  1. I'm surprised Big E seems to be the dominant CV in ranked tbh. Shokaku is more versatile on paper. You counter her just like you would counter any CV. Stick with your teammates and she can't do anything to you. Go off alone and you're dead.
  2. Kamikaze class has low resource consumption afaik, so they're pretty good for expeditions. No idea about Yamakaze, though.

Most Fun and Least Fun Ship & Why

Most fun: Gearing - dakadakadaka Minotaur - dakadakadaka Des Moines - DAKADAKADAKA Enterprise - makes BBabies cry. Fletcher - jack of all trades, master of all. The perfect all-rounder. NC - remember when BBs were balanced? Yeah, good times. Least fun: Yamato - bow camp and profit. Boring as all out to play. GK - be overpowered and profit, thus also boring as all out to play. Izumo - I hated her. Couldn't make her work no matter the situation. IJN DDs - nerfed to oblivion then powercreeped by better lines. Completely worthless nowadays. Yorck - seriously, this ship is just a straight up downgrade from Nürnberg. Lexington - first of all, 1/1/2 is a perfectly serviceable loadout to play and was a desperately needed buff. Doesn't mean I particularly enjoy playing her, even if the super accurate AP DBs make for some topkek moments
  4. Using TBs to spot is situational, but that doesn't mean you should never do it. They certainly should never be the primary spotting tool, but if they're the only ones near a vital target by all means stick around until either your teammates have dealt with it or a fighter/DB squad is coming to take over.

    British Aircraft Carriers

I am disappointed in the lack of Habakkuk in this thread.
  6. Amen to that. Hardmode maps especially are a [edited]. Even spent some oil on food like a day or two before the event started. Boy do I regret that now. T_T NC is a map drop only btw on both B3 and D3 (along with WeeVee. Another one is Wasp which you can get from A3 and C3). That or you can try to get her from the star lottery thing after you've managed to get both the F4U and the FCS.
  7. WoWs wiki is actually stupidly vague and inaccurate.
  8. Well, looking back at the last few months (or heck, even year) of my CV play history I can only think of one instance in which I was truly challenged and honestly felt like I was actually going to lose air control, something that hasn't happened in, well, forever. This guy knew pretty much everything I did, we both gave each other no quarter while we wrestled in the skies after I made some initial [edited] ups since I wasn't actually used to playing someone who was my equal. In the end I won because his team was worse than mine (also praised be the stupidly large fighter reserves of Enterprise ), we both had as much impact as we could possibly have sailing T8 CVs in a predominantly T10 match. And yeah, that was a really amazing match with all the cursing, frustration and elation it entailed. Something which is far too rare as you've stated. I mean, alright, I'm statistically speaking one of the best CV players EU so instances in which I'm going to be challenged are going to be rare anyway, but that still doesn't excuse the ease with which I can pull the average player apart without even trying. Heck, getting accused of cheating because I strafed someone isn't even a rare occurrence. Is this truly the standard of play we should cater towards by demanding fighters to be removed?
  9. Obviously. Though really, the skill in click fighting isn't the actual fight itself but how you approach it to get an advantageous position. I believe while there are indeed some problems with it (as you've already mentioned) click fighting itself isn't one of them. If you don't want RNGesus to take the wheel, then don't click fight in an even situation. A fair fight is one you can lose, so always fight dirty.
  10. Wow. iChase once again demonstrates he knows nothing about CV play. And this guy is a CC. It's hilariously funny when you see him spout "LOL NOT ONE OF US COULD'VE PREDICTED THIS!!" when what was happening on screen was hardly surprising. Just read up on AA mechanics. And no, while it does rely on RNG it's not based completely around it. You can explain or even predict everything that happens in the video if you know how AA/fighter combat works.
  11. That is I believe because even most skilled CV players don't see the value in air superiority or defending their allies. To them fighters are tools to be expended to force an attack or scout, nothing else. Most of them won't even bother learning the finer aspects of fighter control due to that either. And you can hardly fault them considering how rewards are distributed in this game. Damage is primarily what nets you exp and currency after all, regardless of whether you win or lose. This promotes selfish play across all classes, including CVs. For example, when faced with a scenario in which you have to choose between making an attack and denying one, most CV players will choose to see their own attack through and leave their allies to fend for themselves. And from a certain point of view that's not a wrong decision as making an attack will give you better rewards than denying one.
  12. And will this behavior change once fighters are removed? Lolno. On the other hand you know what removing fighters will do? Turn the match into a default loss for the less skilled CV player because the better one will always outdamage him. If you have the basics of play down fighters are actually an equalizer since they make you capable of capitalizing on enemy mistakes while disrupting or denying enemy attacks, allowing you to keep up with an opponent of superior skill. If you understand the fundamental limitations of CVs you will be able to utilize that knowledge to your advantage regardless of how skilled the enemy player is. All the micro ability in the world cannot save him if he is forced to engage you over the AA of your allies. Omnipotent map awareness will not matter if he has too many flanks to cover and can even be utilized to your advantage if your bait game is strong. Etc. etc. etc. There plenty of ways around a CV of superior skill level, all it takes is knowing the fundamentals of CV play. And since fighters are an essential part of it removing them will not close the skill gap even by the tiniest margin, on the contrary it will widen the skill gap even further. Not to mention the hilarious ways this would buff CVs, giving them practically infinite spotting potential and loitering time, always being able to exploit that perfect opportunity to strike. Sure, potatoes will get utterly, completely trashed by a skilled opponent, but that's actually how it should be. Balancing is (usually) done under the assumption that the player actually knows at least the basics of play, not around the possibility that he has no idea what the [edited] he is doing.
  13. This pretty much. The problem isn't with fighters. The problem is that, like with any other class, the average player has no clue how to play. Removing fighters will solve absolutely nothing while creating a plethora of new issues that this game quite frankly doesn't need.
  14. Tbh I like ALs depiction of Enterprise better than the ones from Pacific or WSG. AL's art is kinda hit and miss (some are really really good, others are... well, not as good), but imo Enterprise is pretty much spot on. Would've preferred her carrying a gun (because 'MURICA) but the superstructure-compound-bow-thing works well, too.
  15. Dude, what limited striking power? Yeah, 2x3 TBs may seem lacking at first, but then you have to consider that A. they are a lot faster B. they service super fast and C. you're unlikely to lose one during an attack run. Sure, Saipan may not be able to stack DoT, but she really doesn't need to as she can just fly a second strike instead. That there are fewer squads is compensated for by being able to fly a lot more strikes per game, not by fighter power.

