No, it isn't. USN fighters have far longer strafe pathing, if you miss with them you're [edited] unless your enemy is incompetent (which to be fair is rather common). If they're planning on nerfing hangar capacity (the only thing keeping her flimsy TBs in the fight) then they could've at least upped her TBs to T9. Though I would much prefer it if they change her setup to 2-1-3 (or even 2-1-4) and make all her strike planes T10.

Battleships - Unsuited to current Operations/Scenarios?
El2aZeR replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Dispersion is the same across a nation, Fuso and Nagato thus share the same dispersion. Only difference is that Nagato gets much better sigma (2.0 vs 1.5), so she gets lucky more often (sigma = essentially RNG as per official statement). BUT volume of fire has a quality all on its own. When comparing single shots Nagato will maintain the upper hand obviously, but in full broadsides it's entirely possible that Fuso will score the same amount of hits since she has more guns. It could be more than reasonable to say that Fuso be rated equal in accuracy compared to Nagato in that regard. -
Nah, Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, Kronshtadt & Stalingrad are all battleships/-cruisers by definition. The former two especially don't fit as cruisers at all, if not by gun caliber then by armor. They're just shoehorning Kronshtadt and Stalingrad into a cruiser slot so they can increase the number of BBs per match without tampering with MM and give them cruiser consumables, thus continuing to pander to the most braindead class in the game. This also enables them to say that not all free exp ships are BBs. From a marketing perspective it is kinda brilliant, really.

Why are so many rude? Instead of having fun
El2aZeR replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
Because you can literally feel your brain die when you see the average player play. Just today I had a Fletcher (half HP) on my team that had a Hsienyang (~500hp or so) in smoke on one side, a Z-23 (59hp, no that's not a typo) attacking him from another and a Lexington (near full HP) at 11km and running away in reverse. What does he do? He shoots the Lexington and lets himself get killed by the two DDs. The moment you accept that pretty much everyone around you is an idiot unless proven otherwise the game gets much more enjoyable, since you don't need to feel guilty leaving some stupid overextended teammate to die or throwing insults at camping BBs and the like. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

I would've much preferred if they had simply made aircraft completely incapable of spotting torpedoes, but it's a step in the right direction. -
Please, what resources were drawn on to make the event that could've been used to improve the game? - 3D Art - Programming .....and that's pretty much it? Balancing/Game Design department certainly didn't do anything. And the programmers did nothing but implement features that are being tested for randoms anyway, so that's time spent improving the game as you wish for. The only time being "wasted" is that of the 3D artists, who themselves said they didn't spend a significant time on the spaceships anyway comparatively speaking. Also those skins are being monetized, so from their perspective that too is time well spent. No time was truly wasted in creating this. WG has made plenty of mistakes, but this certainly isn't one of them.

Vanguard- What would you like to be its features?
El2aZeR replied to Erik_Aukan's topic in General Discussion
They do happen very rarely. I can count on one hand the times I've managed to citadel a KM BB (barring the latest "bug"). Likewise I can count on one hand the instances in which I've actually taken a citadel hit in a KM BB. Everything looks like plunging fire from the perspective of the shooter. Shells in this game behave more like aircraft and less like actual shells at long ranges. The angle of impact however is according to real life values as has been proven in testing. In that context plunging fire is impossible to achieve in this game.- 37 replies

El2aZeR replied to Erik_Aukan's topic in General Discussion
No, that doesn't happen. It doesn't happen to any BB in this game (barring some weird bug/feature we don't know about as we've all seen the pictures of Minotaur being somehow capable of scoring a citadel on a Monty. Heck I've done it myself once). Auto bounce deflects any shell that comes in at an angle <=30° unless overmatched. To achieve that in a QE you need ranges of over 27km. So yeah, the "weak" deck armor that WG is advertising is actually the strongest in the game as you cannot overmatch it with any gun caliber + it's proof against most HE spam. There are two ways of getting citadel hits on a KM BB. 1. Shoot at the waterline when he's turning towards you. This makes your shell slip beneath the turtleback. 2. Utilize a small gap between the turtleback and the citadel by shooting through the bow/aft. Neither are particularly common occurrences. It's honestly amazing how many people still believe deck penetrations are possible.- 37 replies

- Haku services a lot faster - Haku planes are a lot faster in general thanks to actually being T10 - Haku has T10 TBs with a whopping ~500hp advantage over Midway T8 ones (the last time I attacked a somewhat healthy GK I lost literally all TBs in my Midway) - 3 TB squads = higher flexibility - DBs are more accurate and can set 3-4 fires easily with some minor micro, relying less on RNG - DBs can be used as expendable scouts if necessary, Midway needs hers armed and ready as they are an important component of her strike package - fighters can still be used to achieve at least air parity, if not air superiority unless you're completely incompetent. Also Haku easily wins 2v1 fights.

Autumn Event is back in AL(CN) with a bunch of new ships added. -
Only problem I have personally is that they haven't gone for full sized teams.

Quick note on concealment: Personally I play all USN CVs (and CVs in general) without CE (the upgrade however is mandatory). If you're sure in your situational awareness and positioning you don't really need to put 4 points into it. Also remember that concealment serves as an early warning system against DDs trying to sneak up on you, finding proper balance between when you're too visible and when you're too stealthy is key in that regard. Imo the sweet spot lies somewhere around 12km. USN CVs typically don't reach that without CE but they also have far longer response times than IJN CVs, so I've accepted quite a bit of leeway upwards.

I've run out of things to say at this point. -
Ah, yes, I can definitely see how truly weak AA is.

Yes, you can. Left click on the minimap will move your view to the specified location (it should be noted that I use the alternative control setup which you can enable in the options). No.

