And no, the game hasn't changed since I "last played DDs", since, you know, I play DDs almost every day.

The Grozovoi saga (nerf, actual status, news...)

Statements like this really makes me question if you've ever played this game. Have you perhaps never seen a huge smoke cloud before?

Duca D'aosta for release as premium

*inb4 millions of threads about how Italian ships are underperforming and should be buffed* ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  18. El2aZeR

The Grozovoi saga (nerf, actual status, news...)

Because tapping your rudder keys every 30 seconds is far too exhausting. Meanwhile a CV would've had no way to counterplay it.

Algérie, Henri IV and Duca d'Aosta preliminary stats

    Obviously lacking glorious stalinium.

The Grozovoi saga (nerf, actual status, news...)

Interesting, but how do you avoid something you can't see? Really, with this statement alone you have made it incredibly obvious that you've never touched a CV ever.

A note about CV spawn positions

Tbh spawn locations of CVs themselves don't matter too much. A quick tap on the alt key will tell you very quickly what you're up against. What does aggravate me from time to time is that when playing in a division your mate can spawn far back with you, or you'll spawn way too far forward. That isn't a problem on bigger maps, but it's incredibly annoying (and potentially fatal) on smaller ones.

    Russian DD tree split

Well, according to Flamu even Khaba is a better "hybrid" than Grozo, so... Anyway, I bet she'll get buffed. I doubt WG will allow a Russian ship to underperform due to risk of getting sent to gulag.
  24. El2aZeR

    Division spawn

The other way can happen, too (CV gets a DD spawn). Can potentially get you killed if the map is small and/or your CV isn't fast enough.
