    Pretty sure those aren't actually windows but openings that are meant to be flooded when diving. The Balao class that Ling is part of were among the most successful in WWII. Then again I have no idea about sub design so I could be wrong.

You wouldn't believe the amount of times someone has died to this card when I played Danmaku!! with a couple of my buddies. >_< Well, on the other hand she's one of my favorite characters to use in Fantasy Maiden Wars (great series of games btw, can thoroughly recommend), though mostly because her theme song is awesome. As for KC, I'm about to clear E-2. Not looking forward to E-3, though. Even just looking at it I can tell it's gonna be a pain in the aft. Snagged Oh! Yodo dess! along the way. Not much else worth mentioning, though.

    Well, yeah, if you spec her for it. On the other hand if you go gun focused she just vaporizes other DDs (and some cruisers) as per her original role as long as she can keep them at close range, making her capable of exerting tremendous influence on a match BUT also challenging to play at times. Personally I'm a strong believer of enhancing strengths instead of trying to mend weaknesses so I went gun focused. Has served me rather well thus far.

    Meh, maybe NA will start complaining that she isn't as unique anymore so WG will buff her afterwards. Heck, I wouldn't put it past WG to save the 1600lb bombs for this very purpose. It's probably just you? I mean, AP bombs combined with 2x TB squads actually give you unprecedented versatility in certain situations no other CV can boast about. In an ideal scenario that means you can kill two full HP ships (a BB and a DD) in a single strike wave, whereas other CVs can only kill one. This is especially important in the context of opening strikes as the effect of losing two ships immediately at the start of a match is something most teams cannot deal with.

    Well, true, but the changes have actually benefited USN DDs to a large degree. Gearing is (to my knowledge) the only one that got hurt by them as she still plays her original role unlike her lower tier cousins, but since she also still excels at it there is little need for changes imo. True, nowadays it makes her fill a niche role in a line of jack of all trades, representing a rather drastic change in playstyle, but that doesn't make her bad. Just different. Now, IJN DDs on the other hand.... Oh boy. Do I even need to start?

TH16 sadly includes literally everything I hate in a Touhou game tbh. - poor visibility (your bullets with the only character you should ever play Reimu are pink, the extra stuff you can collect is pink, the backgrounds of some stages are pink and enemy bullets are sometimes pink) - curving lasers and bullets (FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU) - spellcards with bullets coming up from below - spellcards with bullets coming from all four directions - Lily friggin' White (still have PTSD from PoFV) Yeah, I know, I'm just whining and should git gud. :D (Though the first point is actually a legitimate complaint.)

    Fletcher is a Swiss Army Knife, Gearing is a bayonet. One is made to be good in as many conceivable situations as possible, the other is made to excel in a singular purpose at the expense of other characteristics. Gearing is a dedicated knife fighter. When spec'd for it she is the single most deadly close quarters DD period. That makes her inherently different and perhaps more difficult to play than Fletcher. True, it doesn't make her a straight up upgrade over the Fletcher, but if you were to give Gearing e.g. Fletcher torps she'd quite possibly be overpowered in the current state of the game. To understand how Gearing and Fletcher were balanced against each other you have to understand how IJN DDs were like in CBT. USN DDs were supposed to be fleet defense and utility boats, screening other ships against and hunting down IJN DDs, which posed extreme danger to their teammates due to their incredibly powerful torps (yes, IJN DDs had amazing torps, believe it or not). Gearing is better at that since she has better guns than Fletcher, torpedo armament was almost an afterthought when it came to USN DDs (in fact I believe at the beginning USN DDs couldn't even stealth torp until Fletcher). Though while IJN torps were hit with the nerf hammer so hard that they never recovered, ironically Fletcher and Gearing torps remain completely untouched (at least as far as I remember) from their CBT state, elevating them into the torp boat role they were never supposed to fill.

    Regardless of whether or not you're interested in classes other than BBs, you should play them even if it is just to see what strengths and weaknesses they have. And hey, maybe they're fun for you after all. As Sun Tzu has written: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” Don't get hung up on losing streaks. It happens to the best of us.

    Technically speaking as long as RNGesus is generous you can nuke anything but DDs. The whole arming/penetration/whatever of AP bombs is really weird in that regard.

    But of course. Still, that afk'ing isn't punished nearly as hard as it should be isn't a problem with CVs. Neither is the complete lack of guidance for new players. They're problems that get exacerbated when applied to CVs to be sure but they have at their core nothing to do with them.

    LWM tested Enterprise AP bombs against various targets and for the most part I agree with the results: Against BBs I found that AP bombs are somewhat ineffective against - all USN BBs (not that you would want to drop those anyway) - Bayern (never got a drop above 10k so far, mostly 3-7k) - RN BBs T7+ (QE seems strangely susceptible to AP bombs, you CAN get big hits against the rest but it's incredibly inconsistent) - Izumo & Yamato (also depends on the generosity of RNGesus) Against the rest you can either expect hits around 20k or a outright nuke. FdG and GK also aren't nearly as vulnerable as Gneisenau/Scharnhorst/Tirpitz/Bismarck, but I do ~30k hits fairly regularly which is usually enough to ruin their day.

    I have yet to experience a match against a GZ in which I did not earn CS. It's laughably easy. Dodge the strafe then click fight. If he strafes out counterstrafe him. Either way you win.

    Pretty sure the CV is having fun ruining yours, though. And in a PvP game that's all that matters. The situation you describe again only concerns you. I'm pretty sure your opponent was glad his teammate came in to support him by killing you, aka he's having fun. If you honestly believe the game should only revolve around your idea of fun then perhaps PvP games are not for you?

    Really, it should be. Sad truth however is that most CV players view their fighters only as either a means to get strikes through or as a secondary bonus task. Protecting your own team is paramount, it should be given the same as, if not perhaps a higher priority than scouting and dealing damage, yet most will put their focus only on dealing damage as that is the only thing directly benefiting themselves. And in a way that's not actually wrong as damage is still the primary source of income for all ships. So technically speaking CV players have facilitated this behavior themselves, but it is part of a broader problem as selfish play plagues the entirety of the playerbase. Yes, yes, keep diverting attention away from the actual question at hand, as you know you have no way of defending your pathetic agenda otherwise. :)

    That largely depends on the CV you're playing. An IJN CV should (SHOULD, not always can) be able to deploy a DB for scouting duties if someone asks for it. A USN CV will never be able to do this. You need all available squads for other duties depending on the setup you're playing. For example, you're playing an Independence with the balanced deck (1/1/1). What do you pull to scout for your buddies? - Fighters? Air control capability is lost, your teammates will most likely be mad at your inability to prevent an enemy strike. - DBs? Say goodbye to your DoT abilities and take a massive hit to strike survivability. - TBs? The majority of your alpha is lost and you'll take more casualties when flying a strike with your single DB. What, you think taking a couple plane losses would be acceptable? Independence has a little more than a single squad of each in reserve. Taking more losses than you need to is absolutely out of question. Let me tell you something, as a CV player there are often times during which you consciously have to decide which one of your teammates gets to live and who you leave to die. Regardless of who you choose or how correct your decision may be, the other one will do nothing but throw insults at you.

    Implying sticking together with your teammates or using the chat for basic team communication demands a ludicrous amount of skill. By not exposing yourself in the first place and playing with your team. However, no one ever tells you that. The game itself is contradictory on this point. It rewards selfish actions while teamplay mostly gets neglected, thus the first logical conclusion a normal person comes to is that they should be able to deal with air strikes alone as well, even if it is utterly wrong.
