Petro actually has worse AA, though the main difference is in short range so it won't matter all that much. Yes, the DPS is mediocre at best. FDR is the only CV in the game that has issues evading flak.

Could be worse. You could be facing an actually good T10 CV instead of a FDR.

By playing ranked you diminish the primary thing that makes CVs fun, namely ruining the fun of others. Why ruin the fun of only 12 players when you can do it to 22?

I too constantly meet "AA ships" when playing CVs. Not that their AA matters ofc.

I've never heard about this before and I've been playing since CBT. Then again I have been playing nothing but CVs in the past 2 years so maybe it just passed me by. Though according to the video description of this: it was patched during 0.10.0, meaning WG brought it back lol. (Video is from Nov last year btw. Interesting how this didn't gain any attention at least as far as I remember.) -
Funnily enough that may be true with DDs since you're supposed to keep your AA shut off until you're spotted. At that point flak no longer plays any part in the equation.

A question you should ask yourself: Would a few machine guns or a bit more DPS really make a difference?

MvR was introduced post slingshot removal.

Hardly a technique given that it involved just flying straight through flak while taking no damage.

Meta T8 CVs perform perfectly fine in T10 MM. Hakuryu delivers less total alpha per attack and her torps are considered very powerful. Again, their viability depends entirely on torp spacing and how easy it is going to be to get all of them on target. As for them being scary, well, again depends on the above, but if that's a given they will be.

Meta T8 CVs make do with less, it is perfectly adequate when plane speed is considered.

Is it so hard for you to understand that AA effectiveness depends almost solely on the skill of the CV player and is as such in fact completely worthless if the enemy CV is skilled?

I can see them being pretty good if the spacing is decent. 21k total alpha is nothing to sneeze at especially with fast planes. And since the regen is very fast and ready reserves are rather generous you'll be unlikely to run out of them.

Literally GZ torps, just drops 4 of them per attack.

It should also be noted that using global WR as a balancing metric is complete and utter nonsense to begin with.

FDR is broken by virtue of being a CV, however it is not per se overpowered as its potential performance compared to Midway and Haku is mediocre at best.

Seems rather subjective. For example other players may play to win at which point CVs become the strongest class.