CV, fighter vs fighter t9 advice needed!
El2aZeR replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Either counterstrafe as described above or bait him into strafing then and reengage. -
It's a throwback to CBT, where we already had a space battle event once on April 1st 2015. Even if you don't like it, space battles are also a testing ground for the new weather mechanics. Besides, no one is forcing you to participate and space camos (like all "weird" ones) can be disabled so you'll never see them ingame.

WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
While I too don't like the current MM system (+/- 1 MM alone would improve both AA and overall balance significantly), there is the context in which these matches are played. My expectations of Random Battles only go so far, because I realize it is not meant to be a competitive game mode (no matter how much I wish people would treat it as such at least a little). Playing random battles is akin to playing soccer with random people on an open field rather than playing in a stadium with an official referee, teams and everything. Inevitably one team will get that one guy who trains in a club and stands miles ahead from everyone else in terms of skill. Or, even worse, a bunch of them all insisting to be on one team so they can crush everyone else. And it's all fine that way due to the circumstances the game is being played in. Why should the many suffer from the few? Well, why should the few suffer from the many? Both questions are equally redundant in that context, really. Besides, skill based MM is an impossibility given the current playercount and will remain that way for the lifespan of this game (unless it somehow tremendously surges in popularity). Less than 30k players on average simply isn't enough to sustain it. The goal of game balance is to give each team roughly equal chances outside of the human factor. MM does this more or less, it can be improved upon for sure but for randoms expectations can only go so far. -
WG FFS fix CV MM or lose all normal players
El2aZeR replied to Adm_Hoshiko's topic in General Discussion
Well, to just quote myself from another thread: And in just very recent statements WG has made it clear that CV play in high tiers is too difficult. Literally everything points towards increasing damage dealing capabilities in some way. Yes, it did literally nothing. Didn't force a turn, didn't deal much damage (8k or so?), didn't even force DCP. It was an absolute complete waste of an attack and my extremely limited resources as well as increasing the effective reload of my TBs to approx. 4 minutes. I only flew that strike because the game was about to end anyway, otherwise I would've simply never struck that Republique at all. Oh, and before I forget, likewise the Hakuryu did literally nothing with those 3 torp hits to me aside from dealing a paltry amount of damage. It's extremely amusing how you immediately try to put blatant lies out there, though. No, they are not. And considering how this game is structured it's more than fine that way. WoWs employs an asymmetric role distribution, creating 4 completely unique classes with their own strengths, weaknesses and playstyles. To balance that the game does not aim to equalize everyone, which is impossible given the asymmetric nature of the game anyway, but employs a counter based system, meaning that every strategy or tactic can be defeated. StarCraft for example, widely known for being an extremely well balanced game, also uses such a system. The very notion that every class should have the same amount of potential influence on a battle is stupid beyond comprehension, because then we'd have to discard 3 out of 4 classes entirely. There is not a single successful game out there that has several fundamentally different classes which also have the same amount of potential influence on a match. By very law of nature this is an impossibility. -
So basically the average player just needs to git gud? Then there is no point in changing anything.

Well, you're in for a ride. At T9+ almost any ship, even some DDs, can murder entire strikes if specialized for AA. Personally I can kill about half of a Taiho TB strike before they drop in my Missouri, then another quarter as they exit. If I stack that with just one more ship with decent AA then I essentially become invulnerable to air strikes and I don't even use the AA dps upgrade nor MAA. This is the whole thing about CVs, you're supposed to play with your teammates, not go wandering off alone. Problem with low/mid tier cruisers is that their AA power is usually lower than the one found on BBs, DFAA really being their saving grace and that's only for the spread. A 300% damage boost for a base value of 0 is still 0 after all. Gneisenau can murder entire T6-7 strikes fairly easily with a few AA skills/upgrades, anything above that becomes rather dicey. Colorado has about the same base AA but most of it concentrated in 40mm mounts, which will inevitably get broken more easily by HE fire. Gneisenau focuses far more on her long range guns which have much more survivability and benefit a lot more from MAA. On the other hand Colorado is also much more maneuverable and presents a much smaller target, so it kinda evens out. Still, T4-7 tech tree CVs aren't too much to worry about even if they come in pairs, Hiryu being the only true threat of the lot. On the other hand T7 premium CVs are extremely dangerous if their captains know what they're doing. Though I do agree that WG should restrict CVs to 1 per team if only because they made the incredibly stupid decision to take away alt attacks for low tier CVs.
-
Sure, CVs don't become a viable threat until T7+, tech tree wise even T8+ as Ranger is still horrible and Hiryu suffers from having T6 TBs. Independence is effortlessly defeated by a bit of maneuvering and positioning, Ryujo is slightly more annoying but neutered almost just as easily. And considering their incredibly low reserves (1 extra strike wave and that's it) and how horrible T5-6 MM usually is it also means there is plenty of AA cover to go around. A single Gneisenau will murder entire strikes on her own if just a bit is spec'd into AA. Either way it's 2 ships less I have to worry about. If you find yourself under constant air attack without being capable of depleting the horrendously low reserves of T6 CVs you have horribly misplayed.
-
I love double CV matches in low tiers. Two less ships I have to worry about because lol auto drop.

- wrecked her sister via not fully raised anchor when she went out to escort FDR - live depth charge fell off her deck, making the entire convoy think they're under sub attack - fired a live torp at Iowa while FDR was on board (thanks for pointing that out @ShinGetsu), entire crew arrested - gets sent to Aleutians for a year - drunk crewman fires a 5" shell into the base commander's front yard during a party - finally sent to the Pacific, actually does fairly well - gets killed in a freak accident by a plane she technically speaking already destroyed - as a hilarious twist of fate, all of her crewmen survive Don't think I've heard of a more unlucky warship in WWII.
