To overhaul CV, must discard mirrored MM
El2aZeR replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
Are you actually for real right now? Automated system that will shred any planes when deployed in either the proper ship for it or in a concentrated manner = incapable of fighting back You just love to demonstrate your ignorance, don't you? -
To overhaul CV, must discard mirrored MM
El2aZeR replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
Because clearly everyone is pushing when there are no CVs in a match. It's also funny considering the best way to put pressure on an aircraft carrier is to push as a team. Sticking together does not need massive amounts of coordination. -
The thing is, do you really want CVs to be viable under all conditions? How would you feel if a CV could simply attack you at any time, anywhere and regardless of how much AA you stack or have, dealing damage with unmatched precision? The all or nothing playstyle is a necessity for both overall gameplay and the roles a CV has to play in this game. Unless they alter CV play radically I don't see this changing. (Not saying that AP bombs aren't a terrible mechanic, they are, but still) Yuo see Ivan, when disguising anti cruiser weapon as anti BB u can shaft cruisers further in name of solving BB overpopulation! Xaxaxaxaxaxaxa On a more serious note, I tried asking once if it is intentional that AP bombs are better against cruisers than against BBs during one of the livestreams. I didn't get an answer. Yes, it's true. No need to be so surprised.

Isn't it extremely hypocritical of you to demand more realism yet shy away from ships working together? But then again that's to be expected from someone like you. -
Fun times when Cleve was essentially the peak of the USN line, capable of killing everything even when up tiered to T10.
-
Huh, I was under the impression that it applied to all USN shells. Learn something new everyday. :)
-
Actually USN AP does have better auto bounce angles (unless they changed that? Don't think so tho tbh). Also their higher shell arcs make them more capable of achieving underwater penetrations where the citadel is usually the most vulnerable.

To touch upon that: Scenario 1: Fighters swoop in against a DM, lose a couple of their number but now suppress AA almost entirely. Bombers then go in and kill a ship that is supposed to be their counter via DCP switch. Conclusion: Mechanic is fundamentally broken as it allows a CV to kill its dedicated counter. Scenario 2: Fighters swoop in against a DM, lose a couple of their number but now suppress AA by ~50%. Bombers now go in and get killed as the rest of the fighters die in quick succession. Conclusion: Mechanic is stupidly weak and has no place in the game, serving as nothing but a noob trap. Yeah, totally my fault that you want to create a mechanic which can only have two results, either in favor of the CV (= broken) or in favor of the surface vessel (= noob trap). Keep blaming everything on me so you can justify your oh so precious realism. Totally an issue on my end. If there is one guy in here who only wants to see his own perspective, it's you. And it's beyond hilarious.
-
If your issue is "I can't kill everyone at my leisure" then yes, it won't. Clearly when you design a mechanic that only gives black and white results it is perfectly fine and has to be my issue. This is beyond a joke. The moment you decide to strike a ship with good AA without any assistance from your teammates you've outplayed yourself and he's reaping the benefits. If you believe picking off ships that are out of position or being presented to you via good play by your teammates isn't fun then simply don't bother playing CVs. Again, this is a TEAM game, not one in which you should be able to do everything on your own.
-
And if you don't do so you won't need to adjust anything in the first place. If there is a mechanic that is inherently so powerful that you need to adjust everything else around it to make it less powerful again then that's wasted development time because in the end the mechanic will either be worthless or broken. There is no middle ground to be found because you've designed it to be too powerful in the first place. And the first thing you come up with is to give CVs the ability to nullify AA almost entirely? Give me a break. GOOD. That means that that ship is doing it's job and you will need your teammates to either spam his AA down or just kill him. This makes CVs team dependent and is therefore a desirable trait in a TEAM game. Your own enjoyment of the game against a mechanic is completely irrelevant. You think your target would have a swell time getting his normally excellent AA suppressed to the point of nonexistence then nuked by aircraft he would normally shoot down? You think there'd be counterplay to that? Are you actually for real right now? GOOD, because without scouting DDs themselves become too dominant. DDs, like all other classes, aren't supposed to be independent from the team either. And again, your enjoyment of being the target of a mechanic matters nothing. Ever played when strafing didn't exist? Fighters back then were completely, utterly useless against massed strikes. They had no value at all. You could essentially play without fighters all the time and be completely fine. And CV players in fact did so. Strafing was introduced to both make fighter combat more skill based and to make fighters a viable threat against massed strikes. By removing strafing you're making CVs both more independent and more incapable of supporting their team. Deal with it. Whether it's realistic or not is ludicrously irrelevant. Contradictory to the current iteration which you're trying to change for the worse as of right now. Whether it remains so is to be seen. And you think your enemies have fun when you're killing them? In a PvP game being the target of a mechanic does not have to be fun. It is in fact entirely contradictory to what a PvP game is supposed to be. The idea of both sides always having fun is stupid to the extreme. There is not a single serious PvP game out there designed this way and rightfully so. One of you will get shafted and in this case it was you. Deal. With. It. - fix the UI - remove auto drop - lower the damage potential and survivability of low tier planes but give low-mid tier CVs more reserves - remove most AA skills and upgrades, balance AA primarily on base values, improve AA progression - instate +/-1 MM - adjust USN loadouts further, cut down their service times by at least 10 seconds - make DB accuracy dependent on skill - give DFAA a 1.5 second casting time, reduce the damage buff to 10% for BBs, 200% for cruisers, 100% for DDs - add a class coefficient to the AA formula, making base AA slightly weaker for BBs and slightly stronger for cruisers and DDs That's about all I can think of right now. Again, that is not how game development works. If you make a mechanic inherently overpowered then it will be impossible to balance it in an acceptable fashion. Such a mechanic will either remain broken or be worthless. Strafing surface targets with fighters creates a black and white situation. It's either completely useless and you're wasting your fighters, or it's stupidly overpowered. There is no middle ground because it either defeats the entire purpose of having AA or you're losing fighters for nothing.

