Ofc I'm assuming strafing ships will not be ridiculously broken as you're insinuating here. :D

    AP Bombs Are OP

For Lexington AP bombs are a pretty good choice because she has plenty of ships vulnerable to them in her MM spread. These are off the top of my head: May have missed a couple but someone else will surely say so if that is the case. For Essex and Midway I recommend using HE bombs. For Essex especially these are going to be a vital source of damage as your single squad of T8 TBs is far too flimsy, so you need to be able to pursue all sorts of targets, not just a couple. AP bombs can technically speaking be a viable choice on Midway if you want to bait DFAA on T10 cruisers as you have 2x TBs anyway, but HE bombs provide you with far more flexibility.

How to deal with CV hate and other things?

As a general rule of thumb no matter how good you are in a CV, at the end of the day someone is going to be salty. As you said, your team expects you to be everywhere at the right moment, most people do not understand your limitations as they simply don't play CVs, thus do not know the challenges you are facing. There are also times when you just have to decide which flank you cover and which ships you abandon to their fate and no matter what decision you make or how correct it may be, at least one guy is going to whine and complain. It's simply part of CV play at the moment. Don't let it bother you. If you really want to make a big effort into improving I'll refer you to Farra's CV guide here: (Wait a while for the thread to load, lots of videos in here.) If there is anything else that you don't understand or need help with, just create a thread in the Gameplay or CV subsection. Someone will help you then for sure (though be prepared for a couple of "git gud" comments).

    another suggestion for cv-play

Because unless the enemy CV has no more planes left your fighters have better things to do than to waste their numbers and ammo on a surface ship. Heck, even after the enemy CV has been dealt with you're much better off scouting with them.

    AP Bombs Are OP

Yeah, this pretty much, but I'd say so for a different reason. AP bombs overspecialize USN CVs when they're really in desperate need for flexibility, not to mention they're actually somewhat of a noob trap at T9+. The loadout rework helped a bit but Lexington and Essex at least are still left behind by their IJN counterparts. AP bombs quite frankly weren't needed (except maybe as a gimmick for Enterprise), the 1000lb HE bombs do plenty of damage and provide great utility but are simply far too reliant on RNG. Giving them straight up more accuracy however would make them too powerful. What they really need is a more skill-based drop mechanic. Even something as simple as "the sooner you lock in the more accurate they are" would more than suffice.

    AP Bombs Are OP

It kinda was, but then failed spectacularly because AP bombs in high tiers are worthless against all BBs but Tirpitz, Bismarck and FdG as I stated previously. BUT they are hilariously effective against DM, Zao, Moskva and Henry. Minotaur and Hindenburg will not get oneshot but they can take pretty big hits.
  7. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

Yes we are, because to be able to use AP bombs a CV needs to be able to strike you in the first place.
  8. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

Which is a problem with the stupid spawn points. You can hardly tell me that that spawn is useful in any way even when there aren't CVs in a game.
  9. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

A problem with BB overpopulation, which you're helping to exacerbate by playing BBs. Has nothing to do with CVs nor AP bombs. Although if sailing next to an AA cruiser is not an option sailing next to your fellow BBs certainly is.
  10. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

AA cruisers are capable of wiping out entire strikes and then some easily on their own.
  11. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

Then the BB gets killed because he is out of position.
  12. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

Then your CV has misplayed and you're paying the price for it. Which is fine because this is a team game.
  13. El2aZeR

    AP Bombs Are OP

Seek AA protection. Also at high tiers AP bombs suck against anything but most T10 cruisers, Bismarck, Tirpitz and FdG.

Like you need it with your tryhard division.

    The CV Captains Cabin

Is it just me or is no one running DFAA anymore? I've nuked so many T10 cruisers with my Enterprise AP DBs in the last few days it's not even funny. Likewise when I think I don't need to support a flank with a couple of T10 cruisers I more often than not find myself watching in disbelief as they're getting slaughtered by aircraft.

To overhaul CV, must discard mirrored MM

First of all, a BB has far more damage potential than a CV. A CV is realistically only able to deal about as much damage as a single salvo from a BB has potential damage. CVs make up for it with increased accuracy and flexibility in comparison. And rightfully so considering they need 3-4 minutes to reload, their damage potential can get 100% denied and they risk losing valuable, extremely limited resources every time they attack. If you're out alone in your Iowa you've done something horribly wrong and deserve to get punished with instant, unrewarding death. Unless you're playing a dedicated AA ship you're not supposed to be able to survive against a full air strike alone. If your entire team is camping you never deserved to win anyway.

Nah, both are top of the line and I have no such problems playing more demanding games or other classes in WoWs. Others also complained about it. Flamu even made a video on it I believe along with a supposed fix (he increased some kind of cache in a config file I think, but that didn't do anything for me). So, yeah, I think it's just a symptom of the genius UI.

    another suggestion for cv-play

Floatplanes already have limited flight time. It's called the uptime of the consumable. Fuel limits would make CV play hilariously restrictive. Also would make fighters completely worthless. Strafe was introduced so fighters can be useful as before they were so worthless against massed strikes it's not even funny. Deal with it. Using fighters against ships would be a horrible waste of your fighters. It'd be nothing but a noob trap. Stop asking for this ridiculous feature. [SPECULATION] Fighters already suffer a penalty when getting "intercepted" from doing anything else. I can't actually prove it, but when I click a fighter squad that's attacking one of my bombers, on the move or the like I am almost always winning that fight even if the squad is equal to mine.

