Implying only low skill players complain about the Conqueror lol. I only focused on what is particularly insulting to higher skilled players, but if you're asking for it, let me rip you a new one then: AFT and AA range may as well be mandatory picks in BB play nowadays, making most of your point moot. Besides, having AA as the only "weakness" of a ship doesn't turn out very well as Khabarovsk demonstrated in the past. Tried keeping the enemy above your minimum spotting range? If I can do it in a Monty it can't be that hard in a Conqueror, especially considering the latter's accuracy allows you to be effective from even further away. Edited You first complain about every HE shell doing damage, then later outlining that Conqueror makes HE spam obsolete. Everyone with half a brain knows that only the latter is true, making your first point invalid. Stealth = massive survivability. That easily compensates her "weak" armor. Lolpens will be suffered only from Yamato, if you take one in a Conqueror head on you'll fare no better than every other BB. 32mm also still means Conqueror can angle against any other threat shooting AP, reliably protecting the ship. Completely submerged citadel also means deleting salvos are extremely unlikely to happen. So yeah, Edited Montana does not have 1/4 HE pen. GK does not have Conq's accuracy nor HE alpha. Besides, newsflash: Conqueror has very good AP shells as well. Edited Still want to have that discussion? This post has been edited by the moderation team due to inflammatory remarks.

So we should take the Edited , despite everyone playing on a higher level telling them to l2p and explaining how to adapt and adjust to it? Edited lol. This post has been edited by the moderation team due to inflammatory remarks.

Implying you need to take people who refuse to l2p seriously. I mean really, your whole opening post screams l2p, but I focused on the one part that is particularly insulting to anyone who plays this game on a higher level. But please, go ahead and tell the world how HE spam is apparently too strong.

Ahh, now it makes sense. Here, this is for you:

Which makes cruisers even more obsolete than they already are and that you're outlining this as a good thing, as said in the previous post. Did you miss something?

These 2 Called MM's Mother Something Awful

Seems like a very subtle reminder that RNGesus demands his daily goat sacrifices. -
You heard it here first, people. It is apparently a good thing that cruisers are made even more obsolete than they already are.
-
Implying KM BBs aren't overpowered and halfway braindead as well. Yeah, no. Unless you deliberately turn to expose your citadel below the turtleback KM BBs are virtually immune to citadels. Short of playing a Yamato with range upgrade and spotter plane, shell angle of fall will never be steep enough to overcome auto-bounce.
-
Chances are a fair amount of DP guns will be destroyed late game as well. They aren't THAT durable. In any case, sticking with a couple of teammates remedies the problem. USN BBs do not operate well on their own anyway.
-
I picked AFT as my only AA skill, that and the AA range upgrade is often enough to make same and lower tier CVs regret attacking you. Provides a pretty well sized shield for your teammates as a bonus. Any sensible CV captain will tend to avoid you anyway, thus using more AA skills is a waste of points more often than not.

Yo @Earl_of_Northesk, remember when you accused us of "fearmongering" about the Conqueror? Yeah...

The CV exclusion from Clan Wars (a commentary by Femenennly)