    US cv lex

1/1/2 is a perfectly serviceable loadout unlike the ones before. Be glad you're forced to be useful.

How do I counter a Saipan ? [Solved]

Try to counterstrafe. Will probably fail a couple of times because lol UI but it does wipe out the offending fighter when it works. Other than that, not much you can do.
  18. Well, you can always Works fairly well, too. Problem is the vast majority of CV players don't even know what strafing is. Fighters are essential to CV play. Removing fighters degenerates it into a stupid damage race, solving nothing while once again creating new problems.
  19. http://store.steampowered.com/app/776490/__The_Disappearing_of_Gensokyo/ Touhou pls. My wallet can't take it. Hopefully this will encourage more fangames to release on Steam. And to come back on topic

    epicentre

Epicenter is absolutely horrendous on Tears. Other than that it's a perfectly fine gamemode.

Are there even people playing in Super League?
  22. That seems to be working as intended actually. When your enemy is strafing out attack commands do not work. Move commands however do, but several move commands will slow down your fighters. Just give a single move command in the direction you desire to get out of the "stun". However enemies can time the strafing out so you'll have no chance to dodge. The icon doesn't necessarily show you the actual position of the fighters as it is (afaik) averaged from the models while the fighters themselves are just a "dot" on the map. It's entirely possible that they've managed to dodge most of your strafe despite the icon saying that they're still in it. Or alternatively fighters strafing one way but the icon going in a different direction entirely, only "resetting" halfway through the strafe. Well, or it could just be buggy as all out as a lot of things about the CV UI are. That said, strafing is kinda RNG as all interaction with AA/fighter combat is. How AA/fighter combat works can be found here (third section): https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/96327-dev-qa-about-the-game/?tab=comments#comment-2368029 Basically AA/plane dps is calculated against plane health in some way to determine how many ticks (one tick = 140ms) a plane on average should survive in an AA bubble or in fighter combat. Using that the chance of shooting down a plane will then start off low and rise higher over time until it caps out at 90% per tick. Once a plane was destroyed a survivability buff or debuff gets applied to the squad depending on whether a plane was lost early or late respectively. The earlier the loss, the higher the buff; the later the loss, the bigger the debuff. Strafing boosts your DPS by a huge amount so you'll probably hit the cap instantly, but a 90% probability is still "only" 90%. It's no guarantee. It's technically speaking possible to survive a strafe with no plane losses, but the chances are miniscule at best.
