  1. So game mechanics that teach bad habits and further the divide between skilled and average CV players are not part of the issue? Or that people potentially not playing CVs because they either got bored at T4/5 or won't start due to the auto drop limitation to begin with? You're trying real hard to keep up your narrative at this point, aren't you? Here's the deal, CVs actually have, in theory at least, a pretty good learning curve. You start out with very few squads against very little AA and gradually get more and more squads while the enemy gets tools to defend themselves against you as you advance in tiers. In reality things look a lot different. This is due to: - T4/5 CVs being locked to auto drop and click fighting only, teaching nothing of the crucial skills you need to have at least experience with by T6 - T4/5 and some T6 AA presenting no threat to planes at all even when stacked. Yes, this is a problem because CV players will advance in tiers with the assumption that this is going to keep being that way, only to get a rude awakening call later on - the game telling you literally nothing about CV play Thus in the current system at least making CV play harder in low tiers, in addition with a thorough tutorial ofc, will result in closing the gap between skilled and average CV players as new CV players will be taught crucial habits and skills from the very beginning. It may not even have much of an impact on or perhaps even raise the CV population due to the influx of people previously turned off by having to go through two tiers that are essentially a farce. Also contrary to popular belief high tier CVs do not require 300 apm micro to play. If it did no one would be playing them because the UI isn't capable of supporting such input (which is a sad, sad statement, really). If you try to micro every single squad individually in a high tier CV chances are you will fail on that basis alone. Even if, that is the skill ceiling, not the skill floor and thus mostly irrelevant. Most, if not all skilled CV players only have to think about four individual groups: Two fighters, one TB, one DB. That is because we like to stack TBs and DBs into one group and attack accordingly. So even with a Haku having eight squadrons total we really only have to worry about four groups of planes. If you have the ability to do so (and want to deal with the UI) you can ofc increase the number of groups you want to manage, but again that is the skill ceiling, not the skill floor. To be successful in CV play you only need to worry about these basic four groups, nothing more, nothing less. That does not require godly multitasking ability. Yet is it said anywhere that you can select and give the same order to multiple squads at the same time? Didn't think so. I personally only found out about that after watching a video on YouTube ~200 CV battles in, which brings me back to my original point. Not only does stuff like this divide average and skilled CV players further in terms of ability, the skill floor is also artificially raised by noob traps such as certain captain skills, mechanics, the low tier handling of CVs and the game itself being of no help at all. This will obviously affect not only the skill level of the average player but the population as well. This again? Really? Is there nothing else you can throw at me but this pathetic piece of assumption on your part that has been refuted over and over again? Literally nothing I've listed will benefit skilled CV players in the slightest, yet apparently I'm still interested in keeping the current status quo. Go figure.

Did I mention yet that Midway is really good at air control? On a more serious note, though, I would've gotten a lot more damage done in a Haku while maybe trading a few less plane kills less for that.

How to shutdown/outplay the Taiho in a stock Essex???

Well, there is also desync to consider. The position of the icon is not indicative to the true position of the squad. However due to how WoWs works ships/aircraft will never actually jump around and such like you would see in many other MP games, instead they'll simply move faster to to their actual position. Or maybe he did actually pick the speed module. 1-2kn of difference can be pretty big considering speeds in this game are artificially accelerated. Really, I've never experienced what you're describing tbh.
  4. Well... Should I even say something?
  5. Entire team pushed away by 2 cruisers from one side and 2 bbs + 1 cruiser from the other, with the rest of the enemy that was camping in spawn only just arriving. That ofc leaves me as the front most ship. In a CV. I did not last long to everyone's surprise. "CVs win games on their own" lol

Have you ever seen a successful word filter in an online game? No? Me neither.
  7. I see irrefutable scientific data is lost on you as usual. Which is why you're so amusing. :)
  8. As usual your ignorance is amusing. You do realize T2-3 ships are quite a bit smaller than T4-6 ones? In fact, let me show you: So with auto drop on stationary targets you can at most expect 2 hits on the bigger ships, 1 hit on smaller ones and you will outright miss against DDs. Against maneuvering ships I reckon you will either get 1 hit or none at all. Besides, low tier CVs being as successful as they are only tells me (and anyone with half a brain) how utterly braindead the playerbase is. You can hardly tell me auto drop is hard to dodge.

Honestly the best advice to give for an aspiring CV player? Play all other classes as well. This will ensure that you know about the different habits, behaviors and playstyles all other classes offer. This is key in CV play as you will then know how to adjust your play according to any given situation. It also helps with knowing which ships you can attack and which you should rather avoid. You can technically speaking learn that while only playing CVs but it's much more effective when you personally know how to play all other classes, too.
  10. Actually considering the size of many low tier maps along with the maneuverability and size of low tier ships T3 CVs would be beyond worthless. You can't hit anything with auto drop (remember that manual drop won't be an option), there are no safe spots you can take around the map and I reckon launch and recovery times will rarely let you fly more than 2-3 strikes per game before you're hunted down. Still funny to see how ignorant you are, tho. You do realize that WoWs is a f2p game? That 3% can represent a huge part of WG's revenue. Also making ships easier to play is not the answer. BBs have been made easier and easier to play over the course of the game's development and look where it got us to. It is the most likely way WG is gonna go with, though, I give you that. Instead the correct path to take would ironically be to make CV play harder by, for example, removing auto drop. While it is likely that this will cut down CV player numbers even further initially it will ensure a natural learning curve for any new players to come and that the remaining CV players will actually git gud. It also removes the entry barrier of T4-5 CVs being locked to auto drop only and relieve the boredom of early CV play. Game mechanics need to be fun and leave players with a feeling of accomplishment when they're used correctly. Auto drop does neither as it is an automated process. There is nothing accomplishing nor exciting about watching everything just play out with a single click. It removes any player input, and thus skill, out of the equation, precisely what a primary game mechanic should not do. I mean really, would you want to start grinding BBs if you knew that you are limited to using your primary guns like secondaries until T6?
  11. It's like the devs don't even play their own game. Oh, wait.

