BB Bias, TX Powercreep and RNG Rig are ruining the game
El2aZeR replied to nerderklaus's topic in General Discussion
Clearly, I'm the one who is biased. Ofc I'm the one who is defending all the gimmicks in a line while dismissing all the advantages. And I'm totally the one who lacks knowledge of high tier play. Or the one who clearly doesn't understand how HE penetration works. -

That has a different reason as well. See, the great gun handling of KM BBs (apart from their accuracy) is also their greatest flaw in mid-close range combat. Due to simple physics a steeper angle of fall of a shell is more likely to reach the submerged or waterline citadel citadel of an enemy ship. Combine that with the the better bounce-angles, great penetration values and superb mid-range accuracy at T9+ with the accuracy upgrade and you have one of three strengths a high tier USN BB can utilize, the other two being concealment and AA. For that, they have plenty of flaws to balance them out. KM BBs on the other hand have no real flaws. Everything else is either compensated for (weak TDS -> hydro; accuracy -> great gun handling + secondaries) or not a weakness at all (AA is good; "low vertical protection" is actually among the strongest deck armors in the game as plunging fire effectively doesn't exist; taking loads of pen damage is preferable to taking loads of citadels). You're basically whining like a little kid about the one thing you don't get when pointing at USN BBs, while ignoring that they have weaknesses to pay for their advantages you'll never have to deal with. Really, the game would be a lot better off if every BB line would follow the USN line in terms of balancing. -

Oh, right, forgot about that. PA DDs will lose much of their utility with this. Being able to deny smokes is far more game deciding than raw anti capital ship potential. Then again with the upcoming smoke firing changes maybe DW torps will become more valuable. -

USN BBs are broken? That's new tbh. High tier USN BBs are balanced in that they eat a [edited]-ton of HE damage due to the flimsy nature of their armor. Their playstyle revolves around cover and concealment because they literally have no other choice. While fairly accurate with the accuracy upgrade, their comparatively slow shells and high arcs make them rather unsuitable for long range sniping. They're also still the easiest BBs to citadel apart from Yamato due to how their armor is modeled in the game. Overextending in a high tier USN BB means a much quicker return to port than in any of their contemporaries. To characterize them as noob friendly, even after the debatable citadel buff (which imo was good for in-class balance, but bad for overall balance), is hilarious to say the least. -

They probably kept their higher flooding chance. Yup, that's it. -

According to WG it's fine because you also get a T6 CV as your teammate. Which is precisely as stupid as it sounds.

The USS Atlanta needs a rework + stats comparison for all T7 cruisers
El2aZeR replied to dayofmone's topic in General Discussion
I'm actually pretty sure I've seen it made in a Q&A sometime during beta. Not that it matters at this point anyway. -

Atlanta comes from a time when premium ships weren't blatantly more powerful than tech tree ones (in fact, it was promised premium ships would be weaker than their tech tree counterparts), but rather offered different and unique playstyles not found in the main lines. Guess that's something the masses cannot deal with. -
How about we implement this for every class? I mean, it's not like people have been recommending this ever since CBT or sth.
-
Right click on a queued squad to cancel. Be aware that this also shifts your view to your ship, though.

That has an entirely different cause, really. The current AA calculation is actually pretty okay (contrary to popular belief it's not entirely based on RNG) as it does it's job fairly well. No need to change something that works imo. A bigger problem is that the difference between having AA skills/upgrades and not is far too high. This is primarily what causes the huge disparity in AA performance even among the same class of ships. For example an Amagi without any skills/upgrades at all is unlikely to ever deny a strike from a same tier CV. Another Amagi that is full AA spec however can easily wipe out huge chunks of planes before they even drop (if they even get to drop in the first place). So to make AA more consistent removal of most of the AA and plane HP skills/upgrades then adjusting the base values as necessary would be a step in the right direction. How currently AA actually works:

The following values are from the official dev blog found here: https://www.facebook.com/wowsdevblog/?fref=ts BBs: Cruisers DDs As you can see, RN CLs should be perfectly fine. Other high tier cruisers suffer horrendously, though. I'm also curious if the smoke changes apply to secondaries as well. EDIT: Ninja'd. Oh well. The other table is much nicer anyway.

So WG, let's discuss the changes in the game and your plan.
El2aZeR replied to C4PT41N_0BV10US's topic in General Discussion
This. So much this. Just please. It is painfully obvious that no one in the dev or QA team seems to play CVs frequently. There should be more than enough players in the top clans and here on the forums alone who are willing to do it. -

Since you use Chrome I really recommend KC3. You can get it via the chrome store here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kancolle-command-center-改/hkgmldnainaglpjngpajnnjfhpdjkohh -

Nononono, you're looking at it wrong. You just make everyone play BBs instead. That way WG does not need to balance cruisers, HE or IFHE anymore because cruisers will no longer exist. -

You can actually just create an account on the English version of DMM (although you will not be able to access Kancolle from it). I also highly recommend installing KC3 which did all the proxy stuff for me. Never needed to change to JST or any system settings in general. Then again maybe I just got lucky. I recommend this guide: http://kancolle.wikia.com/wiki/Tutorial:_How_to_Register -
-> implying Recons and Engineers, or the two other classes in BF, totally have the same potential influence.
-
Because obviously my fav class is CVs, as we have previously established. I'm sorry, what was that about lying and calling others malicious? :) You know, there exists something called "experience". It is very often the case in high tier matches that out of 10 BBs in a match all 10 are utter potatoes, therefore the ratio of "good" and "bad" BB players must be worse than 1/10. Even if the ratio of good and bad BB players were 1/10 the statistical influence (as derived from the overall games played vs average games played by the top 100 BB players and assumed amount of good BB players) would still be far less than the minimal statistical influence of "good" CV players. It is very gracious of you to demonstrate that you totally know how averages are calculated, as should be taught in every school nowadays. Really, if you can't even get something this basic right, what makes you believe you are capable of judging far more complex things like game design and balance? Besides, still waiting for the answer you're still trying to dodge.

Enterprise is pretty balanced. :P (No, I'm serious. A well played Enterprise is either equal to or slightly worse than a well played Shokaku.) Dude, they're cruisers, not BBs. AND IFHE hurts BBs. Ofc it's gonna get nerfed. On a more serious note, WG has obviously acknowledged IFHE as a problem. Like the smoke changes they're probably going to trial different things in the next few patches and see what works. -
Still unable to provide a single example I see, instead attempting to pull the discussion (if it can be called that) into a different direction and taking the high road. How typical. Let's see, just take this as an example: The part that you keep quoting out of context is this which by itself is obviously bull-[edited]. Take the entire thing into consideration however and anyone who went to school should be able to see that the first part is only gathering statistical averages, something you're apparently very fond of considering how often you quote statistics. So yeah ironic, isn't it?
