Well, it is possible when you consider getting to rank 1 is a grind and not a measurement of skill (as the latter only affects how quickly you get there). I've seen a couple of Blacks behave in a manner that I would call "stupid as [edited]", no idea whether that was due to overconfidence™ or because they actually didn't know how to play though. (...I just realized part of that last sentence sounds like a racial slur, so just to be on the safe side here's a disclaimer: With "Blacks" I'm referring to people playing the ship, not people with dark skin color. )

WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
They also have far more restrictions than any other class. Their advantages are well traded off. Smart players will usually not find themselves alone unless ofc everyone else on their flank has been killed off, at which point the CV rightfully deserves to go punish because his own team has provided the opportunity. It's called teamplay and CVs are no exception to the rule. Almost everything can give CVs pause if they skill full AA, regardless of class or nation. And here we arrive at one of the many problems that plague CVs: AA skills/upgrades. Back in the olden days you had literally no choice but to spec AA, everything else was either extremely situational or completely worthless. WG has chosen to increase the diversity of captain skills, yet have elected not to smooth out their effects. In fact the gap has widened tremendously for reasons that are beyond me. This means without AA skills/upgrades most ships have completely worthless AA, while with a full AA build almost everything can become a no fly zone. Because clearly it is the fault of CVs that cruisers are rare or have to play passive. I would love to see that considering I can easily wipe out entire Midway strikes in my Fletcher with only BFT skilled. Yes, it kinda is. By playing a BB he is contributing to BB overpopulation, thus he's reaping his just rewards (also French BBs actually have very good AA, I honestly doubt such a strike would succeed). If the majority of ships in a match actually were cruisers (and these cruisers would play to their intended role), you know, as they were meant to be, this wouldn't happen because AA cover is always readily available, while cruisers would no longer need to play extremely passive if they want to survive against all the BBs gunning for them. Unless ofc RNGesus says [edited] you and puts you out alone in one of those ridiculously stupid spawn locations we all know about. Like seriously, how have those not been moved yet? Regardless of CV presence they remain stupid and should be fixed. -
Black is utterly worthless against CVs, so just have your CV kill him. Oh, wait.

WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
If the enemy team is exceptionally stupid, yes. Fact remains that this game is fundamentally a team game and CVs were designed to enforce that. If no one wants to play as a team then they simply get what they deserve. CVs doing as well as they are is a testament to how utterly abysmal the average playerbase has become, nothing more, nothing less. -

If that were the case I'd have a winrate close to 100% in CVs. Keep up the delusions, though. They totally benefit your narrative. -

No matter how you twist your words, the same principle applies. Considering how probability works you had your "chance" to win, most likely a percentage in single digits. Well, that didn't happen and deservedly so. Stop whining and deal with it. -

El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
No you don't. If the enemy team is strictly superior to yours then you do not deserve to win. Because anything else would be unfair to them. This applies to any game, sport, job or just real life itself. There is no equality when it comes to competition. Stop whining and deal with it. -
WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
"Enemy team played well, my team sucked, thus I deserve to have a chance at winning." Also your CV left the game and you still couldn't surpass him in score? Christ... -
No it would not. The very fundamentals in surface combat prevent this from happening. You literally cannot conduct surface combat and AA operations at the same time. You will either need dedicated players that focus purely on AA and forsake surface combat entirely, requiring a level of coordination that is way beyond what the average player is capable of, or you need to slow down gameplay significantly, both of which require basically a complete redesign of the game. Imagine you're in a brawl with an enemy ship and a CV swoops in to attack you. With manually controlled AA you would need to choose which threat to ignore and which one to focus on and regardless of how you choose you're basically [edited]. Heck, the very presence of aircraft will be able to prevent you from attacking other ships. A CV could simply fly evasive maneuvers all the time to make you incapable of targeting his teammates. If he sees that you're choosing to ignore him he swoops in without risk and kills you. The automated AA system is a necessary evil, full manually controlled AA would not work with the basis of this game.

WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
The top player on your team didn't even reach 600 base exp. To blame your loss on your own CV is hilarious at best. Fact is you never had a chance of winning that match to begin with regardless of CV MM. -
Quick test on my part. Compared to Monty Conclusion: Even with a picture perfect broadside, a stationary target and perfect aim luck decides whether you get a citadel on a Conqueror or not. Very much expected from a ship with a submerged citadel. All salvos were documented with a screenshot, too lazy to upload them all.