All of which are listed. Your requirement of "must have sunk in direct battle" is also hilarious at best. If a ship type is unable to adapt to modern threats or sub-optimal conditions, it is rendered by default worthless as a surface combatant. But since I have some time on my hands, here: - Knyaz Suvorov sunk by torp boats - Navarin sunk by mines from DDs - Sissoi Veliky crippled by torp hit from DDs, capsized later - HMS Goliath sunk by torp boat - SMS Pommern sunk by DD - SMS Szent István sunk by torp boat - Bismarck FCS crippled by CA - Hiei crippled during Guadalcanal - Scharnhorst FCS crippled by CA - Fuso/Yamashiro sunk/crippled by DDs during Surigao And this list ofc does not include the times when supposedly "inferior" ships made fools out of BBs, as e.g. USS Edsall did. And FCS. And destroy secondary guns or detonate their magazines. And jam the main guns. Etc. etc. etc. Sinking an enemy ship is not required to make it combat ineffective or economically intensive to repair, as should any "naval history buff", or really just anyone with a basic understanding of warfare, know. Indeed, refusing to acknowledge that cruisers could stand their own against heavier opponents over several hours, as demonstrated by the battle, is hilarious. If anytime during the engagement one of the German cruisers had landed hits anywhere near critical exposed equipment the battle could've very well gone the other way. Yes, the fact that Exeter was part of a budget design, severely limiting her combat effectiveness, while the Germans intentionally broke imposed limits plays no factor at all. Riiight. Technically speaking, yes. A single British cruiser could've been able to destroy/cripple Graf Spee. The fact that they didn't comes down in large part to luck, which in general plays a large factor in naval gunnery. On one hand you have an expensive ship that is only good in a battle line or as a glorified AA/bombardment platform. On the other you have a comparatively cheap ship that can do the same but also adapt to a multi-threat environment. Both of which are capable of doing crippling damage to each other, one by citadel hits, the other by gunning down exposed critical equipment or using torpedoes. Thus from the point of both efficiency and combat capability cruisers and destroyers were superior surface combatants. Calling a ship that has her fuel capacity crippled and seaworthiness hindered combat effective is hilarious. Sticking with two other ships or even just one AA cruiser is now semantic to a lemming train. How about you l2p before spouting such hilarity? -
With ofc. The skill is even more worthless otherwise. Dependent on MM, tier, class and nation distribution as well as match time, but in an optimal situation (top tier, lots of preferred targets, no enemy team cohesion, optimal position) and full duration I averaged around 7-8 full strikes per game, with EM cutting it down to little more than 5. On average I flew ~5 strikes per game without EM in high tier IJN CVs. With EM it dropped to 4 or less.
-
I did around 50 games and had a table set up with how many strikes I was able to fly as well as the duration of the match. Depending on how long the match went I averaged 1-2 strikes less per match. More if I could set myself up in an optimal position.
-
I've played with it for quite a few games, I think I have a pretty good idea about how ridiculously restrictive it is.
-
Because obviously Conqueror is only OP because of her submerged citadel.
-
You wanna be adjusting your position often when the situation demands it, but even when you're sitting still EM elevates landing times to ridiculous levels. That's easily ~2 strikes extra that you could've flown without it per game even if you never need to move. That only gets worse the closer you are to the front lines and the more often you need to reposition. Besides, what practical use does it have? You wanna attack low AA targets anyway, those are equally as unimpressed about your health boost as ships with high AA, so even the benefit it provides is largely worthless.
-
Indeed, it is, far worse, a huge liability. Even if you micro EM increases the time your planes need to land to a point of ridiculous impracticality, severely limiting the amount of strikes you can fly per game. By the time your bombers land with EM they could've landed, been serviced and began to launch if you hadn't picked it. It's a noob trap, nothing more. Seriously, any new player out there, don't take Evasive Maneuvers. Core build should look like this: Aircraft Servicing Expert Torpedo Acceleration Torpedo Armament Expertise Air Supremacy Other useful skills are: Dogfighting Expert - I use it only on Hiryu for those times I need it against a Saipan, ammo boost is hardly worth it on other IJN CVs imo, but other people like it Manual AA - only on Taiho and Hakuryu, as they are the only two that really benefit from it, but do so massively AFT/BFT - your go to AA skills on the lower tier IJN CVs Marginally useful skills: Concealment Expert - not really needed on IJN CVs, as these have good concealment to begin with. Keep in mind a very low concealment value can also be a liability as you have less reaction time to a DD sneaking up on you High Alert + Jack Of All Trades - if you use premium DCP as well this lets you survive a DCP bait snipe if you evade enough ordinance Expert Rear Gunner - largely obsolete in the face of strafing, but if you have points left over you may as well take it. Can be useful to bait and kill floatplane fighters Adrenaline Rush - highly situational, I'd rather pick something else tbh, but if you find yourself losing HP often you can maybe consider it DO NOT TAKE: Evasive Maneuvers - for reasons explained above Emergency Takeoff - completely worthless, if you get regularly set on fire you're dead anyway As for upgrades: Air Groups Mod. 1 - fighters are important. Besides, what else do you wanna pick? Air Groups Mod. 2 - again, your fighters are important, there is no alternative here Air Groups Mod. 3 - gives your bombers an HP boost equivalent to an entire tier. And they'll need it Damage Control Mod. 1 - honestly, just pick whatever you like here Propulsion Mod. 2 - contrary to how most people play you're not a stationary airfield and should adjust your position accordingly, but you're gonna be stationary fairly often. You usually wanna use DamCon for any fires/flooding anyway, so getting up to speed faster is more useful Concealment Mod. 1 - no brainer, drops your concealment down to the sweet spot
-
Monty is still one of the easiest BBs to citadel (at least I never have a problem doing so). Aim for the waterline. Conqueror is impossible to citadel at mid to close range. Her citadel is submerged deep. Don't even bother trying, just go for pen damage.

Clan Battle Announcement: No CVs allowed, max 1 BB per team, rent ships for players that don't have a TX yet
El2aZeR replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
I think it was about general random play. Will also still work with Minotaur after the nerf. But yeah, with the rest it'll be kinda useless if they want to shoot as well. -

Tell your teammates you'll smoke them up, then do it? C'mon, you don't have to be a genius to think of it. -
I'm pretty sure no one thought about what cyclone + AP bombs would look like. 9 hits, almost killed him from full HP. He never saw it coming. (Then again cyclone in general seems rather poorly thought out.)