Don't worry, that already seems to be the case. (No, seriously. I get ridiculous lag spikes when playing CV sometimes it's not even funny.)

Whats wrong with carriers in Op Narai?

I haven't actually played Narai yet, but generally speaking in operations every enemy that is capable of doing so runs DFAA. Seemingly with the DFAA special upgrade, too. This obviously severely limits your damage output as you're rendered incapable of engaging any targets near a vessel with DFAA for quite some time. Ranger in particular isn't very good at air control either despite the lack of intelligence of enemy planes since she only has a single fighter squad. Either Hiryu or Saipan would fare a lot better in this regard. Damage and shooting down aircraft are your two primary sources of income as a CV player. If those are being limited then you probably won't end up particularly high on the scoreboard. There is ofc spotting as well (which is extremely important) but the rewards you get for that are minuscule to say the least.

I quite frankly fail to see how the skill ceiling has anything to do with the fundamental basics of CV play I've mentioned above. It takes literally no skill, heck not even higher levels of thinking to determine that, for example, your fighters are best used to defend your allies and not to be wasted on killing that one floatplane some random BB just launched. Yet nowadays you have to be grateful if your ally even clicks on approaching enemy bombers, let alone strafe them. And no, neither takes a high amount of skill or micro. It in fact takes so little skill and micromanagement a monkey should be able to pull it off. For the former it's literally just hovering the cursor over the enemy bomber and clicking. For the latter it's pressing and holding the alt key, lining up a generous AoE area roughly in the direction of the enemy or alternatively leading your target depending on what angle you attack from and then clicking. Nothing else needs to be done. Anyone who says strafing or intercepting bombers requires tremendous amounts of skill or micromanagement must have trouble breathing if not reminded every few seconds. Likewise with manual drop. These are incredibly basic skills anyone should be able to pick up with a slight amount of practice, requiring barely any effort whatsoever. 1. Yes, but this is mostly due to WG's failure of educating the playerbase and needs to be treated as such. Regardless of how we change CVs, if this is not remedied it will stay that way. Unless ofc you go the way of our mutual friend here and turn CV play into a screensaver. 2. More like DD gameplay is being reverted to its roots with the inclusion of CVs in a match (something the average potato already cannot deal with), but with additional hurdles such as radar, hydro and several lines dedicated to shredding DDs now existing in a widely distributed manner. As none of these failures from WG can be taken out of the game at this point the CV vs DD dynamic has to be reconsidered, albeit aside from preventing planes from spotting torpedoes I wouldn't know how to do so in an effective manner. 3. This used to be wrong until WG made the genius decision to change smoke, a necessity born out of their previous failures. One of the primary DD duties was vision denial, which nowadays obviously is for the most part no longer true. HOWEVER since spotting is also the only inherent interaction with surface ships for a CV changes to it need to be extremely careful. Or alternatively other CV abilities (such as damage dealing) need to be boosted to compensate, which in turn creates plenty of other problems. Another amazing dilemma WG has set themselves up with. 4. This I actually disagree with. Smoking up and island hugging would have been and still will be done regardless of CV presence as these are the most effective ways to mitigate damage taken or preventing an enemy from reaching your vulnerabilities easily. That has nothing to do with CVs.

Are you for real or are you just acting in an attempt to preserve your pitiful narrative? Determining current aura efficiency = how much AA do you have left Determining average life time of one plane in this aura = AA DPS is calculated against plane health in some way Determining maximum "ticks" which a plane can bear before destruction = when the chance of destroying a single plane per tick hits 90% Determining number of ticks remaining = how many ticks left until chance of destroying a plane rises to 90% Determining current probability of plane destruction = current chance of destroying a plane These are CALCULATIONS DONE TO DETERMINE THE CHANCE OF SHOOTING A PLANE DOWN, not some weird criteria. Are you in grade school or something? Yes. Such as not wasting my fighters. Or using my fighters in a defensive manner. Or selecting my targets based on how much hurting/destroying it will help my team. Basic, logical decisions. Unlike most CV players out there who either are dumb enough to select the worst targets possible or are just out to farm damage.

I see you still have trouble reading. Let me make it easy for you: And as I stated previously, most CV players, even those that are succeeding in a statistical manner, don't grasp the basics of CV play. Likewise most average players cannot grasp the concept of stacking AA despite it being ridiculously easy. This allows me to exercise control over a match far beyond the inherent potential influence a CV usually has. To do that I neither need godlike multitasking skills nor extreme APM numbers, just basic knowledge about the fundamentals of CV play. Therefore the two following issues are identified: - the learning curve for CV play is [edited] as most of the population actually playing CVs cannot grasp the fundamental basics regardless of how well they're doing - the average player of every class is beyond redemption in terms of skill or knowledge of the game, ties in with the former as it includes CV players But ofc you can keep denying that on the basis of "OMG U R UNICUM U ONLY WANT TO DOMINATE WAAH WAAH" without a single reasonable argument to back up that claim.