After a short amount of research it seems my source is indeed wrong. Found a photo among others after modernization which shows her quad 40mm mounts. -

Depends on whether or not they revert the nerf to their ballistics, though I'm sure I could make 15-16km work even in their current state. -

Actually Helena was sunk with 8x2 40mm guns. Her sister St. Louis carried 4x4 + 6x2 40mm guns at the end of the war. Regardless though no idea why her AA gets shafted this way. With her current ingame loadout she has less AA than even Pensacola. Only reason I can think of is to justify putting DD DFAA on US CLs as glorious gimmick™ (which I'd really not be surprised by at all). -

Though range seems too low for T7 tbh. -
If this were true we'd lose 90% of the playerbase in an instant. As far as statistics go CV numbers have been very much stable. There are plenty of reasons why CVs aren't popular, none of them have to do with feeling inadequate. No. Making battles bigger was only to appease the incredibly stupid belief that more CVs per match will solve anything. It won't because playing alone against multiple CVs of inferior, same or even superior skill level is not only possible, it is hilariously easy if you just understand the basics of CV play and fighter combat. The overall impact of a skilled CV on a match will increase heavily as you have not only increased the amount of players getting shut down by a skilled CV, you have also increased the number of targets as the average playerbase, both CVs and non-CVs, is unlikely to change in their ways. CVs do not benefit from sheer numbers in air-to-air combat and haven't since forever, it is why having more than two fighter squads give you incredibly diminished returns in random battles. Thus you create a scenario where a single skilled CV will be able to shut down air space against all opposing CVs completely, making his own CV teammates capable of operating with impunity. More CVs per game will only make things worse in the current iteration of CV play. iChase didn't suggest anything, he argued vehemently against it and explained thoroughly why manually piloting aircraft will not work in any shape, form or fashion with current gameplay. If you were to implement some form of manually piloted aircraft you'd also have to rework other core aspects of the game, which is inevitably going to change everything including how surface combat is conducted. The game is also called Battlestations just fyi. Again, these ships were meant to be the most numerous around in a battle and I can tell you from experience that being in a high tier cruiser heavy game is way beyond a nightmare as a CV. A single AA cruiser is capable of locking down as much as 16km of air space in diameter, having 5 or 6 of them around in a match without sheer numbers of BBs to keep them passive makes well over half the map inaccessible to aircraft. Measuring CVs with the current meta doesn't work, stop trying to do so. If the average player wants to keep BBs as the most popular class around by far, eliminating natural counters of CVs from matches, getting their faces kicked in by CVs is simply something they'll have to accept. And as long as the core problem (aka BB overpopulation) isn't actually addressed it should stay that way.

According to this: http://en.kancollewiki.net/wiki/Construction#Large_Ship_Construction_Recipe 3500/3500/6000/6000 or 4000/2000/5000/6000, both with 20 mats. -
As this thread is for whatever reason still alive, another test. Range 3-14km, targets Zao, DM, Moskva. If you want to doubt me, I have every single salvo documented with a screenshot. I'm just too lazy to upload them all. EDIT: Same test with NC for comparison.

But be careful, IFHE also increases the fuse time as per description so HE overpens become possible!

Funny, Shoukaku was the last buildable CV/L I obtained (not counting Saratoga as she was newly added by that time). I got a lot of CVs very early, actually built Zuikaku before I even finished the Akagi quest and she remains my highest level ship at 96 (though the event has allowed both Haruna and Maya to catch up). -
You'd have no problems setting these things up in a CV match if cruisers were the most numerous class and would play to their inherent role. You know, just as they were intended to be. Just sayin'.

Well, that's wrap. Personally I'm pretty happy with how the event turned out. 99% sure I was only able to clear the event thanks to the new casual mode and allied fleet support, so imo those a great additions (obviously ). Didn't get Ark Royal or Warspite with my last few runs as expected, but since I got pretty much everything else I set out to get I'm fine with that. Only thing I can really complain about is the Great Wall of Ru in E-4 which taiha'd me way too often. (To those who want to know why "Good Bye KanColle Phase 1", they're abandoning Flash, aka "Phase 1", and migrating to HTML 5 as "Phase 2". All data and content will transfer over so nothing will really change for the players.) Now, time to build hype for FREEDOM DD coming this Spring Event!
