Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Wasn't it only T9+? Or they scrapped it so they can keep this as a gimmick for the RU BB line. (I'm not even joking sadly.) EDIT: Buffalo is a CA btw. -
How would this not improve gameplay? E.g. if you reward all team-based actions more than raw damage then even if someone wants to be an egoistic [edited] and play purely to maximize his own rewards, he'll still have to do things that are beneficial for the team. Meanwhile all campers become incapable of sustaining their poor play and will be forced to adapt if they want to continue playing. Either way it's a win-win situation.

Wait a second, so Balti keeps her 27mm armor but Buffalo doesn't get it? I don't even... -
If it isn't news for you, CVs have the worst economy out of all classes by far. Also by playing this game you're by default ruining it for someone else regardless of how you play. It's inevitable in a serious PvP game. If you play well you're ruining it for your enemy. If you don't you're ruining it for your team. In fact, if the game is fun for someone who gets the instant, unrewarding death he deserves then THAT is bad game design.

Do you use "Vigilance" Captain skill on your ships?
El2aZeR replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I don't see a reason to pick it tbh. If your WASD hax is on point you don't really need it imo. -
Yeah, Shokaku has the same plane capacity as Hiryu at 72 units.
-
I actually pointed that out in the feedback thread some time ago, so I can only assume WG is fine with it.
-
I mean, I agree AP bombs are stupid and all but how do you only get 6 planes with a DM + DFAA active? I feel like I could get more than that without DFAA in mine. (I do run BFT + AFT + AA range, tho.)
-
What are you talking about? They managed to introduce another anti-cruiser weapon under the guise of fixing BB overpopulation. It's genius from their standpoint! On a more serious note, though problem here is that against most targets HE bombs already enjoy parity with AP bombs in terms of alpha strike potential ALONE. Add fires, more broken AA mounts and general utility on top of that and you'd need to up the damage capability of AP bombs to a hilarious level to make them a remotely viable choice, even if you base their damage on a percentage instead of raw alpha. If we want an approximate value, high tier USN HE bomb alpha strike is no joke as many can attest. A single squad has a theoretical alpha strike of almost 25k against any target, but realistically you can expect somewhere around 10k damage. Add the second squad and it's 20k. Add fires on top of that, well, let's first use the T10 BB with the least health. A single fire on a Conq burns away almost 15k HP, BUT because USN squads are unlikely to set only a single fire we should use two fires as measure, so that's 50k damage total. On a Conqueror this would represent ~60% of her health. On the T10 BB with the most health however 20k alpha strike + 2 fires equals approximately 58k damage, which represents ~55% of GK's total health. If we then walk the low middle ground AP bombs should do about 4% damage per bomber for 56% of total HP damage, 28% per squadron. Let's however not forget that penetration damage is less repairable than fire damage, so cut down per bomb damage by a single percent to 3%, resulting in 21% total HP damage per squadron and 42% with both squadrons. I wouldn't go lower than that because HE bombs have the ability to go even higher in both alpha strike and fire damage as well as more general utility. This basically means AP DBs will be able to seriously chunk down enemy vessels at the start of a match while becoming absolutely ridiculous during the middle and end parts, but that's what's required just to make them a viable choice when compared to the USN 1000lb HE bomb. (On a minor note this would also be a serious buff to the Enterprise, a ship that definitely doesn't need it.) This is why I believe it's better to just remove AP bombs and make DB drops skill based with higher potential accuracy. It's not as if the HE bombs are bad after all, but they suffer far too much from inconsistency.

Get the Dank Memes. BBs hate Dank Memes because it is a superb flamethrower. Other cruisers hate Dank Memes because freedom shells. DDs hate Dank Memes because 1 minute radar if you have the special upgrade. CVs hate Dank Memes because AA is absolutely haram. On a more serious note, you should pick the USN cruiser line because of the upcoming split as others have already stated. You'll basically get your money back along with new ships and maybe even a good chunk of free exp. Be aware, though, that the USN cruiser line is one of, if not the most difficult cruiser line to play effectively in the current meta. If you get caught out of position in a USN cruiser you're almost guaranteed a quick return to port. And it is very easy for inexperienced players to go out of position. Manage their inherent traits correctly however and you can exert tremendous influence over a match. Master the USN cruiser line and you have mastered (conventional) cruiser play in general.