The thing is that the best targets for AP bombs at T10 are also usually ships that will wipe out your squads before they can drop without even trying (DM, Moskva, Zao, French cruisers. Mino & Hinden can get big hits but will usually survive). You either need to be really lucky to get plenty of Bismarck/Tirpitz/FdG captains in your game or hope that you can bait DFAA. Against anything else, including BBs, HE bombs actually perform far better.

So WG, i thought this shouldnt happen?

Yeah, pretty much. Ironic, isn't it?
  14. El2aZeR

So WG, i thought this shouldnt happen?

I should clarify that I meant divisions specifically. As in you need another T5 CV division for this to happen. When you only have one MM tries to ignore your preferential MM, but it cannot ignore the opposing T5 CV who is not in a division.
  15. El2aZeR

So WG, i thought this shouldnt happen?

T5 CVs cannot meet T7 CVs. T5 BBs can meet T7 CVs. As the division system always takes the least favorable MM rules into account T5 divisions can meet T7 CVs.

Final verdict time! I don't like the Midway. She's just held back way too far by her service times. I can work around her T8 TBs, I like her DBs when they actually get a decent hit, I really like her fighters being able to exert tremendous air control, but her service times HURT. I feel like in the time it takes you to fly two strikes, a Haku can easily fly three. If you get one squad wiped it takes you ages to get another one in the air. And you actually really don't want to scout with your DBs because, well, they're actually useful as damage dealers. Everything relevant in CV play just gets held back so hard by her service times. Haku on the other hand has less air control capability, but with halfway intelligent play and decent fighter micro that can be easily compensated for. She has so, SO much better striking capability it's not even funny. And you get better scouting potential to boot as you can simply delegate it to your DBs if necessary. As for reserves, the massive ones found on the Midway will rarely get used if you pick your targets and air fights correctly. She also flies less strikes per match, so you have less chances to actually dig deep into them. They're really only useful in intense full duration matches, but then they really shine. Haku may have less reserves but more often than not she has enough of them. And that's what matters. So yeah, I'd rate Haku higher than Midway in randoms. Doesn't mean Midway is bad, far from it in fact. She definitely has her advantages. She's easier to play, too. But if you can surpass the necessary skill barrier Haku just allows you to excel so much further. Which technically speaking strikes a good balance between the two T10 CVs. Midway is easier to play but has a lower skill ceiling, Haku is more difficult but has a higher one in return. HOWEVER, if they go through with the Midway fighter nerf that can easily become undone. Air control capability is one of her only selling points, take that away and there's very little left to give.

    - attack a lone Missouri with TBs who is shooting HE, is getting HE spammed and got hit by DBs earlier - lose an entire squad on approach - lose half a squad on exit (- killed him anyway) And that was in an almost all BB game. I did ~150k damage before we won by points with ~2/3rds of the enemy team still alive (they all ran for the map border then sat there in true BB fashion), but I feel like I could've easily doubled that number in my Haku. I did get one game in which I finally had to take advantage of the super sized reserves, though. And it is in these moments that Midway truly shines. Too bad that they're far too rare. (And thankfully so as games like these usually involve me smashing my face into my keyboard at the utter stupidity of my team.)

USS Fletcher: Speed Boost or Def AA

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You don't want to hunt CVs in all but the most extreme circumstances, trust me. The new DCP changes means that a CV will always have squadrons in the air before you can kill him and he can easily afford to wait a while as having reduced hitpoints is not important for a CV. In a direct trading scenario against a skilled CV player you will draw the short end of the stick regardless of DFAA. Personally I use this build:
  21. I think you got them all. Well, except maybe the upcoming RN DD, but she ain't in the game yet. Wonder if we'll get her in the next event, but that wouldn't make much sense as the RN didn't participate in Leyte to my knowledge. On a completely unrelated note, I finally watched Your Name. OH GOD.
  22. Eh, imo the anime was pretty okay as an entertaining watch. I agree that it failed on almost every front except comedy, but meh, sometimes comedy is good enough. (I have low standards, I know) Though two things the anime did right were the OP and the ED song selection. KC is actually among the few anime I didn't skip the opening and ending every time. I also liked the nods to actual history even if it was kinda revisionist in nature (whether that was intended or not is up for debate). The movie was better but still nothing groundbreaking. Gets kudos from me for doing away with the awful CG in battle scenes though. I'm looking forward to S2 even if it's just for a couple more laughs.

    Fighters stuck

It is possible for your fighters to be engaged without fighting back. In that case you have to manually attack the offending squad, but due to the way AA is calculated you'd have probably lost that fight anyway no matter what you do. Your only hope really is to cut your losses and strafe out, thus resetting the fight once you are actually engaged.

Yamato and Musashi Armor layout still bugged after update

Are you joking? Tell you what, try to penetrate the deck of a Taiho/Hakuryu/Midway at any range with any ship. You'll see that you will get nothing but bounces. If a shell was capable of overcoming auto bounce but defeated by the actual deck armor you'd get shatters instead. Again, deck armor penetrations are not possible at the combat distances found in this game unless overmatched, thus the thickness of the barbette roof is completely irrelevant as long as it is not overmatched and is capable of defeating all HE shells.
  25. Yes, clearly we need BBs to push cruisers even further into obscurity.
