Quick test in the training room, targets were Moskvas, Minotaurs, Yamatos and Montanas. Ranges 3-15km. Can't say I share the observations made by some others.

On Essex you need all the flexibility you can get as you only have a single paltry T8 TB squads with next to no reserves, thus I strongly recommend using HE bombs with her.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
El2aZeR replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
*hon hon hon intensifies* Well, and that's it for me. I may be able to squeeze out one or two more runs later on but I'm not having high hopes in getting Ark Royal or Warspite with those. Guess I'll have to wait for the next event, though considering everything I got so far I really can't complain. -
You can take AP bombs on Midway if you want to try to kill most T10 cruisers (all but Mino and Hindenburg get oneshot) as you have 2 TBs anyway. It's especially potent as most people seem not to spec for AA nowadays. And they still do a fair chunk of damage against BBs. HE bombs however afford you much more flexibility.

When the BBs camp so hard you need to go take caps as a CV. -
St. Louis Citadelled! IT IS POSSIBLE AFTER ALL!1!
El2aZeR replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
St. Louis has a turtleback that protects her pretty well against any AP shell regardless of caliber. Only problem is that her turtleback is extremely shallow, so BB caliber shells that hit below the waterline are guaranteed citadel penetrations as her 13mm side plating gets overmatched. Reliably hitting her below the waterline presents a problem however since low tier BBs are notoriously inaccurate. -
Something that is not from the UK and the US apparently according to @Warhawk1984.

While I experienced no drops after a dozen battles or so, the sound turned choppy in the last few matches.

If you enjoy playing CVs there isn't much reason NOT to go over T7. As for people moaning and whining about your performance, I can only quote what I stated in a previous thread. I mean, just yesterday I had a Hindenburg complain about how bad I am. In that game I got Clear Sky, Confederate, High Caliber, Kraken and ended up on top of the scoreboard OUTSCORING the top player on the winning enemy team (I think I got a little less than 2k base exp or so). He managed to end up on the lower end of the scoreboard with less than 500 exp gained (though he wasn't in last place, which really says something about average player skill). And I was captaining my Enterprise.

I feel like this is one of those ideas where you honestly can't judge how good/bad it is without seriously testing it.

Personally I've noticed no change in responsiveness. It's been this way since the last time they changed it ages ago (which to be fair made it a little faster, but introduced a [edited]-ton of bugs, many of which haven't been fixed to this day). Always been this way as far as my experience goes. If you want to be sure to select the right squads, use shift + corresponding number keys. Ctrl + A can also be used to select all airborne squadrons. Yes, you can remove a squad from takeoff queue with right clicking it twice (or once, I've always been double clicking it). I've still been able to do so after 7.2.0. I've had that happen as well. Made a bug report about it here including videos: In the match itself I was able to "unstick" left click by selecting a different squadron. That obviously wasn't an option anymore once it ended. Helpful hint the next time this happens: Arrow and Enter keys can be used to navigate menus. You can exist the game in a normal fashion with those.

The rule, as you've quoted, states that mods helping a player aim in any way that is not already available in the game are banned. Targeting enemies via an X on the minimap is clearly not already available, I honestly can't see any other way to interpret it. Then again, as Karma has pointed out, there are already a number of mods that skirt around it in a questionable fashion. As far as I remember the official reason as to why the momentum mod is not banned is because you could already gain this information by simply eyeballing it. Same could be applied to the angling and camera mod, I guess it could kinda apply to this one, too. I've eyeballed salvos myself with some decent results from time to time if there were landmarks available (don't think I've ever hit a blind salvo in open sea though unless the target was hiding in smoke). Though one could also argue that the former information is much more easily gleaned than trying to hit something via minimap alone, which then ofc begs the question where the line is in how much info a mod should be allowed to provide before it can be judged worthy of a ban. Tricky stuff. Really, to avoid all this drama I'd simply ban all mods that aren't purely cosmetic in nature.
-
But those modify existing features, while the mod in question gives a player information that is otherwise inaccessible. (How is a bigger minimap supposed to aid in aiming btw?)
-
I'm genuinely curious, how can you interpret the rule stated above in a way that this mod doesn't violate them?
-
Nothing has happened.

A comma denotes a decimal. A period denotes an increment in thousands.

If you had 23 seconds to respond to a torp no one would ever get hit. Speed is artificially accelerated in WoWs. A knot in WoWs translates into approximately 10km/h real speed (in contrast a knot irl is 1,852km/h unless Google is lying to me). You only have 4.4 seconds to react to a torp launched from a Yueyang. On the flip side a 20km torp from the Shimakaze, the by far worst torpedoes in the game concerning reaction speed (not counting CV torps ofc), give you 15s to react.
-
You're entirely correct. Rudder should continue to be operable but with a penalty as the skill describes. Personally I haven't noticed any change, though. Then again I haven't played my DDs too much recently. If it does happen to you your best bet is to record it then write a report in the official bug report thread.

It's well past the time to remove or fix it (Saipan)
El2aZeR replied to RAMJB's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Because clearly dodging strafes is so, so hard. Here's the deal: A Saipan is always going to strafe as he will lose click fights and try to abuse the gimmick he's been given. This makes "skilled" Saipan players extremely predictable and you can prepare accordingly. It's not that hard. That said, it is most definitely not okay that Saipan can strafe out without losses, but it doesn't make her omnipotent. And really the only reason it's not okay is because the UI is ludicrously unreliable, thus making counterstrafing unreliable. If the UI worked as well as in, say, StarCraft strafing out would instantly transform into a noob trap. -

El2aZeR replied to RAMJB's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Counterstrafing exists. Saipan fighters fall far behind the ones on Hiryu in a straight up click fight. Their T9 HP and DPS matter little. -
I liked the part where you insinuated that HE spam is even a problem. Telling you to git gud is in fact the most useful information you'll find. If you had spent your energy doing so instead of whining about HE spam we wouldn't be having this conversation. Now to be fair RN BB HE is way over the top, but that's the line you're grinding, isn't it?
-
This is funny because cruisers get more effective against BBs the longer the range is. *edited*
