Which is ofc fine. CV play was never meant to be for everyone. But the thing is I cannot imagine how you can put CV play "closer to the battle" without it ending in disaster. For example, having to manually control a plane only for it to get shot down by automated AA would be frustrating as all out. Ofc WG may try an alternative I haven't thought of but considering their track record so far I'm not getting my hopes up. -

Commonly known by the gaming community as "graphic w****s". :) Jokes aside, one of the least important things when it comes to games are graphics imo. Gameplay has to be fun, good graphics are a plus but nothing more. And CV gameplay is plenty of fun at least until the UI screws up again. -
Why not give Heavy Cruisers repair to make them viable again?

AP bombs are perfectly viable for Lex as she has plenty of ships vulnerable to them in her MM spread. In fact, I'd recommend them. For Essex HE bombs are superior. Midway can technically speaking take AP bombs as a dedicated anti-cruiser weapon, but HE bombs offer more versatility.

Well, if it's not going to do much then why bother giving them range restrictions in the first place? If it's too small then it'll cause the aforementioned scenario as well as depriving at least one flank of fighter cover. If it's sufficiently large or even too big then it has no effects whatsoever. Either way this can only end in disaster. Putting CVs physically closer to everyone else is a horrendous idea. E.g. I'm already playing fairly close to my teammates in my Essex (as in I sit a bit behind the rear line) and I still get chunked for ~15k damage on a regular basis because planes spot me by chance and some BB takes a potshot (in fact I cannot remember a game in which I didn't take such damage). Demanding them to be even closer would be suicidal for any CV without an armored flight deck unless they buff their concealment and/or their armor to ridiculous levels. (Then again it would create an overwhelming demand for RN CVs with their armored flight decks. I can totally see the marketing strategy at play here.) -

Yeah, as others said, that's a horrible idea as well as you'll not only need to deal with your own range restrictions but those of enemy ships as well. You can easily get boxed in with no alternative route or chance of retaliation. Unless they nerf AA to the ground that's a no go. And nerfing AA to the ground just to accommodate this change would present a plethora of new problems. -

Not to mention it once again raises the skill floor of CVs, giving experienced players a plethora of new things to exploit while leaving the average one in the dust once again. Surely something the class needed. Seriously, time restriction for squads ranks among the most dumb ideas for CVs, which is why it is highly likely that WG went with that. -

I mean, I can see the benefits of time restrictions for squads to be sure, but what does that mean in practice? It means that you will no longer have fighter opposition. Simply time the launch and recovery of your bombers with that of the enemy fighters ONCE and voila, you'll never have to worry about fighters ever again during the entire match. It would make CVs the single most selfish and toxic class everyone accuses them to be with no capability for teamplay whatsoever. -

That would make CV play extremely awkward. Not to mention it may make them stupidly powerful considering the overreliance of the average player on fighter cover. -

Haku has faster turnaround times, Midway gets more alpha per strike. In terms of strike potential I'd say they're actually both pretty even. Midway has a pretty substantial advantage in terms of air control, but here she also suffers from horrendous service times. Since fighter engagements in high tier generally come down more to skill than anything Haku does have chances if she plays right, but in a stupid straight up click fight or head on strafe Midway obviously reigns supreme.

The thing is that you can simply pull back with your TBs if you see enemy fighters approaching, with fighters launched second they'll be right up behind your TBs so you can then play out the situation accordingly. And since fighters service slower than TBs you'll basically provide the same initial scouting information as the enemy CV. Nothing gained, nothing lost. By launching fighters first however you lose the opportunity for an early kill entirely and gain nothing unless the enemy is actually stupid enough to fly their bombers right into your fighters (which to be fair also isn't that rare of an occurrence).

Actually I'm pretty sure individual AA bubbles can target different squads. What determines when or if they switch targets I have no idea (other than ofc the original target getting killed). Could be completely random. -
Meh, more often than not a DD is actually stupid enough to move on towards the cap even if he sees TBs gunning for him. Alternatively if the map is big enough you can simply force a DD to dodge away from the enemy team depending on how he turns. And if the enemy CV chose the wrong cap to scout first or launched all bombers before fighters that's basically a guaranteed first kill without any real risk on your part.

Met @AgarwaenME in his Z-52 while playing my Monty. Fairly unspectacular game for me. Was the only cover for him and another DD contesting A on Trap, so I ended up kiting away from the enemy (and thus the main action) for most of the match. Still ended up third on the scoreboard somehow. -
