Tbh I don't even use TA on Gearing as I simply have no points to spare. And having longer range on the torps does actually come in handy from time to time. Extremely situational, but it has won me some games.
-
By the time I have used 2-3 strafes I'll have usually destroyed whatever targets I wanted to destroy and therefore fly back to rearm anyway.

Yes. Also mandatory Bbingo

Wow, so a cruiser can kill a BB in 3-4 minutes, not counting fires, heals, proper positioning and use of DamCon, stealth and all the other factors. Meanwhile a BB can kill a cruiser in 1 salvo. If you're having trouble getting citadels, especially at T4-6 in which so many citadel magnets run around, well, then I have some bad news for you. L2p. Seriously. Also mandatory Bbingo

If you really need that little bit of extra ammo you're either incredibly incompetent or the situation is, well, situational. From what I understand ammo is the loadout stat in seconds. Since higher tier fighters have little ammo in the first place that extra 10% will not matter in most scenarios. Haku fighters for example barely benefit with a base loadout of 45 assuming you've taken AGM2. DE increases that by 5, hardly worth the investment. On the other hand fighters with a lot of ammo capacity such as the upgraded ones on the Independence with a loadout of 130 don't really need that extra 10%, either. But meh, the skill is cheap. There is little to be gained when picking this it, but little lost, too. Personally I wouldn't recommend it just for a paltry 10% extra ammo, as it either barely makes a difference or is not needed anyway.

How Edited did a discussion about the randomness of winrate become a Edited. measuring contest? This post has been edited by the moderation team due to inappropriate remarks

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Mrw I see Flamu on my team while playing Shokaku. Managed to avoid completely embarrassing myself thankfully despite numerous mishaps. Video from official stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/140289836 (at 04:11:22) Chat highlights: -
DE won't make a difference when fighting anyone as the performance gap between T6 and T7 is too large to overcome. DE would have to give a bonus of ~35% to achieve parity with Hiryu in dps alone and more than 50% to give her the SAME chance of shooting down an opposing fighter per second. Thus the bonus DE provides (which is 10% against Hiryu/Ranger and 30% against Saipan) is too small to make a difference against Hiryu/Ranger and it barely surpasses the total dps a Saipan can bring to bear (by 5 points), an insignificant amount in the face of the vast difference in HP. Kaga is guaranteed to lose air superiority in every game provided that her opponent is competent. Therefore taking DE is actually a waste of points when using Kaga. Unless you're training a dedicated Hiryu captain it's not a skill worth even considering. Hiryu only gets T6 torp planes. Rest are all T7. EDIT: Fixed some basic calcs and statements since I'm an idiot who forgot to take upgrades into account.

<Suggestion> Make enemy capping base in Standard Battles more obvious.
El2aZeR replied to CleverViking's topic in Archive
You forgot that there's also the siren sound that plays when the enemy caps. One would think that with the caps displayed both at the top of the screen and on the minimap along with the siren anyone and their mother would realize that their cap is being taken, but with how abysmal current average player skill is... Well, you get my point. I'd say enlarge the symbol by ~20% when the cap is being taken and have it flash periodically on both the top of the screen and on the minimap. Have an additional commander sound queue and make the siren louder at 50%. -
Ladies and Gents, here we see the salty scrub in his natural habitat. A true spectacle of nature to behold.

Too bad, strafe was implemented to do exactly that. Besides, it's not like they can't be dodged. And, like any other class, CVs are not meant to be relaxing.
-
Hm, well, the whole "wiping disengaging squads via strafe" hasn't caught up yet, anyway (at least it seems like I'm the only one using it whenever I play). If it's a skilled CV player I imagine he would simply dodge the "covering strafe" and then engage the other squad, causing more losses than you would've incurred if you had simply sacrificed your fighters. And if you're playing against a potato any tactics involving the alt key tend to work more often than not.
-
There are two core mechanics directly tied to CVs: Spotting and AA. Both of which play a huge role in overall gameplay and balancing.
-
How exactly is the game broken because of "badly implemented CVs"? Imo the basic design and implementation is actually pretty good for the type of game we have (having CV on map, limited squads and plane reserves, flight and service times, etc.). It's when you get to the finer things such as controls, UI and IJN vs USN balance when things turn ugly, but that doesn't really affect other classes as much. Also there is no "RPS concept" in the balance of this game. Even without CVs it doesn't even come close. Just look at cruisers, it's inherently impossible for them to counter DDs without the help of either CVs or DDs themselves, as they're not able to spot DDs on their own if the DD plays it correctly. Likewise some cruisers excel at taking down BBs in an open fight. I could go on with this about every other class but you should get the point by now. RPS plays no value in the balance of this game and, quite frankly, it never really has.
-
Oh. Well, wouldn't make much sense imo since why would you use your second squad to cover a retreat when you can simply use it to engage the enemy squad 2v1?
-
All good players (and then some) have disagreed with you in this thread. Heck, you have even denied scientific evidence that your viewpoint is flawed. Let me guess, you also believe that the world is run by lizard men who use aircraft to spread harmful chemicals on this flat earth?
-
Honestly, people are treating this too lightly. Removal of CVs would entail much more than just the removal of one class of ships. A good amount of core game mechanics would have to be redesigned, implemented, tested and balanced, which in turn can lead to other core game mechanics needing to be redesigned, etc. That's basically scrapping the whole game and starting anew. And that's not even considering what to do with people who've bought Saipan (and Kaga in the near future), or the effect a complete overhaul of the game may have on other premium ships people have spend money on.
-
Man, imagine if BBs could catapult other BBs onto their targets.
-
Meh, the strafe damage area is sufficiently large that even a 1 second head start barely matters. Regardless, staying on his toes sets you up for a second strafe if he still chooses to run away.
-
A great joke right there! AS is by far the easiest loadout to outplay due to it's inherent limitations.
-
You don't need to. My point was that you can simply use the fighter that was previously engaged to strafe the escaping squad. That way you don't even need a 2nd squad on standby.
-
I found that if you are attentive and fast enough you can in fact simply strafe after a disengaging squad to wipe them out. Makes the whole mechanic kinda pointless.
-
Yeah, after all calculations can lie! It's all fake science!

You see a serious competitor to WoWs anywhere?

Can't find it. Maybe it's in the discussion thread. It was a job listing that hinted to it, anyway, so it's just speculation.