Uh, Balti currently has 27mm armor all over (bow, aft, deck and side are all 27mm). It's funny that she gets to keep it though, since NO doesn't have it currently. Dat range, tho. USN CA line will potentially become even more of a pain to grind than it already is. (Not that I care because I'm done with it. ) -

Which silver ship YOU have played do you consider the most OP?
El2aZeR replied to dCK_Ad_Hominem's topic in General Discussion
Clemson is the single most overpowered ship that most people seem to ignore. Even in the old days when Isokaze was overpowered Clemson reigned supreme. When fitted out and played competently it is by far the most devastating tech tree ship tier for tier. I found Nürnberg to be ludicrously effective for some reason. May just be me, though. -
I found Lexington to be hilarious with AP bombs. Dealing with enemy fighters is a pain with your single squad and paltry reserves but the feeling of simply popping a full HP Bismarck is priceless (even if it's stupidly broken). :D

Just got offered this for logging back into my inactive NA account: I mean, I guess I could go get myself a mid tier CV and make some NA people salty but I don't think spending the time to patch my long outdated NA client is particularly worth it.
-
Well, Saipan if you want to spend some money and she ever becomes available again. Other than that, there is no sweetspot for CVs in general as getting up-tiered hurts a lot every time and T9-10 AA is extremely hostile. Independence and Midway are also the only tech tree USN CVs which enjoy near parity with their IJN counterparts, all others are vastly inferior. There are no shortcuts in CV play.
-
No, it doesn't. It's far too easily abusable in a PvP game. It would honestly surprise me if the ratio of guilty vs innocent people punished by this system is even 1:10. Mute only works for one game. So what? If you meet the same person again then simply mute him again. It's a permanent solution, if you choose to ignore it then that's your own fault.
-
Regardless of the toxicity of the playerbase the chatban system is completely unnecessary. There is a reason a mute function exists. If you don't want to use it, fine, but then you have no right to complain about people calling you all sorts of stuff in chat either.

I got a Bretagne. Not that I'll ever play her, though.

Well, at least it's over fast. You only need three full kills to clear the first boss (she has 350 HP, bar is 950). Also another extra LBAS which you can fill full of fighters (air raids on LBAS won't happen in the first phase but will be random in the subsequent two afaik. Yes, this map has three bosses). And you get NPC support for the night battle, so if you can clear out the majority of her escort during the day a kill is pretty much guaranteed. EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized that you need to use the north route for the last boss. This is going to suck. T_T -

Cleared E-5 on easy. Finally crafted myself a seaplane fighter for this map. Just in time too because E-6 phase one is a giant air raid [edited]ery along with heavy ship restrictions (no CV/Ls, no BB/Vs, only FBBs are allowed), probably designed to induce massive salt production. -

Pensa gets her upgraded guns removed to fit her into T6. Gun handling and penetration will suffer accordingly. Also 3100 HP less than currently upgraded hull. As far as I can see nothing else changes. Too bad, really, but probably the correct move. Super heavy shells would've been monster at T6. -

They updated her face a bit apparently. Changes are very minor but it does look better imo. I still like her. Would've also been happier with a flashier artist doing her CG but it's far from the end of the world as some are making it out to be. -
little bit disappointed with historical accuracy
El2aZeR replied to gyrostabilizer's topic in General Discussion
Cleve was hit with the nerf bat hard at the end of CBT (both directly and indirectly). She used to be one of the most hilariously overpowered ships in the game, easily bullying even T10 ships with practiced ease. She's still fairly powerful, but that's nothing compared to what she was back then. She has always been T6, though. It has afaik been planned from the beginning to keep her at T6 at first then move her up to T8 eventually with a line split.
