    Update 0.6.3 Feedback - Balance changes

    Removing manual attacks from T4&5 CVs is an incredibly lazy and stupid decision. A new generation of CV players who have never even heard of the alt key will now emerge, which will get absolutely demolished by the old crowd. And that's if they even make it through the boredom of playing T4&5. Those that actually find out how to manual drop will now have to practice it in an environment completely unforgiving for the average CV player. With T6-8 matches commonplace, coupled with low plane reserves and seal clubbers who have previously played T4&5 CVs now migrating to T6 that's going to be an excruciating experience to say the least. In a weird twist of fate, you have also strengthened seal clubbing in AS Bogue as well as any CV past T5, as it's one viable counter (namely strafe) has now been removed. This will encourage more experienced CV players to play AS Bogue solely for farming Clear Sky flags, which is almost impossible to come by in higher tiers, and give new CV players the illusion that AS USN CVs are both strong and viable as they progress beyond T5, which will lead to quite rude awakenings once they encounter a skilled CV captain. The removal of stealth fire is, from my point of view, understandable. The way it was handled, however, is not. You have managed to make high tier IJN DDs even more obsolete than they already were, with high tier USN DDs now taking over their role as primary torpedo boats with far better self defense guns and AA than IJN DDs could ever hope to possess. And that experienced DD captains are now asking for a way to actually reduce their firing range beyond equipping stock range modules is a sad, sad statement in itself.

I find the new controls a bit more responsive than the old ones (at least the input delay seems to have gone down by a fair margin) and the new control scheme seems fine after some getting used to. Aside from that, it's still nowhere near the responsiveness of modern RTS games. There are still plenty of improvements to be made regarding both the controls and the UI. Encountered some major bugs such as giving planes escort orders despite clicking on open water. The game also STILL cannot handle multiple commands in a quick succession.

    If you pay attention can't you technically strafe after a squad strafing out of a dogfight and thus kill them anyway? May be harder with Saipan since the window of opportunity is going to be a lot smaller, but it should be possible. Or are your own fighters stunned somehow when the enemy decides to gtfo?

  6. Personally I think it's potentially more of a liability, enabling DDs to drop their speed and thus get out of being stuck in between torps much faster. No convergence doesn't necessarily help either, giving DDs a bit more room to maneuver. Then again you do get 5 squads, so it all kinda evens out.

  8. I said it's treacherous, not necessarily bad. You have 43 capacity, 15 of which you immediately get into the air, netting you 28 reserves. After 2 bad fights you're gonna be spend, like it or not. The general rules of countering AS loadouts also largely still apply. Kaga will not be able to allow herself to not escort her planes given their fragility. She cannot really sacrifice one of her squads to scout, either (TB squads are too fragile and cut too much into her damage, fighter squad = opening). 48kn is a nice touch but, again, do you really need it if you can simply cross drop with 2x4? Pretty sure 48kn will result in a longer arming distance as well. Even in the latter half of the match ships may have enough AA leftover to seriously hurt you. Besides, in the case of something that doesn't have much AA left and is alone, do you really need this many TBs? Just forcing damcon with DBs then flooding will do the job, too at a similar, if not faster time. And that's if it's even needed. Just killing someone with pure TBs will definitely be faster in Hiryu. Sometimes more is overkill and less is enough. Theoretically speaking at least.

    Except that's not how AA works. Long range AA shoots a "burst" every 5 seconds, considering her low maneuverability dropping from long range becomes much more viable than with any other BB, making literally every other AA bubble of her moot. So either Hood allows planes to come closer and thus risk a tight drop anyway or she pops it early and leaves planes ample time to get out of there without too many losses. Also keep in mind that, while Hood may have 7.2km range theoretically, plane visibility is 6km. Unless she has someone spotting for her she won't be able to make full use of her AA range. She's gonna be a nuisance when she's in range of someone you're attempting to strike, but other than that she won't be able to do much against air strikes.
  10. When you stream in your TBs in a Hiryu in piecemeal, moderate AA will usually destroy ~2 planes of the first squad while leaving your other one with maybe one casualty. That results in ~5 torps on target. Meanwhile if you stream in your TBs in a Kaga your first squad is gonna be a complete loss, your 2nd squad may come through unharmed but, if the captain is intelligent, he'll target the 3rd and 5th squads instead, also wiping them out. Alternatively he may get 1 plane each. That means ~4 torps on target. Keep in mind that you have a launch time of ~50 seconds to get all squads up in the air (if they haven't changed it), that you're pretty much guaranteed to lose a squad and thus pay the time penalty for it may not help either (although it is kinda offset by the lengthy launch time anyway). What that basically means is if you plan on flying your strikes piecemeal you're gonna get longer recovery, service and launch times than Hiryu AND less striking power, thus necessitating grouping up, which will at least grant you an advantage in striking power against Hiryu, but it'll be offset by the time you spend idle, granting Hiryu at least parity, if not the advantage in a pure DPM race. Having 15 fighters is also extremely treacherous. Taking 2 bad fights alone will grant Hiryu air superiority (and you will have to take bad fights if your enemy knows how to counter AS). I quite frankly can't see how AS Kaga will be viable at least theoretically speaking. How she will work out in practice we will see.

    They did it. They gave a BB Def AA. Jesus f Christ... Though to be fair her AA is thoroughly lacking otherwise. She's at best gonna be a nuisance to CVs, nothing more. (Assuming this is accurate ofc)
  12. No it probably won't. Even if you send your squad to your target as soon as they launch the recovery time alone should make Hiryu service either at the same speed or faster. That and a train will get slaughtered by even just a moderate amount of AA.

  14. Ah, missed that. That sure puts things into perspective. Not sure if they will actually rotate that much faster. Remember that you can only land 2 squads at a time and launch times are always consistent no matter the squad size (unless ofc they change that for Kaga). Fast service speed may not count all that much if you have to land and launch 5 squads. 28 DBs with the IJN DB manual accuracy sounds hilariously insane, tho.

    It should, really. SE should technically speaking reduce your income, but since it doesn't give all too much extra HP it can be neglected imo, especially on cruisers and BBs. You should also be happy about repair actually, at least economically speaking. Say, you hit a BB for 30% of it's health and he repairs all of that, next you get a really good strike (or a detonation) and nuke him completely, that'd mean that you'd have technically speaking done 130% damage and thus earned more from just killing a single ship. You should also keep in mind that this is how the global economy works and does not just apply to CVs in case anyone thinks that.

    As you should know, exp and credits from damage are calculated by percentage, not actual damage done. For example, doing ~7k damage to a Gearing would earn you roughly the same as if you had done ~33k damage to a Yamato. On the other hand, if you kill 3 full HP T10 DDs, doing roughly 60k damage total, you'd earn roughly the same as if you had killed 3 full HP T10 BBs, doing around 290k damage.

    Weird. Try it the other way around, maybe (remember to restart, even if it doesn't prompt you to). Your setup should be more than sufficient to run this game at max FPS.

    Saipan is fine. One of her great advantages is that she actually gets 2 torp squads and is thus more flexible than other US CVs. Take that away and you have little left. Also Hiryu with appropriate captain skills and upgrades usually wins against Saipan on higher levels of play.

    Temps are normal, nothing out of the ordinary. 50% is definitely too low, though. You could try disabling energy saving options in the Nvidia Control Panel. Maybe something isn't recognizing WoWs as a "stressing" application and thus doesn't power your GPU up to full levels. Be aware, though, that this will make your GPU always run at 100%, even if idling, meaning greater energy consumption overall.

    Check your temperatures and energy settings and see if there is anything overheating or throttling.