team kill penalty, matchmaking and other amzing aborts from WG
El2aZeR replied to AmmVonKikke's topic in General Discussion
It refuses to own up to its own mistake, it hurls insults at everyone and it complains about capitalism in some incoherent way. You call this a success? o_ô -
You are still tying up a fighter which has far better uses. You're also bound to lose fighters on approach. Besides, do you even realize how hilariously broken it would be if you could just suppress a ship's AA almost to the point of nonexistence? These so called "AA monsters" have a reason to exist. To deny you. This is not a free-for-all. This is a friggin' team game. In every class, including CVs, you're supposed to be reliant on your team. That means that in extreme situations you cannot attack anything without your team helping you. And it is fine this way because your inherent role is not to wipe out everything on your own, it is to spot which is an incredibly powerful ability in this game. You are supposed to support your team and be supported in return, not go off alone and do your own thing. You're basically whining that you cannot attack and kill everything at your leisure, a behavior normally attributed to BBabies. It's funny that you mention CBs, because a change such as this would present a more than legitimate reason to exclude CVs. You just shot yourself in the foot mate.

Superstructure armor is always thin. In fact, KM BBs have the best plating against HE shells out of all BB lines. KM BB guns remain trollish but they become workable at mid-close range with Gneisenau.

team kill penalty, matchmaking and other amzing aborts from WG
El2aZeR replied to AmmVonKikke's topic in General Discussion
Intentionally shoots teammate while already being on a penalty, then complains about said penalty being extended. I am amazed. -
See above. Also if you're attacking a ship against which you're bound to lose lots of planes you're doing something wrong. I did a good suggestion. It was "Don't do this."
-
Oh, do be aware that there are also certain people here on the forums who believe CVs are the plague upon Earth. They will dismiss all irrefutable facts, point out all the good sides of CV play while refusing all the bad sides, insist on their biased point of view being totally objective and ofc demand that you stop playing this totally broken class right now. I won't name any but two are apparently following me just so they can downvote every post I make about CVs. I take it as a compliment, really. :D
-
Really? What possibilities are there? - lowered AA? Utterly worthless as you've done nothing but selfishly waste your fighters, giving the enemy a happy invitation to strike one of your teammates and possibly air control for the rest of the match. - canceling out DFAA? Completely broken, DFAA while badly designed does the job it is meant to do. It is meant to prevent you from striking and shoot down scores of planes. Giving a CV the option to simply cancel it defeats the point of DFAA entirely. - damage? As I stated previously it would need to do ludicrous amounts of damage to be even remotely viable, which in turn would make it broken. Yeah, I don't see it. Because adding more mechanics that are either broken or noob traps will surely fix CV play.
-
Yes, because your fighters have better things to do than to waste themselves strafing surface targets and handing the other CV air superiority free of charge. There is no downtime for your fighters that allow you to strafe ships. If you leave your fighters unattended for too long you're doing something wrong. Even if they're just circling above your teammates that's time well spent because they're acting as an active deterrent to enemy strikes. Giving the other CV air superiority for free being bad is just "my opinion"? Are you serious?
-
That's not how game development works. You can usually tell at a glance what mechanics would be useful or what is required to make them useful. Fighters aren't meant to attack surface targets and will be in fact completely incapable of performing their original role after they've strafed a ship. Thus the damage potential must be ridiculously high to compensate as the moment you strafe a ship you'll be sure to lose air superiority, a huge trade off. That would make the mechanic broken, but anything less than that would make strafing ships completely worthless and a noob trap. Alternatively you could make fighters immune to AA, but that's also incredibly stupid. Either way the idea of giving fighters the ability to strafe ships would be horrible as all out.
-
Don't you get it yet? Strafing ships would literally have to instakill them or deal hilarious damage to be useful, which would be broken. Everything less than that is not worth wasting your fighters for.
-
The problem is that unless it's super broken it will simply not be useful, but the average players will not know that. They will be more than happy to hand me air superiority by wasting their fighters.
-
You honestly expect WG to fix one of their glorious gimmicks? You must be of mad mind comrade.
