Because Yamato has tighter dispersion, falling behind Iowa/Monty only at shorter ranges.
-
Sigma won't change that, because sigma = RNG. Better sigma = better chance of your shells landing close to where you're aiming, but it's still just that, a chance.

You do lose speed when you're flooding. Just sayin'.

Two of these may actually be a testbed for the CV rework. Dolphin carriers may be used to test a new control scheme. Flying saucers may be used to test a new AA mechanic.

I use torp reload. 80s torp reload is hilarious. Wouldn't exactly fault anyone for using gun reload, though.

Can you start a fire with a shatter/bounce?
El2aZeR replied to Beaker71's topic in General Discussion
Yes. Shatters do not matter to starting fires. HE shells cannot bounce. -

- uses AP against DDs/cruisers - switches to HE against BBs You could call her a potato, but one could also argue that she plays according to the current meta. -
Broken mechanics-Shells go deep underwater?[solved]
El2aZeR replied to Steel1nvader's topic in Archive
Underwater hits are in fact realistic and not a bug. That FdG was turning towards you, allowing your shells to bypass the turtleback, and thus the main belt armor, completely. Conqueror does not have a turtleback. She has a submerged citadel. Deck penetrations are impossible to achieve in this game without overmatch due to limited combat distances and auto bounce. E.g. an Iowa would need more than 27km of range to defeat auto bounce. The turtleback on KM BBs are proof against citadel hits at any reasonable distance found in the game. You can however citadel a KM BB if he turns towards you, allowing you to bypass the turtleback through an underwater hit, or by shooting through the bow/aft at the right angle, utilizing a small gap between the citadel and the turtleback. Neither are particularly reliable methods, it is often better to just shoot their belt for penetration damage. -
To all those believing in the fairy tale that #dd are capped: nope. 6 vs 7
El2aZeR replied to Kassiba's topic in General Discussion
5 per team is a soft cap for BBs/DDs (don't think cruisers are soft capped in this manner tho) that MM will waive if someone queues long enough. The only true hard caps are 2 CVs per team in T4-7 and 1 CV per team in T8-10. -
When a CV attacks an ally with aircraft after he has gone pink the damage will reflect onto the CV hull. Don't ask me how I know this, though.

T8 CVs are playable in T10 matches if you're limiting yourself to scouting, air denial and occasionally snacking on some overextended DDs. Striking capital ships becomes possible (albeit often still costly) towards the end of the match when AA has been severely depleted via HE spam. Cruiser heavy high tier matches, while incredibly rare, are what CV nightmares are made of tho regardless of tier. It should be noted that I haven't seen a cruiser heavy high tier match in maybe over a year. Personally I believe this is a fairly okay state for T8 CVs to be in when up-tiered. Could be improved for sure (as MM in general can be improved), but it isn't too bad. It does however require a certain understanding of your role as a CV, something that is severely lacking in the minds of the average playerbase.

The picture above actually shows an optical illusion due to Iowa's primary armor belt being internal. If you look at it like this: you'll see that Iowa (and Missouri) maintains her waterline citadel she's had ever since it got lowered. So nothing has changed.

Most BBs have better AA than cruisers.

aircraft carrier CV re-balance is it needed?....i think yes
El2aZeR replied to Warhawk1984's topic in General Discussion
Not really, because IJN CVs would have more fighters in the air regardless. In fact one could argue that Air Supremacy benefits USN CVs more since it buffs their powerful DBs, whereas IJN DBs remain negligible in terms of damage output. That's not to say USN CVs don't need further adjustment, they most definitely do, but captain skills have little to do with why they're underperforming. -

This ofc implies that your team is playing the objective rather than camping all the way in spawn. Or alternatively that there is ample island cover for your cruisers to hide behind close to the objective. In Sea of Fortune for example a single well positioned high tier cruiser can shut down two caps easily on their own. Such maps remain a rarity however, in fact Sea of Fortune is the only one that comes to my mind right now. -

El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. The entire issue is a convoluted mess right now. BB overpopulation plays into the hands of CVs, camping plays into the hands of CVs, the lack of CVs (ironically) plays into the hands of CVs and so forth and so on. Too many problems that should've gotten nipped in the bud a long time ago were allowed to fester or even exacerbated by poor design choices on WG's part, getting us to where we are today. -

Regardless of whether or not this is desirable, how can you even prevent this from happening? The "problem" with CVs in this regard is that they follow a meta that, as far as the community is concerned, is long outdated. DDs were never supposed to lone wolf it everywhere like they do now, but instead still operate relatively close (aka within ~10km or so) of nearby AA cover to not only be able to run for it if enemy planes appear on the horizon, but to guard their teammates against enemy DDs, spot torpedoes and provide smoke cover as well. Distance to the enemy usually played no role as your (IJN) torps were either long ranged enough or you were a USN DD focused more on fleet defense and utility rather than being on the offensive. This playstyle still works to a large extend and is still very effective when contesting caps but barely anyone employs it anymore. Too often do I see DDs rushing headlong into a cap even when my planes are already on them when they could've easily reached friendly AA cover had they turned as soon as my aircraft appeared on the horizon. On the other hand adjusting CVs to not enforce this playstyle is pretty much impossible. Even if you force them to use DW torps and AP bombs (which will likely never happen) this doesn't prevent them from targeting DDs with the latter, the comparatively low damage dealt can still easily turn a knifefight in their team's favor. -

Didn't get stutters before micro patch. Now I'm getting stutters after the 6th game or so. I'm running a MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G.

Nothing, according to WG it is fine that AP bombs are primarily an anti-cruiser weapon in high tiers. Yes, that is precisely as stupid as it sounds.
